Sans un Mot

This is truly magnificent to me - I recieved a decant in a rather large care package and it took me ages to get to it. The rose in this is really noticeable, but it feels like a creamy, powdery iris scent. It's beautiful, nothing incredibly new, but still truly beautiful. If I find a full bottle of this for a decent price, I'd definitely buy it. Like others have mentioned, though, there is a sharpness that may either be some woody essence or the blackcurrant. Still, definitely a long lasting beautiful scent.

When I first smelled Sans un Mot I couldn’t believe how familiar the scent was...I just couldn’t put my finger on what it reminded me of. It definitely smelled like a cosmetic product that I had used in the past (makeup, perfume, haircare, baby powder, Vaseline, etc.) A few hours later, it finally hit me- it was none other than KENZO FLOWER! Gosh I can’t stand Flower, even though I should love it to pieces because it has all my favorite notes. Sans un Mot is like a softer, more tolerable Flower to my nose. A delicate powdery floral fragrance, but not diaper-y like Flower comes off to me lol. A fellow MUAer said Sans un Mot reminds her of the scent of Lancome lipsticks, I need to sniff ‘em sometime to compare! A pleasant, modern, and glamorous ladylike scent. It's nice, but I prefer other fragrances in this category including Terry de Gunzberg Ombre Mercure, Frederic Malle Lipstick Rose, Love Chloe Eau Intense, Chanel Misia, and Ferragamo Emozione. Update 12/11/2015: I just tried a Revlon Moon Drops lipstick for the first time, the scent immediately reminded me of Sans un Mot.

I am trying this out on the beach on a hot summer day, against all fragrance odds...and it works! Sans in mot is tender powdery and flowery. It is whiff of a dainty lady in her 30ies and up - it must be the iris adding a touch of that lipstick scent which is always associated with maturity for me. Excellent choice for a feel good fragrance which will not only not offend anyone around you but on the contrary, will raise many an eyebrow with "what is this really nice scent you are wearing?"

Once the initial notes dissolve (it doesn't take long), this is a powdery and woody, almost resinous, scent. It reminds me a lot of Femininite du Bois without licorice and medicinal notes (I consider FdB an absolute masterpiece, therefore it's a good thing). I'd think this could be also worn by a man, because the drydown is as masculine as the original Dior Homme. A strong like.

the black currant on the open don't let me wear it. I ignore the other notes. what a shame!

extremely rosey, extremely violety and extremely 'flower' by kenzo. it's different enough to stand on its own, though the dna and similarity is clearly there. it's hard to tell which is the more dominant; the rose or the violet, however, they work quite well together, they just lack a hard, solid top note to hold them down. it comes across as top top top, and whilst that's okay for some people some time, it's not my kinda thing. it's deliciously wonderful, just not a 'me' kinda scent...

Another try on my search for makeup-y scents. This one is a good violet powder, lipstick floral (not clearly rose)with a smooth vanilla base. It's a bit like a perfumed lotion. Lovely and gentle. VERY like my beloved Guerlain L’Heure de Nuit, but side by side, Sans un Mot has less licorice and more powder. I like it very much, and I don't much like powder scents for all that I'm trying out tons these days.

Sans un Mot is definitely a feminine, powdery fragrance, to my nose. Although I don't usually opt for fragrances that resonate with a powdery polarity, this one is rather light and definitely ladylike. This would be an unobtrusive fragrance that I would be comfortable wearing in an environment where a heavy fragrance would not be appropriate. Here, Jovoy has achieved a lovely balance of these accords.

This is a pretty perfume, although I didn't really like the sharp opening, which must be due to the black currants. It doesn't feel very special when you stack it against other rose perfumes. It can stand on its own merits, but since I already have Portrait of a Lady and Isparta I won't be buying a full bottle. I do like those better and feel they last longer too.

Top Notes. Could be called sweet powdery musk, Dominant violet notes. Good use of pepper. Mid notes, complimentary rose scent appears. Good follow on to top notes. Rose dominates in the dry down. Feminine scent. Sillage to arms length. Low on longevity, a couple of hours.
