I don’t think it’s very Japanese though they sell it as that. Japanese feasts (gochisou) don’t smell like this in Japan. It’s more western. Anyway, I absolutely love it. First impression is an explosion of holiday season/ x-massy scents - sweet, rich, spicy, ambery, warm, festive, addictive, dessert like but not a specific one. Stays spicy, warm like a hug you miss and turns softer after some hours. I‘m surprised: though it starts with this explosion it calms down pretty fast, within a few hours - too fast for me. Had to reapply a few times during the day. People around me loved it and I shared it with them :) It’s an experience!

The opening reminds me of Christmas markets in France. The orange is tempered by the cinnamon so it’s not very bright and citrusy; it’s reminiscent of a baked good but it’s not gourmand. The anise is prevalent but not overpowering; it mixes with the heliotrope and gives it a vintage perfume vibe. It reminds me of something from the early 90’s, i cant quite put my finger on it. The drydown is heavy tonka, it reminds me of Tonka Sarrapia by Guerlain. Overall i enjoy this and am happy i picked this up while in Kyoto. I enjoy vintage fragrances so this is a welcome addition to my collection, especially as it was very inexpensive.

Picked a bottle up in Tokyo. Warm and spicy, the dry-down reminds me of Shalimar.
