On A Cloud

It’s Christmas morning. The snow is falling slowly and the flakes are big and fluffy. There’s a plate of half eaten cookies next to an empty glass of milk; Santa has been here. It’s chilly outside but your hands are warmed by a hot cup of peppermint white hot chocolate with a generous topping of whipped cream. Today, for one day a year, you feel the joys of being a child again. Everything is sweet and full of wonder. This is a simple yet extremely effective perfume. To my nose, it smells of peppermint, vanilla and sugar. The peppermint is sparkly at the top - bright and fresh. Then it dries down to a beautiful sweet vanilla lactonic scent that sits close to the skin. This is a personal fragrance that doesn’t scream, it whispers. It’s the upgraded and adult version of Bath and Body Works Twisted Peppermint. If you are as nostalgic as I am and love to create a scent space that reminds you of Christmas, this is the perfect scent. I would love to purchase this as a December perfume staple.

Just picked a bottle of this and yuzu up, and man. I will be keeping this stuff on the low, never smelt something quite like it. On first glance, lactonic and mint? Seems quite strange... I thought the same. Until I tried it. Oh. My. Goodness. J-scent, just have full access to my bank account already. This stuff is PHENOMENAL, and that is an understatement. It is light, airy, minty, slightly laconic, really refreshing, and has this “cooling” sensation to it. Please, if you have the opportunity to try this, do so. J-scent is one of the best houses in my opinion, their price to value is amazing, really high quality scents, and have a cool story to them unlike designers. Projects quietly, but in small close areas, others will be able to pick the scent up. Lasts around 4-6 hours. 9.4/10 (p.s. if you are in japan, check out tsutaya bookstores as they carry the whole line at all stores. Converts to around $32 USD.)

I have been on the hunt for a perfume that smells like my favorite candy, those mint pastel nonpareils. This is IT. Smooth, melty, sweet-but-not-too-sweet peppermint creams. This was an immediate blind buy for me and it paid off. It's incredibly wearable imo. I don't like scents that are too fresh or bracing but the sweetness and creaminess of this tames the mint, which is strongest at the initial spray and mellows out within 30 seconds. It's not too strong, which I prefer, and while it's a simple fragrance I think it's different enough from typical gourmands. You don't see mint in a gourmand every day (I also like Snowshoe Pass by Solstice scents but the mint is much farther in the background). It dries down to a slightly sweetened steamed milk vibe. So lovely & exactly what I was looking for.

I actually bought this last October and wasn’t overly impressed. It has now sat for 4 months in a dark wardrobe and the scent is everything I wanted. This is a delicious, uplifting, creamy peppermint scent. I love the smell. It’s cooling on the skin and would be really refreshing in the heat of summer. It layers beautifully with tea scents and citruses. It would also work really well with chocolate fragrance for winter. It is also just as nice on its own. I bought this deliberately for layering. It’s just such a shame it performs like a skin scent. The opening of this perfume is absolutely divine. It would be so amazing if it stayed that strong all the way through. I do still enjoy it though, and would probably repurchase it.

i love this perfume! a problem with a lot of perfumes that contain milk notes is that they start to smell a little sour, or even synthetic - but on a cloud is not that perfume. it smells like the kind of creamy peppermint candy that melts in your mouth or a mint tic tac. my two gripes with this perfume is that the mint from the beginning does not last as long as i'd like. when it's fully dried down, the mint is very faint and the perfume becomes more sweet vanilla. my second gripe is that the longevity of on a cloud is not that great in general. the projection is also very intimate, but that is just what j-scent fragrances are like. 9.5/10.

I bought this hoping that it would be that truly COLD milk that I was missing from lactonics, which always pull warm, sour, and cloying on me. It worked. Love her! Sweet, expressive peppermint milk in the opening. She's a creamy, powdery, sugary mint vanilla in the drydown. My partner thinks it smells vaguely marshmallowy. Very light, keeps close to the skin. I can smell this on my clothes for eons. This is now my bedtime scent after my nightly shower. This is a contender for my favorite scent overall. SO comforting, I will be buying backups. LOVE. Edit: Twisted Peppermint doesn't hold a candle to this. TP is sugary-sweet candy canes.

I want to say mint ice cream but it's not artificial in the way mint chip is. It's a smooth and creamy lactonic paradise with a sweet realistic mint. LOVE LOVE LOVE! My only gripe is you need to douse yourself to feel like your projecting, and the lasting power is not there. A really great one for when I'm working for home and I want to feel a little halo of sweet positivity. I sit at my desk sniffing my wrist lol! I could imagine getting a full bottle because it's the best version of this kind of scent that I've ever smelled, but the lasting power gives me pause-- it wears off in an hour or two.

i’m pretty sure this is my absolute favourite perfume that i’ve ever had the privilege to smell. this opens with a gorgeous peppermint note that reminds me of sugary candy canes then dries down into a milky vanilla that i can best compare to those white rabbit lollies? or milk bottle lollies? either way it’s absolutely lovely! it lasts quite a while on my skin, the peppermint fades quite fast but the middle and base notes are so good that it doesn’t bother me at all. my only regret is not buying multiple bottles while in japan :,)

Oh my stars!!! Be still my heart!!! ♥️ This is it. This is THE vanilla mint I’ve been searching for my whole life (well, maybe just my whole olfactive journey). There’s just one problem - it disappears almost immediately! I have loved her and treated her so well, and yet she still insists on betraying me. There’s only one solution... it must be cloned. If Dua made a clone of this, they’d blow it out of the water. I desperately need this in my life, but she’s gotta straighten up!

I love this! It reminds me of a vanilla peppermint tea I drink sometimes. White tic tacs, buttermints and humbugs too. Maybe a candy cane white hot chocolate. I get why some would associate it with the dentist but thankfully it feels more sweet and gourmand to me. Sometimes lactonic notes pull sour on me but this one doesn't. It's a fluffy white cloud of a scent. Pretty discreet sillage. I'm sure you could wear this any time but it's especially nice for winter.

Addicted to the sweet vanilla peppermint combo, reminds me of how I was obsessed with white tictacs as a child (first thing I ever stole from a store, an accident but still theft) but mostly for that short lived sweet coating. If this lasted more than 10 minutes I'd forego every fragrance I own in favor of on a cloud. Sadly, my collection remains and I will never shell out $100+ for such a fleeting pleasure.

A milky fragrance that can be worn in the Spring and Summer. Light, uplifting and quite delicious. If you like milky fragrances this would be a great addition to your collection! From a minty milk candy (not overly sweet though) opening, it dries down to a nice warm milk scent. Amazing longevity! Projection is quite intimate. Scent: 8.5/10 Projection: 6.5/10 Longevity: 8.5/10

smells identical to tictacs. phenomenal scent, but god does it disappear. the peppermint disappears extremely fast, about 15-30 minutes on my skin, and you're left with a very pleasant sugary vanilla drydown, which does still smell distinctly of tictacs, but even the drydown i find lasts only a couple of hours on me. definitely one you need to carry with you to reapply.

Dreamy soft creamy peppermint, so beautifully done. Reminds me of those soft pastel mints served at weddings in the US. The mint lasts only a matter of minutes as always for this note, the difference here is it simply fades out s instead of breaking down into noxious byproducts which is usually the case. Gentle milky vanilla drydown.

All fragrances in this line are pretty poor performers, and are fairly linear. However they are extremely photorealistic to what they claim to portray, and this scent is no different. It smells EXACTLY how you imagine a milky summer cloud in Japan to smell. I never wear this, I just spray it to feel nostalgic about Japan.

smells like those red and white peppermint candies and humbugs, buttery peppermint candy. it’s a chilly cooling mint, initially i found the milk note a bit strange and off putting but it fades out pretty fast and becomes pleasant and sweet. i haven’t smelt a similar fragrance

minty sweet goodness. smells like one of those mint chocolate candies that some restaurants have with the hard shell. so light and milky, the name is very apropos. this is the start of my quest for the perfect mint perfume and we already have a very strong contender.

This is so interesting! I thought I got whiskey, milk, sugar, and mint. I see that there’s no booze, but I sense it. It must be the strong mint and sugar that gives me that smell. Anyway, definitely a gourmand. I don’t have any perfume like this. So interesting.

Reminds me of mint chocolate ice cream on spray, but starts to smell like the first few seconds of popping a mint tic tac in your mouth, vanilla/marshmallow scent that gently mixes in with mint. I really like it, smells delicious🩷

Like another reviewer said- smells like one of those peppermint candies that melt in your mouth. Very uplifting yet cozy . Too bad that it only lasts like 1-2 hours in skin. It’s still love for me though, perfect for summer

The best peppermint scent in existence and the only perfume I have a back up bottle of. It’s just such a massive shame this doesn’t last long once sprayed. It still remains my favourite scent out of my entire collection.

Such a beautiful vanilla mint swirl, light & airy “On A Cloud” is such a perfect name and I’d love to live here forever but unfortunately I can’t because the longevity is pretty weak but oh do I love it.

This is a very refreshing candy creamy candy cane scent with a bit of vanilla bean. I adore it alone or for layering. I also find it to be relaxing and cheerful.

I have gotten a sample to see if I wanted to buy a full bottle - as someone who is intently looking for a mint/peppermint scent I would give it a 6.5/10 personally, although I think the mass majority would quite like the scent much more. It starts off to be a sweet peppermint scent, similar to a candy cane although afterwards, I find the scent to be really sweet & creamy with only a hint of peppermint - which many people would like as it is not strikingly mint and the sweet & sugary vanilla has an airy yet creamy quality from the milk notes which is quite nice and not synthetic (although not what I am personally looking for), on myself I have not experienced a sourness that some has with lactonic scents. In general a simple & nice day-time scent which is not offensive. As a contrary to the other reviews, the sweet & creamy scent has lasted quite a while on myself (although the mint has died within an hour). The sillage/projection is definitely on the weak side where you would really need to be close to experience the scent. To summarize, I will not be be buying a full bottle but I would highly recommend to get a sample to those looking for an intimate, very sweet, light & airy summer scent.

I haven’t seen anyone mention this, but for the first 10 minutes it feels spicy and cool on my skin. I think the mint note might be an essential oil. It’s not irritating, just cold, like one of those cooling mists or a sports gel, not the smell, just the feeling of cold. At first it’s all mint, sharp and fresh, then it fades and the vanilla and sugar come through. It turns into a sweet, smooth, creamy scent. I don’t really get the milk, it’s creamy, but not milky. Smell's like the filling of an off-brand mint Oreo. It’s a pretty intimate scent, stays very close to the skin, barely projects. On me, it’s gone after about five hours unless I press my nose right to where I sprayed it. Maybe for those +30°C office days since it's cool and won't bother anyone

When I was a little girl, I created an imaginary planet that was entirely red and white, and covered in candy canes. I named myself the empress of this planet, and somewhere out there exists a photo of me around the age of eight, straddling a child-sized rideable candy cane made of styrofoam. I wore a short white bob, a sparkly, furry white vest, a striped red and white dress, candy cane tights, and red shoes. On a Cloud makes me want to pick up my crown and rule once more as Empress of CandyCania, where the rivers run with whipped cream instead of water; sparkles instead of snow fall from the sky; and we all have pet reindeer instead of dogs.

The initial spray and the first hour or so will have you smelling like a buttermint. Because I don't necessarily want to smell like that, I wasn't crazy about this one at first. But after the opening peppermint note disappears, this becomes a very soft and airy vanilla. Great gourmand for people who prefer lighter and "fluffier" fragrances over heavier and more "syrupy" ones, which I think overwhelm that category a bit. I personally really like that this is light, it isn't cloying or overpowering and I think it will be amazing in winter.

Very playful scent. The beginning is spicy, sharp mint and then on my skin it smells like minty, roasted coffee. Later under the mint I smell slightly burned sugar. The scent stays very close to the skin and after an hour or two it is just delicate sweet mint vanilla coffee. It is lovely but not for people who don't like sweet or very intimate scents. This is definitely the perfume to enjoy only by the wearer and the ones that are centimeters away from him/her :)

Even at Japanese prices (30$ max per bottle) this is tragically not worth it. I adore it, it’s exactly the scent I have dreamed and looked for for at least 4 years. But it lasts literally 20 minutes MAX. Even on clothes. Even on hair. Even on moisturized skin. Layer with anything and it will disappear. I know Japanese scents are subdued and close to skin, I don’t expect a beast mode fragrance... but this is really really really poor performance.

I absolutely love this perfume. When you first spray it, it's a minty vanilla. As it dries down, the lactonic notes come out and the mint fades a bit. It is creamy and sweet. However, the sillage and longevity are almost non-existent. Even with my nose right up against my wrist, I can barely smell it after half an hour. This might perform better when sprayed on clothes or over lotion. Hopefully it will strengthen after it sits for a while.

Extremely cute. A rare fresh gourmand? Super minty to start but chills out after 10-15m into a light, cozy vanilla. If you used to drench yourself in B&BW Warm Vanilla Sugar as a teenager and still secretly think you'd like to wear it sometimes, even though you're an adult now with "elevated taste" in "niche fragrances", you might enjoy this as an understated alternative. I keep reaching for my sample as a guilty pleasure home/bed scent.

This is exactly like the peppermint tic tac and I LOVE it. Creamy mint candy that sits close to the skin and actually has decent longevity (4-6hrs) but poor projection which I dont mind. This is such a easy reach when I want a good whiff that makes me happy but I'm not trying to impress anyone, which is most days. I especially love how it feels on a cold crisp day, but I think this will be an all year round scent for me!

Mint chocolate is a popular seasonal flavor during summer in Japan and this perfume smells just like mint (minus the chocolate) ice cream. This is definitely intended to be a summer/hot weather perfume, but I can see it being a year round daytime fragrance. If you are into sweet minty lactonic scents you'll love this one.

Makes me smell like a buttermint! I am a sucker for lactonic and buttery accords, so that plus a green, fresh bite of peppermint was always going to be a win for me. It would honestly work for any season. If it's summer, picture a scoop of mint chocolate chip. If it's winter, picture a Christmas cookie.

Before the pandemic, Chick-fil-A used to offer a simple mint at the self-serve station—that's exactly what this smells like. Over time, the milk and sugar notes become more prominent, making it less similar, but the mintiness still lingers. I quite like it.

Off rip, straight peppermint, but dries down into a really nice lactonic, milky scent. It is literally cold to the skin like actual peppermint and opens up my nasal airways. Personally the dry-down is so much nicer, but doesn’t last too long.

This reminds of me of being in middle school and downing one million white Tictacs so that I could fill the container with various pills. It is simply too late for me

A sweet candy cane with a hint of honey on top. I didn't expect to like this, but it's fun to smell :) Really unique and fun!

This is a straightforward creamy peppermint. I agree that it smells like the opening of a Tic Tac. My mind immediately went to King Leo peppermint puffs and those Christmas vanilla mint lollipops that See's Candy carries over the holidays. J-Scent has never been about staying power so if you want something less close to the skin, look elsewhere. The peppermint is pretty harsh upon the first spray but mellows out. The mint disappears quickly and you end up with a cozy, milky lactonic. I think folks who like Hilde Soliani's Drink Menta might like this as a more subdued, everyday office scent, but personally, I find it nowhere as interesting. Also, I am curious to know if anyone has ever attempted a butter mint candy-inspired perfume.

the first 10 seconds are terrible, like a really cheap mint vape. i got the cheapest one at the gas station once when i had just become legal and it reminds me of that. then it becomes a nice soft milky peppermint for about 10 minutes, before nearly disappearing into faint musky vanilla. i can’t decide if the peppermint is still floating around. not entirely sure i want to smell like this

This is a very dainty, sugar in a porcelain cup scent. It’s definitely not a syrupy sugar, nor do I feel “sticky” when wearing it. Very surprised that a gentleman working at a Mexican restaurant could pick up on it over the environment. Doesn’t give off any seductive or sexy vibes. The white tic-tac comment below is spot-on.

Mint, followed by vanilla cupcake or ice cream. Very intimate projection- maybe about 30cm. It's a nice unique scent with a bit of a cooling effect on the skin.. I was hoping for something a bit more complex or reminiscent of buttermint tea, but I like it the more I get used to it. It's a fragrance you wear for yourself.

I wanted to love this so bad. It is a pretty sweet mint. For literal minutes and then it’s barely anything at all. It’s definitely pretty. I just can’t get behind a perfume that performs worse than a cheap body spray.

I'm on a hunt for the perfect springy vanilla marshmallow mint and thought this would be the one but by the time I walked out the door, it was gone. Even when I held my nose to my arm and sniffed. So sad

The opening really matches the concept, the peppermint keeps it cold and airy with the marshmallow. However, the dry down is just peppermint for me.
