Beyond Oblivion

Very fresh scent. Beginning - intense, fresh, green. I don't really smell mint there, more ginger. Later it becomes delicate, fresh, clean and close to skin scent. I can smell it for about 4 hours when I press my nose to the skin. I'd like it better if it were staying longer on my skin.

I couldn't disagree more with the below review and I hope it isn't the reason that there's only one total review on this one. I was at a boutique intent on buying something and smelled probably 25+ offerings from different houses, including all three of the J-Scent Profound collection. This is the one that called me back above everything else I smelled. Sacred Animal from this collection is also fantastic but this is much better than Ume Amaretto Oath. It opens with a very bracing, very fresh-from-the-garden pepper-esque note, not entirely dissimilar to Piment Brulant from L'artisan. That's the only thing I can really compare it to and even then it isn't 1:1 - the opening is very unique. I think this must be a smell unique to the Myoga in here because I'm not sure what else would be imparting it. In the mid and into the drydown it becomes more of a green floral/tea scent mostly dominated by hyacinth and green tea, the musk and vetiver are noticable as well. Nothing in this reads "chemical" to me at all , in fact it all comes off as remarkably natural which is kind of the calling card of most of the stuff I've smelled from J-Scent. Projection is excellent on this for several hours, and it remains noticeable for around 8. It lingers as a skin scent if you put your nose to it for a while beyond that as well. This line definitely performs beyond the base J-Scent line and they seem more thoughtfully composed as well - I would say they're certainly worth checking out at the $200 price point. The packaging is beautiful also if you care about that sort of thing.

Okay, what?! On paper, and at first sniff, this smells almost identical to Nasomatto Absinthe. Then, on my skin, after 5 minutes, it settles into a green, headache inducing chemical mess, after which it becomes the more toned-down version of just that, with the musk shining through a bit more. If only they stopped at the top notes...
