Ramune (Japanese Soda)

Ramune is fizzy, minty, uplifting and one of my personal favorites. It opens with a bright, powdery fizz that tingles the senses. A strong mint note hits right away, giving the scent a cooling effect that’s refreshing and relaxing. The mint lingers in my nose, not in an annoying way — more like a soft, calming breeze. This scent seems to change with the weather. On hotter days, it leans more citrusy and sparkling, like sipping on a cold drink at a summer picnic or festival. In cooler weather, it morphs into something crisper and more powdery, almost like cool fall air — not mountain or oceanic, just that feeling of clean fall air brushing your face. There’s a blend of aldehydes and fruity citrus notes that keep it feeling metallic-fresh and just sweet enough. There’s a clear floral presence, but this isn’t a floral-heavy scent. I also get a wet, watery feel that’s hard to place — not quite aquatic, but definitely dewy. Add in a touch of soft green (not fougère), and you’ve got a scent that feels alive. I’ve never tasted real Ramune soda, but if this is what it's supposed to be then it's beautiful. Projection is more on the moderate-to-close side, and longevity is average. This fragrance lifts my mood every time I wear it, and it’s become one of my favorite scents in my collection.

Ramune is a children’s soda with a plastic marble, a red-pink color, and effervescent, strawberry kool-aid like flavor. I always order it with my ramen, and it’s the perfect savory-sweet combination. This perfume is an elevated version but perfectly reminiscent of the strawberry soda scent. The opening has the tiniest note of mint with citrus but primarily is photorealistic Ramune. The aldehydes are a light touch for effervescence but not at all soapy like a Chanel. Normally I’m not a fan of watery-green florals like lily of the valley or waterlily, but the slightly green floral touch elevates this fragrance from a cheap, Demeter smell-a-like scent to a filled out, fully constructed perfume. Otherwise this might be too sickly sweet, so in here I admire the subtle contrast and balance the bitter aldehydes and green florals provide. It took a few wears of a 2 ml sample to decide but did buy a full-sized bottle from LuckyScent. I believe you can also buy travel sizes (10 ml) directly from J-Scent but then you’re paying for shipping too.

Today I've learned I'm sensitive when it comes to aldehydes because whoo boy that first sniff was a lot. Let me preface this with: this scent is gorgeous! but at first oh my god it smells like lemon pledge and plastic. This is definitely a scent that does better on skin than paper, it takes some of that powdery, artificiality of the aldehydes away and gives it that true "fizzy" note. The citrus in this is gorgeous, and when combined with the florals, raspberry, and vanilla creates a lovely zesty lemon candy scent. Only downside is I wouldn't necessarily describe this as ramune, it's almost *too* citrusy for that. Still tasty though! Sillage is mildly disappointing, I don't smell it at all unless my arm is near my face. I suppose you'd need more than 1 spray of course, so I could be misjudging. Also judging by these other reviews, it's a toss-up if this pulls more like candy or cleaning spray on your skin so buyer beware.

It has a very realistic scent of ramune. It’s the kind of ramune sold at Japanese festivals (Natsu-Matsuri), aimed at children. It really brings back memories. What’s amazing about this perfume is that the scent settles quickly, becoming a composition that captures “fun summer memories and that atmosphere.” It’s not just a cloyingly sweet ramune soda; it’s crafted to gradually build a sense of melancholy as it dries down. I feel like I can smell my mother’s scent in the back. It reminds me of the day when I was five years old—I got so carried away at the Natsu-Matsuri that I got tired and fell asleep in my mother’s arms. I recommend spraying it generously. You can buy it for around $30 in Japan, but it seems to be more expensive if purchased overseas. so If you’re traveling to Japan, enjoy the Natsu-Matsuri and ramune, and find yourself loving the atmosphere, you might want to pick this up before you leave.

Drinking a fizzy grape soda with a mouthful of bubblemint gum. Like other J-Scent frags it sits close to the skin. I get whiffs of it here and there when I'm moving, so I think it can create a nice little personal scent bubble. It's very bright and clean, the the fruits don't get rotten and the florals stay very delicate. The dry down is a little soapy. The longevity is not the greatest, I've found some J-Scents last better than others. I can see myself reaching for this a lot during the summer, though.

This really does smell like Ramuné in the air! I blind bought this fragrance for my wife and I because we love Ramuné and we are both happy with this fragrance. On my skin, this projects heavily, and is quite dynamic, and the dry down is actually very pleasant, but the opening is very strong and I would not recommend sticking your nose in a fresh squirt, but catching whiffs in the air! Definitely recommend finding a Ramuné original flavor too! It’s like lemon-lime and bubblegum flavor!

It's impossible for me to rate the notes on this one because I genuinely can't differentiate them, it just smells like photorealistic Ramune soda to me. Awesome unami smell. I wore this at my concessions job and it "cancelled out"/made more tolerable the greasy overpowering oily popcorn and hotdog stench.

It smells like ramune! Boyfriend tells me it smells like SweetTarts candy - strong sweet and sour, fresh and summery. Hits hard at first. Fizzy. Childhood summers by the pool and melting popsicles. I never had a ramune until I was an adult, but there you go. Girly and fun, certainly lives up to the name.

This smells like sitting on the ground on a hot summers day, side by side with your best bud. The two of you sipping on a freshly opened ramune soda. the cool liquid refreshing you and making you feel at peace in this moment while you listen to the crickets and cicadas in the long grass.

Smells just like Japanese Ramune soda but a bit spicy? Very unique summer/hot weather fragrance that I am personally a fan of, but its polarizing for sure. I recommend testing it on your skin first as it smells great on me but absolutely putrid on my friend.

When I first smelled it, the zing of carbonated soda was so dead on I almost winced! Bubblegummy, lemon sugar-y but not so heavy that you feel bogged down. It's light and airy with a crisp minty, ginger type kick. Smells like nostalgia to me

Straight from the bottle, it smells extremely comparable to the actual soda. It's a little less bubblegummy than standard Ramune, but it's got a fruity, almost grape-smelling zing to it and it really does smell fresh and fizzy. Once you actually spray it, though, it sort of loses that sweet fizziness and becomes more of a generic "clean" scent that is reminiscent of cleaning products as others have outlined here. It's still nice in its own right--its addictive in the same way a dryer sheet, dishwasher pod, and Fabuloso are--but it's really not what you'd expect. I actually do like this one, but had I bought the full bottle, I might have felt a little cheated. On paper, it's a candy-like, juvenile scent, but in practice it's actually more of a sweet and clean scent that I find a bit more mature. It's certainly unique and worth a try.

I like it but I have been asked if I'd just come from a nail salon before hahaha; I can definitely see how it picks up like acetone or some artificial fragrance in a spray bottle cleaner 🧼 It's a fun zingy and summery scent, and I really like how it captures the carbonation and tangy grape-ish flavor, although I don't think a full bottle is necessary for most people. I'm lucky that my friend bought this for me when she went back home to Tokyo (full sized bottle was $36 at the time, compared to $110 on global website), so considering that price point, I am satisfied ☺️

First thing that came to mind when I smelled this was cherry tobacco. Ofcourse, it does smell like Ramune but probably due to the (i'm guessing) raspberry at the top being pretty strong on my skin, I think of cherry tobacco. Didn't get much of the citruses on my skin tho. As is dries down, it gets soapier and the florals come out more along with the vanilla. This has pretty good projection and longevity on me. Due to the sweetness, i'd say this would work well in cooler weather. Overall, pretty nice scent.

To the reviewer below,$15.. not in the USA. If it were that cheap I would buy 3 bottles. I have never smelled ramune but this screams Summer. It is on the light side but does lasts 6-8 hours. I was afraid to wear it because of all the floral notes but it's perfectly unisex. As mentioned it's got that fizzy lemon lime vibe that dries down to a light floral with a touch of sweetness. 80 bucks for 50ml is a bit on the steep side for this type of scent IMO but it was a pleasure to sample it.

Ramune is a very cheerful, uplifting and fun fragrance. It really does smell like soda. The aldehydes give it that sparkling fizzy feel in the opening. I should say I've never had ramune, but I have had a ramune flavoured candy and this smells exactly the same. I get a few hours of wear out of it and I'm happy with that. It's a nice pick me up type of scent.

Fun! Fizzy, citrusy, slightly fruity effervescent perfume that’s legitimately different to anything I’ve smelled yet. I do get a little soap but that’s probably just a side effect of the aldehydes. My beef with this, like many j scent perfumes, is that on my skin at least, it doesn’t last. I get about a half hour out of this, start to finish.

this is so good it smells so refreshing such a nice citrus but i wish the top notes would last longer on skin after a few hours it leaves the skin with a clean musky scent which is fine but i am still getting the citrus top notes on the clothing. it reminds me a lot of the scent big blue by lush

really great. It might be a little overpowering initially, but the hints of carbonation are very apparent. It's still on my wrist eight hours later and doesn't seem to be disappearing even though It has mellowed down. fresh and would be great as a summer/spring scent.

I bought a bottle of ramune to compare with the fragrance. There's something a bit one dimensional and medicinal going on with the opening of this fragrance that isn't present in the soda, but other than that it's realistic. I can't tell if I love it or hate it.

At first it definitely smells like that sugary bubbly smell of ramune. Kinda like if I got some on me by accident or it leaked in my bag. Really cute kind of scent. After about two ish hours though it kinda become powdery. Which I don't mind

this smells like being in a mexican grocery store as a kid. it has the fizzy citrus chemical scent of floor cleaner and the sweet bubblegum fruitiness of the candy aisle. im super impressed

makes me SO happy. teeters way over the edge of too sweet: oversaturated grape bubblegum soda and i can't stop smiling. very drinkable.

this is the scent if you wanna smell like an asian warehouse supermarket. or a can of 7-up. turns vaguely vanilla-y in the drydown... loved the concept, smelt a bit too young on me. I think there was a Claire's perfume that smelt like this one...

initial spray smells literally like....almost photorealistic ramune! fun and nostalgic scent at first, quickly becomes cleaning products/bleach on the skin. fills me with nostalgia as a former weeb but the dry down leaves a bit to be desired.

opening note is great, its smells just like ramune. as it sat on my skin it turned into a laundry detergent/cleaning product smell. wish it had that fizziness throughout the entire wear. would probably not purchase

Smells like grape ramune, which I don’t mind but it leans into fabuloso at times😶 the opening is rather pleasant and fizzy but that’s all I can give it.

Initial burst of fizzy Ramuné then morphs into full blown Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit gum. The dry down is very soapy clean with soft powdery candy necklace.

At first, it does smell exactly like ramune. Within 20 mins it turns into a faint soap powder. Meh....

I didn’t expect much when I blind bought this because I came here and read the reviews. Somehow I’m even more disappointed than I expected to be. Mint bubble gum that smells like plastic and inedible candy. HARSH is the best way to describe the opening. Mint punch in the face with some fruity plastic. The aldehydes are borderline overwhelming and I get nothing that grounds the scent. No woods, no musk, the florals are synthetic. I am dissatisfied and disappointed. The worst part is I got this as part of a three bottle purchase and it was by far the best of them. Yuzu and mother of pearl are AWFUL

Oh god no..what the hell??🥲 this makes me want to puke...reminds me of a mix of mr sketch mint, grape, and licorice scented markers. Yuck. I get the fizziness but it’s gone after the few seconds of spraying. The mint with the fruity floral..i dunno, and its making my head ache. I was expecting a light bubble-gummy soda from this (like how original ramune smells like)..this just gives me gummy bear hippie vibes. And its slowly starting to smell like nail polish and fluoride..🫩

Damn. I was excited to try this and really wanted to like it but sadly I do not. On my skin and my nose, I just get lemony cleaning product and like bubblegum flavor children's medicine. The dry down is nicer..it's still kinda soapy but it also reads to me like chalky candy (smarties, conversation hearts). I appreciate what J-Scent was going for with this one, as you can see in some of the lovely descriptions here--I wish my skin chem agreed with it more!

As a ramune mega fan, I am disappointed to say that this is an evil and warped ramune. A loud and low pitched bubble gum note, clashing against a screechy minty lemon chemical cleaner top note. Enthusiastically out of tune. Real ramune is a much softer, harmonious blend of bubblegummy soda pop flavours, unlike this dissonant beast. Olfactory tinnitus alert!

Nope. On initial spray, smells like a bubblegum marker. The scent of soda emerges, but there is no sweetness like one would expect from a ramune soda. It very quickly turns into a generic soapy, almost aquatic floral scent. Like cleaning products. Very disappointed as someone who likes ramune soda.

how would somone want to smell like this? it’s an acidic, slight soapy soda vibe it’s kind of giving house cleaning product the mint was also kinda sting at one point this is all around weird

Old fashioned smelling aldehydes and floor cleaner, then dries down to a dusty vanilla/amber combo. Nothing like any ramune I've ever had.

i don't usually say this about perfumes, but good GOD this is awful. i WISH i could pick up on what makes this similar to ramune! but i don't! instead of a fresh, clean opening, the sweetness hits me all at once upon spraying. harsh, fruity... dentist-y? it's almost reminiscent of bubblegum fluoride the dentists would put in my mouth as a kid (i soon learned the bubblegum was a lie — mint is far superior. get the fluoride over with, wench. do not deceive me with your sweet trickery). it still gives the impression of something fizzy, but instead of a delicious soda treat i more or less feel like i am going to be throttled by some bubblegum-mint fairy with a taser. maybe while i am inside a LUSH store. definitely while i am inside a LUSH store. on my skin, the mint notes emerge far more, and gives a strange twang to the overwhelming sickly-sweetness on paper. it's not a good twang, but after drying down, it becomes somewhat more bearable. i certainly wouldn't wear this, but that is merely my perception of it! someone else's skin chemistry might fare wonderfully with this. i wouldn't say it is blind-buy friendly either — but i advocate for sampling first no matter what anyways, so perhaps i am le biased. overall rating: 1/5 — they're putting me down at the combination dentist-LUSH tomorrow. 🐦👎🦷

i am so shocked that no one else said that this smelled terrible to them... to me this fragrance actually smells like beer and ammonia. personally, i couldn't even smell any citrus or any other notes. i was shocked, as i had never been so grossed out by a scent before. i was looking forward to a light, citrusy ramune scent, but my nose refused to smell anything of the sort coming out of this one.

I love this fragrance! The only real way to describe it is, unfortunately, it smells like ramune. If you don't know what that smells like, I can do my best here to explain - but really, I recommend you just go and find one of those marble sodas and smell it for yourself. Sweet, slightly powdery, a hint of effervescence (nothing on the level of CdG Soda which could honestly tingle your nose, but there is a bubbly nature at the front of Ramune more like A Lab on Fire's Paris LA) and the most delicate twists of lemon and lime. I would say there is the tiniest hint of musk that just makes it more discernibly a fragrance and not just well...artificial flavoring or something. Just enough to ground it and take any potential sharpness away. This is about as round and soft as a soda scent can get. As is the case with most fragrances with this composition, it doesn't last that long. I'd give it a good few hours, might make it all the way into the evening if you have sprayed your clothes too. As it fades it is a gently sweet, candy-powdered tablet of lemon/lime. To me this is a wonderful fragrance that is charming, youthful and fun. Almost everything I look for in a scent, something that brightens my mood and hopefully the moods of others, and reminds me of the fun and frivolous things in life.

As any other scents from J-Scent, this one is a photocopy of what Ramune smells like, particularly when you smell it straight from the bottle or if you spray it on a paper strip! I was hoping this would stay and fade into the fresh, fruity soda scent as it was in the beginning. But maybe not; the dry-down felt more like a bland laundry detergent/clean green smell instead of a yummy, candy-like freshness. This is also a general observation of scents from J-scent, but the longevity is not there, although the silage is somewhat more pronounced than in some scents. I would say this is not a safe blind-buy, if you are expecting the initial notes/the description of the overall perfume to last! And...maybe this is just a biased comment from someone from Japan, but many Japanese companies fail to appeal their audiences by trying to please everyone while their creators pursue a very niche interest, thereby creating a discord. That’s what I got from many perfumes from J-Scent; the vision was there, but the performance is just scattered, mediocre at best. Come on J-Scent, do you wanna be the next Demeter from Japan or do you wanna do it a more classic way? :(

This misses the mark for me, unfortunately. I purchased a decant expecting a scent which more closely evoked the aroma & "taste" of its namesake. Ramune is an extremely nostalgic soda for me - not for reasons of growing up in Japan, but rather for my trashy suburban American hibachi restaurant childhood outings. The experience of trying that drink for the first time as a kid was unforgettable. The kookiness of the marble top, the fizzy sweetness, the fact it was something completely unlike what we could get in the normal supermarket! J-Scent's Ramune is more of a bubblegum scent. Somehow... it is more sickly sweet than the soda itself. I really badly wanted to love something from this brand. They have an endearing approach to beverage-themed scents, the packaging is gorgeous, and the price point is fair. However, I haven't found a total smash hit. The closest would be Yawahada.

J-Scent Ramune (Japanese Soda) is a fresh fizzy mint drink scent with blended hints of lemon zest, raspberry juice powder, soapy aldehydes, and rose. Actually it's more like a subtle rosy laundry soap was blended in and I don't care for a laundry accord, but this is such a unique clean scent and I'm in love. For performance, this isn't intimate at all on my skin. It's not beast but I get a nice scent bubble within arm's reach and even better sillage when I walk. This lasts about 7 hours on me. It goes intimate and disappears in the sixth hour. This is what I wanted Room 1015 Love-O-Matic to be.

This one, to me, opened with a punch of bright aldehydes aimed directly at my nose. My first thought was, no joke, "oh, that's harsh". It settles down a moment later and the aldehydes fade a little into a bright, "bubbly" powder, flavoured with lemon and lime. If you've ever tried Lush's 'Limelight' toothy-tabs (a solid-powder-pill-toothpaste-alternative), then congratulations! You've just found that scent as a fragrance. A pass for me personally, but I'm sure there are people on who it'd work.

As a vehement hater of aldehydes, the way it’s done here is actually pretty impressive. This really smells like opening a bottle of ramune. It is fresh, sparkling in opening, artificially sweet in that soft, slightly floral-fruity way. For those who have never had ramune, I can understand the comparison to lemon cleaner. It’s just a matter of exposure. This fades pretty quickly, settling into a soft, soapy floral that's comforting and gives Japanese clean girl aesthetic.

This is a very good quality fragrance. It smells just like the scent of ramune when you pop open the bottle. It has a fizzy aldehyde quality to it but softens to a creamy fresh scent in the dry down. It is reminiscent of bright sunny weather, with a cool breeze. This scent encapsulates walking down the street with some close friends, carrying a drink and being carefree and joyful. It evokes joy!
