Yuzu

this is based on the perfume oil, not the edt. if you want something juicy, this is not it--it is almost exclusively yuzu rind and pith, and seems pretty photorealistic (with the caveat i don't often have yuzu). would the average person find this pleasant? probably not. it's bitter, one-dimensional, and cough drop-y, and i would not want it any other way! it's everything i usually find interesting in a citrus frag. i keep reaching for it when i want something simple and invigorating to wear in this heat, although with its cold medicine vibes, i could see myself wearing this well into winter as a pick-me-up. shockingly good lasting power for a citrus! lasts 6+ hours on my skin.

This is currently and has been my favorite perfume. While most people find citrus scents bright and refreshing-- this is also no exception, this is also a scent I find so relaxing and soothing that I use it as a sleep scent, spayed on my pillow every night. It lasts a long time on the skin for a citrus scent, and is one of the most realistic yuzu scents which is not very sweet at all especially deep into the drydown where it loses the floral notes and becomes more zesty than juicy. Amazing layered too, especially with fruity scents.

Such a pure beautiful concoction of citrus notes ....yuzu, grapefruit, lemon, lime, bergamot, mandarin orange with no bitterness whatsoever. As I wear this in summer, it instantly lowers my body heat ....it really has a cooling effect. I also like looking at this vibrant orangey yellow liquid, it makes me very happy. This maybe the best citrus fragrance I know. I’m planning to get my backup bottle.

smells like pure lemon disinfectant spray - which is a white whale of mine. perfect for people who are 24/7 paranoid of smelling bad in the summer and want to finally feel at ease.

The opening is pure citrus. Orange peel, lemon, and bergamot shout at you the moment the perfume hits the air. Something green in the background is supporting the citrus explosion, very likely the thyme. Strangely, despite all the clearly present citrus fruit, this is not at all a sweet smell. There's a bitterness and slight sour note that rules this scent, similar to the pithy rind of a lime being zested or peeled off as a cocktail garnish. Usually I would associate citrus with a bright feeling of freshness, but this smells more like skin stained with bitterness from zesting multiple lemons and even more limes over the course of at least an hour. This is gourmand in the most confusing way. Truly a food smell, but just the citrus peels and none of the sweet acidic juice. If I came across this in the wild, I don't think I would recognize it as a perfume but rather just assume the wearer has been processing citrus garnishes at the bar for the last few hours. There is no rose in this fragrance and the suggestion that it is one of the base notes feels like a confusing clerical error. I think most of what I enjoy about this is how odd it is. I don't think I would ever choose to wear it on its own as anything more than a novelty, but I think it would be very interesting as a layering fragrance to elevate something sweeter or add some complexity to a warmer scent. 5.5/10

Agree with most of the reviews: opens with refreshing, bubbly Yuzu and lemon zest and simultaneously the thyme. These are the prominent notes and the scent is linear which is not a bad thing at all. Sometimes what I want is a straightforward, uplifting citrus 🍋🍊! All the reviews that mention cough drops are not wrong. I would never want to smell like a cough drop and I admit that the thyme is my least favorite element here, but it is natural smelling so I can appreciate it. I would prefer this without the thyme as I believe that is what adds the mentholated note and translates into lemon cough drop. Still, I enjoy the freshness of the scent and it has its own simple beauty including not coming off as synthetic or headache inducing which far too many modern fragrances suffer from. I'll take non-offensive thyme over screechy musk/sugar/soap every time!

Smooth citrus opens almost drinkable. The notes that accompany the yuzu and emerge in sequence are above all mandarin, beautiful thyme, very fresh roses. Personally I find that the yuzu is not the undisputed protagonist here. The thyme note that I love to use in the kitchen shines on my skin and here it gives a green, palatable, masculine cloud that dries in a spicy way without any sweetness. Very pleasant to wear, fresh, simple, versatile, natural and never demanding. Absolutely to try for lovers of the thyme note.

I’ve never smelt yuzu, but the reviews are pretty spot on, it's very zesty and bitter just like citrus rinds, somewhat smells pharmaceutical... like cough syrup, not in a bad way though! Plus, it fades away. Overall refreshing, extremely uplifting, and happy smell.

The opening smells a bit like dish soap, then it immediately becomes pure citrus peel (tangerine, lemon, yuzu, orange). It’s not bad, but doesn’t evolve that much. In my opinion is very good for layering though!

Fresh citrusy scent w/ a realistic bitter citrus zest note I like. This is the base scent of Oyedo. Of course, Oyedo is sooo much more lusciously complex. But this Yuzu is its embryo.

A bitter citrus that is slightly herbal and refreshing. There is a medicinal smell but it works. I agree with the review below bitter medicine that refreshes and heals.

True Yuzu from start to finish

For anyone who knows Leau Dissey Pour Homme, it's mostly known for its yuzu note but this is not that. This as other commenters mentioned, is a bitter, sharp and green scent. The most prominent notes for me are yuzu, lime and thyme. Its definitely a linear scent. Projection is on the moderate to high side when you spray it on and becomes moderate the longer its on skin. Longevity seems good for me especially for a freshie. It is definitely on the unique side smell wise cause I have smelled quite a lot of freshies but nothing really smells close to this. Overall, pretty good scent for a warm summer day.

This is a weird one for me. Opens up really bitter citrusy with a green thyme mix. The combination of both ingredients give the perfume a 'cannabis smell'. The dry down is more or less the same as the opening : fresh citrusy and green/woody. Quite linear scent and projection is ok nothing more. This house has definitely better scents than this one.

It definitely smells of citrus and greens. It is mandariny, and thymy. There is a bergamot scent there, which I'm not too big of a fan on, and then there is the bitterness from the zest. It's not bad, I would smell it again.

This smells like pencil shavings on me. Maybe it’s the thyme? I know some people might be into that but it’s not for me! Kinda smells like my hot yoga studio somehow.

This opens with a blast of bitter-leaning, sharp Yuzu. From the beginning, there is a pungent, aromatic undercurrent (probably the thyme) that lends this fragrance a detergent-like quality (not like Japanese detergent, but more like what is used in wide parts of Europe). And that’s it. I found J-Scent’s “Yuzu” to be a very linear scent. Due to this vivid association I have I’m not a fan. Also, I miss the slight warmth and the green spiciness of a real yuzu. This is a bit one-dimensional. Zoologist’s “Macaque Yuzu Edition” does a better job recreating the complexity of the aroma - although at another price point. J-Scent’s “Yuzu” is young, it’s unisex and lasts around six hours on my skin. Although I own several creations of this brand, and generally am fond of anything yuzu, I found this to be a pass for me. Also, as a fragrance I would hesitate recommending this one - at least do test before buying. TL;DR: Pungent, one-dimensional yuzu.
