Juicy Couture Oui

I almost feel guilty to admit that this has been my signature scent for a few years now and I've gone through several bottles. Probably because I've taken an almost extreme interest in fragrances lately and want to frolick in the same lane as some of these expert reviewers and their intricate and fascinating opinions on perfumes. Juicy Couture is typically not highly regarded, from what I've experienced. To each their own. OUI a warm weather scent - the watermelon juiciness implies a bright and leisurely time. I think it's being discontinued, so I really began to try out other scents.. and have been neglecting my bottle (it's also winter time where I am, and I've decided I want a real "winter" cozy perfume... but that's beside the point.) This perfume does have a woodier dry-down, which I've discovered that I absolutely adore in perfumes. Note that I hadn't been incredibly interested in trying new scents until lately. OUI (proper) is my favorite "version" of this line. The Splash smells like sunscreen and as if someone is trying very hard to convince you that they're on vacation. It has it's own merit but this is not a review of Splash. Glow is not very interesting to smell in my opinion, I find it to be pretty generic. To me, OUI (proper) has many things going for it. I've not known a fruity perfume to have this level of well-roundedness and be able to balance florals and woods at the same time. This also stays on my clothing for a seemingly infinite amount of time. Everyone's body chemistry is of course different, and it is so interesting to me to see others say that it smells sharp or offensive in some way. It apparently agrees with my body chemistry very well, and I do get compliments when wearing it out and about. Also my boyfriend tends to hug me extra tightly. My mom loves this perfume, too. The first time she smelled it on me, she kept sniffing my head and remarking that my hair smelled really nice. I told her that it was this perfume, and ended up giving her my rollerball from my purse. Since then, she has wanted the full set with the lotion, body wash, and edp for the last 3 Christmases! She uses them up yearly!

Wow this is a love for me! I smelt it on my grandma first, and it smelt so fresh and floral on her she immediately gave me a sample. Fast forwards, I have bought the whole set and it smells so juicy on me! Yes it does open with watermelon, but its really just fresh sweet and floral, a bit citrusy too. So for me, being still young, this is exactly how I want to smell if I want to be clean and fresh, yet still retain that youthful sweetness. The watermelon isn't overly sweet but more tangy from the citrus, its really quite unique! I wouldn't fully describe it as fruity. Clearly, this perfume is appropriate for all ages and is just the dream summer scent. It's a compliment getter because there isn't anything like it but its still simple (not basic) and enjoyable for all. Its the strongest juicy couture scent I have had so wont fade away either. What makes it appropriate is the white floral notes, which add a classy element to the scent. Although if this helps, it smells just how the bottle looks (bright and classy, young yet reserved) so if you have fallen in love with the beautiful bottle just like me, run and get it. Its unlike no other juicy couture perfume. As for the vibe, its a day by your friend's pool, reading magazines and making drinks, and really anyone can do that, that's why I say its for all ages!

This fragrance is fruity, fresh and a little sweet, but it's very unique. For some strange reason, i can't really detect the pear or watermelon. It's like they're perfectly blended together. The acai berry and honeysuckle definitely plays a huge role in how this unique scent came about. "Oui" is a playful summer scent, but it's definitely not juvenile like a lot of JC fragrances. I can definitely picture a woman in her mid 40's wearing this scent just as well as a 21 year old woman wearing this. The bottle is just as unique as the juice inside of it. It reminds me of nail polish lol. The opening is a bit strange and maybe that's why some people dislike it, but after 10 minutes, it turns into pure pleasure and i no longer understand why this fragrance could ever be disliked. The longevity is okay. I get about 4-5 hours on my skin. I'm not too sure about projection. This fragrance is inoffensive and is safe for work, outings with friends, and close encounters. For the price they're charging for it, you're getting a pretty amazing scent. I definitely recommend this fragrance for anyone, but sample it first. Scent: 8/10 Packaging: 10/10 Performance: 7/10

Ok. In spite of my ignorance of exactly what a “technowood” note is, I bought a bottle of this. I was also hesitant because there’s a tea note mentioned, and tea notes in general do not agree with me and make me nauseous. I will admit the bottle did play some part in my decision to purchase, it’s a really interesting bottle and I collect bottles as well as the fragrances. The top notes to have a hint of tea but it’s very fleeting. The main note I get from this is the watermelon. In my opinion it’s really well done and not like a cheap synthetic body spray watermelon. It really smells like when I cut open a Fresh watermelon. It’s so good! I find this lasts moderately well meaning it’s like 6 hours. There is some sillage, but it’s subtle. What I mean by this is that it won’t fill a room and leave a long trail, but it’s not a skin scent for me either. I think this could be worn in many settings without offending others, but that people will still notice you smell good. I don’t get the woody notes at all.... so alas, technowood still remains a mystery to me. I say if you like an authentically fresh fruit smell, you would like this.

From the bottle I expected another hot mess fruity cocktail. But this actually surprised me! It's very elegant, floral and sultry. Yes there is a pear top note but it fades pretty quick and you are left with a sophisticated creamy floral scent. I smell tuberose over honeysuckle. Normally Juicy Couture perfumes have a horrendously sweet honeysuckle note (like in VLJ Fleur and others). It's super cloying and nasty. This is NOTHING like that honeysuckle. IMO it's a very clean, fresh, light honeysuckle scent. It reminds me a little bit of Versace Bright Crystal and the Yellow Diamond version. Lightly fruity but mainly clean, woody, musky feminine floral. Of all the Juicy perfumes, this one is definitely more mature and along the lines of the original in that it's not a super gourmand scent. I like it a lot but it's not unique enough that I NEED it now. I'll wait until inevitably, a big gift set of this is like $30 at TJ Maxx within a year. I hate the bottle, it's super tacky. Even the VLJ bottles are cuter than this.
