Royal Rose

This is my third review for the Royal line of Juicy Coutures, and I am happy to say that all three have shown themselves to be great quality fragrances.It's a gorgeous floral with touches of incense. Very elegant, and not so girly as the bottle looks. The notes are not impressive, and I initially worried that it would be to similar to other sweet roses like Avon Velvet and Valentino Rosa Assoluto. While all three are in the same 'family', Royal Rose still stands on its own. It's 100% a taif-rose perfume. It's very plush and blushed with sweet nectar undertones. Almost edible! Royal Rose also has a touch of heliotrope that shows off it's almond-pastry facets. The combination here reminds me of the delicious texture of a macaron. As it dries down, Royal Rose also brings out a pleasant incense, which sits somewhere between red musk incense and Indian Temple Incense. It's sweet too, but also very warm and dense. I also sense some amber. Honestly, I am in love the the drydown- it's just delicious, especially when it reactivates with body heat. My only complaint is that Royal Rose is not as strong as its siblings. That said, Glistening Amber and Majestic Woods have bombastic strength so that puts Royal Rose at around average.

UPDATE 1/21/23: My husband NEVER compliments me without me prompting him to give me his opinion. And when I walked in the room, he said "Ooooo, you smell good! I like that one" :) Beautiful scent and beautiful bottle. The sweetness of the rose balanced with the smoothness of the heliotrope and the enveloping incense is absolutely gorgeous. Very well done fragrance. On the complete dry down, about an hour in, the rose hits its peak of sweetness and the incense recedes from being the prominent force and the scent becomes perfectly balanced. It's beautiful from initial spray, but it is much more strong the first hour and the incense is a little more on the smoky side to start (still beautiful though!). Definitely a Fall & Winter vibe, day or night. I need a back-up bottle of this one. I can see it layering well with Delina Exclusif (I only have the Julianna's perfume dupe, Inner Beauty Exclusif) if you want to enhance a tart rose but cut into the price of wearing those fragrances. 10/10 for me. I have Glistening Amber as well and that is an intoxicating one, too!

If you are used to niche fragrances this is not too loud or excellent in persistence, but it is a surprisingly well combined fragrance. It is pleasant, deep, dry rose (not green, not fresh, not velvety or rose oil, not jammy or gourmand). It is very recognisable taif rose perfume, which is unusual and hard to find, a sort of black dry rose. There is a clear base of musk supported by light heliotrope and incense, but everything is extremely well balanced. It resembles a bit Lady Vengeance of Juliet has a gun, but less dark, therefore more versatile. It could be suited for winter and fall day/night, but also spring. I would definitely not wear on summer. The bottle is beautiful and refined, very nice to expose. If you love rose fragrances this is a safe blind buy and a compliment getter. UPDate: I compared it with another taif rose in my rose in my collection, Nina Ricci LExtase Rose Absolu and the difference is massive! This is Ok, the other isa masterpiece. 3/5

this is impossible for me to dislike. vanilla rose incense is exactly what it smells like, although this perfume has a more delightful opening and then fades within an hour into a faint sort of incense rose, heavier on the incense and not quite so much rose but you know it's there. not as sweet as i'd prefer but still been reaching for this for the past few days (also you kinda have to overspray). 💕🥰❣️ so i guess it's safe to say i love this perfume. for those who want a light amount of deep or smoky in any weather and not too syrupy, i definitely recommend this 💚💘

Really beautiful, a bit smoky rose: sweet but not infantile. Sexy, a bit dark. Smoky. Sticky in a good way. crazy cheap for what you get, stays long and turn heads. don't get distracted by crazy tacky bottle - what you get inside is classy and not girly. I have few rose fragrances ALWAYS, I adore rose and cannot live without it - and this is a serious keeper. I would recommend it over many designer fragrances and it's so much cheaper. Great smell overall and sure to please all rose lovers. 9/10

Sometimes heavy insence, sometimes heavy almond creamy rose powder. Sometimes like sweet smoke, sometimes like rose flavoured Turkish delight. Surprisingly good in almost every weather scenario (not over 30C/86F). Points off for the confusion, despite the nice scent. 8/10 Edit: I also agree with reviewer @manz1kw3

Clean and straightforward rose and incense scents, slightly feminine, but not overly sweet like other Juicy Couture perfumes, so, it can be worn by men as well. Medium sillage which means you do not need to keep on reapplying frequently. More sophisticated/ refined than other JC perfumes.

This is a beautiful incense rose, shares a lot of similarities with Club De Nuit Intense women, I am surprised not a lot of people talk about it. Royal Rose Is the refined and sophisticated version of the two, while Club De Nuit Intense is the darker and wild one.

I'm quite liking this! Not yet a full love, but it's a recent purchase and I'm still getting to know her. It is a smokey syrupy rose, but not cloyingly so. Not on my skin. On opening I get an oud feel, not overtly so but the impression is there. It is not listed, but it kind of smells like it. It is definitely a full on knock you in the head loud first blast. But on my perfume eating skin, it gets tamed around the 30/40 minute mark and lingers close to the skin, like a purring kitty. She's not a dark or goth rose by a long stretch, but is definitely sultry and mysterious in her own way. If you dare come closer you might get to know her better... I recommend her for chilly nights, autumn and winter. Could definitely be used for formal events.

I ran across a sample of this in my sample stash this morning, and it REALLY surprised me. I'm not even sure where I got it from! At first, it was peppery/spicy to my nose, but I very quickly realized it was like an eastern incense! It has the dark scent of incense and the smoky of a fall fire. It would be a beautiful fall room fragrance! I can't really say that I smell "rose" in particular, but this was interesting enough that I took the sample with me to work today to spray again. It does smell similar to Poison, but there's something in Poison that turns me off (actually, I feel like all Dior perfumes tend to have the same base to it, so I don't own any). There's a bit more freshness to this that I appreciate over Dior.

I love rose and this is a rose with character. This is a rose with an old soul and a young heart. Royal Rose’s rose is approachable but... Why might this rose not be for every rose admirer out there, because she’s a smoking rose. This is a modern smoking rose. Yes, I said this rose smokes and not the roll your own loose tobacco; she smokes e cigarettes and uses the natural tobacco oil not the fruity stuff. The smoke in Royal Rose swirls around the musk and gives the rose a sterile metallic twang in the dry down. Royal Rose is versatile enough to be appreciated at a sticky floored dive bar, whilst outdoor dining or even when shopping for disposable face mask and hand sanitizer.

I'm kind of lost as to why this isn't more popular. It's gorgeous and quite different from the other roses in my collection (I have a good few). It starts out a boozy, incense-y rose. There is some smoke but I don't get that unless I put nose to skin. There is also some sweetness but it's not the star of the show-- that would be the dry down. It has a powdery, almost almondy, almost woodsy dry down that I can't get enough of. Longevity is good, roughly 6-8 hours. One spray to the chest gave me wafts through my mask most of the day at work. I would agree that it's probably not a safe blind buy for most but I'm glad I did!

Royal Rose is a sweeter rose against a lighter more powdery incense. I was lured in by the prominence of the powdery-amber-smoky accords but this is more dry than powdery. The rose is more like rose syrup or rose liqueur softened by heliotrope. The rose seems more prominent than the incense, which is there but in the background. It clings to fabric for days. I can see this being a good comforting scent on colder nights. It's a feminine and sweet pink princessy cloud.

I blind ordered Royal Rose because it was on clearance where I usually order my frags. This bottle is HUGE lol the box alone was as big as a dolls box! The longevity and sillage are great and this is a very strong fragrance. The rose is big and loud, but how else should the rose be in a frag called Royal Rose? It's rich with just a hint of incense. Pretty and bold. Royal it is!

Warm-spicy powdered incense with dried roses. Like burning potpourri. This reminds me quite a bit of how the houses of my parents' Persian friends smelled when I went there as a child. Definitely a more dark, gothic and wintery take on a rose scent. I infinitely prefer this as a smoky rose take when compared to Noyz Love Club, though it's not an everyday kind or scent!

I like the rose in this scent but the incense in this scent keeps making me look around to see who is smoking cigarettes. Even though it reminds me of cigarette smoke I still like the scent. It’s not my favorite but I don’t hate. I’m glad a i was able to get a sample because it’s not something I would want to spend my $$ on.

A bouquet of sweet roses and powdery heliotrope preserved in a vase of incense. The incense gets much stronger on my skin as it dries down while the florals recede. Perfect for cool/cold weather, definitely leaves a trail. An unexpected yet very pleasant showing from Juicy Couture.

Very little sweetness of me. All i smell is insence and heavy rose, no fresh rose. I don't detect any other flowers. I am happy as it's what I have expected and wanted to smell like. It lasts around 5h on me.

It smells like someone threw flowers and candy into a campfire...It's odd to my nose...Very odd... But, I don't hate it...In fact I can't stop smelling it...I don't know how I feel about it...

I love, love, love, Taif roses. Seriously. Unfortunately, this one smells of cigarette ash and taif rose to me. My nose seems to pick up the incense note to the exclusion of everything else except that rose. It's like a beautiful lady rose with a cigarette stuck on one of her thorns. I've had mine now for at least 6 or 8 months and my perception of it hasn't changed. Test first, or at least be certain you can return, bc based on the reviews this smells very different to a lot of noses.

I was like “oh I want roses and cigarettes” and then I got a sample of this and now I’m like “eww roses and cigarettes”. It’s not that bad tbh but it’s just not something I need in my collection. At all. If I didn’t already have JHAG Lady Vengeance (my leather jacket scent), I would be a lot more excited about Royal Rose. If I had a bf that wanted me to pretend to be into sports, I’d wear this to the bar to watch the game. This is my first juicy fragrance and likely to be the only one in my small collection for a while.

Smells like an actual rose. The most nauseating perfume I have ever smelled. Entirely too overwhelming. And I don't mind rose fragrances. The Rose dominant Carolina Herrera flanker smells yummy (I think it’s called Blush.) Rose by Bath & Body Works smells great too, but this, this is too much for my nose, this is pure rose.

I was really looking forward to a fragrance with rose and incense but this is terrible. It smells like burnt syrup. I'm soooo glad I bought a card sample of this for $2 first because this would absolutely been a waste of money.

VERY STRONG! Was excited to try this but all I got was insense and musk. Insense took over this fragrance on my skin. Had to scrub it off but it still lingered. Even gave me a headache. Another JC scent off my want list.

This is quite horrific in my opinion. The mix of rose and incense in top notes is just a terrible smell. Later on it's just incense and I hate it. A big NO for me.

This was a blind buy that did not work out. I dislike musk and oriental fragrances so this didn't work out for me. No more blind buying!

This is my first time sampling anything from this line. It will probably be my last. This is horrid. It smells like some kind of strange Chemical mixture that is unidentifiable. I cannot believe some have compared this to Love Chopard, a perfume I own and love. Love Chopard is a beautiful rose perfume, this is a chemical mess. It is also giving me a headache. Really bad.

Hated it from the very first sniff. I guess strong traditional rose and incense notes are just not for me.

I have a growing fondness of dark rose fragrances and receiving a full bottle of Royal Rose is definitely very exciting! Royal Rose started just like I wish it was. Taif rose with dusty incense-y background. Just hoping to have a drier, possibly darker version of Nina Ricci L'extase Rose Absolue that I adore. Love love love! Except that I might just judged too fast. Lol. It could be my body chemistry, but this beautiful Taif rose hid behind the smoke not so long after (about after 30 mins). And I was left with bitter smoke with a very sheer bit of rosy background. This part, unfortunately, stayed for good. For some reason, this state of scent is sooo dry that makes me thirsty. So alone, for me Royal Rose is like an undeveloped romance. Starting real promising - like a first date that is highly successful, almost like you know that you've met 'The One', your heart pounds so fast that it keeps you going, but then it turns into another completely different direction: friendzone. I however, found a way to keep this romance alive. Now I choose to layer Royal Rose with Cartier's Goutte de Rose. The notes in Goutte de Rose may bury the smoke a bit. I like to think that the sweet rose of Goutte de Rose helps the rose note to come back to the surface. The result I am getting now is slightly sweeter rose with powdery, dusty incense. But again, this is on my skin. It could work differently for another person. If you're getting the Taif Rose with the smoky incense in the background without help, I envy you. Big time!

I was out running errands today & saw this new Juicy fragrance so went in for a sample. Let me say, I've never worn a JC scent before as they are all too sweet & sugary for me--my daughter loves them though! ;) Ok, so let me be honest--this one is not sweet, but interesting in an odd "Creed Oud" kind of way, haha! I know, nothing is like Creed--just trying to place this odd-but-nice woody-floral blend. On my skin, the "incense" notes smell very woody and earthy. But not in a patchouli way--thus the Oud reference. With the first spray, I felt it was an interesting fragrance, but needed more flowers for me. So--I had sampled a rose fragrance earlier on one arm, and noticed that it was SO nice blended with my earlier sample! The mix created a more balanced floral rose scent on my skin. Maybe new Juicy will be a good mixer with other rose fragrances. Either way, I do like it, but it may not be for everyone. Check it out!!

I got this so I can complete the line, but what a major disappointment it is! Out of the three, this one is really out of place. The other two perform beautifully, and altough this is a very nice smokey, sugared rose, it does not last longer than half an hour. And when I say that, I am being generous. I am a one spray kind of a person with all my fumes, but I just sprayed 3 sprays of this to my neck ten minutes ago, and I can't smell a thing. I run my fingers over my neck and smelled them, and there is nothing there. Nobody will ever smell this on you, heck you won't even be able to smell it on yourself, so I'd stay away from RR. Not worth a dime! Update: I ended up returning this. Like I said, worthless.

I adore this fragrance. It has a haunting, gothic quality like an old church rose garden at night with the incense still drifting in the air - a very evocative fragrance. It lasts forever on me and definitely draws people closer. Recently on a trip to Florence, I visited a fragrance atelier specialising in custom fragrances for a special anniversary gift from my husband. They had a niche selection of house fragrances to help clients get an idea of what they do. when I listed the notes that resonated with me, they offered a sample sniff from their vials - it was Rose Oud almost identical to what I loved about Royal Rose. I did not need to look further. I have the fragrance I love. Divine.

Ah I am sad. I loved this perfume but the longevity is so poor for me, not even an hour. It was everything I was looking for in a rose fragrance too. Very pretty, not something I ever would have expected JC to put out, but actually all the perfumes in the Regal line smell great and very opposite of a typical juicy perfume. Definitely would have got a full bottle if it lasted longer but who knows, maybe I'll still grab it anyways, it was perfect.

I tried JC Glistening Amber and thought it was definitely unisex and excellent. I’m doing the same with Royal Rose with hopes that it’s just as good. I personally think JC knew no male would buy a JC fragrance marketed for men, so they devised this scheme to get fragcomm talking about these hidden gems marketed towards women but can clearly be worn by men. It worked, because a few men are trying their regal collection and really digging them

I’m addicted to this! This is primarily rose incense and rose syrup. Very Eastern vibe. It starts off very dry and huge projection of incense. This stage lasts for a good half hour. Then it morphs into an addictive syrupy sweet jammy rose which is my favourite part. Lasts days and has fantastic projection. It will choke you out if you overspray! Overall I really love it! Perfect for fall.

This is actually pretty good, like surprisingly good for a Juicy Couture perfume. Unfortunately, I just don't wear it enough - there are a lot of perfumes in my collection and I always end up reaching for something else. If anyone wants a full bottle, I'm willing to sell or trade. Canada only please (only because shipping is expensive).

So excited to try this! I hope it's available in Australia. Rose, heliotrope, incense and musk are some of my favorite notes, and I love balsamic smoky fragrances particularly with winter finally coming up here. So over the usual pink, girly sweet JC!

Can't wait to try this one and Majestic woods! Juicy Couture is FINALLY growing up along with me and putting out stuff someone over 25 can wear in public? Yes, please! These sound very interesting.

This perfume is very old school smelling to me, tbh it’s not a bad fragrance just not something I’d wear, it’s leaving my collection soon 🙂

I think my nose is broken. To me it smells like rooibos tea with condensed milk.

The dry down on clothes is divine! Lasts 12hrs++ soft powdered smoky rose 🌹
