Viva la Juicy

Have you every seen someone on the street who looked nothing like you and found yourself facing the overwhelming desire to follow them home to see what their bedroom looked like? Okay, perhaps that comes off as a little voyeuristic or perverse, but it's nothing more than human curiosity! This is the sensation delivered by Viva la Juicy. The first time I encountered Viva la Juicy, I did not actually get to smell it. It was in fact, on the bedroom dresser of a complete stranger. NO, I did not follow a stranger home and then sneak into her bedroom. My boyfriend and I were visiting his sister, and she let us stay in her roommate's bedroom while she was away. I had never met the girl before, but I was taken aback by the unabashedly normal-girly character of my surroundings as I tried my best to "make myself at home." There were Hello Kitty decals all over her walls, pink curtains, pink cheetah print bedspread, an enormous fluffy white elongated teddy bear in place of a pillow, and on the dresser in front of the mirror, was Viva la Juicy. For some reason, I could not muster up the courage to ask my boyfriend's sister if I could sample her roommate's perfume. Every time I tried to ask, my tongue was tied. It was like being in a museum display dedicated to the contemporary, all-American twenty-something. It was right in front of me and yet I couldn't interact with it. When I returned home and bought a mini of Viva la Juicy at the pharmacy, I tried it out and it totally met my expectations. It was just like being back in our host's bedroom. Sweet, fruity in a pineapple body mist kind of way, thoroughly synthetic, generic, vanillic, CGI florals throughout, and in it's own way, pure. Viva la Juicy is the smell of the idea of present day America. It's like an olfatory "melting pot". Sure, everyone's idea of America is different, but there is something so profoundly vacuous and romantically generic about Viva la Juicy, I have to admit it's extremely compelling. It doesn't smell specifically like caramel or fruit or flowers. It smells like a young girl with blonde highlights and Ugg boots over light grey leggings, who is concerned with the present, the evening to follow, her birthday, and not much else. It's like the adolescence... hell, like the LIFE I could never have (and don't actually want to have) in my country. I refer to it as "The Jesus Camp Fragrance" when talking about it with my boyfriend. I call it that because it is an intense youthful expression of an ideal that I could never come within miles of attaining. It's a lobotomy in a bottle. Who doesn't occasionally wish for the relief of a temporary zombification? Is that not the present-day American way? I can dig it (if only in the form of a fragrance). Like America itself, Viva la Juicy knows no season, nor occasion. It's suitable to wear while doing anything your heart desires. I'm just happy that at last I finally get to follow the stranger.. home.

just repurchased this for the first time in about 7 or 8 years. ran out of my old bottle years ago. this was my signature scent in middle and high school and my mom would buy me new bottles every year at christmas. was hoping for the nostalgia, but sadly i think they have reformulated. it just smells so different to me, but i'm wondering if my nose is just better now as i have become much more interested in fragrance. so maybe i'm just picking up different notes now. i remember it being very vanilla forward, but now it comes off way more citrus forward, which is a note i never picked up on as a young girl. i went to middle and high school in the 10's so i remember the school bus and hallways smelling like this scent, almost every girl wore it or a knockoff version (i remember smelling that one too). my seventeen magazines always had samples of this or the new scents juicy came out with. i will definitely still wear this but i just wish it had the charm of 10 years ago. definitely a perfume you want to wear with a VS pink sweatsuit or yoga pants, or of course a juicy tracksuit. if you go for a "mcbling" aesthetic this is the perfume for you. UPDATE ive been wearing this for a few hours now and its awful. it used to fade into a sweet caramel and lactonic vanilla scent, it was beautiful. now as another reviewer said, all i smell is SOUR. it smells like mixing milk with orange juice. its nasty. i'm almost worried i got a fake bottle but the packaging all seems legit. i guess they just really have changed it over the years. DO NOT BUY THIS! smells like rotten peaches. i'm very disappointed in juicy couture because i was a huge fan of this scent and even had it in my favorite scents from the nostalgia of wearing it in high school. definitely removing it.

Trying this one again for the nostalgia and also because I recently enjoyed Gucci Gorgeous Gardenia and was trying to work out what it reminded me of. The Reminds Me Of section here on Fragrantica listed VLJ but I just couldn't remember exactly how it smelled, not having owned a bottle probably for over 15 years and for some reason I only ever purchased one bottle despite liking it. Today I compared them both side by side. They are very similar fragrances but this one has a more prominent and long lasting mandarin note. It stays fruity and tart throughout whereas GGG has a more floral aspect and dries down a little creamy, powdery and clean skin-like. Viva La Juicy gets more syrupy in the dry down but retains a strong orangey peel floating in the syrup with a small dose of pleasant amber. Both are quite lovely I think, GGG I perceive as being slightly more gentle and Spring-like. This one brings back the days when fashion was colourful, spangly and covered in charms and "bling". ✨ I still love the bottle with it's chunky glass stopper and little pin necklace 🎀 I was a youngish mother when I first purchased this thinking my little daughters would also love the bottle. The era of Lelli Kelly shoes, Pastry Kicks, Strawberry Shortcake scented dolls, sequin t shirts, velour bums with diamante lettering and all things girly and Paris Hilton 😆 Sweet memories and still a great scent. I would buy either GGG or this. Both are easy to wear, sweet, fresh and mood boosting. Neither have super long-lasting power but this one is fair.

I love this perfume! The scent notes are accurate- a top note of juicy berries melts away to pollen-y flowers- the honeysuckle is super noticeable and the jasmine really rounds it down. Then, the vanilla and caramel notes stick to your skin. For me, it's the perfect blend and progression of super-sweet scents, fruit, flowers, and candy. People are critical of this perfume for being overly-feminine, or naive, or tacky- which really are also ways women were put down in the 2000's! In terms of how it smells, it's absolutely a time capsule. It's recognizable, iconic, and in-your-face with character. I haven't gotten many compliments on this one, acutally. The one I remember was from a guy who I was seeing for a bit, which meant something since he also wore decent cologne. Wearing it makes me feel sexy, sweet, and confident. If it's not for you, that's alright! As a girl who loves yoga pants, lip gloss, juicy couture (duh,) and the color pink, it's a 10/10 scent for me. Plus, I nabbed my 3.4 oz bottle of it a few years ago for just $20 at Plato's Closet, still in the box! I have a feeling an employee set it at that price point intentionally to buy it later, or maybe I just got lucky, hehe. It was one of my first big-girl perfumes, and it's near and dear to me for many reasons.

Oh wow, I liked this far more than I expected. Viva La Juicy is sweet, playful, and charming in a very effortless, feminine way. Upon first spray, I immediately get a burst of bright mandarin paired with juicy wild berries. The berries smell slightly jammy with a soft honeyed sweetness that gives the fragrance its cute, flirty personality. I pick up touches of creamy gardenia early on: slightly buttery, almost giving the top a berries and cream vibe. There’s a noticeable powdery quality as well: almost like expensive face powder or a vintage makeup compact. As the heart develops, the gourmand notes become more noticeable. The praline is warm and almost nutty with hints of toasted brown sugar, while the caramel feels silky, rich. I found that they blend perfectly into the florals. The honeysuckle smells warm and nectar-like, adding a golden sweetness to the scent. The jasmine comes across fresh, airy, and dewy, while the gardenia remains creamy, velvety, and lush throughout the wear. Together, the florals create a very feminine, romantic feeling without overpowering the sweeter notes. The dry down settles into warm amber, with hints of vanilla and caramel. I can see why Viva La Juicy was popular in the 2000's it's lovely!!!

i'm young so my opinion may be biased when i say that i don't think this fragrance pulls too youthful or immature. this smells like a woman in her 20s who spends her saturdays at the mall, loves the colour pink, is bubbly and flirty, sweet, and kind. me! it smells similar to tease by victoria's secret. it's fruity and fresh in a sugared berry way, with a beautiful creamy blend from the white florals and caramel-praline base. silage and longevity are both pretty solid, especially on clothes! i will be wearing this year-round because i think it's creamy enough for the fall and winter, yet airy and fresh enough for the spring and summer. if you like sweet feminine fragrances, you'll probably enjoy this. i prefer this more than other popular flankers like viva la juicy gold or sucre. a little synthetic leaning, but so beautifully blended that i don't entirely mind.

I got a sample of this because I’ve been in an early 2000s vibe and wanted to try a perfume from the era, and I like it much more than I expected! It smells like a sleepover watching twilight and invader zim circ. 2008-2010. I don’t normally like gourmands. This fragrance is always talked about as a gourmand and I don’t get it, the Carmel vanilla and praline are barely there so if those aren’t your thing (like me) don’t let it stop you. The notes blend together and aren’t very discernible from each other but I get fresh crisp floral + fruit the most. If you were a kid in 2008-2015 you will find this very nostalgic. As soon as I smelled it I felt taken back to the era and recognized it, although I have no idea where from exactly. It was common enough I guarantee at least one of your friends or friends moms wore it back in the day.

sweet, feminine, girly, reminds me of a rainy fall day, glittery eyeshadow, and hot pink. on first spray this smells like starfruit, amber, honeysuckle, jasmine, sandalwood, vanilla, (almost?) pear, with a slight citrus note. wore almost everyday my sophomore year of high school so it’s definitely a bit of a juvenile scent. can be heavy or cloying to some, definitely lasts for a while. the dry down scent is more sandalwood/vanilla/caramel/musk combined with the amber, honeysuckle, and berry notes. i love layering this with tease/tease crème cloud from victoria’s secret + in the stars from bath and body works. i find these scents all pair wonderfully together as they all share similar scent notes, very heavy and feminine though, recommend for wearing at the mall or for a dance/event.

This perfume means a lot to me...for one, it's the first perfume I got myself, I got it not long after I graduated high school, and it's one I just really love to use (although my bottles less than halfway through and I've had it since June '25...god i need to get over myself and use it more lol), so maybe it's that...emotional-ness that makes me love this perfume so much. The gardenia and mandarin are a wonderful and really refreshing combo! A bit of a sharp opening, but it calms down kinda nicely, it's pretty bubbly and fresh. As it dries, the vanilla and caramel shine through, and it feels really rewarding for someone like me who loves vanillics a whole bunch...a floral opening with a sweet gourmand drydown is just perfect <3 It's also a pretty safe blind buy (lol)

I've had 2 minis of this frag in the past and never thought much of it until i used the last of my 2nd mini and fell in love. It's a gorgeous, sweet and creamy floral that i personally don't think smells synthetic, like "high school" or "white trash" which I've unfortunately read on some reviews here. To each her own. Try it and see if you like it before letting a bad review deter you. No one should make you feel embarassed or regretful for buying something you like/love. I'm so happy i just got a 100ml bottle more than 50% full in a swap today, just in time for fall! EDIT: I have a back-up already! AND VLJ So Intense! AND VLJ Noir! EDIT 2: JUST bought VLJ Gold Couture, I'm all set!

This cutie is straight up a time capsule to 2008, I'm sure my older cousins had it because it smells incredibly familiar. I found it to be very heavy on mandarin at first but I don't get many berries, same with the caramel and praline, it stopped at the white flowers for me, making it seem more mature than what it's probably supposed to be (I was expecting something closer to Fantasy or Cloud). Very girly and feminine summer scent, not exactly for the youngest but I think this would fit perfectly a girl in her 20s and up, think Elle Woods type of woman. Perfect if you want something very girly but that doesn't smell like every other girl perfume on the shelf nowadays.

So today I got a new bottle of this and i don't know who reformulated this, but they ruined a masterpiece of a fragrance.It lost its deepness, woodiness, sexiness, the d n a is there, but it's not what it used to be.It's missing something.And it's not as sweet and rich as it used to be.I hate that perfume house is reformulate and make them cheaper.The liquid doesn't even look gold.Anymore, it looks more like a pink and I got a little bottle very disappointed. The original formula was so rich and concentrated, and it just smelled amazing.So definitely go vintage.If you can find the older bottles cuz, the new version of this is okay but the old one was a masterpiece

Fresh and delicious. Very mid 2000s. It smells like Versace Bright Crystal met SDJ 62 and had a yassified baby. It's giving white bikinis by the pool on sun tanned skin, smelling of cocoa and sunscreen, Katy Perry songs on the boombox and sticky, sweet soda fizzing in your cup. Queen never cry. A bit synthetic, but ultimately very pleasant and never scratchy or plastic. Smells like a non-descript coca cola scented shower gel. Easy to wear to work, gym or after a morning shower. A dumb but pretty reach. Goes extremely well with pink lip gloss. Not impressive at first, but it's very easy to understand why it's a cult favourite after a bit! It's very, veery comfy.

I first tested this in 2008 and immediately fell in love, it was one of the most beautiful scents I had ever smelled. So feminine, so elegant. However, I knew when smelling this that it was made for my granddaughter, I knew she would absolutely treasure it and I knew it would suit her more than myself, as it was a very youthful and playful scent. I was right, I bought her a bottle and it became her signature scent and I enjoyed cuddling her and getting a whiff of the beautiful fragrance. I even remember her sulking to me that she had finished her bottle, and of course I had to buy her another. I love this scent and it will always remind me of my granddaughter.

Bias here due to this being my first perfume EVER but still I loved this stuff Usually I got for sweet candy like scents or Rose floral but this one just impressed me with the Orangey smell from the initial spritz. I remember trying it on for the first time and going out with some friends and they immediately complimented it Though I will say after maybe an hour long car ride the smell was very faded, you had to get really close to me in order to smell it which can be a good or bad thing depending on the situation Along with that I just love Juicy Couture and just early 2000's/2010's so this was just the perfect first perfume for me

As for someone who hates sweet gourment notes and they usually make me feel sick to my stomach! But this beautiful star is totally balanced it's sooo attractive and sexy ! I'm a floral- musk kinda person and rarely like sweet notes in a perfume but this is just perfect and resemble alot to Victoria secret tease noir (my fav perfume) and it lasts longer then VS! I adore it and I'll always keep her in my collection and If you're a gucci flora gardenia fan you'll love it and add it to your collection. 10/10 lasts enough and great sillage, a perfectly balanced floral sweet fruity juice for every day wear.

Like many others stated, you would fear this might be a dated fragrance (Burberry Weekend, Burberry Touch, CKOne, etc.) But nooooooo. I love how it has the clean girl aesthetic vibe, like good quality hair products. Throw in that caramelly-vanilla and it's just enough to elevate it to a level that's timeless instead of frozen in one era of time. I recently got ahold of a bottle of Biosilk and when paired with this, it makes me laugh. While evocative of the early 2000s (and the last time I was actually fit and had energy!) it's still modern enough to work on this almost-middle-aged-mom!

I work as a banquet server at weddings. One night, after a wedding, I was cleaning up the hallway outside the bridal suite when I was hit with the most divine, delicious scent. Turns out the bride had accidentally dropped and shattered a perfume bottle, spilling the fragrance everywhere. I didn’t care about the mess - I absolutely had to know what perfume it was. It was Viva La Juicy. I wore this in 2010 as a thirteen year old, and I worried that wearing it again would feel too juvenile. But the scent is just. too. good. I don’t feel juvenile wearing this at 28.

Oh wow, I see why people like this one and have for so long. Somehow I have never tried it until now. I received a free travel spray with a purchase, and maaan I really love it. I was thrown off when reading the scent profile showing praline and caramel in the base notes. I honestly assumed I wasn’t going to like it because I’m not a huge fan of those scents. But this one is done just so perfectly. It’s very sweet and loud in a way, but at the same time there are a lot of subtleties to it. I’m definitely going to get a full size one my travel spray is out.

everyone loves to call this one very "high school girl's first perfume" "generic" etc but genuinely this is the perfume i ALWAYS get consistent compliments on. i've literally had people stop me on the street to ask me what it is / why i smell so good. i mostly hear that i smell very 'girly', berry, sweet, and clean. sure, maybe it's a little pedestrian to most people, but i think this is a really accessible option for an everyday perfume that suits most occasions and outfits. my partner says she can even smell this on clothes i sprayed it on days after.
