Nin-Shar

I ordered a sample of Nin-Shar almost a year ago and dismissed it as too sweet. But then, every now and then the sample would just appear around and I had to smell it and spritz a little on my wrist. Amazed as I was I discovered that I really started to like this fragrance. So how does it smell? It's definitely sweet, but not caramel sweet, or vanilla pudding sweet. This one is the most luxurious, rose-raspberry-a hint of strawberry, acacia honey and a dash of vanilla and a sprinkle of lime zest sweet little, but long lasting fragrance. It smells tasty. Nothing harsh or edgy here. It actually smells so good I wish somebody had started making jams or fruit compotes like that. I was very tempted to lick my wrist but managed to resist. I'm surprised oud is listed as a second strongest note, as to me is almost undetectable. Nothing like oud I know from rose-oud combos. I also don't smell patchouli. From the base notes It's the incense I can smell but again, not the incense I know, but the very sophisticated, top note of incense. Anyway, 10 months later and after many 'jammy' wrist sampling it grew on me so much I'm ready for a full bottle.

It's easy to dismiss this one as one of the many oud & rose combination scents that we have had a slew of in the last year or so as oud came into vogue. What caught my attention with this one was the mention of 'rose liquor' as an accord and rightly so, as this is what makes it special. Nin-Shar is an opulent oriental. It's not floral enough to classify as one, nor woody enough to fit into that category either. There is oud, there is rose. But the oud is melting and the vibrant and fragrant red roses have been crushed whole into jam. Add to this drippings of dark rum and sticky berry compote and you have Nin-Shar. A boozy oriental fruity-floral. It's somehow a perfect mess of ingredients coming together to make something that smells rich and exotic. Colourful, sensual, decadent rather than refined, if the inspiration came from Babylon, I'd attribute this to the goddess Ishtar rather than the Hanging Gardens. Very interested to try more from this house.

At first, I found this scent a bit overwhelming. Now, I can't imagine life without it. I've never been a great fan of rose-oud or rose-patchouly (or all together) combinations, but this one is exceptional in my opinion. It evokes an indulgent mix of red wine, slightly tart(slightly gone off even) apples, rose jam, and a hint of vanilla cream. The juxtaposition of sweet rose jam with bitter, medicinal patchouli creates an intriguing effect, almost reminiscent of rotten apples to me. Sounds wrong, but somehow it is so right here. While I don't detect oud as prominently as in classic Middle Eastern-inspired rose-oud perfumes, the woody notes are certainly noticeable. Nin-Shar is anything but linear; it's a complex blend that balances sour, woody, boozy, herbaceous, spicy, and jammy-sweet elements. The development and dry down are truly amazing. If you weren't initially fond of it, I challenge you to give it a second chance.

Captivating fragrance! Thanks for DresdenDoll for the sample and review below. She described it perfectly, for Nin-Shar is so rich, based on Turkish Rose absolute, rose liquor, davana essence, out and incense absolute. It is like spoiled odalisque on silk cushions, so rich, intense, so drunk and happy. Base from bourbon vanilla, cedar and pathouli is divine. It is jammy rose AND powdery at the same time, rosy petals are everywhere. Has something remotely similar with Artisan's Drole de Rose, (instead of violets, layers of artemisia inside the rose) yet louder, better, more oriental, balsamic. 10 out of 10 from me, as from rose-lover.

I get spicy wood rose liquer on first spray which sets it apart from my other rose and rose oud perfumes. The fruity dry down on this is gorgeous. I've now realized I love fruity ouds such as this and Ojars Velours. The Oud is not too heavy so safe for those not into skanky ouds. I loved the sample so much I bought the presentation set which also includes a 7 ml travel spray in a little drawer in the box. The presentation set is absolutely stunning and centre piece worthy.

Tart spicy rose opening, becomes a slightly vanillic & boozy rose-oud combo. The oud isn't overwhelming as this combo can sometimes lend to, it plays a nice woody supporting role to the rose. There's a nice bit of camphoraceous patchouli to add some dimension. Projects quite loudly on my skin, definitely leaves a trail. Looks like it will be lasting strong for the day. Would work all year but summer, since this combo can be much too overwhelming in the heat.

It smells like slightly fermented fruits and berries with some rose petals and delicious woody base with a nice honey/vanilla touch. It’s not gourmand, but I would say it’s on the edge of gourmand, because I’m picking mostly woody, ambery and rosy facets with some yummy fruity undertones. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

Nin-Shar is an intensely fruity and transparent rose and oud fragrance. I don't know why the scent feels so fruity, because there is only a littlebit of citrus in the top, and the fragrance doesn't smell citrusy. It's more like a sweet four red fruits kind of smell (Like Twinings Four Red Fruits tea). The rose is quite watery and transparent, and the oud is super polite and also a tad on the transparent side. Nin-Shar feels very bright, benevolent and youthful. It's like a rose oud fragrance made with pastel colours. I think this would be an excellent choice as someones first encounter with oud in a perfume and also with the rose oud combination. The fragrance is pleasant, easy to wear and easy to understand. Personally I enjoy perfumes with a little more ooomph, but it's a nice scent. Sillage is medium and longevity is good. I get around 6-7 hours out of this.

Rather nice and moderate performing with a bright fruity rose opening a wine-like crispness moves in after 10mins. The patchouli is a clean Chanel-type patchouli. Green nuances are soft. This feels like a good cotton shirt without feeling sour or soapy. Feminine, medium textured and with just enough crispness. Once the lightly sweet rose opening softens it behaves on my skin like a softer YSL Rouge Velours which is a love for me as I already have that there’s no need for me to investigate this beauty. That said, RV doesn’t work in heat so this one with its fruitier and brighter feel, might work better when it’s warmer and I’ll try again. Very very nice.

The fragrance was so outstanding in store with it's beautiful red liquid, that I had to try it. There's many things I don't like about the notes though. I can sense lots of powdery rose, oud and incense. Those notes are not my favorites by far. But it's still kind of interesting to smell. The incense and oud notes remind me of sauna in the older type of house, where the woody walls are soaked in different aromas. So, it's kind of interesting. I also think it's fun to read how people have so colorful thoughts about it. I like it, but as a masculine fragrance, suitable for men. I wouldn't wear it myself.

transparent and sweet rose fragrance! opens with citruses and rose (of course). When citruses leave, they make way for the amber, a tiny bit of incense and woody notes. the incense + woody combo reminds me of sandalwood notes. feeling so nostalgic... I enjoy this one thru and thru... too bad my skin eats it up too quickly. only 3 hours-ish on me.

Nin-shar begins as a translucent and tart honeyed rose cordial, before evolving into the most delectable rose-infused red licorice. The overall vibe feels marginally edible. Reminds me of childhood toys that looked and smelled delicious, but ultimately tasted of nothing. A dreamy, mouth-watering rose with several stages and flavours.

The bergamot with the artemisia turns into a sour citrus on me and ends up smelling like tomato plant leaves with citronella. Its luxury price tag does not reflect its underwhelming scent.

having bought the luxury coffret of the extrait with chic 7ml atomizer (=57ml) to € 470 or 460 [490 !] euros I had expected more performance by taking in texturally the notes of the perfume. now I find it quite underwhelming in its performance while all the parafernalia (flacon, atomizer, the white luxe coffret) are to die for. I am aware that in some circles (the Roja Dove and Serge Lutens ones, combined with blatant egotrippery and ultrahigh prizes) sometimes underwhelmency and demureness count as ultrachic but to this circles this giorgio-poison-obsession-knowing-oudh infini-melodie d'amour-coco adept does not belong. just now in applying I noted a tad of fecality so real oudh is used (of this I was certain) and I love rose-oudh combos (and not the blahblah about them) but I had expected more of this particular scent. my comparison with Histoires de Parfums Pétroleam is to the detriment of Nin-Shar, unfortunately. well sometimes one does buy a perfume which isn't as we'd expected it to be. and that price I've already forgotten. I am still glad the beautiful flacon with agreeable perfume sits in my collection, but pop me a Dusita Oudh Infini, Gale Hayman Beverly Hills, Giorgio Beverly Hills Red, Montale Attar and Louban and Aoud Purple Roses and Ex Idolo Thirty Three anytime.

Fruity rose-chouli, I too, smell raspberries, or some kind of fruit. The oud is very subtle, barely noticeable to me. The rose is very present, but it's more of a rose petal jam than the fresh floral . I definitely pick up on the artemisia, it's a little herbal and though I'm not a fan of herbal, this isn't ruining it for me. To me this is a very western take on oriental - subtle, not too intense on any aspect, well blended sweet and polite. Very enjoyable, but I'm not aching to buy or wear this, for me it just lacks the wow factor that leaves the impact. I guess I'm looking for a more authentic cultural experience when I try orientals, something that will transport me to another world. Would be a great choice for those who like the oriental feel but don't need the culture shock. Second testing: very herbal on the dry down. Strong artemisia still not for me.

As someone who loves rose and oud combos, I'm not a big fan of this. It opens as fresh/spicy then I get the patchouli with jasmine and a hint of rose. The oud comes in later but I personally can't smell the vanilla in this, at least not prominently. To me, this is a leafy/green/herbal type rose oud combo. If that sounds like you're thing, you'd probably like this. However, if you're searching for more of a sensual, dry, spicy etc type of rose oud combo, This might not be what you're looking for. After it settles, I find it becomes a lot more pleasant as the smoky, oud, sandalwood vibe comes in. There is vanilla but it's barely noticeable and just adds a bit of sweetness to it. Safe to say that I don't like the opening of this fragrance but overall it's quite pleasant. It's just pretty underwhelming in my opinion.

Bitter Vodka, & patchouli roses. When i first a applied it on it strike with a huge blast of alcohol (mostly vodka) with bitter grapefruit. Quite fizzy and alcoholic, like a none virgin cocktail. Then goes quite heavy on the patchouli, incense, and sharp as ginger. I can sense artemisia, vanilla, patchouli, roses, incense, oud, and lime, and i can't detect jasmines, cedar, or sandalwood. This is quite sharp and bitter, and it's inspired by Babylon and its Hanging Gardens. I don't know, but it's kind of not presenting what it should present. It's quite fair and a must for sharp & thick roses, patchouli, and incense mix lover.

This really grew on me, I LOVE how very fruity and effervescent this is, but also dark and opulent. I get a very yummy red fruit,(probably raspberry) combined with the oud , it feels like pomegranate, mixed with champagne bubbles, there is of course the rose with the vanilla, that never turns too sweet, followed by the velour- woodsy notes. I don't get strong oud or patchouli. I find rose +patch/rose+oud perfumes to be a bit too much and predictable , not this, this I can wear every day. Performance is very good, not beastmode but lasts good 4-5 hours, first 2 hours excellent siage

This perfume sure is an ode to roses. Picture this: A young woman is sitting in her reading nook, curled up, with a book in her hands. On the table near her, there is a lush bouquet of roses, tied with a purple ribbon. In her right hand, she hold a glass of liquor and sipps slowly, as the words settle in her thoughts. If you look at her now, she seems so mature, but if you take a peek at the book's cover, you'll be surprised to discover that she's reading fairytales. This is how Nin Shar is. A perfume between innocence and maturity. It may look simple, but it is yet so deep.

-I was wearing one of my signature scents- Delina Exclusif by PdM..which is a beast mode fragrance...but this one cancelled that out. An impressive feat. -I couldn’t detect my SOTD (Delina Exclusif) upon trying this on skin. -This might be another Turkish Rose + oud scent... but it comes across totally different from Delina Exclusif. -Unfortunately, it dries down to a messy floral blend on my skin. -Silage: Good, according to feedback from those around me. -Longevity: Unsure (as i was testing others too) -Projection: Unsure (as i was testing others too) -Not fbw.
