Another Oud

I wanted to know what Oud smelled like. Based on reviews from this website, Juliette Has a Gun Another Oud, sounded modern, accessable, and a travel size was fairly inexpensive, so this was the scent I chose. I am unsure why people need a "Starter Oud" fragrance. It makes the ingredient sound terrifying. Like too much oud will send you into the throws of madness!! Mwhahahahahahaha! But many here said this was a good "starter oud", so this was another reason why I chose Another Oud. I excitedly sprayed this on a card, terrified to spray it on my skin. I just couldn't wait to find out what this rare Agarwood tree sap smelled like! It smelled like... tree sap. My father was a lumberjack and he would come home with something he called "tree gum" that you could chew and it made your breath smell like trees. It was some type of gummy tree sap, and that is what this smelled like on a card. I really didn't know what all the fuss was about. Fearless, I sprayed this on my arm, and it was just... beautiful. Warm, smooth, creamy, a hint of spicy...just a lovely magical, almost masculine, scent. I did not get raspberries at first, but I do get a hint of sweetness in the dry down. I love this magical scent. I love to wear it to bed. I love to spray it under gourmand fragrances, and under deep berry scents. I ordered a full bottle. And now that I know what Oud smells like (with my sanity intact) I can pick up that fragrance note in my Delina Exclusif. I immediately searched for some other affordable oud fragrances. I ordered a 9ml of Jo Malone's Velvet Rose and Oud, and a full size of Montale Honey Aoud...again being cautious, so as not to delve into MADNESS! I cannot wait to find out what oud with roses smells like, and what oud with honey and cinnamon smells like. I'm assuming, since I started with this fabulous synthetic "starter oud", that I will survive the experience... Wait...aren't all perfume notes synthetic?

I was very surprised by this fragrance and I'm glad I tried this one of this house first. Given the reviews, I was a bit skeptical or rather on guard and anticipating not enjoying it (unwise, I know). I love Oud and have smelled a few amazing ones. But when I spritzed this it was an instant love and I don't know why! I am not a fan of raspberry because I feel I over did raspberry or rather the 90's overdid raspberry(BBW). But this just smelled great to me. The entire composition is delicate in my opinion and makes for a great introduction to Oud in general. I definitely recommend trying this if you are leery of launching into a full blown barnyardy/and or medicinal/bandaidish Oud. I feel the Ambroxan is really gorgeous in this and it really softens the Oud that is there. I find this super light, sexy and warm. Like a warm, promising, breeze. This is really great for an early evening mixer or cocktail hour IMO, and I believe it is a perfect Oud fragrance for the marketplace where you won't blast people away. All in all, the kind of Oud you can spritz and go right out the door, instead of spraying and waiting 30 minutes for the dry down "Safety zone" before going out among people. I didn't find the raspberry very synthetic and remember, I'm tired of raspberry. Longevity was very good for me, about six hours and I didn't spray full sprays. I would invest in a FB. <3

Another Oud is a light and unisex oud with a raspberry chord that gives it a soft and gentle quality. It’s perfect for both men and women. This oud is great for everyday wear, no matter the season. It won’t make you feel out of place or like you’re wearing something weird. The opening notes have a pleasant and slightly cold bergamot, followed by a non-sugary raspberry. The raspberry chord is really intoxicating and unexpected. It surprised me at first when I first sniffed it. It’s a perfect and fascinating combination that sets it apart from other ouds that may be too overpowering or earthy. As the oud wears on, the ambroxan becomes more pronounced, with a musky background that’s not too overpowering or unpleasant. The oud itself is pleasant, light, with a smoky vein that sets on the skin without being overpowering. It’s a “civilized” oud that exudes elegance. Overall, I really enjoy Another Oud. It’s a unique oud that’s quiet and politically correct. It’s persistent, muted, and has good longevity on my skin.

One of the best ouds! Another Oud, along with Midnight Oud, are two for the best ouds I've tried in the past year. In Another Oud, the woody, rich oud is obvious from the beginning. Accompanied by a hint of raspberry, which adds a very delicate accord of sweet fruitiness that, in turn, adds a faint delicious depth to Another Oud while maintaining it's oud-iness without ever turning it into a gourmand or an outright fruity scent. Meanwhile, the amrboxan, barely noticeable as well, serves to cool & lighten the scent without changing the smell. Excellent utilization of it here. The resultant smell is a a light, cool, soft, & airy rich oud smell with a mild hint of raspberry fruitiness. Absolutely beautiful! What makes it even better is that this is a unique smell. There are not a lot of fragrances that smell like this. A versatile winter wear. Being a light oud with a mild fruity accord makes it suitable for occasions & causal wear alike. Another Oud gets a "Love"! I really do love it.

This one will forever be in my fall/winter collection. I've gone through 2 big bottles and on my third bottle now and its half full. I dont think this is a safe blind buy and you'll either hate it or love it. First initial spray comes off harsh but the magic is in the dry down. It's sexy, seductive, warm, spicy, oudy and delicious with a hint of sweetness from the raspberry. The raspberry is not a gourmand raspberry its more of a realistic raspberry and it mixes so well with the oud. As a woman I absolutely love this. This fragrance will always have me in a chokehold. When fall/winter comes around I cant wait to bring this baby out. As for the longevity its absolutely beast mode. I've taken a shower and can still smell it on my skin. I get over 10 hours of wear. Ambroxan just sticks to my skin like glue.

Really another Oud! It is an interesting parfum, with whispers of raspberry and musk..coming together with bergamot and ambroxan remaining in the background, light. Obviously the Oud is the main protagonist of this beautiful composition! hit me really leaves a trail heady, sexy, unique and somewhat mysterious...is very well done!! The Oud is not heavy, but there is the right way. I like how the other notes give bright and color to the composition,making it bright and fantastic! This is modern and charismatic. The sillage is moderate, and longevity is quite good. I really like this perfume... Love!! ❤ Sillage: 7./10 Longevity: 8.5/10 Scent: 9/10 Overall: 9/10

I once went to a department store where the sales assistant told me that all Juliet Has A Gun fragrances contain 'only natural ingredients'. After I laughed in her face, I walked away and came back to try this. I'm glad I did. It's rather remarkable. Like some reviewers here, I enjoy synthetic oud and find it rather calming. The real stuff can smell awful (can, not 'always'). This doesn't. It smells smooth and elegant, almost not there and just a part of your skin. Not as fruity as you might think with a beautiful ambroxan dry down that isn't at all scratchy or unpleasant. Just beautiful! Lasts okay, though.

This is the perfume for which I receive the most compliments, from friends to strangers on the street. It has a large sillage and is very long lasting. When I get into a car or enter a room wearing this, I really do get people saying "wow you smell great". That is one of the goals for me of wearing perfume! The oud and raspberry are lovely together. Its a sexy scent not really appropriate for the office, but I love it everywhere else. Some might feel its more of a winter scent, but its magic on a hot sultry summer night. I love it, and have a large bottle. When that is done I'll buy another.

I like the scent of this parfume very much, it is a good scent for the beginners of oud scents. But it's very weak. I have to spray a lot, to smell it a little. However, it doesn't matter how much of it you spray, it will go away after 20 min. Also with another parfume from Juliette Has a Gun, 'Lady Vengeance I had the same experience about longetivity, very very weak. So I wouldn't reccomend this brand because it parfumes doesn't last at all. The price you pay is too much for a parfume wich dissappears after 20 minutes.

Oud for a summer day. This lovely mixes up the scent profile that is so common with oud, and gives it some more freshness to balance the woodiness of the oud. It's strong out of the gate, performs well, and the warmth of sunshine brings out all the best qualities here. This is one of my favorites from JHAG, feeling modern, unique, and sexy. If you like the main notes in it, it's a safe blind buy.

I will admit I love Juliette has a Gun, so I'm biased toward their fragrances. Whether it's an aspect of their manufacture, or their source, the products just work for me. This oud is simple, clean, and smells amazing on me. I love woody orientals and spicy orientals, so that's not a surprise. If you like things like Poison, or Black Opium, you will like this.

I really do not understand the fuzz, it is truly another generic oud. Nothing special, no additional layers. I would agree it is woody, aromatic, but there is nothing sweet, nor fruity. Honestly, did not expect such disappointment according the reviews indeed. staying power is the best in it in general..

I love this smell but its definetly not a safe blind buy. I love the sharpness and a bit of synthetic feeling but not everyone would like it. It starts with a very strong smell but after an hour it becomes more intimate which is disappointing for me

This scent is so addictive to me - I can't stop sniffing my wrist every time I wear it. It's very quickly becoming one of my S-tier fragrances, but I do recommend sampling it first. It's definitely not for everyone.

I love this! I typically rotate around feminine scents but I tried this at the flea market and fell in love. A smoky, slightly sweet oud! Perfect for cold weather. This inspired me to try more unisex scents.

My personal best... I like it !!! Basic but sophisticated... Modern but classy!!!

Another Oud, a sequel to the great Midnight Oud? It's hard to believe at first, but give it some time and it makes perfect sense. Midnight Oud is swathed in a cocoon of traditional middle-eastern notes. Midnight dances on the line between overtly masculine and feminine, being both and neither at once. Similarly, Another Oud manages to evade gender classification. However, it does so by straddling that line, with one foot on either side, and it completely casts off any traditional sentiments with its note selection too. The ambroxan/woodsy tones/bergamot is far too common in many 'blue' freshie men's fragrances, and the fluffy sweet musk/raspberry is frequently seen in women's perfumes. Another Oud combines both of these with a resulting perfume that is glittering and bright with smokey, pleasantly sharp, highlights and cozy sweet undertones. The bergamot burns up under the oud, but the raspberry, which is not candy sweet but instead slightly sour and mouthwatering, persists the whole way through. The fuzzy, sweetly musky base is familiar from other JHAG perfumes and makes Another Oud very wearable despite the intense oud. Interestingly, Another Oud flits between warm and cool as it shifts between ambroxan, oud, raspberry, and vanilla-y musk. I overall prefer the slight stank in Midnight Oud, and wish the oud here was even more smokey, but I am impressed by Another Oud regardless!

I actually really enjoy this scent. It was one of the first oud perfumes I smelled, and kicked off what is now a healthy obsession with the material in all its forms. Maybe because of that, it has a special place in my olfactory memory. The first burst gives smoky woods, with a touch of sweetness from the raspberry. Now that I’ve smelled high quality ouds and sharpened my senses, I can tell easily that this is synthetic oud, but I think it’s still a safe and pleasant one. I much prefer this to anything from Montale or Mancera. This is at least well-balanced and playful. Montale and Mancera’s synthetic ouds slap you across the face and forces its tongue down your throat like a drunk party girl. Another Oud doesn’t quite seduce you to bed, but it gives you flirty looks across the dance floor. Sometimes that’s all I want. If this lasted a bit longer, I would actually “Love” it. But because of it’s poor performance (2-3 hours tops, even on fabric), it’s down to a ‘Like” for me. Nevertheless, compared to other niche oud scents, the price is pretty decent, so I have a full bottle of this that I use liberally, when going out to the store, or on my daily walks. Because of the short performance, I consider this a daytime scent. I put it on and forget about it while I’m going about my day.

Super synthetic lab-brewed oud with a rather raspy fake raspberry and some robust, no-nonsense artificial musk beneath. Fine if you're trying to decide if you even like oud at all, or go for very modern treatments, but to me it's just a pretty harsh, stripped-down, rip-it-up-and-start-again approach to the old' rose-'n-oud routine. Now I've smelled around more, it's more conventional, tactful, and slightly more natural remixes of that I like more - Lancome L'Autre Oud for instance (which came first, that "other oud" or this "another oud" I wonder?), or at the grown-up and niche end, Diptqyque Oud Palao. Still, Another Oud is a fun experiment, and in its better moments can even pose and entertain like a cheeky robotic skit on classics like Malle's POAL. BUT. The JHAG treatment can get very screechy indeed. I ended up sort of like/hating it; the bottom end gets almost-bitter on my skin, but in an intriguing way. Verges on metallic at some points, which is a no for me. Personally I liked JHAG's Mmmm a lot more (against expectations, as I usually like raspberry with plenty of wood/leather rather than on its own.) Still, Another Oud does boast some pretty pushy sillage and tough-gal longevity, so it will do the job for plenty of people.

Ok not what I was expecting, opening is a little sharp but tones down really quick but still kind of sharp. You get that fresh sharp woody scent, you get a slight raspberry scent not sweet, the oud kicks in it is very similar to Lattaffa oud for glory oud scent but way less sweet and doesn’t last as long. The ambroxan base is there right after the mid note hits making it stay kind of clean, fresh but the woody oud is still there. It is odd the way it behaves, you get the western oud synthetic not animalic not a barnyard or cheesy oud; it’s more like damp wood. It remains clean fresh but woody with a faint raspberry it is not too fruity or sweet. Drydown is softer and you do get some musk. I mostly get the woody oud with ambroxan it’s clean but I wouldn’t wear it during summer. All other seasons I would wear it, it is unisex anybody can wear this one(note some might find it leaning masculine). It is not complex but it is not linear either. I can understand why some people may find it medicinal in a way. The truth is I don’t love it but I do like it and I would wear it often, for just casual wear or a night out with friends. Depending on price anything below $50 you are good. Performance 7/10 Longevity 7/10 Scent 6/10 Price 6/10

This fragrance is really unique in my opinion because of how synthetic it smells like. The opening is sharp and a bit medicinal, however don't jump to conclusions just yet. The dry-down is beautiful. It almost smells like a fresh, woodsy mineral? Definitely can't detect the "real" agarwood, probably because of how it was formulated in this fragrance. It's simple but also refined enough for it not to be a boring or "basic" fragrance. However, my only complaints are the poor longevity and sillage (had to spray it over and over every hour for it to smell strong again). I recommend this fragrance for both spring and summer. Overall, for the price point i would say you get a decently unique and niche fragrance!

The raspberry makes this so fun! What a creative way to brighten up a heavy resinous wood and make it more playful and unique. I tend to not like ouds and I think this is now one of my favorites for that category. It is approachable and easy to wear, based on my experience. I don't get tons of bergamot and the musk and ambroxan add a nice cushion for softness. There is a slight metallic aspect and I can't figure it out. This is my least favorite part. But I have to concentrate to notice it. Could easily be an everyday fragrance and for any gender. Based on the other reviews, it seems to be Hit or Miss depending on your skin chemistry so it's worth trying it out before buying.

I gravitate toward synthetics but I always want to like oud on me... love it on others but I always feel a bit like a steamroller when it's on my skin. So this one I felt like I could pull off. Still truly unisex and quite seductive despite its comparative chilliness for an oud. Nice for a date when you're wearing the pants. ;) There's something round and spacious to it; despite coming on quite strong and rich there's an airiness in the middle that's hard to describe. Not powdery, not "fresh." Just... round. Pricy, so I want to see if I can get my hands on another sample before I take the plunge.

I like this. It's really uncomplicated and a really light oud. Most of my experience with oud is in the form of incense or Arab perfume, which can be incredibly overwhelming and heady. This isn't that. This is very modern, very cleaned up, very relaxing. I think for people who dislike oud, this might surprise you. For lovers of the heavy traditional oud, this might disappoint you. For me, I think it's very wearable and could probably make a great perfume to mix with others. 6/10

The opening reminds me of a highly synthetic Tuscan Leather by Tom Ford but with less leather. The dry-down becomes less synthetic and more woodsy and oud-like, but still carries that Iso E Super and Ambroxan synthetic signature that most Juliette Has A Gun fragrances have. It's a dry, rather stern oud, not a sweet, nectarous one, but it is sweetened and balanced a bit by the raspberry. Also, ouds pair wonderfully with a hint of tanginess, which the bergamot notes provide.

If you're a fan of oud and are hoping for something unique with Another Oud you won't find it. It has the sweet and the smoke like so many other ouds do it just comes down to finding your preference of the sweet you like. Fake raspberry is not my cup of tea. I find this to be a perfectly suitable perfume but just another oud as its name states. It does teeter on bug spray much like Memo Luxor Oud to me. So far everything pales in comparison to Pid Saphir.

Raspberry is certainly detected in the opening. It smoothly transitions to an incense wood. Next it gets stronger and more antiseptic, more medicinal, until I can almost feel the alcohol pad gliding past my nose. It vacillates between the berry, which mixed with the wood is only mildly sweet, and a stronger clinical scent. I have never had a perfume like this. I don't laze around in it, it is very coy. Impressive though not for me.

This is a decent and safe fruity / oud combo with good amount of oud, 50/50 quite well balanced and totally unisex. The rasberry feels a little jammy and the oud is woody and safe. It smells more expensive than it is. The ambroxan is undetectable. And there's a pinch of bergamot. Performance is above the average, very good. Highly recommended for begginers in the world of oud. I like it very much.

I normally dislike unisex frags, and I did not appreciate Midnight Oud, so I was pleasantly surprised by this one. This is the perfect warm sweater by the fire scent. It is warm and woodsy in a way that feels totally wearable for women. It is truly one that is purely unisex. It feels like a women's perfume when worn by a woman and seems like a man's cologne when worn by a man. Perfect for fall.

Oud become really popular a few years ago. Pretty much every designer house added at least one oud offering to their line as did JHAG. This oud fragrance is just an afterthought. Fine, but nothing special. An oud for someone who wants a generic, non-offensive oud.

I smell oud, smoke, and raspberries. There's something very calming about it. It's a kind of an androgynous scent . It's not feminine or masculine. It's very comforting and rich without being overpowering. I really like this.

No oud in this one as far as I can tell. Raspberry, norlimbanol, ambroxan and some musks. Very nice but slightly overpriced for what it is. Kinda like Oud for Glory but with raspberry instead of saffron

A fabulous entry-level oud that is more woody than oud-y. The touch of fruitiness and nuttiness gives the scent a gourmand vibe, but only slightly. Suitable for fall/winter.

It has become a popular trend to mix oud with raspberry — and berries in general (blackberries, strawberries.... and I’m sure there are others). A departure from the ubiquitous rose and oud combo, but still it’s overdone. Before I get into my review I feel the need to clarify that I’m a synthetic oud fan; I’ve smelled the real stuff and it’s too much for me. Conversely I’m also weary of oud scents in general since I own many — a perfume must be really special for me to take notice. So how does Another Oud measure up. Well, it doesn’t. There’s nothing special about it, and all of the comparisons below with locker room smell and synthetic cleaning fluid echo my experience. (My favorite is the review that compares this smell to something “trying to cover up another smell” in a hospital or retirement home). The raspberry note fades quickly, but unfortunately for those who don’t like it, this scent does not. Extreme longevity it does possess. My favorite example of oud with a raspberry note is Fidelis by Histoires de Parfums. So if that is of interest, and this is not working, I’d recommend checking that one out.

I am on the fence with this scent. Another Oud is for beginners or those who don't really like Oud (not fecal). It is about Ambroxan, Musk and raspberry. And that's basically it. No real development - apart from the fast fading oud accord. Altogether quite synthetic and kind of pungent. I still still kind of like it though. Smell itself is not bad, it can be worn easily and it suits most occasions well. Big thing is also the price. Another Oud is currently about 55€ for 100ml. Apart from middle eastern scents (or clones) there is a little competition in that price segment. I slightly leaning positive but i am keeping it with "Okay" for right now.

I'm used to the Montale Ouds, and love them, especially the rosey ones. I'm assuming they're using real oud, but don't know for sure. "Another Oud" reads more masculine on me. I get no Raspberry or Bergamot, just heavy alcohol, then strong wood for a good half-hour until the musk and ambroxin hit. I like it, but like the Montale Ouds better. I'm also trying this in the summer, so might like it better in the colder months.

Many years ago, when I discovered oud, this was the kind of synthetic that I liked. Another Oud is not unique or natural, but it is easy to wear. Adding a raspberry note (or other fruit note) is a welcome change—albeit trendy— over the predictable rose note that so many others do. Still, I no longer gravitate to this kind of scent. It feels very dated, like I’m back in the early 2000s.

Takes me to some seductively enchanting desert temple in the middle of the night, lit up with lanterns, containing thousand year-old secrets. It has these really beautiful purple-pink and orange-yellow notes lingering beneath what is unfortunately an overpowering and sharp oud. I prefer the overall 'atmosphere' of this one, rather than it's 'head-on' scent.

Nose Note #238 To me it's more like minty vetiver with a little bit of oud. A dialed down mixture of Encre Noire and something neutral. The raspberry is there in the distance. Musk is also there and it's not bad. It has interesting, but not complex development. Can't see it on a woman. In general I'd say it's just OK. I can't develop feelings towards it.

I am very disappointed this didn’t work out for me. I read someone on this site that it was orgasm in a bottle so I was excited to receive it. Well, it was more like a sweaty, awkward, teenage bathroom/lockeroom petting or make out session. It’s not because I don’t enjoy orientals, in fact, my absolute favorite fragrances are woody orientals. This however, smells like a strong comercial cleaner, mixed with sweat and ammonia like old urine. Im a huge fan of Juliette Has a Gun fan, and absolutely love ‘Not a Perfume’. If I wasn’t a half-time student, I’d be buying it on the reg. I love the ambroxan but I think it reacts not in a pleasant way when mixed with the synthetic agarwood. Based on the comments, you either love it or hate it. My skin smells awful at first spray. I have earnestly trying to identify why I don’t like it and when, so I must confess that if I put it on before bed, it does have a much more tame and less chemical smell in the morning, so the dry down is ok. The cherry is barely perceptible, so I don’t get the sweet smell everyone claims. My next experiment will be to spray it just on the bed sheets to see if it’s a reaction with my skin as it does smell nice on the vial.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the similarity to Erba Pura from Sospiro! I almost panicked a few minutes after spraying Another Oud on my wrist. I absolutely and undeniably hated Erba Pura. I've given it a try about 3 years ago when I was just starting my perfume journey and - all these years and loads of fragrances later - I still feel the headache it caused and how I just couldn't take it off me! quite a nighmare that soap and shower couldn't handle, I had to use disinfectant with alcohol and it still didn't remove it completely. however, leaving (strong) feelings aside, according to the notes they both have Musc as a base note and Bergamot as a the top note. Erba Pura is double the price and is by no mean a safe buy (neither is Another Oud in my opinion), however if you love Another Oud and are bothered by the longevity, Erba Pura is a must try! all in all, this is not boring - which makes it good in a way - however it's too harsh, therefore a pass for me.

As the description says, this is a tame oud. While it is still very noticeable, its warm from the amber and fruity. The general feeling is "clean". I love it. BUT, I can't see where would it fit with me... It is a bit of an "special occasion" perfume or for someone cosmopolita, living in a city... I am in a tiny island where not much goes on so I can't see myself purchasing a full bottle. At the moment. Edit: I tested it again with Midnight Oud on the other weist. I do not know if it was the result of comparing the two, but Another Oud was quite screetchy and I did not enjoy it like the first time... It was sharp and couldn't get the fruits and ambers I got previously. BUT today I tested an oud oil and itvtotally changes the scent of other perfumes after sniffing it. My conclusion: Oud perfumes have to be tested by themselves. I have to test Another Oud again to come out of this stale mate!

I love Juliette Has a Gun. The brand has some beautiful high quality perfumes. I own a full bottle of Mmmm... and travel spray of Sunny Side Up. I recently purchased the discovery set of samples and Another Oud was one of them. A great sampling set by the way! I should start with saying I don’t have much experience with oud perfumes. My tastes in perfumes have somewhat evolved during the past couple of years, but I’m not at the oud stage in my journey. To me I find this too intense. A scent that’s not pleasant to me. Something spicy, woodsy and something I am not used to. I think I’ll revisit oud scents in another five or so years. But for now Another Oud is a pass.

Ooof. It's too much for me. I'm not sure if I just don't like oud, maybe that's it. Although Montale's Honey Aoud is one of my top favorite perfumes. If being hit hard on the bridge of the nose was a scent, to my nose this would be it. It's just harsh! I keep reading reviews to see if I can understand better now lovers of this fragrance are interpreting it. I'd love to be able to shift my perspective to reach even "ok" versus "dislike".

This is a 100% masculine scent to me. I sprayed it on my wrist and it made me smell like a testosterone-overloaded guy after a gym. Extremely powerful fragrance. One spray on my wrist filled up the entire room. Personally, I don't like this scent. It is very sharp, heavy in the beginning and middle notes, dries down to a more mellow scent, but still super masculine and not in a good way.

It is literally what it says, another oud. With a bit of raspberry, which is actually nice, but that's about it. No big complex thing. I can see why people like it because it is a *good* oud, but I've honestly smelled more imaginative and complex perfumes with oud - it's such a versatile component.
