Lady Vengeance

I have to admit---overpriced niche fragrances always get me with the names!! I recently joined a scent club at one of the online fragrance sites and finally got a purse size of Lady Vengeance--the perfect name for my mindset after the last 6 years!! A friend of mine had given me samples of 2 JHAG scents--Another Oud and Not a Perfume--and neither of them did much for me, I'm afraid. But--this one hits hard! I love the kind of vinegar-y rose note in this scent--and the slight green from the geranium--I don't even hate the Ambroxen or however it's spelled, even though I found it gross in NAP---the patch/vanilla accord is something I've only warmed up to post-menopause--( Make of that what you will!) and it works really well with this snarky rose.This one IS clearly neo-vintage and it's been driving me nuts trying to figure out what it reminds me of--two scents come to mind---Yves Rocher's Comme Un Evidence EDP and Pierre Cardin's Rose Cardin--the most extreme rose scent I've ever worn--and I used to work for Perfumer's Workshop and sold TEA ROSE!! This is fall/winter stuff for sure--and maybe I only like it because I'm "An old lady"----but the young women who post age-ist crap like that here, will one day be ( if they are LUCKY) surprised to find that scents they loved when they were girls don't work well on them when they are dragging rather than pushing 50 and that scents they used to find loud or pushy or "granny-ish" work way better on them now. Your tastes change--and so will your skin--trust me!! However--unless I can find a cheap rollerbball of this one, I probably won't buy a bigger bottle of LV--it's just too expensive and I'm on a fixed income now!!

The first thing that lured me in with Lady Vengeance was the name, we recently got a Juliette Has A Gun concession at my local John Lewis and when walking through, the stand caught my attention, well, this bottle in particular did, mainly because of the name and the lace-like detailing on the bottle, I just had to smell it, and it was love at first sniff! Lady Vengeance is a sexy, dirty femme fetale, at first glance she may seem all sugar and spice but do anything to provoke her and she will sink her claws in! When first sprayed, Lady Vengeance opens up with a delightfully fresh garden rose with some mild powder in the background, but then, oh, give it half an hour and the goody-goody rose vanishes, well, it doesnt vanish but darker notes of patchouli and lavender wrap it up in a dark, earthy veil which is just pure seduction and filth. Lady Vengeance is a confident fragrance, its a definite red lipstick and no BS fragrance, even so, it still feels very wearable in any circumstance i.e the office, etc but personally I wear this when I need to feel like I'm carrying a pistol in my garter or whenever I'm going out. I get the similarities to Narciso Rodriguez For Her, but I find them to be different enough to each other to justify owning both, NR is all about the sexy skin musk, and Lady Vengeance is all about the filthy, sexy rose. Such a pleasure to wear, I love it!

🌹 It lasts a really long time on my skin. I could smell roses for 2 days on my wrist. I think it’s a mono scent. Just roses. Fresh roses in a flower shop. It has a vintage vibe, but I can only picture it on a young, promising woman (with a motorcycle). Imagine it’s late evening, the city bright with lights and neon signs, and the flower shop is about to close. When you step inside, the scent of roses hits you immediately — soft, cold, velvet. A young woman stands at the counter in tight black leather biker gear. She holds a helmet in one hand and writes a note with the other. You glance over her shoulder. The note says: “See you in hell, honey”. She kisses the card, leaving a red lipstick mark, then hands it to the florist along with a bouquet of roses to be delivered to a man’s address. She turns to leave but stops near the door. She bends down and picks up a small metal can — a gasoline can, you realise. Something, or someone, is about to burn. And the last thing they will smell... is roses.

Hm, I imagined this perfume to be strong, a bit vintage, woody rose type of scent. Based on notes and based on its name. I expected it to be heavy, dark, even a bit gothic. On my skin, however, it’s a very pleasant, but rather delicate, dewy rose. Definitely not a „femme fatale” vibe, more of Juliet and surely without a gun ;) For me, it’s not a disadvantage, on the contrary - I actually fell in love with this fragrance! :) Rose here is sparkling, realistic and very feminine. It’s just different than I initially thought. If you have similar expectations, I suggest sampling it first, as seems that reviews in that matter are divided. (My) Expectations: Rock, bold version of Juliet in a leather jacket, red sexy dress, red lipstick on. She is easy going and extraverted... (My) Reality: Classical, a bit shy version of Juliet in a flowery, pastel dress, with a delicate makeup. She has deep personality, but only trusted ones are able to fully know it...

Nothing could be more dangerous than a woman who's seeking for vengeance, mostly if she's beautiful and intelligent: this is a rather undeniable statement which Romano Ricci could have considered while he was looking for a name for this fragrance. This Lady is actually very attractive and smart, but she doesn't look evil at all: an intense shade of pink lipstick, a little black dress and a pair of white leather boots are her signatures...and she's aware she can get whatever she wants when she wears them. The nocturne air around her is fulfilled with an (utterly sexy) absolute of dark roses and delicious vanilla, slightly tempered with hints of patchouly and woody musk. Her pale skin is one thing with her scent, they will never get apart. Oh, this fragrance is so simple, so captivating, so perfect..I'm in love with it, no more words needed :)

I'm genuinely wondering whether I have the same perfume that others have when reading these reviews. To me it is surprising that people would describe it as a day time, office-appropriate fragrance because to me 1) it is so enormous and 2) it is so woody and mysterious that I would only wear the smallest dab of it in an office. Before reading about its notes I would never have even thought to describe it as a predominantly rose fragrance. How interesting. This perfume is very intriguing and when I smell it on someone else I know immediately we are kindred spirits. Vetiver and cedar come through very strongly for me via Iso e super I suppose. My only qualm is its a little too pricey. It is also interesting to me that when I explored this house further I came upon so many dead ends. To me JHAG *is* Lady Vengeance, everything else is noise.

Tried blind as part of the discovery set. First pick. I’m trying in deep winter and wasn’t sure what to expect. Sharp crystalline rose and citrus, with this fluffy undertone. Felt like the scent became a multi-tiered experience on my skin. How can it smell so light yet so clear, crisp and present. The scent radiates beautifully off skin. I get no patchouli. It’s the same feel (but not smell) as L’Eau d’Hiver. That cool, clear and haunting type scent. Typing away at my desk I kept smelling it radiating up and then going in for another sniff. This feels on my skin like an introverts scent. She has it together, has a plan and the nerve to carry things without with needing validation, whilst also feeling contemplative and comforting. Intriguing scent. I’m going to keep trying this now and in a few months when it warms up. Loving this scent.

A velvet soft fuzzy, pink rose. There's something so divinely feminine about this. It's a mature rose that to me smells less niave or innocent than some rose perfumes can smell. If those kinds of rose perfumes are girlish, this is womanly. I first tried this in the cooler months and thought it smelled good but didn't feel particularly drawn to it. By chance, I tried it on again, this time on a very hot summers day and it just bloomed. The base notes are what gives this fragrance its softness, and makes you want to nuzzle closer. It melts beautifully with the skin on me and draws you in. On me it has good projection and lasts well. This is a perfume worn by someone who is confident in their feminity, (though that doesn't mean it shouldn't be worn by people who don't identify as women). A beautiful fragrance for everyday.

Mature & winter rose ambroxan. Nothing dramatic here as the name suggests but it's such a good classic rose scent, it's rose in it's pure, soapy and quality form possible. It's slightly clean, classy, ambery, delicate, rosey, slightly citrusy and has a solid sillage and longitivity. Should've named it "JHAG Ms. Rose" instead. This is advertised for women but I care not. It just fits me like a glove, will be my signature scent the coming fall. Edit: I loath Francis Kurkdjian, but the very fact remains that I still LOVE this bottle. Don't have to hate the work of a greedy creature. I'll just have to delude myself into thinking that Romano Ricci made it alone. it's such a shame that this was claimed by the evil grinch himself.

Testing out a sample pack and this was love at first sniff! I was beginning to worry that I wouldn't find a JHAG perfume that worked for me but this is gorgeous. The only other one that has worked so far is Ex Vetiver. I've been looking for a rose perfume and this is perfect. The only other rose perfume that I liked was Bvlgari Rose Essentialle which has a completely different feel than this one. This is definitely a mature scent, but I'm 48 so no worries there. 🙂 Sillage is significant and I have a feeling that I'll be smelling this all day and into evening. Use a light hand when spraying this one. I don't even want to test out the rest of the samples because I don't see how they can compete with this.

This is a classic rose-patchouli composition elevated by a generous dose of clean woods, likely driven by Iso E Super and Ambroxan. The rose is sharp, fresh, and slightly cool in character, while the base radiates warmth, creating a fascinating contrast. The interplay between the airy woods and the rose transforms what could have been a traditional feminine floral into a beautifully balanced, unisex fragrance. Despite its richness, the woody transparency gives it a versatility that works surprisingly well in warmer weather—or at least in climate-controlled settings. Like Mjcastelston, I couldn't care less that it's marketed toward women; it's a fantastic rose fragrance, and I wear it proudly and often.

This perfume is AMAZING! The opening, to me, is not the nicest (vintage vibes, my husband said straight away wet rose), but wait a bit and it is just beautiful. I had a sample and had to buy a full bottle. I just adore it. I can smell vanilla and gentle rose in the drydown. It gives me an impression of creaminess and comfort. I also think it’s sexy. I was expecting something dark and very unusual. It is still different in my opinion and I think not a safe buy. I don’t think it’s for every occasion. On the other hand if you like it why stop yourself from enjoying it whenever you want ;) I think it is not „fully” feminine and some men could pull it off. It would suit person of any age in my opinion.

You walk into a decrepit Victorian manor, inside a room with black damask wallpaper lies a casket lined with a rich purple silk. Next to this, amongst a rug of dust, sits a crystal vase with burgundy red roses dried and wilted. It smells like Lady Vengeance by Juliette Has A Gun. Powdery, fragrant red roses, musky and woody base. Simple notes which result in a sultry, gothic, classy concoction. Certainly not for everyone, like all gothically inclined things, but is unapologetic in doing so. Feels extremely wrong to wear this masterpiece in anything other than an ebony shaded, Victorian bustle gown while performatively mourning your Peer husband as you make eyes at his sister during the funeral.

I don't own this frag but my mom wears it religiously and gets tons of compliments. My opinion as a 26 year old woman who still prefers fruity, juicy, zesty, creamy scents: Lady Vengeance smells a bit oldschool to me (I'm very sensitive to rose scents). It has a gothic/rich/sensual feel to it though. Here's my mom's opinion (she forced me to post this😂): "Biggest fan of this fragrance since a decade and it's my signature scent. Lady Vengeance is my favorite flanker from this line and Vengeance extreme is my least favorite. It's works SO well with my body chemistry and I wear it all year round. The simplest way to describe it is *sensual rich floral with a zesty opening*.

I just love this scent so much, it has become my signature scent. I feel it being an edgy yet wearable scent for most occasions, day and night, office and date nights. It is so versatile, simple yet complex, it speaks to both the dark and light. My second favorite perfume is Putain des Palaces, which I feel being the lighter twin of this (even if they are not similar in DNA nor smell they still share the same vibes in my opinion). It is definitely not a sweet rose but on the edgier and darker spectrum. If you want a sweeter rose scent which still has some spicy notes, I would recommend Sweet Diamond Pink Pepper from Kayali.

I love this scent. At first spray, it has a weird artificial smell that is like alcohol or chemicals to me, which might be the lavender which I've never been a fan of. The dry down though is this beautiful rose and musk which all mellow out with the vanilla notes. Lasts forever on my clothes. A few hours on the skin. Even though it's heavy on the rose, it's not like Grandma's perfume to me, its fresh and clean and playful. With a name like lady vengeance I was scared it was going to be something overpowering that might give me a headache - it's easy to wear and I can't wait to get a full size of it.

I’ve had this in my collection for 5 years now, and I’ve loved it dearly the entire time. I test a lot of fragrances on a regular basis, so it takes a lot to keep my coming back to one scent time and time again. The Moroccan rose feels dry, and the Bulgarian rose feels honeyed and fruity. This combination with the earthy patch and musky iso E super is really beautiful. Feels classy, a bit dark, and during the late summer / early fall Lady Vengeance SHINES. As soon as the air gets cool I reach for her, and she never disappoints. Gets me in a romantic, slightly spooky mood. Best JHAG.

Every day I tell myself I don't like rose fragrances (some subconscious self-denial? I'll have to ask my therapist), and every time I encounter a new one I love it. I also hate patchouli almost universally, but here we are. Maybe I can't trust my own tastes. This is outstanding, robustly feminine but not girly at all. This chick has it together. Very power suit, very rooftop glass of wine with work colleagues, very the hottest woman you've ever seen going grey. Intimate as JHAG is, but without the 'skin' note I despise in the original not a perfume.

This is primarily a rose-patchouli scent, which is made really interesting by the lavender and some vanilla. Patchouli is strong on my skin. Lavender and bergamot give it freshness. I can smell the vanilla, but it's in no way a sweet fragrance. I find it very interesting and hard to characterize. The attributes of its wearer for me are feminine, strong, bossy, femme fatale, business lady, sexy, confident. I personally enjoy Lady Vengeance more in cooler weather, but it's very versatile to be a signature scent or to be worn all year round.

I was nervous but I’m so happy I took the leap and blind bought this! It’s so beautiful. For the first 3 seconds it smells a little “old lady” to my nose but it goes away almost instantly before my nose can even investigate further. The rose and woodiness work so wonderfully together. I pick up light hints of lavender here and there as well. This is also a great compliment getter for me. Everyone I’ve spoken to since I applied it has complimented my scent and asked what I’m wearing. I guess I really am a true rose lover.
