Metal Chypre

Diddy wah diddy! Me likey! This is one amazing piece of olfactory art. I knew from the name of this mysterious beast that this would be the JHAG scent for me, after trying a sample kit of their more entry level work. The scent of Metal Chypre is exactly what is described. At first spray, it will smell like you have suddenly turned into a copper pipe. This bizarre effect lets you know that you're in the presence of a magical perfume. The metallic notes do not last forever though. After a while, they settle down, as you stop being a copper pipe, and turn into an exquisite, cuddly jumper. Metal Chypre defines the word juxtaposition. Metallic, cold and rock hard at first, then soft, warm and comforting after it settles down. This scent doesn't care about what you want, or who you claim to be. It's metal tones obliterate anything you thought you knew about perfumery. Then, the chypre notes will glide up your nose like a silky-smooth latte does down your gullet. Perfection 10/10. The perfect hard/soft experience in a single perfume.

Metal Chypre is a really curious fragrance from JHAG. This is fresh patchouli and syrupy iris on opening with a hint of crystalline sweetness, then it dries down to something quite raw. On inhaling, this really dries the nasal passages. It's like sniffing the vapor from parched pavement on a hot day, but infused with a touch of sweetness and soil-like minerality from irises and violets victoriously emerging from between the concrete cracks. The suede note is suggestive of the texture of the perfume. Nice chypre, dry and avant garde with some feeling of dulled pyrite filings if I give in to the name's suggestion. This one feels as though it would effectively dehydrate your sinuses if you were feeling a little foggy. Oddly clarifying. Big like sauntering into love.

Juliette Has A Gun Metal Chypre is a beautiful fragrance - although it’s neither particularly ‘metal’ nor ‘chypre’; and I’m not sure about the alleged ‘suede’ accord either. Instead, this is all about iris, white musk, ambroxan and some subtle fresh patchouli. None of these notes really stand out - the whole point is that this fragrance simply melts on one’s skin and makes its wearer feel as if they were born smelling good! In that sense, this is a rather ‘neutral’ fragrance, very much in the vein of the entire ‘not-a-perfume’ aestetics. Longevity is outstanding and projection way above average.

Luxurious and sharp like a cold blade... a very nice parfum. I really like iris,the suede note is very particular and gives the scent a touch of refinement but is also trendy and modern. In the background the white musk blends with the ambroxan, continuous contrasts. I personally like it a lot,and I'll keep it in mind for the winter, maybe wearing a wool or cashmere sweater =),. got a free 1ml sample of it with my recent order from Decant X. it's actually pretty good. one of the few floral fragrances i enjoy. the musk and amber notes make it much more masculine than other floral scents. but, i think women could pull this off, too. it's very unisex

Gentle spiciness, clean, masculine leaning fragrance. I mostly get the pepper and bergamot from this with some of the iris and ambroxan later in the day. It lasts for a long time on skin and clothing. I don't think I will be wearing this one often though, unfortunately it gives me a headache.

I seem to be in the minority here, but to my nose, Metal Chypre really succeeds in what it sets out to do, i.e. to create a metallic olfactory effect. Depending on what angle I smell it from, or maybe what gear my brain happens to be in, it sometimes reminds me almost exactly of the metallic coldness of an icy winter's day with snow on the ground. I have to admire JHAG for this feat, but I can't say I enjoy it; it's a rather prickly, slightly overwhelming smell, just like that of real ice - especially in the opening when it's at its strongest. At other times, when my brain shifts gears I guess, and more often in the drydown, I don't get much of the metallic effect at all; instead, I only smell what the note list suggests: a lovely suede and iris combination, but still with some prickliness to it from the amber/ambroxan accord. All in all I mostly like Metal Chypre for its originality - I find it more interesting than enjoyable, which means it's not for me.

Yup, I can definitely see why the metal is in the title. Like a sweet, cold, edible ball of aluminum. Not nearly as interesting as I thought I'd be. However, it would smell really nice on a woman's sweater after a winters day at the office, as she changes into something comfy, throwing the sweater on the bed. Definitely, not for guys. Let the ladies have this one fellas. The iris is overdone in it. That's really all you smell.

I can usually find the good in just about all fragrances, but sadly I would consider Metal Chypre a failed blind buy. I already owned [and love] Ode To Dullness, and surprisingly I find a lot of similarities. It's almost like Ode To Dullness is everything Metal Chypre failed to be, 6 years removed. Viva OTD!

I think this is the only perfume from Juliette has a gun that I like. Mysterious, androgynous chypre that is very modern and wearable. I would definitely also love to smell this on a man, it is sexy and definitely attention grabbing without being too flashy.

Una borsa nuova in camoscio,pesante,con tracolla e qualche trucco dentro. non del tutto moderno rimane fredda,dura e femminile. Più adatto di giorno, su una donna decisa e dinamica che suda fresco e pulito.

Had high hopes, but I can barely smell anything post dry-down. Really liked other offerings from JHAG.
