Moon Dance

Swoon! Moon Dance is an old-fashioned modern explotion of all the dirtiest white flowers. It reminds me a lot of older perfumes when ladies had a desire to smell like ladies and not bleached safe fruit&flower. Th SA pushed this to me, but I could not afford. Anyway I can still appreciate this wonder of raw smells that hit you right in your soft parts. It's an empowering scent that you will probably wear for your own pleasure rather than for crowd-pleasing, because it can be not everyone's cup. Definetely not for the faint at heart (nor faint at wallet). The opening is pure tuberose with its lovely dirty edge that SA politely insist calling "earthen". Ok, it is earthen and something more. Rose is very into the blend, it addsa nuance of poetry, then gradually subside. Natural or synthetical I cannot tell, but if it is synthetical for once in time a perfumeur could catch that musky fecal effect, vaguely similar to Kiehl's musk oil, which I don't like, mingled with white thick carnal flowers. Violet is less obvious. It goes on like that for at least 2 hours sending little clouds of both pure and dirty flowers, something that I experienced with beautiful Guerlain Idylle Duet Jasmin&Lilas (which I love) then it becomes more monodimensional, hitting on the musk effect, perhaps given by a good patchouli. It becomes more of a strong skinscent. Not my bf's fave for sure. I wouldn't call this an elegant perfume in a classy way, because it's more about raw sensuality, but nothing forbid to wear it for important events. If you can splurge, splurge on this. EDIT of the day after: It clings to fabrics and never let them go! And it keeps going from fabrics back to skin with a soft whaft of tuberose and musk. Definetely expensive but at least it lasts!

This is a seriously beautiful, magical perfume. The name "Moon Dance" describes it perfectly I think; the scent definitely brings to mind images of a velvet night sky, a pale moon and thousands of iridescent stars. Sweet tuberose and violet over a deep patchouli background, with a lush rose intertwined. The tuberose is the most noticeable note to me, followed by the violet. Interestingly enough, JHAG has managed to make violet smell a lot more "modern" with this one (for some reason, violet almost always seems old fashioned to me most of the time, but not here.) They have done for violet here what they did for rose with many of the other perfumes in their original line (LV, Miss Charming, LVE, MM) - given it a modern twist and made it a romantic contemporary scent. Moon Dance comes off as powdery but not overly so. Longevity is extremely good, sillage is noticeable but not too high. I'd say moderate for the first 1-3 hours and a skin scent after that. This is not a super strong scent but it still has enough weight to last for a very long time, which is great because most scents, no matter how expensive, do not last long on me. Also, the bottle/purple juice is beautiful too. The scent + concept reminds me of a classier, more elegant and refined Midnight Poison (though this definitely has less patchouli and more florals). This is just one of those perfumes that I encourage people to get a sample of, as I think it needs to be smelled in person.. . I've been kind of obsessed with this one for the last few months. (though I am not super happy about the price, as I was not able to find it discounted anywhere). Gorgeous perfume though.

Ohh my goodnes .i just found a sample of this in my stash . dont think i have gotten round to testing it properly somehow. But today a rainy cold spring day i found the need to test something new. And wow wow wow . This hits home run straight away . oh my this is beautiful especialy in this types of climat i can feel it as a sunny warm brigt sun of a fragrance wafting around me . Going on pretty strong only need a tiny bit of this stuff. at first i was not sure if it was this perfume . it only says moondance on my sample decant . But reading up on it im convinsed . It has a honey warmth to it . reminding me of poison old type and somehow also Rare Gold Avon. Its been ages sins i tryed that one , But it made me feel just like this . this is stronger and more mystical . Kind of also have something similer to Safanade .a mix of safanade and poison in the best way possible . Oh boy this goes straight to my want list. wishing the fragrance fairy welcome to bring me this the best way possible . <3 Perfect name to the bottle aswell . Im attracted to the moon and this tuberose, violet ,rosy patchouli mix , making it a potion to wear under the spell of the moon . Magic can happen if you only belive . This brings back hope that magic and miracles excists out there . Wish upon the moon or a shooting star ....

I adore Moon Dance totally!!! It's the most gorgeous perfume - one of my favourite rose perfumes!! It's the loveliest rose chypre, full of gorgeous scents, with the majestic rose being the queen, but certainly tuberose and violet are star performers in their own right. It's perfectly elegant and sophisticated, and very very sensual and mysterious. Deep and dark, and powerful. It won my heart as soon as I put it on the very first time a couple of years ago, and has stayed firmly there ever since. Beautiful!!! Entirely feminine and alluring, bewitching and sultry. And yet at the same time, it has a soft demureness about it, like she's slightly hiding her strength behind a soft veil of silk. And the strength of the patchouli, with it's earthiness and herbaceous potency, is underlying the delicate florals. It is a sublime and glorious perfume. And I get compliments all the time, especially from my husband who thinks it's the best perfume ever! It has terrific longevity and sillage, and I don't have to put much on either - it is so lovely and strong. It's just beautiful. Glorious. Fabulous!!!

An explosion of Rose mingled with intense Tuberose, plus some other white florals (is it Ylang that I seem to detect that is not listed in the pyramid?), this perfume hits you in the face much in the More-is-More 80s style: Big, bold, strong yet sensual, substantial sillage and long-lasting. For someone who wants to make a statement and an entrance. The packaging couldn't be more different from JHaG's standard line - classic square flacon, creamy-white lacquer box with silver plaque with a velvet wrap, definitely Luxury but almost nothing in common with the rest of JHaG's bottles. I am curious as to who the Nose behind this latest creation is (is it still FK who, according to various reports, worked on the other JHaG)? After getting my hands on this bottle, I saw the entire JHaG prominently displayed in Sephora Paris including the two from this latest Luxury Collection, so one can expect to hear a lot more about this brand in mainstream media. Just hope it won't get over-exploited.

This is the best rose scented Chypre fragrance perfume that I have smelled. It and Portrait of a Lady are my two favorite rose scented perfumes. But this is the best rose scented Chypre perfumes that I have. The rose comes through more than the tuberose. In fact, I smell very little of the tuberose. It is a deep romantic fragrance. A fragrance of seduction. I have one full bottle and the back up is on the way. Three words for this perfume. I love it! With the full bottles of perfume, the color of perfumes will look different depending on the light that are reflected on them at different angles. I have seen purple and I have seen burgundy, even blue. What I truly enjoy about the bottles that this and Oil Fiction is that the backs are sleek and beautiful. The backs of the bottles have a gold plate that have the exact wording that are on the front of the bottles. Like you are looking at the writing on the front through the gold plate. Truly sleek and fabulous. Just like the perfumes.

Romantic,sweet and a little powdery... this is a "cold" scent that slowly drags you with him. The note of tuberose is strong but not intrusive, the thing that surprises me is that it combines perfectly with the rose and violet..is really an amazing parfum! There is something that may seem "sad", I do not know what it is,this is for the cold days, is complex and you want to find out all the way, you would not want to leave him. The drydown is a kinda dark. This is an invitation to look at the beauty of the moon, with a starry sky. This perfume is marked for "women" but I think it might go well for a man, even if it is more toward the feminine side,but since there are notes of bergamot and patchouli, I think can go well even unisex. I would really like. The sillage is moderate, longevity is very good. Beautiful fragrance from Juliette Has A Gun!. Sillage: 7./10 Longevity: 9/10 Scent: 9/10 Overall: 9/10

Epic. Moon Dance is a story just waiting to unfold. It is absolutely poetic. An epic tale filled with love, pain, passion and danger. I swear, there's a beautiful, bold heroine lurking within the notes of this fragrance...and she is a force to be reckoned with. Warmth. I always imagine the moon cold. Particularly beautiful on a clear, cool night. Not this time. I can almost feel the warmth radiating up from my skin. It is what presents to me the most significantly in this composition. It's deep, rich and above all else, inviting. Floral/Patchouli. No one flower stands out for me. Sure there's tuberose to add a little creaminess, violet which seems to help darken it a bit.....but they are definitely not alone. The patchouli is not clean and sterile, it's earthy and lived in, somewhat dampened. Moon Dance last well into the evening on my skin. Quite the fitting end to the day's fragrant tale.

FULL BOTTLE WORTHY. Not love at first sniff, but it was love by the end of the wear. I enjoy the bulk of JHAG’s fragrances. Moon Dance is my #1 from the house. LouLou Cacharel and Electimuss Vixere come to mind when I wear it. Also think of it as a soapier, less incensey ELDO Rien Intense Incense - with the spotlight on creamy, indolic florals in place of Rien’s explosive Tire Warehouse accord. It’s a narcotic composition. A hint vintage. Animalic and pungent in the best way. Yet there’s a softness. I get a little powder. It’s a gorgeous - undoubtedly polarizing - blend. The violet/rose/tuberose trio sings. An ingenious bergamot threads through from opening to drydown. Patchouli was the correct choice of base note here. Carnal, heady, bewitching, lush, mesmerizing, dreamy. A Top 10 For Life for me. MASTERPIECE

I first sniffed this on paper and was not impressed, but I held on to the sample to try on my skin and am now liking it much more. I agree with others that this feels like a modern take on the loud tuberose perfumes I remember from the 80s. That was before I wore any type of fragrance, but it takes me back to the old school department store fragrance counters I would linger at while shopping at the mall. It's very well-blended, though I catch whiffs of each note none overpowers the others. The opening is a little sharp, but it quickly settles down to a soft but heavy floral/patchouli. My skin really amplifies patchouli and normally it scares me off a fragrance, but in this it is really nice!

Wow! Just wow! This IS a surprise, I must admit. Beautiful old school style scent. Tiny amount projects a lot. It smells very familiar yet I can not put my finger on it. I am sure I smelled something similar before. I think there maybe tiiinnyyy similarity to Balenciaga Michelle I get sweet flowers, something along the lines of sweet parma violet mixed with with sweet tuberose and a little bit rose with a splash of citrus and wack of patchouli. It is sweet, slightly gritty, warm and very sexy. I have a small 5 ml decant and I think it will last me forever as it is very potent but if I ever run out, I would certainly consider a large decant.

Early Valentine's gift from my husband-and i freaking love it. This is just superb, and in my opinion, ultra femme. I'd feel weird smelling this on a man, or at least on my kind of a man. I am approaching 600 bottles in my collection without finding my signature, but i believe i just found it in Moon Dance. From the actual creation, to the packaging and the name, this is just a perfection. Super modern take on vintage perfumery, masterfully executed. I want to smell like this until the day i die. Magical potion in a bottle for all of us who feel a little witchy inside.

This is a dark one but not in a bad dark challenging way, which I love. I see the comments saying it’s feminine and also see that it’s marketed for women. When I got the sample it just had the name listed and the frag house. I immediately fell in love. Fragrance has no sex. I’m a man and I love it and will be purchasing a full bottle. For all you men out there expand your fragrantical horizons don’t let the “for women” scare you it’s all lies. I haven’t found a for women only frag yet that id say was only for women that’s just pish posh!

Cold, seductive, mesmerising - what can I say, I absolutely love it. This will get you noticed if that's what you are after. It's a very special frag, perfect combination of florals, vintage, but modern at the same time. Really good performance too. Oh, and I love the bottle and the box! I feel it fits colder weather more and better suited for evening wear, although I wear it in the daytime too, because I crave the scent too much! Not cheap, but definitely worth it, give it a try

Contradictional yet smooth and seductive fragrance, can't recall anything that would smell even slightly similar with Moon Dance, I know tuberose and violet and rose with patch, yet it hard to call this fragrance based on any of those. There is something from religious mysticism in it. Basically, it's very unique blend that hard to describe apart of creamy-woody base and earthy good quality of patch. It slightly, only slightly resembles to me Nokomis Coty though..

To me, this is tuberose blooming in the wilderness and violet spouting in ruins. There is something so primal about this inherently floral composition that is usually done for the sake of elevating elegance. Moon Dance certainly is full of poise, but the animalic aspect of it is what truly blew me away. It reminds me of the song “Ebony Eyes” by Stevie Wonder. She's a girl that can't be beat. Born and raised on ghetto streets. She's a DEVASTATING BEAUTY.

One of the most fascinating contradictions in perfume is, when smelled directly on skin it represents a carnal picture of dirt, while the sillage is of a heavenly light creaminess. Moon dance may be considered distant, but as it glides along in its smooth orbit (not unlike the most famous moondancing star ever), its -weightless- trail will lift and corrupt all bystanders, their jaws dropped to the ground. Eternally denoted as beautiful.

I adore Moon Dance: and I am blown away by the wonderful, the fabulous and perfect review by Peachysugarbuns!! It is the perfect description of my own (there's no way I could have found the words!!!) sublime experience of this stunning perfume. Thankyou so much - it gave me a thrill, and brought a tear to my eye, because it captured so perfectly my own feelings!! Extraordinary!!! It's a gorgeous perfume.

Moon dance is a very nice take on a rose + patch fragrance. And it should be for that price. The note list can't be complete because I'm sure I'm smelling a moderate amount of leather in the basenotes too. I would love to have it some day, but after the initial crush I don't think it is worth it's price for a full bottle. My decant will last enough time I suspect, as both sillage and duration is good.

The initial spray of this fragrance is pretty jarring to me. I don't know, it kinda reminds me of Elizabeth Arden's Red Door. But the dry-down is AMAZING. I'm a sucker for patchouli fragrances, and this one does not disappoint. I absolutely adore this fragrance. I find it to be perfect for both day and night time use. It's projection is pretty minimal, but it lasts an entire day at the office :)

For me, it was love at first sniff. Like a beautiful evening dress. You love admiring the craftsmanship, touching the rich textured material but wear it only once or twice. The perfume is somewhat unique, definitely feminine, and mysterious. It has a certain character and that might be the reason why I don't reach for it often. Only when I'm in a certain mood. A definite signature type.

Starts off bright, sweet, like candied violets. A mood elevating fragrance. The most wearable I've tried from JHAG. Love the subtle patchouli and wood undertone that starts peeking through after a couple minutes on the skin. Has a more natural scent than many atelier perfumes. Goes from candy to an almost masculine scent. I can see how it's a dance. A new favourite

Beautiful perfume, but certainly not for everyone. It’s more mature and sophisticated. I dislike powdery scents and I’m glad this one isn’t. It makes me think of a humid spring night, or rainy day. I smell a bouquet of roses sweating honey and rain water. Moon dance is deep and strong. It will last all day and needs no more than one or two sprays.

I have just had a go to church moment! Only my church is Midnight Mass at Christmas. The incense is wonderful and mysterious, but not sure which of the notes listed it would be. Bergamot maybe? The Tuberose and violet are wonderful. I feel like I have been touched by the Goddess when I have this on.

Yup, I sure love this! Mellyhelly describes it PERFECTLY!!!! Swoon!!! I love it, it's dirty and deep and a dark feeling of mystery, and beautifully feminine, soft, smooth, rich and fabulous. I LOOOVE it. Seductive and sensual. A deeply beautiful, womanly perfume. Wonderful wonderful wonderful.

I have an authentic bottle, and selling samples and decants. This is the only JHAG I love, all the rest are too weak or bland for me. This one is beautiful and unique. I want to keep smelling my wrist. Mesmerizing and unforgettable. I had to add it to my collection

Why do I love this one so very much. I guess since ppl say it smells like an old lady perfume, then I must be an old lady. Coz I’m rocking it . None of my other perfumes smell like this one. This is a full bottle must buy.

19th I saved this for a cool foggy day in which I thought it would not choke me because it is so strong. This vintage smelling floral scent really hits you in the face. It reminds me a little of Poison edp without the sweetness and plum and grape notes or the original version of Le Jardin d'Amour-Max Factor, but not as complex or lovely. There is a powerful, dark smelling, purple-blue feel to the scent, cool florals(hyacinth, lilac, violets, lov) without sweetness, a bit of dirty musk, floral soapiness, and an old fashioned style. I do not smell tuberose(maybe fleetingly at first spritz), but it seems like a well mixed floral in which one type of flower is hard to pick out, other than maybe violets? I like the scent best right after spraying when it settles (like a dark elixir, liqueur). I actually had a small sample and gave it to my mom because it smelled to me too much like an older ladies style(no offense meant, just something I’ve smelled on women over 65). Later, I kept smelling it on her when she visited and asked her which sample it was. Realizing it was moon dance, I bought a 5-ml decant. Hmmm...still smells too old fashioned to me, I thought, and put it away for a year. But it smelled great on my mom (a more modern interpretation of old fashioned ladies scents), with pleasant cool florals. It was a mild warm day with a little breeze when I smelled this on her. Very little dirtiness, bitterness then. I think unlike me who has sprayed this scent with a heavy hand to get full effect, I think less is more with this perfume. I think its beauty stands out without over-spraying, unlike other scents. Many here have described it perfectly...but perhaps this moon dance could be happening on a mildly warm Summer night instead of a cold Spring night? I like the smell of it better in my hair than on clothing, as more notes seem noticeable(not sure which ones, it just smells nicer). Something about it scratches my throat and the dirty musk is my least favorite aspect of it. I wish it had a little sweetness and tartness to balance out the bitterness and dirty musk. I do find it intriguing, but not enough to buy more of it. I am going to try this again with a lighter hand on a warmer day and see how it does and report back. 7/10 Edit: I enjoyed it most on a warm summer night. Much more tart/fruity, floral, and less bitter, less dirty. It is unique though and does have an 80's vibe about it. There's just something intriguing about it. Still have mixed feelings on this one, as sometimes it smells just so nice and other times the dirtier parts come out, which I like much less. I think warmer humid weather brings out its best side, but I think it sings at night best too.

FINALLY, a JHAG fragrance that I can wear!!! This is a house that I have really struggled with. I have tried four or five of their fragrances, and this is the first one that doesn’t make me nauseous, and not only that—-I really, really enjoy this one. JHAG tends to go heavy on the ambroxan and Iso E super, and I really don’t like that. I don’t get anything like that with Moon Dance. Moon Dance is from the JHAG Luxury Collection, and it is a beastly, vintage feeling animalic floral fragrance. Mainly tuberose and violet making it slightly powdery. It is balanced out by Woods, and there is something slightly resinous about this making it balsamic. The opening (1st 30 minutes) is a bit stinky and animalic, but definitely floral. This fragrance is blended quite nicely, so it’s actually really hard to distinguish individual notes. I saw some comments where this was considered an old lady perfume, and I can agree with that, but I tend to like those types of fragrances. That being said, I do think that a man can wear this one. There is something rather deep and intense about this one. I am so happy with this one, and would like to add it to my collection at some point. it doesn’t take a lot, and this will last you all day.

Moondance reminds me of a less sweet Gucci Guilty Elixer which I already own. It is a lot of violet, rose and patchouli with some sweetness, not excessive and tuberose. It smells like expensive lipstick and very purple like the color of the bottle. I would have called this perfume purple patchouli or violet rose. I get more violet and rose than I do tuberose. In fact, I can't really sense tuberose at all. It is like the violet, rose and patchouli weakened it considerably. There is something tart here like tart cherries or plums that gives this the same fruitiness that is in the Gucci Guilty line. I like this a lot. Too bad they discontinued it. If you like this and miss it try the Gucci Guilty line, there might be a flanker in that line that would give you the same vibe as this fun purple fragrance. Edit: the more I smell this the more I want it. It is super beautiful. Upgrade to love. Why do these stupid companies always discontinue their best stuff? Also, if you love Zoologist Nightingale you will love Moon Dance as well. The rose/violet combo sings in both. In other words if you love purple and the smell of purple 💜 like I do moon dance is a must have.

JHAG Moon Dance is an old-school floral, loaded with tuberose, rose and violet. I'm pretty sure that the list of notes provided on this page is incomplete, because this perfume also contains something herbal and bitter which is not listed. Upon spraying it, I was immediately reminded on all those grandiose 1980s florals, especially Paloma Picasso EDP! Moon Dance is not so 'green' and bitter as PP, but it does contain the same sharp, piercing, powdery Arabian rose (and carnation?) As the fragrance develops and tuberose begins to reign supreme, aided by super-powdery violet and rose, I'm also reminded of scents such as Cacharel LouLou. So, to cut a long story short (Spandau Ballet 1980), Moon Dance is best described as a crossbred between Paloma Picasso and LouLou. It's a mature, retro fragrance; definitely not a safe blind-buy, unless you are a fan of the 1980s mainstream perfumery. Moon Dance is not so strong and potent as some other fragrances from the JHAG luxury collection (such as Metal Chypre), but if you're careless with the trigger, it can give you a solid headache!

I smelled this before seeing the notes. When I came on Fragrantica I was pretty surprised. I get stank jasmine, violets, grapes, civet and incense. Tuberose is more of an afterthought honestly, the main floral here is jasmine for me. It’s animalic. Simultaneously sticky-wet and powdery dry smelling. There is that Robotussin fruitiness that others mention. My review may have not sounded flattering, but I really really like this. I absolutely do not want to smell like it, but I can’t stop sniffing my sample. It’s so unique. I’ve never smelled a modern perfume that’s anything like this; I haven’t smelled vintage Poison and it doesn’t smell like present-day Poison. This is very moody, sexy, and gothic. I picture it on a Victorian vampire. Edit: I've since smelled vintage poison (and its become one of my favorite perfumes,) and no, Moon Dance is not akin to vintage Poison besides the sticky plum/grape impression

Even though it also brings to mind Luna, the black cat from Sailor Moon, this reads as a straight-up whimsigoth scent to me. A super-indolic tuberose layered with candied violet and patchouli. It’s seriously dirty in an indolic way, and seriously sweet at the same time. Powdery, with a faint smoky/incense-tinged haze. I don’t really get anything “celestial” in a luminous sense, but heavy, night-blooming white florals under moonlight fit the concept perfectly. Opens with an unlisted musk note that is slightly animalic. Very well blended, it is difficult to pinpoint each flower in this fragrance. They are balanced during most of the development of this perfume. The rose is more noticeable in the drydown, as the violet and tuberose fade. It feels as if you were holding a bouquet of flowers on a hot and humid day. Leans feminine, moderate sillage and excellent longevity. Can be worn during fall/winter and spring/summer nights.

I want to like this and I do. I like the memories I associate with it but I dont want to wear it? It is almost confusing. This smells of the prayer sticks we burn while obviously praying and slowly the whole house smells of this beautiful sweet smell. I relate to this scent, it is indeed beautiful. However i do not want to smell of an incense stick. It is so nostalgic otherwise.

Tested this in sephora and on the back of the bottle they have the notes listed. I swear i saw oud written. If so that would explain the woodiness which i smell most combined with slightly menthol tuberose and violet. It smells effortlessly rich and classy, deep but also fresh. I do also notice a body lotion smell in this. Its strange but special. Also unisex.

I had to chose between Moon Dance and Liquid Illusion. I chose Moon Dance. Its stark, bitter and tough in the beginning. Seems more of a masculine scent for a powerful woman. Powdery from the violet and cold in the same time. I really love it. High performance with moderate sillage. A very good addition to my collection.

I have never found a JHAG fragrance that has worked for me but that has all changed with Moon Dance. Musk is not listed but is present and it’s dark....beautiful. Moon Dance is an animalic floral scent with patchouli. There’s powder in here too, I’d catergorize it as a modern vintage that’s easy to wear.

Moon dance in a cheap, smokey night club. Nothing more. Starts very sharp, resinous, herbal, turns into something undefined to end finaly as a flavour of banality. Totally overrated - not this parfume only but the whole brand JHAG. Never ever buy it blind.

I actually really like this but not on me. It's good on husband. Very unisex sweet, powdery, woody violet rose combo. Touch of incense, touch of tuberose and these give it a dark creaminess. On me, I find it much too woody for myself.

It is very similar to ROMANTINA from this same house, which is one of my all time favorites! It's very much same frag, just more complex, rich and 'evening/date' type of perfume. A MUST HAVE!!

To me this is a slightly fruity, slightly sweet, indolic jasmine. Getting some light musk notes in the drydown now. Very nice.

Not sure what possessed me to purchase a full x 75ml new bottle of this fragrance. I tested Amouage "Memoir Woman" and found it to be quite nice. However, there are heavy, animalic notes in Memoir Woman, which I find hard to push through. JHAG "Moon Dance" was suggested as a possible alternative. On my skin, the opening of Moon Dance is super rough. There's a persistent opening note or accord that I find unpleasant. I smell something akin to dried fruits, or plum wine in the opening. Moon Dance quickly develops as a powdery, dusty, dry, violet-centric fragrance with a bit of tuberose, some patchouli I suppose. The fragrance does not seem to morph much on my skin. Performance isn't that great. And there is zero sillage. Reminds me of Jacques Fath "Rosso Epicureo," a perfume I really dislike.

This is a dark, sweet, slightly resinous, slightly dirty unisex scent for the Fall or early Spring. It’s deep, rumbly loud, rough around the edges but smooth at the core. It’s sexy, it’s provocative, and it’s not for the faint of heart. I’m thoroughly impressed by this one. I also want to add that I feel the name of this scent is misleading. To me, Moon Dance evokes silvery sparkle, something ethereal, light and airy. This is not that. It’s dark, thick, glows and syrupy sexy. Should’ve called it Moon Elixir or Lunar Potion or something like that.

Preface: one of my top 5 favorite fragrances of all time is Alkemia's Hexennacht. I read that Hexennacht is supposedly super similar to Poison, and that Poison is supposedly similar to JHAG Moon Dance. So Moon Dance should have been a safe blind buy, no? No, it was not. Based on all the reviews, I had such high hopes for this one--but something about it went wonky for me. Based on the listed notes, I'm not sure exactly what went wrong, but I suspect that it most likely was the tuberose. I love the tuberose in Gucci Bloom and Miu Miu Fleur D’Argent, but strongly dislike the tuberose in Elie Saab Essence No. 9 Tuberose--is it because it's that "bubblegum" type of tuberose? I have yet to meet a violet that I did not like, so I don't think it was the violet that was problematic for me. I do not exactly know, but I would like to find out. It would appear that lots of folk like this, and you might, too, but I would strongly recommend obtaining a decant or sample before blind buying.

Oh, it's a very heavy perfume... The first things I can smell are tuberose and roses, a lot of roses. Then only a roses and patchouli. It is too overwhelming and heavy for me, very vintage. It smells to me like a hug from a mature lady who looks very feminine, but at the same time she is aware of her age and does not try to look younger. This perfume is the same - it is aware of its mature smell and does not try to be any younger, but rather tries to seem even more mature. I'm not a fan of vintage perfumes, so for me it's a miss.
