Noiressence

Intriguing formula, Carlin hiding all the juicy stuff within the accords but it's pretty straight up I thought. The leather base prominent and iris poking through, I love the smell of it but not wildly original. I need to sniff it again to be honest but I liked it very much. Anything of note about the formula? 1% Fleur d'oranger which I know from using the expensive absolute, is quite easily masked. I don't recall smelling it in this, so yeah...I'll have to revisit? 1/3 of the formula is hedione which is not uncommon but is probably what's supporting those iris (and barely detectable Orange blossom) notes from popping through.

100% unisex, more for fall and winter with the notes of leather, ink and iris. I will give to my husband. Very original, I agree with the description: "Opaque black bursting with light. A leathery floral scent that doesn't fall into any particular category." It is a niche scent for sure. Do not blind buy. Leathery orange with a hint of distant flowers and cigarettes, interesting coz I struggle to confirm the cigarette note even when it`s listed, and here it is not mentioned but I feel it quite clear. Not much to say about it, not too impressed overall.

Strongest notes are black pepper, citrus, leather, orris, and musk. Orange leads at the beginning but fades quickly to a more generic citrus scent. This reminds me a lot of Etat Libre d'Orange's "Malaise of the 70s" which is dominated by orange/citrus, black pepper, leather and only swaps ambrette/heliotrope for orris, giving it a similar creamy floral aspect underneath all the leather and pepper and musk. Like "Malaise" (and the very similar "Sex Pistols") it skews a bit too masculine for me to wear. Like a clean, tough guy in a leather jacket and a citrus cologne, macho but impeccably groomed. So yeah, not really my thing, but gentlemen take note.

Powdery leather. Sweat. Something I'd run away from... But yet again, leather is not my favourite thing in the world, so no judging here. Was very curious to catch a whiff of the ink accord, but can't make it out. Perhaps I don't know what to look for...

Smells like a Loreal for Men shower gel (cheap chemicals). I don't mind it in a shower gel but as a niche perfume, no. Cementing my disdain for this brand.
