Visionary Eye

JusBox is one of those houses who has deliberately employed only the best of the best perfumers. There are no freshmen perfumers here. When I sample perfumes, and I often do, I have these odd hopes that I don't fall in love (which necessitates buying a FB, which, is oftentimes over $200). JusBox house seems to hit all the addictive dopamine buttons for me. And, it has happened again. When I saw that they had this new release out, it was only in Europe at first. So, when The Scent Room in Dallas advertised that they had it, I immediately went to check it out. . Since I rarely fall in love with a fragrance in the stores (my nose has smell ADD when encountered with too many fragrances). I sprayed some in a blotter, and also purchased a couple of samples. On my ride home I was getting these absolutely brilliant wafts of a creamy, Vanilla, Sandalwood & Iris with some herbs. Also, and it's not listed, but Im sensing a lovely Tonka Bean base that's gorgeous. Wow! How unique this is! This is an amazingly well- made perfume with a 6' sillage. I knew within 15 minutes that I'd happily be buying a full bottle. . I don't quite understand how this perfume ties into David Bowie, but I do appreciate the beautiful homage to him. . I highly recommend getting the full sample kit. You'll fall in love with several of this house's masterpieces. . Thank you Mr. Ropion. You're amazing. . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh good, you made it. Let me guess: you’ve breezed past this gem before, haven’t you? Tragic. This fragrance, an herbal-iris marvel, is pure Bowie—a star-man wrapped in sharp, aromatic splendor, floating just out of reach of the mainstream. You may have missed it because it’s not trying to be obvious. It’s cool, calculated, and criminally underappreciated. Let’s start at the top. Bergamot opens the stage, crisp and bright, like the first blinding spotlight in a darkened theater. Then lavender and thyme join the act, weaving a sharp, aromatic chord that feels both grounded and celestial. And the iris? Oh, the iris—cold, clean, and breathtakingly sophisticated. It doesn’t coddle you; it commands, like Bowie himself in his Thin White Duke phase, impossibly composed yet electric. And yet, no one is talking about this one. Why? Too edgy? Too cool? Well, newsflash, love: life on Mars doesn’t care for your ordinary tastes. This is a fragrance for the daring, the restless, the uncontainable. It’s a scent that asks, “Do you wonder sometimes about sound and vision?” and then dares you to live in technicolor. So, stop faffing about. Get your nose on this masterpiece before it slips into the abyss of forgotten greatness. As Bowie himself might have said, “Turn and face the strange”—you just might love what you find.

Among the smelled fragrances of this line, this is currently my favorite. A splendid and unconventional Iris, spicy and combined at the beginning with absinthe and cinnamon, which give it a dual and fascinating aspect; there is also the presence of thyme, a note that I have rarely come across. The vanilla and woods in the drydown make it creamy and soft. An Iris therefore with a double identity, fabulously beautiful and unforgettable: like the one who inspired it, David Bowie, an eclectic artist endowed with that particular charm and glamour that none of us would ever forget.

It’s definitely Le Male DNA placed under a top-mid layer of violet leaf x orris root accord. The initial minutes may not remind you of Le Male, instead it is quite watery and powdery violet leaf, slightly metallic or even medicinal. I was intrigued by the opening, but quick twist and exposure of lavender-vanilla takes center stage, dries down to a fresh Le Male lets say. Not a bad fragrance but as usual I am against these crazy price tags, especially when they don’t come from one-man artisanal work, as keeping prices down is surely harder for small scale projects.

I absolutely love this fragrance! As a lover of Iris based fragrances I'm surprised the different spin Dominique Ropion as the Iris note in this fragrance doesn't smell dry, but damp if that makes sense lol. The Musk here is very noticable in the drydown alongside the creamy Sandalwood on me which adds to the character of this fragrance. On my oily skin I get about 6+ hrs

This smells nothing like Le Male. It's skanky, green, lipsticky and spicey. As a huge lover of Iris, I heard this was a very different take on the popular note. It did not disappoint, the wormwood gives the dirty green woody notes, wrapping around the lipstick Iris. Nothing like any other Iris scent I've smelt on the market. Nor could I compare it with another scent.

Another take on the Le Male, Reflection, L’Homme, Code, etc etc etc men’s powdery fresh iris and woods with a hint of sweetness but imo is the best I’ve smelled up to this point. Just has the most “satisfying” wear from start to finish with moderate performance, really saved the best for last in their sample set. Will be walking away with this

What a lovely scent . Fresh , slightly sweet yet aromatic and powdery . Sprayed this on my husbands shirt the evening prior and still smelled it emanating off his shirt 12 hours later. Very lovely and to me calming , I could even wear it myself , although I would say I much rather smell this on a man. So pleasant and perfect for everyday

Gorgeous fragrance. Much better than Le Male to my nose (as someone who likes both) but absolutely horrible sillage and longevity. I'd buy a bottle if the scent didn't disappear like a breath.

The people at Jusbox kindly gifted me a travel size bottle of Visionary Eye when I purchased a discovery set. I really love the iris note, it gives an elegant sense of cleanliness that I truly enjoy. The only reason I haven’t bought a full bottle is that the longevity and projection are subpar. I still have a bit left in my bottle to decide whether I’ll go ahead with the purchase, but with so many options on the market, it’s very likely that I won’t.

I like it, i really do, but its too close to something my dad owns, prada luna rossa sport i believe it is. Honestly, maybe even too close to the others in the line, the first thing that came to mind was me smelling prada black at sephora with my gf at the time, a year ago. Maybe if you like prada but you wanted a lil bit of class, then you can get this but too redundant. Objectively good tho

Fresh, cean and powdery burst of iris at the opening Along with some dry wood and violet that are giving it wet and earthy qualities As it dries there are some herbal and aromatic, slightly spicy accords becoming more noticeable, accompanying the iris Soft and clean musk in the base

I got this on clearance, 50% off as the store in Australia was no longer stocking Jusbox. It’s an interesting powdery sent with a lactonic quality but there’s no way it’s worth the RRP.

If you’re into powdery, dusty iris, sprinkled with lavender, citrus and aromatic herbs, but you still want some vanilla, cinnamon and sandalwood in the background, Visionary Eye might be your thing! It’s reminding me of Chanel’s Comete and Chanel 19 Poudre, with the same exact style of cold, dusty iris, obviously blended with different notes, but it’s in the same family of perfumes! I don’t like iris heavy perfumes, didn’t like Chanel’s take on iris and I don’t like Visionary Eye either! Keep in mind, it’s not my preferred scent DNA, I am not saying these fragrances are bad. I am sure that anyone who likes iris will love all of these deeply. Compared to some other floral forward perfumes from Jusbox, this lasts better and is overall better value for money!

Oh how I wish I loved this :(. It's lovely - as others have said, a very unique interpretation of iris. Cool, almost metallic, clean, herbal. I have tested this in cool, moderate, and warm weather - all with the same result. 12 sprays and it completely disappears on my skin. While longevity is moderate when sprayed on clothing, it truly opens up on skin, which is what makes it beautiful....until about the 45 minute marks where it completely disappears and I smell nothing at all. Unsure if it is my skin chemistry, or if I go anosmic, or if it is simply meant to fade into oblivion :(. Unisex, leaning masculine - although extremely cool, chic and sexy on a woman - that is, until it disappears. Sadly, will not be purchasing a FB.

Straight on after the bath it’s a hybrid of clean with something downright unwashed in the background. Might have been more acute because I was literally just out of a citrus scented bath. This smells ultra modern, cold and not worth the price point. It also didn’t go anywhere but to a generic modern male leaning scent, on me. I have the tester box so look forward to working through these but as the first it a nah, not anything much, from this Bowie fan. Update : Faded fast. This is the Tin Machine/Never Let Me Down of Bowie inspired perfumes.

Iris/orris is my favorite, so I thought I couldn't go wrong with this. It opens VERY aromatic, a combination of lavender and possibly that wormwood that I think gives it a herbal feel. It settles powdery and very musky. I cannot pin point what exactly, but something in this gave me headaches and felt nausea each time I wore it. Poor performance, 3-4 hrs max with soft projection.

More masculine fragrance. It is musky, for sure, and aromatic. Nice and clean, I like it on a man.

Visionary? This smells like someone’s grandma. Not mine, she’s too cool.

I liked this at first but unfortunately with daily wear I’ve noticed a very bitter green smell that’s really prominent, I think it’s the wormwood which I like in other fragrances but it’s a wet smell and here in this powdery setting just doesn’t feel right or work well and my nose involuntarily crinkles up as though I’m smelling strong ammonia whenever I get a whiff of it. I’ve tried layering it with various fragrances to either compliment or counter the bitter green smell but to no effect. They did David Bowie dirty with this!
