The Dark

On clothes or paper, this perfume does pretty much exactly what's written on the can - dark. Dark, earthy, woody. If you're not into that sort of scent, you will not like it, because The Dark goes to that darkness in not the most delicate ways. Even I find it a bit challenging, and I am a huge fan of these dark, earthy and woody fragrances. However, on my skin this fragrance becomes much, much darker, and to me, less pleasant. When I say "pleasant", this is of course 100% subjective as I have a peculiar sense of smell just like everyone. In any case, when I spray this on my skin, the scent becomes far more challenging and sometimes I think there is little beauty left, and only the challenge remains. Comparing then to the same fragrance sprayed on clothes is an interesting eye-opener: I find, in this case, that the scent on clothes is almost ethereal. Because the brain loves to compare. The first time I smelled it on my skin I was replulsed so much, I wanted to sell it immediately. Now, however, I have grown to accept it and even enjoy it to some extent. I am curious to see where my journey with The Dark will go, in the future. EDIT: A year and a half later, and I am in love with The Dark! It's incredible, to my mind, that such an exquisite olfactory concoction is sold for so little money. I bought a 2nd bottle because I suspect it'll be discontinued. If it were sold by a famous niche brand, it would surely survive, but with the Just Jack brand behind it, it's probably doomed.

I just got it. It was a blind buy for no reason. And now I'm so puzzled. For me, on my skin, it smells like sweat of a young man. After the primary shock I can't stop thinking: how on earth did they create sweat out of saffron and roses? After a small walk in the sun (I live in the Middle East, it is sunny here) it burns out to a nice powdery geranium smell. Potion making 101 I suppose.

The opening is very barnyard-like, when the drydown begins it turns into a very tolerable oud note with some rose in it, the underlying "barnyardy" stays the whole time. I don't know how to label this, it's not bad at all, but I really have no idea on when I could wear this, it's certainly not for the faint of heart.

I am really lucky as I bought it for £6 as an open bottle from Notino. This is the worst smelling fragrance I have ever smelled. I can't describe it in the words how it smells. Pungent, off putting and excess of oud. I keep this with me as a trophy 😂

The weirdest perfume in my collection. The first 10 minutes it's horrible. Then it's interesting and while it lasts, it's bearable, but not even interesting anymore. Thanks for the good tip - spray only on clothes. And how can I find the cow notes? Would like to suggest to add to top notes in description.
