Wild Orchid Eau de Parfum

I'm reviewing a newly opened bottle, so the profile may change over time. The scent is silky smooth, intensely floral, with very strong projection. The flowers are beautifully blended, with no one predominating. The honey note is very delicate, just a hint of sweetness, without an overpowering nectar aroma. The citrus notes are subtle. I detect the rum, vanilla and balsamic drydown like in the original. The composition is similar to Velvet Orchid, but it performs much better on my skin; the original lasted few hours less.

On some sites this is marketed as for men, and the other one – also by Just Jack, in a transparent purple bottle with the same name - for women. But this is also more feminine leaning; perhaps the other one is - judging by the reviews - sweeter. I was really pleasantly surprised by this one. Not immediately, though. The opening of Wild orchid is quite refreshing and uplifting... for a minute. Then, for some reason, that labdanum feels the need to jump in and ruin it (I had a similar experience with Suede Orris, but here it just delivers a sharp bitter herbal punch). Luckily, it is soon 'diluted', covered by the floral notes. Initially mostly rose, but then I also get jasmine. After some 20 minutes this evolves into a very nice complex scent: mostly floral but with woody, earthy and leafy nuances in the background (I guess, to represent the 'wild' part), but all is very likeably blended. I like the myrrh touch in this one (and some others), which does have a light honey nuance to it. But I didn't get any honey initially (and I don't mind it). No sharp citrusy or other screechy vibes; solid performance.
