Kai*Rose Perfume Oil

I'm a rosarian and I could write ad nauseum about the fragrances of different rose species and cultivars. Although there are thousands of roses throughout the world, there is a distinctive perfume recognized universally as "rose". I find this fascinating. There was a time in my life I decided I must wear "only" rose based perfumes, because they seemed to be an external manifestation of "me". After trying and owning so many rose perfumes I can't even remember them all, I decided that, ironically, I wasn't a huge fan of wearing the smell of roses. After some more time I realized I wasn't very fond of rose perfumes because, to me, none truly evoked the beauty and mystery of the aroma of roses. (Many rose fragrances smell "alive" when they are in their bottles, i.e. Fleur de Thé Rose Bulgare, Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose, Jo Malone Red Roses, Avon Roses Roses; but as they mix with my skin, etc. they lose their magic). Kai Rose is the opposite. In the bottle it smells like rose perfume oil...but on the skin...it's resplendent and outstanding. I thought I would layer it with my beloved Kai, but I love Kai Rose so much, I wear it on its own. To my nose it smells like an array of freshly bloomed cream-and-pink, sweet Double Delight roses, in a garden near lemon and orange blossoms, on a warm, sunny day. I don't pick up gardenia as a note on its own (unless layered with Kai, of course). Kai rose makes me feel euphoric, and positive. It is the energetic yin to Kai's relax, calming yang. I treasure it.

I underestimated this beauty of a rose fragrance. Perfumed oils have never really smelled that great on me (maybe I wasn't wearing the right kind) but literally this smells unbelievably intoxicating. This is so rich and ethereal at the same time. A lovely sillage for at least 3 hours and then it becomes one with your skin. I smell amber, gardenia and rose. My lanyard from my keys smells strongly of this and my jean jacket that I have been wearing with this on smells of the most intoxicating ambery rose feminine smell, similar to the drydown of Stella! I love and have Stella as my signature from time to time so if they make an eau de parfum of this, I definitely am getting it. However, the perfumed oil seems to be so strong on its own and complex as well. It does change throughout the day which is the beauty of it.

I recently repurchased Kai Rose perfume oil. It's very pretty, light and natural smelling. This is more of a realistic rose like passing roses growing in a garden somewhere. The original Kai DNA is present for sure, but it stays in the background. This is definitely a rose scent with white floral accents, but it's not an overpowering rose. It's a very polite fragrance. It does last a long time, but it doesn't have strong sillage. I'm on the fence about whether I like this one or the original Kai better. I also have Child perfume oil by Susan D. Owens, which I love, and that is sort of a tropical white floral. But when I want a rose, there is none better than this oil. I love it.

I found it. After hundreds of rose perfumes I've found the one. I have no words to really explain the softness, the shyness, the femininity of this rose.

Young, sweet rose. Very pleasant. Clean.

Like the original but rose added. Someone else said, a shy rose. It's not big and declarative. Not sure if there is Jasmine or other notes in this, that others are getting at. Kai Rose continues the light and airy floral aspect of the original. It doesn't overpower, and again reminds me of small 90s soaps in little shapes that were meant to be decorative and not used. It's fresh and clean, but not wet. A true "powder room" scent. Very classic.

rose perfumes almost invariably turn pee-smelling on me; this one did not! instead it goes from gloriously fresh rose to an almost gourmand candy vibe before settling down as powder. i wish i liked either. sillage is very soft, longevity was 12+ hours on my bathrobe but ~3 hours everywhere else. edit: the edt is more powdery, the oil more candy-y

The gardenia definitely comes through more prominently in the beginning, almost overpowering the Rose, but the rose and gardenia notes eventually harmonize beautifully after about an hour or two of wear. A simple but elegant fragrance.

Mostly rose (unsurprisingly), a classic sort of scent that you'd find in guest soaps or vintage cosmetics. A light and pretty old-fashioned type of floral.

Very very soapy. Stings my nose a bit. There are nice elements too, a rose oil aroma and an indolic jasmine are present. Definitely some chemicals here. Body lotion vibe. Verdict: meh. Original Kai is better.

This smells Victorian old-school vintage to me, at least on a cotton pad. The rose is really overwhelming for my nose and whatever the white flowers note is (some kind of jasmine aroma chemical I suspect) pushes it further into that territory. It reminds me of decorative rose soaps you're not supposed to actually use that many older women seem to favor for guest bathrooms mixed with a hint of potpourri. A disappointment for sure.

Very soapy but green and clean rose, gardenia is still very permanent in here and does smell like original Kai but with rose. Very clean soapy, out of the shower kind of scent. My husband likes it, not as much as the original Gardenia but this one is pleasant too. Its been about 3.5 hours and its going strong, it did turned very soapy. It smells like rose gardenia soap, im not loving it, but im stuck between like and dislike, so if you like soapy fragrances this is for you. I dont think i will be reaching for it much, i have fresh rose scent I love more, like Prada Rose from infussion line, red roses from jo malone or a la rose from MFK, Also La Colle Noir by Dior privet line. They are all different rose scents but i love them more than this one.

Just received my tiny bottle. I wonder if they will eventually make this in the edp like reg. Kai. I smell a beautiful Rose with a Gardenia that makes it very creamy. I think the Magnolia blends in to keep it modern and airy. I think it will be wonderful to wear on its own esp. at night in the summer or layered under some of my other rose perfumes. Not the most groundbreaking fragrance but this is done well. If you love regular Kai oil I can see you loving this one. I do get very animalic undertones wafting in and out. Might be more complex then I originally thought. I will have to keep wearing it to figure it out. Enjoy your day out there.

This is a review of the eau de parfum. It's Kai! But with a very heavy dose of rose that transforms it into a distinct scent. It's clean, soapy, and a bit vintage smelling thanks in part to the combination of rose and jasmine. The gardenia is there, but in the background. Rose Kai very linear and is all mid-notes - no top, no base, all floral. The original Kai walks a fine line between modern bohemian and imposing grand dame, and this one straddles a similar line, but the velvety rose rounds it out and makes it a bit softer. It's nothing wildly special, but it's a nice, clean, fresh bouquet.

I ordered it as I am a big fan of Kai in general. Kai Rose disappointed me. From different reviews I'd read, I'd hoped that it would be a gardenia and sparkly, light rose combination. Here, at least on my skin, I can smell heavy rose as if you took rose petals, put them into a small box to keep the scent and they dried - that's Kai Rose on me. Gardenia is barely noticeable under the rose veil and as much as I'd love to love it, I just can't.

fresh, floral, and rose bomb. this oil will last forEVER. even after showing, it will linger. That's what I love about it! I woke up and could still smell on clothes & skin. really pretty....not offensive..... Rosey & clean. I can see the soapy rose references. The white florals and rose oil play really well together. I can't imagine someone not liking this unless they really really hate the smell of fresh flowers and rose oil.

Smells like scented paper goods from a big box store. Cheap and artificial. A disappointing blind buy.
