Lamar

Just when I thought I had my wishlist for the Christmas season finalized, I made the horrible, wonderful decision of sampling this perfume. I had it in my jar for over a year now, it was one of those random ones you get from God knows where and it never crossed your mind to try it so you forget about it. Well, I'm trying to clear my sample dish out and really wear the ones I've kept around before I decide if they're full bottle worthy, and I finally got around to cracking this one open. A few swipes on the skin and I was almost reluctant to even smell it. I assumed it was gonna be a middle eastern, rose, oud, amber scent based on the packaging. I don't even think I'd bothered to scroll down far enough on fragrantica to check the notes list. Today that all changed. I got the most delicious creamy fruit note I'd ever smelled in perfumery. I kept smelling my skin again just to make sure that this was really happening. It might have been a dream for all I knew. This scent was just too damn delicious. A look on fragrantica to see what it was finally all about and I'd say that yes, I get the pinapple note at first. It's uber realistic but still candy-glazed, like a pineapple upside down cake made with freshly cut pineapple, not the jar stuff. As it wears on, the naturalness does fade and in comes the red berry smell. As it wears on, it becomes more of a skin scent, and now it's become a delicious fruity bubble gum smell. This smells like hubba bubba on steroids. While avoiding smelling overly synthetic somehow. I've had my nose, quite literally almost glued to my nose for the past several hours. Wanting to know if it's going to change or morph into something that I could be less impressed with, that I could justify living without this scent for a little bit longer. But no, this scent has some development and does go through changes, but none of them were less than a total love for me. I do fear I might be totally obsessed with this fragrance. I'm gonna have to figure out a way to procure a bottle as soon as possible. If it weren't the gifting holidays where I'm obligated to spend hundreds of dollars on other people (I have a big family) I'd already have a bottle on its way to me. I may just wait and see if I get any Christmas $ of my own as a gift to put towards a full bottle, but one things for sure: I won't be able to settle down until I own this. I could already see this shooting to the top of my favorites shelf, and quite possible becoming my next signature. It's that good, and I could see it being worn year round, in every possible occasion.

Pineapple—but not a fresh, airy pineapple. This is a lush, ripe, juicy, lightly spiced grilled pineapple, the kind you get in a rodizio restaurant. The apple and berries makes this heady and sweet. The floral notes don't bloom as much on my skin; rather this stays tropical and fruity. Woods and coriander emerge on the drydown, and amber, vanilla and musk bring depth. I find myself vacillating on whether it's more feminine or unisex but actually it's probably pretty unisex; it smells equally as nice on my husband as it does on me. I personally do not get the comparisons to BR540; they might have a similar thesis but the execution is different, at least to my nose. This stuff is potent; dense, weighty, richly textured. The longevity is quite good and projection is moderate to strong, even on my dry skin and chemistry that drinks perfumes quickly. I... do overspray, a bit, but it's more of a personal problem rather than any issues with the performance. The bottle is also quite pretty in an ostentatious rococo kind of way. (And heavy; you could probably use it as an impromptu weapon if needed.) Everything about this fragrance, from the scent to the receptacle, is loud, attention-grabbing, flashy. I wouldn't recommend Lamar if you want to give clean, effortless vibes; this is a fragrance for hedonistic maximalists. And definitely not blind-buy safe. That said, Lamar is definitely one of my more complimented perfumes. I pulled the trigger on a full bottle in June after coddling a precious 5 mL sample for months. On almost every occasion I've worn Lamar out since then I've gotten a compliment; it would probably be even more frequent if I weren't an inveterate hermit.

I bought this 2yrs ago and honestly forgot that I even had it. There wasn't even a dent in the bottle lol. I think I sprayed it once and I was kind of "meh..' about it and drew for another pineapple fragrance (Madawi) instead. Yesterday, I happened to stumble onto this while cleaning my closet. I sprayed it and that previous "meh..." turned into an "ooooohhh...". I think what initially didn't impress me about this fragrance was my expectation towards the pineapple note. I was initially expecting a "bright and fresh pineapple". This pineapple reminds me of the pineapple slices that are found on a Honey Baked Ham. Now, I am in no way saying that Lamar smells like a Honey Baked Ham lol. I am saying that the pineapple is "baked & caramelized". The sweetness takes on a "syrupy & dense quality" and those qualities trail down to the middle notes to create "jammy florals". The base notes only continue to amplify the dense syrupy aspect of this fragrance, as vanilla/amber add their finishing touches. It's worth mentioning that I bought this around summer and I think the dense syrupiness threw me off. I know plenty people say that this fragrance shines during hot weather, in my opinion, this pineapple is way too heavy for hot weather. I guess that would explain why I instead opted for Madawi during hot weather. As far as performance, sillage, and projection; they're all exceptional. I know a lot of fragrances have "high-end prices", but this fragrance really feels and smells high-end. The bottle design is also beautiful btw. I'm glad that I gave Lamar another chance.

My expectations were a nice smelling synthetic sweet, fruity florall fragrance, that projected OK and sat in the higher end designer-like frags. I was dead wrong, it's a very pleasant surprise of a unique (to me) realistic pineapple and rose fragrance settling down to a bed of amber and vanilla. So well blended that you can barely smell the individual notes, but only because you know the fragrance pyramid. This is not a feminine fragrance, it's very unisex, it just has a touch of stereotypical feminine notes like the Rose and white florals that may seem to put it in the feminine ballpark, but it's not. What it is, is a gorgeous, fresh, yet very versatile fragrance, and to me is all day, everyday, any occasion, gender or event scent. The price is also great for what it is. I loved this so much that I went and bought Aican, which is another gorgeous fragrance, and although I stated that this is not feminine, however if it was to be perceived that way, then Aican is the brother to Lamar. I am eyeing up Yasmine next :). This has decent sillage and longevity, as is the same with Aican. This one really needs to be smelled rather than reading a review like this, I highly think that it's extremely unlikely for you to dislike the fragrance, down to all what I've mentioned. It's 100% FB worthy, as is Aican, so God bless, enjoy and look after one another :)

I’m so happy I ignored a lot of these reviews and bit the bullet. The “masculine” descriptions terrified me, but I’m happy to report they are FALSE. This is completely unisex, and the only time I would consider this at all masculine, is put in the same room with love don’t be shy or any of the Burberry hers. To give even more perspective, my Bois Imperial is more “masculine” than this. To peg it down even further, my extremely masculine husband wouldn’t touch this with a 10 foot pole⭐️ All that being said and claims out of the way, it’s delicious. Pineapple baccarat all the way. It’s pineapple and rose, with that addicting air spun sugar, cotton candy facet that’s so addictive in baccarat DNA. It’s in here with added rose and pineapple, which imo takes this over the top. This smells like money, nothing cheap at all about it💛 The woman that wears this has her hair up in a sexy but demure bun, draped in nothing but pearls, Kim k style, walking around the house in matching open toe heels with a glass of champagne in hand because she CAN. She could also be an Arab princess that wanted to smell like sweet pineapples and rose that day. She’s wearing all gold, so this is fitting for a day of shopping at the Chanel store in Dubai. She’s definitely the boujee women who only wears designer handbags and would not be caught alive in sweats💛

Lamar is not perfect... and that is exactly why i like it as much as i do.. The pineapple in here is front and center and stays.. but it is not the tropical coconut beachy creamy pineapple. Its a spicy, maybe even peppery almost overripe pineapple. Exactly the way i prefer to eat them.. And then there is this mysterious kick in the back.. Aaron Terrence Hughes in his youtube review said "'something is off" .. and strangely enough that is exactly what i adore in this fragrance.. it has some kind of bite that never lets you forget you wear it.. Most fragrances (especially marketed towards women ) are perfectly cleaned up, sweet but not too sweet.. perfectly acceptable for anyone and everyone.. not an unpleasant or even unpolite note in sight.. Not lamar. I don't know what the ingrediënt is that gives it this "bite".. maybe it is the choice of musk or something like cashmeran. ?? . but in the background, right behind the pineapple it is always there.. Like when you sit in a warm room by the fire, but you are unconciously aware of the freezing outside cold radiating from one of the windowpanes behind you.. the fact that this cold is so nearby doesnt bother you, it makes the warmth so much nicer.. To me it is like that with Lamar and its strange "bite"..

Fragrance No. 120 in my collection, and finally, my very first Kajal. It had been on my wishlist for quite some time, and when I came across an online offer at about 50% off, I decided it was the moment to get it. I must say, I was expecting something different—more rosy, more overtly oriental. Instead, I discovered a fascinating blend that feels somewhat like a fusion of Baccarat Rouge 540 with brighter, sparkling notes. The opening, dominated by pineapple and green apple, adds an almost tangy twist, yet it’s beautifully balanced by a captivating sweetness from rose and vanilla. It’s an outstanding mix of floral and fruity elements—leaning, in my opinion, more toward the fruity side. The balance of the notes is superb, the evolution intriguing, and both longevity and projection are above average. As for the bottle, some might find it overly elaborate or even slightly kitsch, but to me, it’s a true gem. The atomizer is excellent, with just the right amount of pressure. My only minor, practical criticism is the shape of the bottle—it’s not the most ergonomic design, making it a bit tricky to spray, though it remains undeniably beautiful.

As a feminine woman, I thought I would post my take on this gorgeous and perfectly unisex perfume. Lamar is indeed a luminous and potent fragrance, it is powdery pineapple, Turkish rose, jasmin, red berries, cashmere/woody and so much more, perfectly blended together, and yes, there's even a spun sugar, baccarat rouge-esque note thrown in there for good measure. As it dries down I feel predominately the juicy pineapple, the powdery sweet rose, the vanilla, amber and some indistinct and resinous woodiness the most. It is a little tart but not sharp, to balance off all those sweet notes I'm guessing. Lamar is an immediate strong like, not a love, and that is probably because this is a true niche perfume that you have to grow into appreciating as it is quite complex, yet tremendously agreeable (in my opinion). I have a feeling that I am going to grow to love it as I continue advancing through my perfume journey. This potion is perfectly suited for spring/summer soirees and special occasions during the day, but can easily transition to night, as it is extremely long-lasting and highly projecting... not for the faint of heart!

I adore Lamar. It’s a sexy tropical, elegant, yet, fun scent. A very juicy, sweet pineapple with some citruses that bring just enough tartness to balance the sweetness. Right next to the pineapple I get bitter orange, or mandarin (not declared). The rose and the Jasmin are not noticeable, they are there just to create dimension and complexity so it’s not just a fruit punch. At the base I get a laconic (?) note that I recognize as well in Kajal Almaz. I don’t get musk, thankfully because I don’t appreciate the mix of musk and fruits, like in Kajal Dahab, Xerjoff Erba Pura, etc. So if those didn’t work for you, this might be the winner. The scent is very bright and fizzy but has good body. It will last the whole day and project very well. It’s pretty linear, which I actually prefer. I love Kajal as a house in general. You can smell the quality of the ingredients. Their scent profiles are innovative, and the bottles are gorgeous. Plus, the people behind it are awesome, creative, humble human beings that I had the honor to meet.

This is great! Fabulous surprise! Lamar opens with a tropical pineapple dream. It's incredibly realistic and juicy, and for the first couple of minutes it would seem this is going to be a solo performance. After a few minutes of the pineapple's acapella, the rose joins the song and they sing together beautifully! Such a cheerful combination. After about 45 minutes, the pineapple becomes much more muted, leaving the center stage to the Rose. Then the fragrance takes another turn, and evolves into a different melody altogether. The rose, which had been fresh and young, becomes veiled in amber, while musk and a hint of vanilla appear. Suddenly everything is very classic, very pleasant and warm. This fragrance evolves beautifully, each stage is markedly different and compelling in its own way. The ambery musk rose phase lasts the longest. Total longevity is about four or five hours on me, after which only a slightly sweet musky skin scent remains. Projection is really good during most of that time , but not crazy.

It's not available in retail here in Singapore so I got myself a decant to try after hearing much about it. Kajal, to my nose, is a very very well blended quality juice. I cannot recall off my head that there is a good juice that managed to blend pineapple and rose with some berries so well together. The pineapple is not all over you, it's there with every smell and mixes so well with the rose, which isn't in your face, like a twin fruit and flower together for ages. The rose is the main heart notes as there's supposed to have jasmine and magnolia in them too, so yes I'm getting a more flora rose in the blend. And there is this light powdery vanilla coming in and on the drydown with a few musculine notes, so very very well done and blended. There is nothing synthetic to my nose, it's top notch quality from the first smell at the opening. The projection is really good so a few sprays will bring you through the day. The silage is even better really really good silage. Easily a 9-9.5/10 juice for me.

A top shelf masterpiece blend. Its not something you daily, its too rich and royal (unless you're the Prince of Zamunda), but for your everyday blokes its a special occasion spring & summer night scent I wore this on Memorial Day night when it was in the high 60°'s and it jumped off my skin, got a ton of compliments. Its an attention magnet, everyone wants to know what you have on because the sillage of that dark rose is intoxicating to their noses Its truly unisex... but its built for confident and refined personalities. Its as masculine or as feminine as the wearer makes it. If you ran into Idris Elba at the Kentucky Derby "Grey Goose Vodka Party" he'd be wearing this You need to overspray on skin for it to last, but a few sprays on your shirt last 24hrs Scent 10/10 Performance 8/10 Sillage 10/10 Dry Down: 10/10 Uniqueness 10/10

Despite having a juicy pineapple note is the opening, this is NOT at all reminiscent of Aventus or Hacivat or any of the similar vibed ones !!! This has a beautiful rose which comes into its own after the top notes settle down and is a nice blended rose which is fliting in nature; as in, it neither overpowers nor does it disappear completely...it weaves its brilliance by going in and out like a boxer ! The magic begins once the amber, cedar, apple and vanilla starts becoming a sweetish caramelized sort of toffee smell ( the toffee sauce types!) The toffee smell along with a still the top juicy pineappley- rose...is where the magic is at !!! Def a banger !!! The silage and longevity deserve a postal code address of its own for sure ! Highly recommended !

I didn't like this at first because it was heavy on the rose...well look at me now it's one of my most worn fragrances. And why? because it gets so many compliments i've never had so many woman go crazy over a perfume, like it's just woman telling me I smell good. It's woman begging me to tell me what it's called so they can buy it for themselves. This one really gets attention, like you'll have woman chasing you around. And well if you're already a woman, then you're the perfect person to wear this because it does lean more feminine than masculine. Also the pineapple in this it's impossible to hate the pineapple in this. It's 50% fresh 50% sweet....making this an all year rounder. But probably surprising a few people who expect something more fresh.

When I started my fragrance journey, I was mesmerised by sweet, edible and playful perfumes... but very soon they started to bore me... its lovely to smell like a cookie or a sweet lychee desert, but there was this “edge” missing... a certain depth and darkness luring at the edges of your otherwise playful and happy perfume that keeps you alert and keeps others wondering if you happen to have a dark side... this perfume is the perfect answer to that... it’s sweet, playfull ... but it has this bite that keeps me interested even iffy wear it a couple of days in a row... like the difference between dating a 17 year old cheerleader with an all pink bedroom and the same girl 10 years and a lot of experience later... Lamar for the win

My absolute favorite right now and I can't express how much I love this bottle. I think the pineapple mixed with the rose scent it's a perfect combination for spring and summer. I tested it out right after I got this and sprayed only once on each wrist. After 13 hours I could still smell it but very intimate and to the skin at that point of course. I sprayed again earlier on my elbow area and was surprised at how much is projected after reapplying. I would suggest spraying heavy right now in the spring due to wind but at the same time it is a very strong fragrance so be warned. I would say that longevity and projection wise, it is similar to halfeti. All in all it is a phenomenal scent and full bottle worthy to me.

First impressions You first get smacked by a bomb of a tender smooth rose with a spicy depth coming from cardamom and coriander , then you realize that this smoothness is a blend fusion with tropical notes, sadly my nose couldn’t track pineapple instead there is a strong presence of passion fruit which takes the dominance of the parade from roses. After all that ... you literally can smell baccarat rouge dna but more sweet and not to complexe or mysterious one. Overall it’s a rosy tropical musky sweet fragrance It’s 51% more feminine but I don’t give a f word. It’s addictive seductive and mass appealing scent. Good projection beast performance I will give it 8.5/10

I just blind bought this and I am so excited. I know how irresponsible that is. I will update with my impressions once I have some experience to talk about, instead of sharing about how the hype and the bottle influenced me to just go ahead and use some Afterpay credit! Ok I have it now and wow I love it! It is very fruity with pineapple and berries as the dominant notes, but what I find interesting is what I interpret as a middle eastern flare. I think it is a rose note mixed with wood which feels slightly oudy to me but I guess it isn’t. Anyway this will do just fine and I love the bottle! Also this has nothing to do with BR540.

Bright, sweet juicy pineapple is the first thing I smell. I find that pineapple can be a little masculine on my skin but this definitely isn't. Nor is it overtly feminine. This is definitely a unisex fragrance. The wood gives it a smooth, cool note that really complements the sweetness of the pineapple and berries.. The rose is there but subtle and the white flowers just add a lovely indolic note. Something about a really good jasmine note is weirdly citrusy and mouthwatering to me and I get that with Kajal. It can be a slightly sweet fragrance but honestly, unless you really hate sweeter perfumes, I think anyone can wear this.

I received a sample of this through a recent swap and a monster was created because I now NEED this in my life. Which is funny as in theory I shouldn't really like this, I don't think I ever liked a perfume with a strong pineapple note in it (top note here but still), in later stages it's a musky rose (I'm also not a rose girlie tbh). Lamar is a super wearable but intriguing scent, perfectly unisex in my opinion. (the bottle is way too over the top for my liking, but I don't care much for bottles so that's ok) edit: Settled for a 10ml decant and happy with the decision.
