Sawlaj

Sawlaj is better that you can get from some other brands for the double or even triple price. It's very complex and... intellectual. It doesn't disturb you in any way - if you like the idea of amber-leather-spicy composition. Comparing to many other perfumes coming from the Middle East I enjoy Sawlaj to the full, spraying it all over me and not bothering about "too much" effect. Like a fragrant cloud it lingers on the skin or clothes, never sticking or boring. It's totally 24/7 scent with a clever balance of 'normality' and sophistication. People like it on me. I would love to have few more bottles as last-minute-gifts for friends, since it's very affordable and beautifully packaged.

I enjoy this tremendously. Although not listed, it has some cumin and possibly other similar spices in it. I would not describe this as a leather scent. I’d say it’s more of a gourmand. The spices and sweetness remind me of golden milk. The dry tea like substance sweetened with dates This is a powerful, mature, commanding scent. Age does not connote maturity, maturity does. The blend is perfect though and the depth insane. It is not off putting and to me brings me in closer for a deeper sniff. You should test this! I, for one, obsessively smell myself when wearing it.

Sawlaj is a male power scent,not unisex at all. Complexed Leather with animalic earthy touch and spicy sweetness citrusy in the opening. Dry down polishing everything in one overall masculine scent. You'll have to have a strong stance to wear this fragrance.. It was 7 days adventure to unpack Sawlaj. Love it when that happens! Can't wait for colder weather to see how it performs. I'll give it 8/10 for now. I think in a month or two everything is going to amp up and finalize the scent. Call it maturation, maceration, whatever.

Sawlaj is just masterfully blended. A completely wearable masterpiece. Instant love for me. Strong opening with a fantastic fruity, floral, leather mix. It's an attention-getter. In the far dry down is spicy and warm. Lasts more than 12 hours on skin, 24-plus on clothes. Just a straight up head turner for Fall and Winter. Day or night. Scent is 9 out of 10 Sillage is 9 out of 10 Projection is 9 out of 10 Longevity is a perfect 10 out of 10

A really great offering from the house of Kajal. What really baffled me is it’s similarity to Chanel Coromandel, at first I thought notes are messing up. I tried it again to re-confirm, just let go the initial blast of Sawlaj and wait for 30 mins max. and you will definitely see the similarities. On top of it, just compare the note pyramid of both and you will understand what I am saying 🤩. Try it and let’s have a debate 🤓

I blind bought this as I was unable to get a bottle of Roja’s discontinued Fetish without selling a kidney. The opening is a little unusual and I wasn’t sure at first, but as soon as the scent starts to dry down, that familiar smoky leathery DNA starts to shine. I’m very, very happy to have found something that scratches the Fetish itch and for such a great price.

Beautiful dry down! Smooth masculine fragrance with above average performance. Blossoms in cooler conditions. The fragrance profile evolves from a strong leather profile and settles on aromatic-vanilla-Vetiver drydown. Shukran Habibi!

Beautiful sweet spices, mixed with carnation and roses. Together with patchouli and leather combination, I really like this scent! A very very unisex! Powerful, long-lasting, makes a statement. 5/5

Instant love. Exotic yet wearable. Beautiful.

This is one of the best creations of Kajal house. Floral, very spicy, slightly citrusy, powdery at the drydown, uncommon smell, suitable for early winter, spring, fall and cool summer evenings. If you focus on Kajal's scents you'll notice that most Kajal creations have something spicy in common. A common spicy DNA. The pleasant difference with Sawlaj is the presence of rose, jasmin and carnation which smoothen the blend but still it feels quite oriental. Rare smell for western perfumery. I get the aroma from the lemons without their natural sourness. The lemons stay long time with me and only at the late drydown fade out. The strongest from the florals is the carnation. Then the rose which is very tamed and the jasmin. With that order. I also get patchouli, leather, labdanum and benzoin. With that order of strenght. The leather here smell very good and the patchouli is the dominant among them with rounded & slightly smoky-sub-sweet edges from the benzoin. The vanilla has only aroma and not sweetness. There's also mild vetiver and faint oakmoss. At the end when it becomes a faint skin scent I get clearly thyme. It is a long lasting scent with heavy sillage and projection for about 30-35 minutes. Then it calms down to a moderate one and quite quickly settles down on the skin. Still is easily detectable but it also feels discreet and safe. It's not a skin scent. Update It feels like Habit Rouge by Guerlain & Shaman by MiN New York house. Full with spices, very pleasant smell. Update When you are trying a strong scent always ask a friend if it is detectable. I was wearing Sawlaj (3 sprays, warm summer day) and after 5-6 hours I went to a friends house. When I came in I heard "wow what is this?" I thought that it was very subtle at that point but I was wrong. My nose has a problem with that scent. I lose it but it's still there. Strong stuff.

A fragrance that, to be honest, is decidedly masculine, yet masculine in a unique and refined way, combining strong virility with a certain androgynous character. It carries an authoritative personality, but at the same time it is a scent I would also describe as dramatic, theatrical, and narrative. At the opening, a bright lemon is perceived, but not in a fresh cologne sense: it is already paired with labdanum, so almost immediately the sensation shifts toward an amber-resinous accord with a veil of citrus. The lemon is short-lived; labdanum quickly takes over, creating a smoky, warm, “golden,” and slightly balsamic impression within the first few minutes. This opening makes it clear right away that Sawlaj is not a fresh fragrance: it is an amber-leather scent with an initial citrus misdirection meant only to give it momentum, while the heart is dark. In the heart, florals (jasmine and rose) emerge, but not to make it romantic: they serve to build a rich, almost “classical” body. The overall effect is that of spiced leather and amber, with a masculine (old-school) floral aura and a dry, slightly smoky backbone. Then, as it settles, Sawlaj brings vetiver and oakmoss to the forefront, while benzoin and vanilla soften the composition without turning it gourmand. They add just a touch of ambered sweetness and resinous warmth, rounding off the edges and preventing the fragrance from becoming a rough block of leather, moss, and vetiver. Overall, I find it an excellent “leather + carnation” construction, and I would probably define it as one of Kajal’s most important creations. Given its strong character, I wouldn’t call it an “easy-going” fragrance; it also feels more “adult,” I’d even dare to say “old school” (but with a sense of theatrical elegance). Excellent performance in terms of longevity and projection.

I'd like to write my thoughts about Kajal house. Their offerings feel very oriental and they are all about strog spices. This common spicy DNA in its offerings feels like grandma's old wooden box with spices lol! Exactly like that but it's a pleasant feeling. You must love spices and strange combinations (for a western nose). The only safe creation is Kajal Homme. The rest you must try them carefully. My favourite from Kajal house are : Kajal Homme, Salwaj, Fiddah. With that order. I'm very pleased from the performance of Kajal's scents especially from their longevity.

It's a nice perfume but don't buy it because of Hermes Bel Ami. When you spray them side by side they have some similarities for first 30s or so but then they go their own ways. Sawlaj is an amber forward perfume with a strong patchouli presence while Bel Ami is aromatic mossy with animalic touches. Having said that, this is still nice. And to @Sleimanaz, I don't get any cumin in it. I think it's your body chemistry.

It does remind me of the classic spicy leather from Bel Ami & Roja Dove's renditions, but it's got something else altogether going on—a soft powdery sweetness hovers over the leather since opening (presumably vanilla, benzoin, & patchouli)—making it more approachable, modern, and less fiercely masculine.

Warm and spicy, more spice than leather, and at a nice intensity. Unisex.

quite strong opening, a bit weird, but interesting. middle notes milder and drydown a complex woody dark vanilla. i wouldn't buy a full bottle at the moment, but i definitely like it, find it intriguing. it is very bold and unique, will use up the sample for special occasions. i think it won't become one of my intimate scents but i can see this working on me from time to time. the website says assertive and attractive, character and authority. i can see that... it is for THOSE days at work... you know?! strong sillage, lasts a very long time on my skin.

Ragazzi scusate, ma come fa questo profumo ad avere 4,15 di valutazione? L' ho preso guardando le note e leggendo le recensioni. È estremamente debole, 10 spruzzi e non senti niente. Ho più di cento profumi, ma una cosa così debole, leggera, che svanisce subito non l' ho mai incontrata. Non saprei dire che note ci sono perché non si sente niente! Da evitare.

Outdated perfume style, starts in a vintage style floral-balsamic floral but it goes very quickly to dry down which reminds me of Memo Iberian Leather/Orto Parisi Cuoium ... redundant if you have these types of leathery perfumes. The start is nice but it is not a finished product, it goes very quickly into the heart notes ...

Tried all Kajal fragrances through a discovery set with 3 ml samples (including Ruby which recently released). Sawlaj was, without doubt, my favorite of the entire Kajal collection. Coming next in the top was Lamar, Homme, IV, Dabah and Joorie.

maybe its just the batch that i got but this is the worst fragrance i have ever had. cant even make out the smell, poor sillage ,longivity all is bad just bad . i ordered it off of fragrance net for $150 backs.. all down the drain.

It’s weird that they don’t list cumin. On my skin it’s a cumin bomb. I don’t hate it, but wouldn’t have bought it if I knew how prominent is cumin in it.

Ok, one hour after the cumin bomb, the cumin is still there but in a much beautiful way. No regrets, happy to have bought it.
