Bois d'Ambre

My Sweet Amber Amber is now an essential part of the perfume industry because perfumers widely use it as an ingredient in creating most perfumes, and it gives the skin a unique, mysterious, and unforgettable aroma. There are two types of amber used in perfumery: ambergris and golden amber. Although each has its fantastic smell and personality, both are used to create perfumes for both men and women. Golden amber, unlike grey, results from mixing a type of resin, vanilla, and patchouli, getting a sweet and slightly dry essence. They produce it from scratch in perfumery factories or laboratories because it is a compound and not a natural ingredient. This makes it much more accessible than ambergris, so its use is more common. Among its prime properties, golden amber is used to balance notes by compensating for acidic and more sober tones with soft tones and fixing the fragrance to the skin. About Bois d’Ambre, the perfume is nothing new because it has been on the market for over a year. Although I had seen, tried and loved it right away, I waited for a splendid opportunity to buy it, and finally yesterday I got it with a worthy discount, a great value. In previous editions, this line entitled “Bois of” for the masculine and “Fleur de” for the feminine ones has honoured noble ingredients such as vetiver, cedar, and yuzu, up to the current amber. And once again, Lagerfeld relied on the nose of Emilie Bevierre-Coppermann, who had already created #bois de yuzu. Let’ see what she has created this time. Bois d’Ambre reveals semi-fresh chords, somewhat sweet and resinous, immediately from the first notes. The shades are very similar to those in other oriental and amber scents, such as Armani Code Profumo or The One for Men EAU DE PARFUM, so sweet, mellifluous, and dense. But Bois d’Ambre is not a clone; it simply has similar nuances. Despite citrus and aromatic fruits, I do not perceive the citrus accords as strong. Bergamot is subdued while the bitter shades of orange and the sweetish shades of plum prevail over an aromatic and grassy carpet. In the beginning, the aroma of the plum is like that of fresh and ripe fruit. A warm and fruity, enveloping opening. Several minutes after the initial spray, the green and aromatic notes of geranium leaves and sage emerge, warmed by the warmth of my skin. The aromatic charm of sage and geranium extends the liveliness of the citric and fruity tinge that opens the composition. In the heart, the sugary nuance persists. Indeed, it grows, and the plum now smells like caramelised cooked prunes. It is sugary and syrupy with dark, herbaceous, and aromatic overtones of sage, combined with the more rosy ones of geranium. My nose also detects spicy undertones reminiscent of cloves’ warmth. Instead, I don’t feel the characteristic smell of cedar wood shavings very present, perhaps mixed well with the other elements without dominating the scene. I would say that the middle phase is more aromatic than woody. Finally, Bois d’Ambre settles on cosy, amber, and sugary tones, which include a wonderful touch of vanilla and other resins. The amber accord now dominates above all the rest, always with a kind and never brash ways. Much of the sweetness is because of the tonka velvety touch, which mixes with guaiac wood’s warm and soft tones. A thin layer of amber remains on the skin, which lasts for a long time and, in some moments, recalls dry and slightly salty ambroxan. Bottom line, fall and winter days, but even spring and summer nights are the best time for wearing. It is a pretty simple amber fragrance, but it works well in many scenes. The quality is excellent, and I would say outstanding. Bois d’Ambre stays almost close to the skin, but its longevity is above average. To me, Bois d’Ambre seems inspired by the effervescent atmosphere that reigns during the cistus harvest in Andalusia, with the air full of woody amber aromas. Cistus ladanifer can be found all over the Mediterranean coast. This species of cistus is remarkable for the gum it produces in the summer, which has been used in perfumery for over 3000 years. The gum Labdanum has an exceptionally strong balsamic and ambery odour. I base the review on a 100ml bottle I have owned since August 2022.

all i see is 3 notes listed here, but im sure theres much more i get accords of hazelnut and cedar with hints of pepper and spices, the opening reminded me right away of D&G The One edp, but then it started getting a bit spicy fresh and a little bit sweet, the sweetness grows as time go by, sweetness of the likes of Lhomme Ideal edp then that sweetness kinda fades away to let the fresh spicy and ambery accords to show up more and more, u can tell that ambery vibe from the very start though.. imo this is a great compliment getter, criminally underrated! such an interesting frag, far from being linear like some frags of the same price tag, which is by the way below 40$ for a 100ml size bottle ( u might find it for cheaper prices) i like that this fragrance changes and gets interesting as the time goes by during the day or night, perfect for fall and winter and sometimes in spring, i dont sense the synthetic vibe much in this one (opposite to Bois de Cèdre) ... theres a whole lot more to say about this one but i'll leave it for my FULL review of it on the channel: Oh the Parfum if u guys wanna check out the first impressions video that i did of it and 3 other frags from KL u will find the video on the channel of the same name: oh the parfum..

This is such an interesting perfume. It's exactly what it says on the box, and yet, it still has so much more to it than any other perfume I've ever smelled. The first few minutes are full of sweet amber and smooth, almost creamy sandalwood. With something that almost smells like a freshly open, fizzy bottle of coke. It projects really well. Then after a few minutes, the sweetness dies down, and the sage comes out, along with something that's extremely masculine and almost reminds me of JPG's Le Male perfumes. It's an extremely simple, yet very complex scent. With so many nuances that you can't ever pinpoint them accurately. It changes with your mood, something very few scents are capable of. Overall, my only complaint with it is that the sillage doesn't last as much beyond the first 30 minutes, It still projects, but it isn't massive like the first few minutes. If you like "The Scent" line by Hugo Boss, which has a very similar sweetness and amber in it to this, then this is a worthy buy. And if you have both, try layering them together. You'll be amazed by what comes out.

They’re designer fragrances that don't try to change the world; they simply pretend to be the best possible iteration of a trend... And this one is a clear example. Fresh, citrusy, fruity, sweet, ambery... That's the script, very well developed and executed. What is surprising is that the composition is full of nuances that make it shine in an apparently unintentional way, especially in its fresh-fruity-amber accord. For me, it’s the quintessence of a “designer” scent: Here you have excellent versatility and good longevity with a moderate but persistent projection, perfect for the office and dates. All this in a fragrance that will please people easily and effortlessly - being charming without trying to be -. So nothing really new but something well done, with style and good taste. One of my favorite proposals of this current trend. I just know I'm going to wear it a lot.

After a blind buy of this amber scent, I will admit here and now I was not a fan of it. You see, the missus has a lot of feminine amber fragrances that project a mile long, and it triggered femininity. But I have to give Coppermann credit for she knows how to weave amber and citrus together at the top and have it segue into a slight cedar, slight clary sage and muted, refined masculine amber bottom that stays with you as it gets better and better. Good for evening and cooler climes, D’ambre goes from simple to sophisticated on your skin that will turn office heads. And the missus quite likes it on me , too. All at a great price from Fragrancebuy.

This is the perfume that I can describe in one Word "Fashion", it really gives out the smell of a man that wears expensive clothes. The amber is very well combined with bergamot, the scent is very pleasurable and safe for blind buy. Sillage- moderate Longevity- moderate Gender- more male Price- good value

Pretty close to Hugo boss The scent but with a feel of bubble gummy vibe in it. In the background, we can smell THE ONE but in my opinion you need to pay attention to it because it's not out loud. For the price you can be wrong. I blind buy it and i didn't regret it. 7/10

Really good hidden gem, cozy sexy inviting in a good way, smells much better than I thought

Initially A hint of bergamot, just as in the description. Maybe some pineapple. But this is not a typical 'fresh' scent. Not that it is 'unfresh' either :) More of a warm evening vanillin type of scent. Not that complex. Mostly faint bergamot and a vanillesque sweet and amber warm tone. Similar to Le Male Elixir by Jean Paul Gaultier. Not bad in any way. I kind oflike it, but it smells a bit cheap. Simple. Well worth the price if you are in to amber and vanillin. I paid 17 euros for a 50 ml tester. When it has settled on skin for an hour or two it reminds of other amber perfumes, even a bit of DG the One as others have suggested if you like. (But the One is way more complex and deep the first 30-90 minutes). 12-24 hours and a shower later an animalic amber smell is still 'burned' into your skin. Attaches really really hard to your skin, and ruins your next day scent (if you change).

I smelled this from the atomizer in one drug store that's selling them for 25$ for i think 75ml bottles. Boy does it smell sharp, I am a fragrance newbie, only had my nose smell around 25-30 fragrances and this one whilst not being something too original, it surprised me how pungent it smells! I smelled this sharp citrusy sort of ambroxan, and very strongly through the atomizer. came here looking for answers but im guessing im the one to talk about it. I might buy this one and then do a larger review on it. The only thing that smelled anything closely as strong as this was zadig voltaire this is him, totally different scent but from the atomizer the similar sort of spiciness . Definitely worth at least checking out!

I have four in this Lagerfeld line. Vetiver being my personal favourite, with Cedre having that barbershop blue Gillette aftershave balm profile, and Yuzu being a pleasant summer freshie. This has the trendy amber profile, little burst of citrus off the top, but dries to a sweet amber skin scent. Very much in line with DG The One, only if a date leans in and catches this scent, it will be a fleeting “umph, pleasant” rather than a deep second and third take as one digests the complexity that Dolce and Gabbana has to offer. This is clean, sweet, powdery, it’s ok. Ultimately for the price it is suitable, but is basic and for enthusiasts will be pretty bland.

Fills the vacant slot for winter-fall, after Cedre, Yuzu and the Vetiver Bois. Has a few phases that it goes thru: citrus, floral and then it dries down to a chocolatey, ambroxan strong perfume alla Armani's Code, Stronger with you or even Diamonds. Quality and performance wise this is par for the course in the Bois line, and like the others, it keeps it simple and does what is supposed to, with class, at an affordable price. I find this scent blind buy safe if you like the others in the Lagerfeld's Bois line, and great value for money if you like the aforementioned Armani scents and you're on a budget.

Wow. How much was this?! This is beautiful and rich. This punches way above it's weight at the price here. Ordering a 100ml as a back up to that 50ml which is already visibly down in a month. Absolutely recommend as a no-regret blind buy. Fragrance - 8/10 Projection - 7.5/10 Sillage - 8.5/10 Longevity - 7/10 Factoring in the AMAZING value in this I have to give it a solid 8/10 Get it if you are an amber fan. Nuff Said.

Not sure what fragrances it is similar to, but if you ever go into a Walmart or target and smell the Men’s Dial Bodywash specifically the hair and body one, it smells exactly like it! Definitely fall appropriate for casual wear. Would love to see a higher concentration or a flanker if this specific one! Grabbed a tester off Fragrancebuy for a great price !!

I got this as a birthday gift, from a girl, who absolutely loves this on me. I was not my first choice, but suddenly I fell in love. It is not that strong, it smells really good, so its great for everyday. Lasts 4 hrs on my skin, sillage is moderate. I give 7/10

Lovely warm autumn and winter fragrance. Very smooth and dries down to a super inviting amber. I would say the fragrance I've smelled that's most like this is Roberto Cavalli Uomo Deep Desire, but less fruity. It does not smell like D&G The One even a little.

Pleasant autumn / winter fragrance which can be picked up for cheap (grabbed a 50ml bottle for £15). I sort of get the similarity to Boss The Scent, but not so much D&G The One or Code Profumo. An easy reach, with the only downside maybe being longevity.

Def unisex, A bit like the black Mercedes scent.. a bit like something from diesel j tested recently.. one from the brave line, this is warm and a little fuzzy. Really nice, you know the warm part in spice bomb too, though this isn't thick like SB.

This smells very much like Hugo Boss The Scent (the OG). Almost identical. I smell no Armani Code Profumo or D&G The One, which are already two completely different scents by themselves. What's up with these "This perfume reminds me of" votes?

Perfectly serviceable 6.5/10 smelling fragrance but at the same time there's nothing special about it to my nose. Smells like your friend's harmless dad that's trying to be nice to you or something. Smells ok but lacks character.

I got my hands on a tester. According to this, the notes consist of Bigarade Orange & Bergamot (top), Clary Sage & Atlas Cedar (mid), and Amber & Tonka Bean (base). It's a great, solid fragrance at a great price.

Based on the many positive reviews I had high hopes for this one. All in all, it's not bad, just very average. In a blind test, this could easily pass for another Guess or Zara scent. Fine for its price, but the hype is bigger than what Bois d'Ambre can live up to. I'm also dead sure that the above list of notes is incomplete. There are definitely orange and probably Tonka bean in this one as well.

Got today this parfume bottle of 50ml. It reminds me a combo of profumo,boss the scent and the light version without tobacco of D&G the One EDT. So overall i find it nice smooth amber parfume. It is not super sweet as i expected. More to the light/fresh amber side. I like it overall

Nice and cheap fragrance. Excellent price, but it matches the overall presentation of the perfume. Poor durability and strength. For me, it can be used all year round, but in the summer the performance will be the most unsatisfactory. Overall rating 7/10.

I bought 50ml for 20 euros on discount, the smell is decent and the performance isn't bad The cap loosened after getting opened/closed 5 times and the bottle is decent. 7/10 but i wouldn't rebuy

Very weak scent, resembles to The One in the opening, that's it, cost me 11€ 50ml, i wouldn't buy again.

A lot of positive reviews , gave me some expectations about the quality. Unfortunately , imo something wrong happened here. Smells terrible , like parfum out of date. Maybe one day , i will try again.

Partner got me this as I love all things Karl. I absolutely hate it. It smells ok on others but I can’t stand the smell of it on me.

A gorgeous fragrance. Lagerfeld's Bois de Cedre was nothing special, but I was hoping this was closer in quality to their Bois de Yuzu, which is amazing. I was not disappointed. This is a light amber/tonka treat. I'm not picking up much citrus, but there is supposedly plum which seems to add a juicyness. Nothing at all cloying, light but persistent and a delicious gourmand. As others have mentioned, this interacts well with your body chemistry and goes through distinct phases, though the amber/tonka accord is always dominant. Great for the office, all seasons except winter, works for formal or casual. This is an amber standard, and with 100 ml for $30, everyone should have a bottle of this.

Update to my last review. According to that "other" fragrance website, the notes of this are: Top Notes - bergamot, bitter orange, plum Heart Notes - clary sage, geranium, cedarwood Base Notes - tonka bean, amber It is the plum and tonka that lend their clean but warm sweetness to this scent, while the heart notes give it a bit of zing and complexity.

Really looking forward to this one! Been on a bit of an “Amber kick” here lately so this is perfectly timed. The three I have from this line are absolute winners, especially when price is considered! Nice bottle, but I don't smell the amber. There is something fruity, loud and synthetic on top of it, that doesn't go away, ans it's too similar to Bois de Cyprès. I really wanted to like this. I'm not sure I do.

All three products from this line are amazing, especially bois de vetiver. I hope that they are able to deliver something similar, usually after a couple of winners dissapointment follows
