Saint (2017)

I don't get any strong floral notes from Saint; I do detect a bit of the jasmine and lily which is underscored by the kick of the sage, but on me the fragrance is all about the creamy milky nutty tone of almond blossom, the comfort & light sweetness of vanilla, and the gentle warmth of the caramel. There is a sense of freshness to the top of the perfume, which is fruit and musk - I get the peach, but can't quite identify the other fruits used. There is also a powdery undertone to the sweetness at the heart of Saint, which I'm guessing comes from a quiet mix of white florals. The undertone of milky/nutty almond blossom carries through to the base too, and the woods, musk and light hint of something green tones down the sweetness of the lingering vanilla and caramel, which adds more of a mature feel to the fragrance as it dries down. Longevity is good: I get a very respectable eight hours - it goes close to the skin after around 4 hours though, so it does seem quite 'quiet'. A fantastic fragrance for colder weather, as it is so warm and snuggly, although the soft fruits and gentle florals make Saint a all-occasions-all-seasons fragrance. I've not been able to wear Saint for years, and I've gotten a lot better at separating & identifying key notes in perfume, so it's a bit like owning it for the first time; Kat herself has said that the scent notes used are the same as the original Saint, but I notice the fruits more now, so the perfume has more juicy freshness than I remembered it having.

I sprayed this on today in store and was coming back for the full bottle within 20 minutes. It's a fruity floral but none of the cheap smelling Britney Spears type stuff. The moment I sprayed it on this is exactly what I was expecting as the first thing to scream in your face is peach. However, like with any perfume, it will take 5-10 minutes on your skin to develop and reach its full potential. Now, I am not a fan of yellow fruit fragrances at all and always preferred red and black fruit but this fragrance is magical. The mirabelle really makes it something else. The fruit is mellowed down with gentle balsamic notes which creates a truly beautiful scent. Kind of like a creamy sweet floral. To me, it smells like a beautiful summer's day full of fun and happiness. I have a feeling that Saint will be becoming my new everyday perfume. Also, the bottle doubles as a decoration in a gothic vintage bedroom ;) The only problem I have with it is the poor sillage and longevity - it's actually very mild for an EDP (I thought it was an EDT at first!).

I really like KVD's Saint perfume, bordering to loving it. I don't know what the older verision was like but I like this very well enough. It's more of light florals on me with a very light touch of sweetness added to it on the dry down. I really really like it but it doesn't really last long unless you overspray. Sometimes it comes across to me as smelling like how some glossy fashion magazines smell like when you flip through the pages. I'm not sure why that's so and I'm ok with it smelling that way though (oddly enough). Of crouse since the bottle is gorgeous plus since Kat is vegan (which is admirable), it's something that adds to the reason why I want this perfume. Sadly, I only had this bought from someone who went abroad, and I'm on a look out for a similar fragrance that's easily available where I am. I'm still on a search.

The initial spray is a peach punch to your senses, and the soft vanilla follows quickly to round it out and soften the fruitiness. The almond note shows up at dry down and softens it further. I am not usually a fan of the almond note but it is really lovely and subtle. If you shy away from overly sweet, cloying fruity fragrances (like me) but would like to try a more mellow, simple fruity vanilla fragrance, I recommend Saint, particularly if you can be patient for the dry down. I almost always stay away from fragrances that have lily of any kind in it (Bamboo, for example) but I can't detect lily at all in Saint. The bummer for me is the weaker sillage and and longevity. On me, I can barely detect it on my pulse points after 4 1/2 hours. I like this fragrance in spring and early summer.

I purchased this hoping it would be the original Saint in a new and improved bottle. Sadly, I was wrong. All this gave me was a slightly fruity-floral sweet blast at the beginning. Once it settled, I could smell a hint of that original Saint in there- the caramel-vanilla goodness. That was fleeting. On my skin the heart morphed into white floral land in a screechy way. The florals ended up giving me a headache. In the very later stages once the base notes hit (6-8 hours later), I could smell whiffs of that vanilla-caramel Saint but ever so slightly, as the heart of this perfume is very floral. I had to return this to Sephora the same day I received it in the mail. Oh, well.
