Sinner (2017)

I really like this one. I wasn't expecting much because I picked it up at TJ Maxx on a whim but I was pleasantly impressed. Haters can stay hating. For something so ~pedestrian~ to most frag nerds, I thought it was actually quite complex and nice. But I’m a basic when it comes to perfumes, so perhaps that should be the caveat here. There's a goth sexiness that reminds me a bit of Anna Sui, a bit Tom Ford Black Orchid. I loved Anna Sui Dreams in high school when CDs were a thing. That scent reminds me of Tool, my steel toe Doc Martens, Djarum browns, and Tori Amos. I’m normally not a vanilla fan, but the way the vanilla blends with the patchouli-plum combo is f*cking divine. It’s equal parts sweet, sexy and serious. This would be a fine office scent, which is apparently a bad thing to some people. No, this scent won’t challenge you in the way that Frederic Malle or Etat Libre can and no there aren’t any crazy animalics so, no, Sinner won’t be including notes of urine, feces or semen. It’s just a really nice, albeit safe oriental. If patchouli scares you, I wouldn’t be afraid of this. Sinner is patchouli for beginners. If you begin to feel you’re veering off path and might end up in a weird sex cult in Marin County, I’d just huff your wrist deeper and be guided back to safety with the vanilla, plum and orange blossom. The dry down does give way to a more gentler floral sweet powder but it has so much going on that it does leave you a little stumped. There is quite a bit if mystery in how this was formulated. The orange blossom seems to hide a bit under some other note, I don’t know what, but it’s still really gorgeous. This gives you decent silage for the first hour or so. It softens into a skin scent that sticks around for several hours, so it's not completely forgettable like others allege. If you spray it on your clothes you will get even longer longevity and great silage. Not sure what pH witchery is going on with the chemistry, but it works really really well on my skin. And yes, the bottle is beautiful and unique. For collectors alone, I think it’s worth the purchase. I got 1.0 oz at TJ Maxx for 12.99.

Attention Gourmand lovers... Kat Von D's SINNER is A to the May to the Zing, Baby!!! Think of any "Noir" fragrance. What comes to mind typically is evening, adult, maybe sensual and/or sexy. Noir fragrances tend to be like a fragrant dry (<-key word, dry) red wine giving off a bit cool and a bit smokey incense vibes. SINNER is all that and oozes dark berry juicy gothic sweetness. I have a thing for Metal Flower by Harmonist, and Noir Noir by Tom Ford, but as amazing as those are, they are not juicy sweet. They are delicious, but not sweet.. As a gourmand lover, THIS IS IT! Winner, winner, chicken dinner! (^◡^ )/ Its all of my fave Noirs, but with that yummy sweet wet juicy edible dark berry medley. This isn't another generic mass produced "celebrity fragrance" either. Or another stuck up niche dry red. No. KvD SINNER is wickedly sexy! Its a FUN, sexy, Vampiress flirting with a hot devil. She has to die for voluminous long hair, luscious lips, a bewitching smile, and hypnotic eyes with a sinfully voluptuous body; she has the mortals around her mesmerized. She laughs at the jealousy from the other Noirs. Because although they are beautiful in their own rights, they aren't free to be fun. SINNER is a total love for me. SAINT is a Must for any gourmandies. ( ◠‿◠)っ♡ SAINT + SINNER = Immort Love ... On that note, it is with a heavy heart that it appears she was merely a demi-vampiress, as she has been discontinued. Hence, was mortal after all. Just my luck, ugh! As with my love affair with: Alexander McQueen's Kingdom, and L’oreal Infallible Lipcolour Stars Collection Beyoncé Red, it too must come to an end. Or few and far in between clandestine visits.

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways! Sinner by Kat Von D has been my signature scent since 2010 and it is still my favorite perfume to this day. If there was ever a scent that felt absolutely like me, this is it! Sinner is one of the sexiest, most mysterious scents I've encountered. It has an air of dark, sophisticated class to it. The notes are beautifully blended. To me, it smells like autumn in a bottle! The harmony of the patchouli, plum and vanilla is what stands out the most, topped off with the most delicious spicy cinnamon. The cinnamon can almost be mistaken for chili or pink pepper, and I get a hint of something more than the notes mentioned, maybe sandalwood, licorice or leather. There is something else about it that is so mysterious and I can't quite place it, but that's what I love about it! It is such a cozy, warm spicy scent that changes your mood. It makes me want to put on that little black dress, pour a glass of wine and put on that moody playlist. My holy grail date night scent! My boyfriend adores it (he loves all of Kat Von D's fragrances on me) and he can always recognize it when I wear it. The sillage and longevity of the new formulation, compared to the original, is a TAD softer, but the difference is minuscule. Moderate for both formulations. For anyone who enjoys warm spicy scents, or scents that are not too floral or sweet but still feminine, this is a MUST try! I would almost call it a safe blind buy, I think it's that good!

I bought a (second-hand) 100ml bottle in last april, and today is the first day I’m wearing it since its a bit chilly outside, so I thought it would be the perfect time to put on this beautiful fragrance. Its literally a running joke among my friends that every time I really love something, it gets discontinued (favorite plate at a restaurant, favorite beauty product, perfume, favorite everything 😅). So lucky that I am, Sinner got discontinued a couple of months ago... I didn’t know & end up missing all the clearance sales at Sephora & KVD website. So I found this girl selling a big bottle for $$$ and I couldn’t pass. Now I own a discontinued 100ml and will use it VERY sparingly. The bottle is a-m-a-z-i-n-g (so far the most beautiful bottle that Ive own)! The scent is BOLD & dominant! The kind of perfume I wanna wear in fall, for an evening night out wearing all black, leather, big bold makeup, dark red lipstick & nails! This perfume screams « hey i’m here look at me » 🔥🍂 I’m not a big fan of patchouli or fruitchouli fragrances (usually), but this one is PERFECT. Its spicy, edgy & sweet! It’s mysterious! It’s a boss fragrance, it’s confidence in a bottle 💥 It’s dark & sexy!! And as I’m writing this review, I realize that a really like plum, since i’ve had Moonlight by Ariana and both share that sweet plummy note that I really like 🫐

I love Sinner. When they had the whole push to see if you were a Saint or Sinner last year when the fragrances were released, I immediately fell in love with Sinner. It’s rich body really speaks to me. The plum really stands out to me in Sinner along with the patchouli, vanilla, and wood notes. Sinner is a bomb with layer upon layer of explosion from the beginning. When you think it has over worn its welcome it changes up a bit and you get whole different composition on your skin. The creamy plum mixed with a touch of citrus is probably my favorite part of Sinner. It isn’t overly fruity, and I get no floral notes whatsoever, which is okay for me because I think if I did smell them I wouldn’t be as huge a fan of Sinner. It is bright and fresh with a boatload of mystery and sensuality thrown in for seriously good measure. I, personally, would wear this day or night and year round, but I can see how some would rather steer clear of this scent during the hot months or the daytime as it is a heavier fragrance. This wears really well on me. I get between 5 to 7 hours of wear time but need to reapply more often if I want the brighter notes to stay in play.
