Sinner

I used to dislike Kat Von D's Sinner. The patchouli used to make me believe that this fragrance smelled too heavy and chemically on me. While it does smell pretty heavy on me still, I feel that my nose has grown to appreciate the depth and warmth to Sinner. There's a lot to enjoy in this fragrance! At first sniff, this perfume starts off with the patchouli and cinnamon, which, as one would imagine, smells green, heavy, and spicy. After that initial burst of heaviness, the plum, the citrus, and the vanilla notes come in to create a creamy, smooth, and sweet quality to balance out the heavy spice. The white florals such as the jasmine and the orange flower start to appear more on my skin as the drydown happens, which adds a slight brightness and freshness to the perfume. As the hours go on, the musk and the woody notes come out a bit more, creating a very warm end to this perfume. Because of this, I would definitely wear Sinner during the Fall, Winter, and early Spring (basically the colder months of the year). I think it's too heavy to wear during the Summer, even at night (despite the citrus and white florals). To compare this to Saint (one of my all-time favorite perfumes), I would say that the vanilla and the plum in Sinner remind me of Saint a lot. I smell some Saint in Sinner. It's just that Sinner smells more green, woody, and spicy, whereas Saint smells sweet, creamy, with a bit of a sandalwood drydown. I'd say that Sinner smells like Saint + patchouli, spice, and wood. There's a lot happening in this perfume, and it confused me at first, which would explain why I didn't like it initially. For some reason, my nose has finally "understood" Sinner, and I find it to be one of the best celebrity perfumes ever made. Too bad Kat Von D's perfumes have been discontinued; I find all of them to be quite lovely!

I have the purse spray of this in the gorgeous "lighter" packaging. It was a gift that was hard to obtain as I'm in the UK but thankfully worth it as I do love the scent, it's just not quite how I expected from reading on here! I really don't smell much patchouli in it on me, which I find a little disappointing as I LOVE patchouli. On me I smell much more fruitiness and a hint of sweetness, maybe vanilla and a touch of baby powder. The patchouli is so subtle in it on me. I can smell it in the initial dry down, but then it's much more fruity and musky. The most disappointing thing for me is that is just does not last and you need to keep spraying and spraying it to keep smelling it! Someone else already mentioned it, but it's true. I wondered if it was my nose just getting used to it, but my husband couldn't smell it either. I like my scents to last and be a little more intense. I can't imagine getting a headache from it as someone else said! Perhaps the rollerball is much more intense? Maybe I should invest in that as well as misting myself with the purse spray! I suppose there's a reason they made one to carry one around with you..

It opens light with an innocent facade of Orange blossom and a bit of Mandarin then in a few minutes to becomes deep and sensual with succulent ripe plums start to steep into the senses like the demoness Lilith from ancient Semitic myth who seduces men to their deaths the plum has a seductive power then dries to an spicy edging of cinnamon and dries the middle with jasmine hides beneath the sin in a little crevasse The drydown is dark is musk and woods the other notes like Vetiver Patchouli and vanilla remains elusive to senses and unfortunaly this does'nt last it's fleeting like the moment of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden right before when eve picked the fruit of sin and i bet what Sin smelled like.

Kat Von d sinner is a very dark sexy and alluring fragrance. When I first spray this perfume the main note that I get is very sweet cinnamon not a harsh dusty cinnamon but like a sugar/cinnamon mix it's absolutely terrific and so unique I also get a misty patchouli haze in the middle of this perfume but don't fear it's not the harsh strong aroma like Angel no it's a sweet and kinda makes the fragrance dark. I believe that this perfume is very unique and the bottle I mean come on its a stunner and will look so killer on anyone's vanity I'm sad that they don't sell this at sephora anymore and it's kinda pricy and hard too find now so if u see it make sure u snatch it up like I did :) 7/10

I really didn't want to like this fragrance. Kat Von D is not a character who appeals to me. Also, I usually abhor floral notes but this is unlike any floral I've ever sampled before. This fragrance is intense and luscious. The opening to me is boozy dried roses but it dries down quickly to it's heart; something spicy, sultry, and dirty - but dirty in a good way! It's almost as if someone were trying to recreate the smell of a "cheap" perfume but used the best possible ingredients. The finale of creamy cinnamon musk lingers skin close for hours. I didn't expect this fragrance to be complex and interesting but I can't deny it's appeal.

I have found that some men do not like this scent, but the ones who do REALLY love it. On me, the orange blossom is prominent, with the vanilla behind it. Now, that the weather is warming up, I won't wear it as much, except at night. This is also one I would not recommend for a gourmet restaurant. The blend of spices may interfere with the food, especially fish/seafood, or white wines. However, for an Italian restaurant with lots of red sauce, garlic and Chianti or Merlot, go for it!

I love this perfume. It's the perfect blend of sweet and spicy for me. I can wear it days on end without getting bored. I don't smell the jasmine much until the way dry down and it lasts for about 8 hours on me with 2 sprays (one on clothes, one on wrists). Funny, the first time I sampled it I hated it, but I tried it a couple more times and it really grew on me. One of my current favorites!

I don't think that because it's called Sinner that it needs to be super strong...I love the cinnamon, patchouli and vanilla...that is what stands out to me in this one...I personally like it mixed with Saint...but I do not mind wearing it alone...maybe people hyped it up to much and that's why they were disappointed...just a thought.

This smells really great. I get just about every note listed on my skin plus alot of warm vanilla. It is a very nice gourmand in my opinion...not too strong, not too weak. Just right. I may have to go get a bottle of this!

Bought the rollerballs a couple years ago, I haven’t smelled anything like it again, finally found a full size bottle. This is Scorpio vibes.

It smells so sexy, woodsy and spicy. My boyfriend goes crazy whenever I wear this. It draws a lot of attention, trust me girls ;).

Love this scent... warm fiery scent with some sweetness but not to sweet. Very sexy. Wish I could find this again.

I have both scents (sinner and saint). I like Sinner more than Saint but I wish they would last longer on my skin.

What's the difference between this one and the black bottle Sinner?

I just recently got this off sephora's website having never of smelt it before so I was a tad bit nervous, as I got my box today I opened it up and spritzed it onto my neck and I was very very pleased. I love that sweet/spicy combo it smells more sweet than spicy to me tho, I can smell the cinnamon the most followed by the vanilla and plum. It really does make me feel bad but in a good way, a NAUGHTY WAY lol. It is very sexy to me and really evokes my senses, This so is for special occasions and nights out on the town or just in the bed room for those special moments! I find that with two sprays the sillage is great and I can really smell it! The bottle I got was very different from the original bottle design tho, I got the cool lighter style bottle with skulls, looks bad ass like kat von d herself! I do wish they would put a bigger size online and also bring saint back on the site too but I found a 1.7 bottle of saint on kat von d's website at wonderland la .com they do have it there and I hope they never stop selling saint because I adore that version as well as poetica, have never smelt adora so can't say for that one but the rest I love !

What a surprise to discover that Kat’s sin must be gluttony. This is a super-sweet, fruity and vanilla pastry scent from the get-go. Once I got over the shock of finding myself in the middle of a plum tart, I found myself enjoying the scent, which is at heart a conventional fruity gourmand floral-oriental, heavy on the vanilla. After about an hour there’s the tiniest hint of patchouli, but it’s not enough to make a dent in the sugary vanilla. At this point the scent becomes a fluffy puff of sweetness and light, a generic commercial drydown that eventually just dies away within 5-6 hours. As another reviewer pointed out, Sinner has some of the same notes as Rochas Femme, but they’ve been taken from the bedroom to the all-you-can-eat dessert buffet and it’s a happy lick-the-fillo-pastry-crumbs-off-your-fingers fest rather than a serious seduction scene. Sinner is the kind of thing that’s easy and pleasant to wear when you're in the mood for something light and sweet. Many thanks to the generous forum member who sent me the sample!

I've been in a love hate relationship with Sinner, since I've got it a few months ago. I think it really depends on my mood if I like it. I do know that if there wasn't cinnamion, and woody notes in Sinner, I wouldn't like it. The reason I think I'm in a love hate relationship with this perfume is, because of the patchouli. It is mixed well though, that's what stumps me everytime. I do like Sinner more than Saint, and just looking at the notes with out smelling them, I would chose Saint over Sinner anyday, but that hasn't been the case. If you can find this for a decent price then it's worth it, if you really like warm spicy scents. This one is a bit stronger than what I usually go for, but then again, I think that's why I like it, then hate it, because it's different for me. Also I think it's because I really like woody notes in perfume, it really gets me. I think that's why most of the time I like it.

Like a previous reviewer mentioned, this scent reminds me of Gucci by Gucci. It doesn't least nearly as long as Gucci. I liked it for the first few weeks but after a while it got to be too much, and I am now realizing that I need my vanilla fragrances to be separated from white flowers. I like the purity of a strictly gourmand vanilla that is uninterrupted by white flowers. It is much more comforting and feels closer to my heart. If you like vanilla and patchouli together, then you'll like this. I mainly smell vanilla, patchouli and jasmine. Those that like a whole lot of notes thrown into the mix, this is the "vanilla" scent for you.

This is a nice quality for value fragrance. It is not as well blended as I like (the florals and spice stick out a little sharp). Still, quite a nice fragrance. Silage is close to the body (within arms length). Longevity, out of a roller ball, on moisturized (normally dry) skin, about 2-3 or so hours. Not a lot of transition to it, but I'd rather it do what it does well than try too hard. After a while the sharpness of the spices starts to soften and you get a sweet, warm floral vanilla. A little "spicy" at first for office wear, so apply 20 minutes before you arrive at work. A good day or evening fall fragrance.
