Meow

The "synthetic" in this is so incredibly pronounced that it should have it's own note listed, but I love it because it is pure '90s scented My Little Pony plastic' synthetic. It's the girls toys that were fruit scented and is utterly adorable. (I should note that I am someone who enjoys smells such as pencil shavings, freshly printed book pages, and pleather here, so *this particular* synthetic note is not a bad thing to me! Though I should add I typically do not enjoy synthetic notes, especially if they make the perfume smell cheap which imo, and contrary to some, this doesn't). It is not a headachey synthetic to me. I never grew up with Meow, but this just reminds me so much of my childhood it's such a fun little nostalgia trip. It's comforting, soothing, and I would totally spray this before bed to help me wind down and settle. It's a very "soft and fluffy" fragrance. Absolutely as cozy as a kitten, so the choice of bottle is very apt! Ari or Sweet Tooth can feel too loud, but Meow leans much softer, and also more fruity than gourmand to my nose. I don't detect any similarity between Kayali Marshmallow or Yara at all; Sweet As Candy? Maybe a little, though Meow has more personality and complexity imo. That top pear note really comes through strong at first but remains present throughout the whole duration of wear, settling into a very mellow powderiness. I don't get "cupcake" at all. More like some healthy fruit pieces in a cute little bowl with a little sugar sprinkled on top than any kind of rich dessert. It's dainty. Lasting power is not good. The cat head top does not securely fit my bottle and keeps falling off! I have resorted to just not even bothering with the cat head top because it is pointless but that makes me sad. :( I can see this being great for any season, but probably best suited for Winter, as Meow has a cool freshness to it that really compliments the cold.

*ini review saya tulis di kaskus tahun 2013* Setelah sukses dengan parfum pertamanya “Purrs”, Katy Perry tampaknya tidak membutuhkan waktu lama untuk meluncurkan parfum keduanya yang bernama “Meow”. Nama meow sendiri terinspirasi dari hewan favorit Katy Perry yaitu kucing, bahkan botolnya pun berbentuk kucing berwarna pink-ungu pucat dengan mata terbuat dari kristal, hmmm bener-bener bentuk yang unik *baca: aneh* untuk sebuah botol parfum ~ehehe. Back to the scent, wangi yang saya tangkap saat pertama kali menyemprot parfum ini adalah wangi segar buah yang berasal dari pear & tangerine di-mix dengan manis dari vanilla. Sayangnya tidak ada perubahan notes dalam parfum ini atau biasa disebut linear, hanya wangi pear & tangerine saja yang berangsur-angsur memudar diganti dengan vanilla yang semakin intense seiring berjalannya waktu. White floral yang dijanjikan Meow pun sama sekali tidak tercium batang hidungnya (?) padahal Jasmine & Gardenia terkenal sangat menusuk dalam sebuah parfum, tapi entah dimana mereka bersembunyi sampai tidak tercium jejaknya. -.- Nothing special? Yes. Boring? No! walau parfum ini tergolong linear tapi jangan dulu kecewa dengan wangi parfum ini karena perpaduan dari tiga notes tersebut benar-benar pas dan wanginya sama sekali tidak membosankan, saya pribadi lumayan suka dengan wangi vanilla yang lembut di parfum ini. Sweet candy like, cuddly, and fresh mungkin itu kata-kata yang tepat untuk parfum ini. Sangat cocok buat cewek ABG untuk dipake ke sekolah, hang out, atau buat ngedate, karena tipe parfum ini ringan dan segar jadi Meow sangat aman untuk dipake di segala kondisi. Update: ini parfum ngingetin sama Mont Blanc - Signature, gak 100% sama tapi punya vibe yang sama. Meow lebih strong di fruity vanilla, sedangkan Signature lebih soft & ada wangi bunga nya.

Seeing as I'm on my third bottle of this, perhaps I ought to review it! This was my first non-Demeter purchase five years ago, and it's still one of my favorites! It's a soft, subtle, floral vanilla. Quite sweet, but not an "edible" fragrance like most of my gourmands. I love how it can stand alone, or layer nicely with my other favorites. It is not strong, but as a migraineur, I appreciate that... this has never triggered a migraine! I've also found that it lasts for DAYS on a sweater! On me, there is only the faintest hint of fruit, and only in the first 15 minutes or so... but the drydown is warm and subtle. Apparently, I like "young" fragrances, but I am nearly 50 and prefer to wear what makes me happy, and leave labels to the back of the box! I have tried several of the "smells like" fragrances as well... at least on my skin, here is how they compare: * Delicious Cotton Candy: Smells similar, but with more fruity notes and something sharp - possibly the licorice. Nice, but not quite as soft and fluffy. * Yara: I can see the similarity, but if Meow were a soda Yara would be the sugar-free counterpart. I smell distinct notes in Meow, versus general concepts in Yara... and Yara is buried in a powerful powder cloud, where Meow smells fresh and sweet. * Sweet Tooth: another cavity-inducingly sweet fragrance, but it's lacking the floral prettiness of Meow. This is what I imagine a "foodie" version of Meow would smell like. Loved this one, but couldn't wear it due to skin sensitivities. * Sweet Like Candy: this could be Meow's cousin. It's a similar fragrance, but where Meow is subtle and soft, this one was powerful and less demure. It's nice, but Meow is nicer.

So I'm *finally* getting around to trying Meow after being head-over-heels in love with Purr for 6 years, and I see by some of the recent reviews here that Meow is being discontinued(?!)- why, oh why did I wait so long? This is a delicious confection of a fragrance, very gourmand-smelling indeed, despite not having many actual gourmand notes listed. The vanilla is definitely what I get the most strongly, but rather than smelling like straight vanilla, it takes on kind of a cotton-candy/marshmallow scent for me, sometimes with a hint of something like praline candy. Very sugary, yes- but not what I would call cloyingly so; it somehow still manages to feel light and fresh, not overwhelming. It's a soft and fluffy kind of sweetness. I also get a little musk, a little pear, and some lovely white flowers (especially honeysuckle!) that are most prominent in the opening before the dessert vibe takes over. Despite it smelling mainly like candy, I don't agree with reviews saying that Meow is only appropriate for very young girls; anyone with a sweet tooth can appreciate this. Equally sugary perfumes like Prada Candy smell similar, but don't get stereotyped as being for teens & tweens because they're packaged differently and cost much more. Meow is like being wrapped in a pink cloud- an instant mood lifter! I still prefer Purr for an everyday/signature scent, but this is definitely a new love, and I'm so glad I finally decided to try it before it was too late- I've already got my backup bottle! UPDATE: 10/3/21 Make that *two* backup bottles!

A PEAR & CUSTARD tart! A burst of sweet & citrus-y white florals opens this beauty and transitions to a creamy custard and pear heart with aquatic and caramel touches. Becomes more gourmand as it dries down onto a sandalwood-vanilla base. Very sweet but the fresh, aquatic touches keep it from becoming cloying. Contrast to Irresistible EDP Givenchy: These are different scents, but there are some similarities with gourmand pear and this is the most similar scent to Irresistible that I've smelt. Meow has a touch more caramel and is more pear & custard tart with caramel drizzle, while Irresistible is more whipped pear. Contrast to Purr Katy Perry: This sister scent has some similarities with the fruity florals over creamy gardenia. Purr has a combination of fruity florals that reads more violet over creamy gardenia, while Meow reads more pear over creamy gardenia. Overall: Average performance and requires a few weeks/months (6 months is ideal) in dark storage after first sprays get 2-3 hours of projection and then gradual contraction for a total of about 6-7 hours total. Before that you get a strong opening burst that projects well for up to an hour and then becomes a skin scent for another 2 hours. Easy to wear and affordable, this is a perfect introductory gourmand for those who don't mind storing it, and smoothly blended enough to satisfy more refined noses. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

So having owned this for a couple of days, it's quickly becoming one of my favourites...so much so I had to delete my previous review. 😅 THIS SMELLS SO IRRESISTIBLE!!! 💖 Seriously that sweet vanilla...that develops into the juicy pear🍐 and tangerine🥰. I can distinguish the notes easily on my skin. (This is currently my favourite pear scent) Also this fragrance doesn't smell synthetic at all 👍🏼. The fruits smell quite natural. HOWEVER...This smells so incredibly similar to 'Viva La Juicy Noir'...Which is NOT shocking as they share 75% of the same notes: Vanilla, Mandarin/Tangerine, Sandalwood, Amber, Jasmine, Honeysuckle, Gardenia I have both and the drydown is practically the same on my skin too. As well as the performance, however Katy Perry's Meow lasts around 6-7 hours before completely fading away on my skin. This is a indeed a crowd-pleasing ultra-feminine scent, very inoffensive but also delicious and suitable for ALL environments whether it's office, school, other jobs or dates. Verdict: Safe blind-buy. However if you own any of the Viva la Juicys you really don't need this. Otherwise FULLY RECOMMENDED. An IMMEDIATE COMPLIMENT-COLLECTOR. A definite winner from House Givaudan.

Meow is the perfect light, sweet fragrance to me. I honestly don't see how anyone (who likes sweet fragrances) could dislike this. It's got such a perfect mix of floral, citrus, fruity, and vanilla, it's really like the perfect girly sweet feminine fragrance that doesn't boast too much either. Its not overpowering at all or offensive. This could definitely be work friendly if you wear it lightly as a skin scent. I like to wear it at home and before bed as it's cozy and I can literally feel it giving me sweet dreams! I think this could be a very safe blind buy, a great gift (the price is unbeatable too, and it's always on sale) for girls or teens and definitely even someone older so long as they love cats, sweet and cute things and are quite feminine. The only two downsides are: A) it doesn't last long on skin, but does on clothing B) The lid of the 100ml bottle falls off far too easily and it's so annoying. I would repurchase the 30ml for this reason as I assume it would not fall off as easy, but the 100ml is the only size available these days.

Like all perfumes, Meow is "for" anyone who wants to wear it, and certainly not just for girls in their teens. I'm a woman in my early 50s and I love it, because I love sweet gourmand vanilla-based fragrances, and of course I'm not alone; we all know how popular those are! I think Prada Candy smells more cloyingly sweet than this does, actually, and that fragrance isn't constantly dismissed as being immature or simplistic. The difference is the marketing, not the scent profile. I think Meow does a good job of balancing the super-sweet gourmand notes with the white florals- I can pick out the honeysuckle and lily of the valley nicely, and a little pear and musk round it out and work with the flowers to keep this from being merely pure candy. I might have been drawn to it for the cute name and bottle, but I've bought it again and again because I'd love this fragrance regardless of its packaging. I find it works like aromatherapy to lift my mood when I wear it. If that's not a reason to love it, what is?

For me, this perfume conjures the most odd and wonderful combination of scent memories. It starts with a blast of walking into the Body Shop in the 90s, which I used to do ALL THE TIME as a teen, when their old vanilla perfume oil was my favorite thing ever. And then it develops into Barbie heads...Odd. I know, but I loved the way my Barbies smelled...it is possible that they had some interactions with some perfumes at some point.., :P And I did have one Barbie that came with a perfume, lipstick, and nail polish, so perhaps that is what this is reminding me of, but i can't be sure. In any case, it is a happy smell. Ultimately, Meow (I can't even type the name with a straight face really :P) is a lovely warm, vanilla-based scent with some vague fruitiness and some soft musk. It is not a perfume that will leave me sitting around picking out notes or being surprised by its development, BUT it is an instant time machine to happy days and for that I adore, love, and crave it!

It's interesting that one of the cons for the perfume was that it smells like "Juicy Couture", specifically "Viva la Juicy" My first thought when I lavished in my first generous application was "This reminds me of something" and I couldn't quite pick it out as Viva la Juicy is my 36 year old Daughter's signature fragrance. I don't mind. I've been wanting Meow for a long time and I think it's a little more youthful and playful and the dry down brings out the notes in a slightly different way, lingering long on the Vanilla and Tangerine, the pear just sings such a luscious combination of notes in it's own right. So I for one really like youthfulness and I've always love Viva la Juicy so it's pleasing to 58 year old nose lol so if you run out of Viva la Juicy and can't afford another bottle this is a good pick to bridge the gap. I don't want to take anything away from "Viva la Juicy" as it's such a unique fragrance, slightly more high-end than Meow, but all in all happy 😊

Warm delicious but still an airy fragrance, weak to moderate longevity and sillage. The juicy sweet pear means it's great for warmer months but the soft rich vanilla means it's also suitable for the cooler seasons. I actually had it when it first came out years ago and thought it was nice but a bit basic so I sold it. Recently tried it again and it's really grown on me! Definitely in the love category now which goes to show our noses can change over time. Sad to hear it might be discontinued so I've bought a few back up bottles which is a first for me ^^ It's quite different to Purr which I also have - that is a nice fragrance but to me is more in the 'clean fruity shampoo' type group and these days I'm more into a richer vanilla fragrance. Looking at the reviews most people seem to really enjoy this scent but as always try to test before you buy :)

I finally managed to remember to buy a bottle of this cute perfume after over a decade. The opening of this smells really strong and fruity, so I’m assuming it’s the pear note, but on me it smells kinda like cherries. My body chemistry must be weird, but that’s what I pick up and it’s super sweet. After about two to three hours it starts to dry down and it smells very VERY similar to the original 2005 formulation of Britney Spears’ Fantasy (I would know as I own 4 bottles of it with the Swarovski bottle neck). Meow is pretty long lasting on me, clicked in at about 6 hours. I really do love this one and the pink cat bottle is just so cute! As it’s been discontinued, I may buy another one since it’s a lot easier to find than a Swarovski bottle of Fantasy that’s still smelling fresh.

I cannot believe I love this silly little cat perfume so much. I found this at one of those extremely overpriced "discount" perfume stores in the mall, took a picture of it because I knew that there was no way $65 was actually a discount, and ordered it online for $19. I have worn this every day for three months and it has quickly become my favorite perfume. I layer it with everything, I wear it on its own, and sniff it on myself and in the bottle all the time. It is a perfectly sweet, fruity, milky, floral, slightly powdery blend of heaven in a sparkly kitty bottle. It is not overpowering yet lasts all day long. Sometimes I get a whiff of something delicious during the day and think, ooh, what is that smell? And it's me!! Best $19 I have ever spent.

I had this in college and had to give it away because of the nonexistent longevity and sillage. I was literally carrying it with me to college and spraying between classes and no one could smell it. Also, I owned this perfume and sweet like candy at the same time, I alternated between them. To me they smelled similar but not the same. Yeah they both gave the same vibe overall but meow was creamier and you could smell the pear whereas SLC is more of a powdery berry type of scent. Meow was the first to be given away because of the issue mentioned above. SLC had slightly better longevity but still too little for me and it was getting frustrating so I gave it away a year later. I kinda miss these scents though. Truly sweet and girly and almost edible.

This was a blind buy. I bought it for the bottle. What a surprise, it is one of my favorites. Unfortunately some will love the bottle and others will pass it by without even trying.the scent. I liked this so much I tried Katy Perry Meow but this is much better. I am an adult not a kid. Anyone can wear it. This is by far one of the least expensive scent in my collection but I like this one better than most of the expensive scents. It is a blend of gourmand and sweet flowers, even after drydown. It doesn't change into something totally different once I wear it for a while. I would say this is a happy scent and not a serious CEO in a boardroom scent. It is the kind of scent that makes me smile. I would purchase it again.

The opening reminds me of dippin dot ice cream with some yummy pear. After a few minutes, it’s a cloud of pure marshmallow fluff and vanilla custard. Not a heavy, cloying vanilla but a light, soft one. I think I still smell a hint of that pear. You need to be a gourmand lover to enjoy this, imo! It’s super affordable but doesn’t have that screechy synthetic smell that some perfumes have, such as Pink Sugar (esp the opening). To me, it may not smell the most expensive but it sure hell does not smell cheap, either! It’s for sure a compliment getter - I’ve had several people (men and women) ask what I am wearing!

One of my all-time favourite perfumes to stare intensely at whenever I saw it as a young child. Now that I have it, it's a nostalgic, sugar-bomb throwback to my Katycat era. All jokes aside, this is my go-to for family events, parties and casual get-togethers. It's at once floral, sweet and peppy, exuding every bit of youthful force that Katy wishes she still had. Like the candy-coloured music video of California Girls (but with a G rating), it smells like the abstract concept of whimsy. Great pick for the younger perfume connoisseur in your life, maybe less so for any moody, basement-dwelling 26 year-olds.

Such a beautiful scent. Very milky, soft, and pretty. This in my opinion is top 5 vanilla scents of all time. Sillage on me is so-so but wow that SMELL!So many others have tried to copy it and fail. This is a beautiful, milky vanilla with a touch of pear and zesty tangerine. I can see Katy smelling like this. This scent was ahead of its time and with Miss Katy Perry being the face of the D&G fragrance line, I was scared this was going to be discontinued but you cand still buy it everywhere! EDIT: Saw a Tik Tok from a fan that was brought on stage at her Lifetimes Tour and he swears she smelled like MEOW!

This is the best scent I've ever smelled, my favorite perfume, and my new signature scent. would recommend, but I want to gate-keep. The bottle is adorable, and the only problem I really have is I wish they sold smaller sizes so I could carry it around in my bag! The scent radiates around you at a perfect distance, and the smell lasts me about 6 hours of a day. I personally smell the floral notes most with a hint of vanilla, which honestly has always been my DREAM SCENT. I can really smell the notes of lily of the valley on my skin. this is really all around my favorite perfume EVER!

I found it to be very perfumey when I first sprayed it (I mean it is a perfume duh) but it was not as soft as I was expecting. Then I let it set for a few minutes and it became a very soft, sweet vanilla scent. Super comforting and cozy scent! I smell more vanilla/cotton candy than I smell fruit. It kinda gives a me shampoo vibe in the beginning? I think that actually might be the fruitiness of the perfume giving it that slight freshness. Super enjoyable and safe fragrance. Might become my signature fragrance due to how soft and cozy it is!!
