Capri in a Bottle Lemon Sugar | 14 Eau de Parfum

Sugary Sweet, vanilla, citrusy, zesty, bright, fruity, powdery, musky, fluffy, feminine, flirty, playful, charming, whimsical, cheerful, joyful, uplifting, vibrant, radiant, tempting, addictive, inviting, cozy, comforting This opens with a very sweet, bright, and zesty lemon. It has a soft tartness to it, and fortunately it doesn’t come across as anything “cleaning product” like. The heart blooms with fresh and clean freesia and sweet raspberry. The dry down is rather surprising, it comes across as a sweet, fluffy, and powdery vanilla marshmallow with a soft touch of musk. The opening is like sweet sugary lemon candy. The dry down is really surprising because it’s quite similar to that of Yum Boujee Marshmallow (my favorite fragrance). YBM does share all of these same notes, although it does have additional notes too. This feels very feminine to me. It feels best suited for the spring and summer, and would make a nice vacation scent if you’re looking for something besides beachy coconut scent. It’s also good for something uplifting if you’re looking for a mood boost. This feels suitable for the majority of occasions including work and/or school. I’m a huge fan of Kayali fragrances! I know that sometimes they’re considered “youthful”, but I’m 37, and I absolutely adore most of them! They really just seem to always fit my tastes! I currently have 18 different fragrances of theirs in my collection! My top 5 faves are Yum Boujee Marshmallow, Vanilla 28, The Wedding Silk Santal, Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar, and Yum Pistachio Gelato. I also really love Maui in a Bottle and Maldives in a Bottle during the summer! I was totally expecting lemon cake from this, but it’s much more like lemon meringue, in the best way possible. What I mean by that is, it doesn’t smell like a bakery and I am actually relieved because cake/cookie/graham cracker notes end up smelling like burnt sugar on me in the worst way possible. This strikes a nice balance between being sugary sweet like candy, fresh citrus, and robust like a dessert. But again, when I say dessert, I do not mean cake by any means — no graham cracker or cookie notes either. The icing on top of the cake, much closer. The meringue inside of the graham cracker crust, also much closer. It’s pretty much a combination of the two, with a very nice hint of freesia in the background. This is definitely similar to Devotion, but I believe the freesia and raspberry are what make it more appealing to me. This is also more complex and exotic. It’s fresher and has less of that syrupy quality going on. I would say that Devotion leans more gourmand due to the addition of panacotta and lack of freesia. Capri has an underlying soapy floral quality, and it’s subtle, but it is just enough to keep it from being TOO gourmand for my personal taste. The lemon in this one is also a little more photorealistic and fresh. Not even in the realm of kitchen cleaner, thank goodness — but it’s got a zestier quality to it. Think vanilla ice cream with lemon zest on top in the beginning, then it blends together and morphs into a lemon sorbet/mousse/meringue type scent. This has better lasting power than the other three in the vacation line-up and it’s more unique too. I’m normally not a gourmand kinda gal, but Kayali does a good job with this type of scent. I also like Boujee Marshmallow and Pistachio Gelato, but I like this more than PG, while not quite as much as BM. It’s fresher but it definitely shares some of the same undertones. Really hoping this isn’t a limited edition because it’s gorgeous.

Sugary Sweet, bright, citrusy, fresh, happy, fun, uplifting, fruity, juicy, clean, cheerful, playful, flirty, creamy, warm, powdery, musky, fluffy, yummy On me this opens with a burst of sweet sugar, bright lemon, fresh raspberry that has just a slightly tart scent, and clean freesia. Once it has dried down the sugary lemon and raspberry gains warm, creamy vanilla, and powdery musk. The overall scent even starts to gain a fluffiness after about 2 hours. I’m surprised that the first 1-2 hours of this reminds me so much of D&G Devotion, but it’s less rich and more light and musky. It even reminds me a little bit of JHAG Not A Perfume because of the musk, especially if it were mixed with Devotion. Actually that’s probably an excellent description of it... Devotion and Not A Perfume combined creating a less rich and more musky and fluffy lemon vanilla scent. Oddly enough though, after about 2 hours it starts gaining a fluffy and musky fruity vanilla scent that slightly reminds me of Yum Boujee Marshmallow. It definitely feels feminine, and suited best for spring and summer. I think it’s probably a pretty safe blind buy, especially if you enjoy lemon fragrances. I get great performance with Capri in a Bottle. The longevity is very good, it lasts throughout the whole day on me. The projection is nice, it radiates out about a couple of feet from me. I also wanted to add that I reviewed these back when I first got the set in June. This one in particular got so much better over time! I never got the sweet and fluffy berry lemon vanilla dry down before, and am still shocked by how much that part reminds me of Yum Boujee Marshmallow (one of my favorite fragrances!).

Capri in a Bottle is a beautiful sugared lemon dream. It captures the scent of lemon perfectly without ever venturing into the territory of cleaning products. Instead, it's a bright, fluffy and sweet citrus that reminds me of the icing on a lemon drizzle cake. The fragrance is fresh, airy, and uplifting, never feeling heavy or cloying. Despite its light and delicate character, I found that the performance is pretty impressive. I was still able to notice it after several hours of wear. This is one I reach for often, especially when I want something sweet, cheerful and easy to wear. It's also a consistent compliment-getter. I think this fragrance is ideal for anyone who loves fresh, sweet, gourmand-inspired citrus fragrances.

Out of all four scents in my vacation sampler, I was least excited to try this one, but it’s my favorite by far. It’s so, so, so good. Bright lemon, fluffy vanilla, and to my nose there’s some marshmallow, too... Capri in a Bottle Lemon Sugar is the Skipper/ little sister to Dolce and Gabbana’s Devotion Barbie/ big sister. Not a bakery lemon at all... more a glass of beautifully whipped lemon mousse with sugar around the rim. I don’t find the projection or sillage great, but that’s okay for me. I know most people have said the longevity is terrible but on my skin it lasts a solid six to eight hours without any fancy prep or layering. Love love love. I am putting a big bottle in my cart immediately.
