Datura Blanche

Bought a lot of samples from Keiko Mecheri’s perfume house after blind buying Clair Obsur then purchasing bottles of White Petals , Isles Lontaines , The Beautiful ones , Paradise Lost and Fleurs d’Osmanthus . I now own the most perfumes from this one perfume house . Keiko Mecheri perfume house is new to me here in Australia , but I’m so impressed with their fragrances being of quality ingredients and so well blended ( never synthetic smelling ) . They never fail in their workmanship and I am now hooked into trying more . With Datura Blanche, I was sure I wouldn’t like this fragrance as I’m not a fan of vanilla scents especially when it’s listed as the predominant note but my interest was perked based on the reviews and the trust that KM house would deliver an amazing fragrance despite it not being my preferred floral fragrance genre . Saying that , I had no idea what a datura flower smells like , though it mentions here that the scent is a fantasy one . Therefore , I can only guess what scent it represents in this fragrance . I do get some floral in the background which I assume is the datura/ heliotrope / Tuberose mix but this fragrance is SO heavy on the tobacco/ smoky scent ( Tonka bean? Myrrh?) . The vanilla and almond ( found I love this combination with the florals) is also there in the background but comes forth more predominantly in the dry down. I believe spicy notes should be on the top of the main accord pyramid based on its reaction to my skin . This is normally not what I would even try but I’m so glad I did . I just kept smelling my skin, being so drawn to this scent , and not understanding why, as I abhor spicy fragrances . It’s practically hypnotic and addictive! As one reviewer Onaona mentioned , it is a linear scent , it stays the same from start to the finish and I mostly agree. Although , the myrrh/ Tonka bean spicy mix does fade in the dry down and this is my favourite part of the fragrance’s journey . I would love , love this perfume if the spices were reduced and the florals popped out more . Like all Keiko Mecheri’s perfumes, it is so well blended with quality ingredients. It’s not translucent and synthetic smelling like a lot of high end perfumes I have tried . This to me , is not really a day scent , this is more night scent as it projects well and I find this so exotic and sexy . Longevity is outstanding , i can smell it the very next morning . Update : used up my sample and just couldn’t stop thinking about this unique exotic, floral vanilla fragrance so I bought a bottle . Just putting it out there , I can see some similarities with Dakura Noir but DN is more subdued with its predominant vanilla /almond base whereas Dakura Blanche actually has more depth with the Dakura , Tonka bean, myrrh and Tuberose . I do see similarities with Hypnotic Poison but only after the liquorice opening notes have dissipated. Its the dry down that they share and It’s definitely not a dupe/ flanker. This stands out more , nothing I have ever smelt before . My partner actually preferred Datura Blanche and disked SL Dakura Noir - he said it reminded him of the vanilla bathroom cleaner .

Datura Blanche is one of my favorite perfumes ever, also the most expensive I own so far. I dont regret one cent of this purchase. It‘s just perfect for me. I love gourmands and I love white florals, and Datura Blanche balances these two categories in such a lovely manner. Unfortunately I have never smelled datura in real life, so the flower I get from this is tuberose and general white floral goodness. Hypnotic tuberose with smooth vanilla and bittersweet almonds. Indeed it makes me think of an intoxicating, but poisonous flower, just like the description of datura. This fragrance makes me feel seductive and ladylike at the same time - while it is sweet, it doesn‘t become cloying on my skin and it‘s definitely not a candy kind of scent. There is always a fresh and cool undertone to it, even though it warms up while wearing. The opening is cleaner, more bitter and floral, the drydown cozier and sweeter. I can wear this year round and to any ocassion and always feel good, but I don‘t want to overuse by wearing it daily. Obviously I think Datura Blanche is shamefully underrated, but maybe it just can‘t be perfect for everyone. I do understand that a vanilla/white floral combination is not the most groundbreaking thing, but it‘s really done very well. I guess I‘m lucky that it doesn‘t unfold to a boring, overly sweet vanilla on my skin. The comparison to Hypnotic Poison is understandable, but they‘re by no means twins. Datura Blanche is in the same family, but lighter, not as loud and sweet and rubbery, more floral and less common. Heady, mysterious and elegant.

Keiko Mecheri's Datura Blanche is hypnotic, to be sure. I mean, I certainly get lost in it and don't mind one little bit. Yes, there is a similarity here to Dior's Hypnotic Poison (which I like), but similar does not mean the same. For me, the differences which lie between similar and same are what distinguish Datura Blanche, making it special for me in a way the far better known Dior has never managed. Those differences? Datura Blanche is linear. If you love it, you'll love it from top to bottom. It's softer, and more subtle throughout. I find it smoother and wonderfully well-rounded. You won't find any play-dough here and the powder feel is far less pervasive. Datura, admittedly not a familiar flower to me is present. I simply identified it as a pretty floral in the mix :) With fewer floral notes, it still manages to be more floral than HP. Longevity? Strangely long-lasting considering the gentle feel of it, so feel free to spray lightly. Projection? Around friends, not around the room, thank goodness. Noteworthy Notes? Vanilla, a pretty flower (aka datura), almond-ish, powder, and heliotrope. No tuberose to my nose. It's sweet (floral and vanilla sweet, not from fruit) and most appropriate for cooler fall-like weather. I've been reaching for Datura Blanche quite a bit lately, honestly if feels signature-worthy, and for me, that's the biggest (and most beautiful) difference of all.

I love it! This is a beautiful scent. It's difficult for me to describe, for some reason, but I will try: very soft vanilla (but not too sweet), touch of powder, and a little floral (heliotrope). It's mysterious, feminine and intoxicating to me. Not your typical, in-your-face, vanilla scent at at all. I have smelled many vanilla scents over the years and I can't compare this to any of them- it's unique. I will say that it doesn't really smell like night-blooming Angel's Trumpet that I expected to smell. I have them growing in my yard and they have an indescribable scent- sort of marshmallow and soft lemon-lime. They are intoxicating (literally)! But it does capture their essence- the feeling you get when you smell them. The only con for this perfume- it should last longer considering how expensive it is.

This is sooooo yummy! I felt like a marshmallow, but that is not to imply that Datura Blanche is overly foody smelling. I have never smelled real datura so I can't comment on how close this gets, but there was plenty of vanilla-almond combination to make me snuggly on a winter afternoon, with heliotrope keeping things classy and expensive smelling. It is very light, definitely a cozy fragrance to wear when you hope to be very close to someone. Not sure if I would buy a full bottle...I will have to order another sample when the weather gets warmer and see how it fares in a different season. It's so soft and pretty, far more unique than other vanilla scents.

An oriental gourmand - Sweet almond vanilla and a striking floral datura in the background. An absolutely intoxicating scent to me. You may initially think this scent is for the shy lady who turns away as she blushes. But as the fragrance developers you realize the naughty smile comes through and the shy lady isn't as shy as you originally thought. There is definitely something extra in this perfume that sets it apart from other sweet vanilla fragrances, and I believe it to be the beautiful Datura floral. I will cherish the sample I have and have added this to my want list already. Full bottle worthy in my opinion for its uniqueness and great longevity.

Datura Blanche is a mix of SL Datura Noire, which is very floral and heady with a dominant myrrh note, and Hypnotic Poison. The tuberose, almond, myrrh, and heliotrope stand out the most on my skin. It hovers and creates an intense scent bubble. I don't know how anyone can say this doesn't smell anything like Hypnotic Poison because it absolutely does. It has the same feel. A tuberose wrapped inside a doll’s head-vanilla doughiness with nuances of bitter almond and balsam woods. That being said, don't buy this as a replacement for HP. Buy this if you want an exotic, plush tuberose. If you have smelled or own Hypnotic Poison, you will be reminded.

This is a bold, honeyed, aromatic white floral that doesn't joke around. It hits your skin and clings to it for dear life for hours and hours. The sillage is not suffocating but it definitely makes its presence known to those close to you. Not one for shrinking violets! I personally love it! It has the right amount of sweetness and floralcy (maybe leaning more on sweet) and performs great. Great for when you're in a festive mood!

I fully agree with lapharme's excellent review below! I wish I could describe it like you but i'll just quote: this scent depth, complexity, and maturity without making it stuffy or taking away from the ephemeral and almost luminescent lightness and airiness of this perfume. A masterpiece of what quality should be like in fragrances. You can choose to wear it or not, choose a suitable occasion, but definitely admire it.

It is a really beautiful fragrance. Pleasantly sweet, calming, very special, not every day fragrance, more for special occasions. It smells like a fairy tale. The datura and the almond smells very milky together. This is a very tasteful fragrance. I love it.

This is much smoother than Hypnotic Poison. It is also slightly gourmand and almost edible. Absolute perfection!

Datura Blanche smells good and I really want to like it, but there's something that keeps it from moving beyond "just good". It's sweet but not too sweet; not at all indolic. The problem is mainly that it's just too thick. Like heliotrope pudding. I enjoy powder notes and I can get behind good vanilla; the key is for them to remain just sheer enough not to suffocate. Datura Blanche is like wearing sunscreen by the pool that you thought you really liked the smell of, but once you have it slathered all over you and are laying out with it cooking in the heat, begin to feel a little queasy. Maybe I'd prefer an Eau Fraiche version of this scent? It's nice in concept, I just feel ready to wash it off after a few hours.

This scent was a surprise for me. I love almonds so was drawn to it, but it has become a bit of a unicorn. I get the almonds, yes, but the whole is much greater than the sum of its parts. There is some type of magical bittersweet nostalgia in this scent. I smell it and get a strange aching in my heart. It reminds me of so many beautiful things in my past, particularly a special man who I have been drawn to time and time again. While this is not a scent that raised its hand and started jumping yelling "me! me! pick me!" it is a gorgeous mind-bender sitting in the back row with a knowing smile, holding all the answers. A must have for me.

I get the comparisons to Hypnotic Poison. The main difference lies in the bitter twist lent to this fragrance by myrrh. Keiko Mecheri has taken this fragrance in a more floral direction whereas HP is a pretty true Oriental vanilla. Still an evening scent, and perhaps even sexy, but much more sober and serious. The opening to my nose errs a bit harsh. The myrrh is super intense. Bitter, almost soapy. In the drydown this scent becomes heliotrope dominant though the myrrh is still present.

Not what I expected at all! Smells like cherries and almonds that signify lots of heliotrope. It smells like delicate white florals and powdery rounded soft woods and almond cold face cream. It is smells sweet and a bit too powdery for me. These were my initial thoughts. Jan2021: I tested this again. Still on the fence, but I'd love this in soap or bath oil form because the fragrance smells intimate like scented skin! That would be amazing. I like it but nfbw for me rn. -

Hmmm- I'm trying to decide if I like this or not... One thing's for sure-I agree with njdeb- this fragrance is s w e e t! It is so strongly vanilla that, from beginning to end, all I really smell is vanilla sugar! It is like an amped-up Coty Vanilla Fields- Potency and longevity are pretty awesome- this "angel's trumpet" of a fragrance should be "heard" for miles and miles...

This is an perfect winter scent, especially before Christmas. I sense lots of vanilla, almond, tonka bean and datura of course. It's one of the interesting warm scents, it's not overly sweet. There's spicy notes and very mild sweetness, it's a great composition.

Very different. Top is sweet and a little citrusy. Doesn't smell like anything else I have encountered. After an hour I get the myrrh, which I am not so thrilled about. I would say this is more floriental than floral.

KM Datura Blanche This does NOT smell like Hypnotic Poison. Not the edt, nor edp, nor eau sensuelle, nor eau secrete, nor any other version of HP. Nope, not even a little, unless HP is the ONLY perfume of its kind that you’ve ever smelled. It DOES however smell a LOT like Tesori di Oriente Fiori di Dragone (sp?), just a much more expensive, natural, and nicer version. I’ve always liked the scent profile of FdD and no, never considered it anything of even a remote dupe for HP, but the actual scent is just so cheap and chemical and nasty and I can’t get past that. I always wanted a quality, GOOD version of it. This is EXACTLY that! It literally smells like if you made an exact recreation of FdD with all natural high-quality ingredients. Very nice! It also smells a little like Profumum Roma Conafetto but this is much fruitier and more floral and has some spice whereas Conafetto is light too but it’s pure gourmand, not fruity or floral or spicy at all. I don’t LOVE it so far but I definitely LIKE it. Happy to have it in my collection. Also, I’ve head this actually does contain real datura. Of course, even if this is the case datura is NOT the most prominent note here, but I do have another perfume that definitely uses real datura/trumpet flower (Illuminum Trumpet Flower and it is DIVINE) and based on that I would say that the datura note in here does in fact smell realistic, it’s just not very strong and other notes, like vanilla and almond, are stronger. But it definitely seems to be there. It’s a floral note that is distinct though if I had to compare to another flower the closest would be a fleshy, lush, heady, slightly spicy, indolic lily, and it’s DEFINITELY NOT there in HP + flankers, Conafetto, FdD, or any of the other supposed HP dupes. It’s not even there in SL Datura Noir, and Datura Noir officially as per SL contains no real datura. So yeah, if you’ve had the good fortune of smelling a real datura/trumpet flower or real datura/trumpet flower containing perfume, then you can recognize that this absolutely does seem to contain real datura. If you’re just looking for a recognizable datura note, this should satisfy you. However, if you are looking for something approaching a datura soliflore, this will leave you disappointed as this is nothing of the sort. Performance is excellent and the bottle is gorgeous (I have the original dark blackened-purple 2.5oz bottle with the gold-accented cap), excellent quality sprayer on it too. This is the rare kind of perfume that is truly suitable for all seasons, day or night. It’s much more fruity-floral* than HP, and that’s what keeps it suitable for warmer weather. But the cozy gourmand notes give it enough depth to work well in colder weather as well. And this dichotomy is also what makes it equally suitable for day and night. The only situation I’d avoid it for is formal occasions, unless you prefer to be very understated. To me this is a cozy perfume, suitable perhaps for a date to a cozy art gallery or museum (and *definitely* suitable for cozying up and chilling out at home, alone or otherwise), but I wouldn’t wear it to a party or fancy dinner. This is harder to find (the vintage bottle at least) than other KM perfumes so snap it up if you can. PS I wish fragrantica would use the picture of the older deep purple bottle for the icon. It’s SO much prettier than the boring basic clear rectangular bottle... at least give us the option to choose which version we have for our icon! *PPS when I say “fruity-floral”, do NOT conflict that with the sweet, young, bubblegum fruity-florals that make up most modern mainstream fruity-florals. This is fruity-floral in the more old-school vintage pre-2000s sense, though this perfume does not in any way at all feel dated. First of all, the emphasis here is on the floral, not the fruity. Second, the “fruity” here doesn’t actually come from fruits, but rather it comes from the fruity nuances/facets of the *floral* notes here. Thirdly, it is expertly balanced with light spice notes, myrrh, and what smells like tobacco. Not sure if it contains unlisted tobacco notes or if it’s just other notes creating the illusion but I definitely smell a nice fuzzy golden tobacco note much like the one in Amouage Sunshine, and it goes a LONG way in giving this scent depth, complexity, and maturity without making it stuffy or taking away from the ephemeral and almost luminescent lightness and airiness of this perfume.

The opening is beautiful and I wish it stayed longer. I will update my review as I experience more of this sample, but after a few moments into the heart of the fragrance, I detect a certain amount of muskiness here. Part of it is the héliotrope, likely, but it goes far beyond the level the level of muskiness I have come to expect from héliotrope notes. It reminds me a bit of Missing Person by Phlur, oddly enough, though their notes are supposedly completely different. But how much is truly these notes and how much is marketing? This, I will say, is much stronger than Missing Person, which is the sale of a diluted fragrance as a full one, more or less. I am still somewhat undecided on my rating. But if you like soft, slightly musky and powdered floral vanillas, this one is for you.

I was expecting to love this but it’s so weak to me I can barely smell it. I hope the tuberose Isles Lointaines from this brand it’s much better because I blind bought that one.

The plastic cap it's just cheap, too bad because the whole design is awesome, and for its price it shouldn't have be in plastic!

I only discovered this scent because I was on the hunt for a photorealistic Datura fragrance. I grow several varieties of Datura (along with many other flowers) and Datura Wrightii is my singular favorite smell in the world. That being said, this is absolutely as close as it gets - BUT not until the dry down. Vanilla and bitter almond are forward and heavy on the initial spray. They do mellow down and blend in nicely with the white floral. There's only a touch of sweetness and something slightly tropical that separates it from being 100% Datura. I've heard it's pretty much impossible to extract any significant fragrance oil from the real thing. Whether that is due to it's severe toxicity or the short lived quality of the flowers/fragrance, I'm not sure. But if you're here looking for a Datura wrightii/inoxia type scent, this will not disappoint (Metel and Stramonium smells are entirely different IMO). This has become my signature fragrance. A beautiful, classy, white floral. Not powdery or old-lady like. Not indolic or animalic, but not too sweet or juvenile either. Literally, just right. Moderate sillage and longevity. Blind buy for me, based on several reviews here and my specific search.

Keiko Mecheri DATURA BLANCHE is a truly scrumptious and voluptuous oriental perfume. I am reminded very much of Dior HYPNOTIC POISON, except that the Playdoh and rootbeer aspects of that perfume are not so marked here. I'm afraid that I still do not know what datura smells like--I certainly could not pick it out of a line-up of flowers! Chez Serge, datura was overwhelmed by tuberose; chez Keiko, I'm smelling mainly almonds and heliotrope. This creation is going to be loved by anyone who loves HYPNOTIC POISON, but also some of those who find that one to be a bit too much. DATURA BLANCHE seems more refined and less pushy to me. But it is definitely a cold weather perfume, as this is a sweet, strong oriental leaning even a bit toward the gourmand side. I'd say that overall DATURA BLANCHE is a nice compromise between the sweetness of the loukhoum trio and some of the other floriental perfumes of this house. I would love to have a bottle of this creation for wintertime. I'm sure that it would waft beautifully as it heats up on the skin under a sweater. The concentration is definitely eau de parfum, not eau de toilette: this a potent, enticing elixir!

Initially a sweet, light and airy floral. I've never smelled a datura flower, but the floral smell I get here reminds me of a combination of ylang ylang and frangipani. I think it's the heliotrpoe that adds the powderiness I also find in this perfume. After a few minutes a nice creamy vanilla aroma emerges to mix with the florals. Unfortunately, I find the final drydown to be pretty much just vanilla ice cream and powdered sugar. The florals really fade into the background and this becomes a not very original powdery gourmand scent that I know I have smelled somewhere before (just can't remember what it was). Another Keiko Mecheri that I just tried, Loukhoum Eau Poudre, is also a powdery and foody perfume, but IMO is more interesting and distinctive than Datura Blanche.

This is pretty. Warm and lightly sweet - but not sugar sweet - sweet like a heavy blossom in its prime. Very feminine, a little breezy...and can a fragrance be subtle and dizzying at the same time? There is something "hot climate like" in this scent - like sitting under a blooming tree, sipping a heady cocktail and watching the velvety evening sun playing on your skin. A little powdery, Datura Blanche is relaxed, yet quite seductive. Unfortunately the drydown - I agree with njdeb - is sort of generic vanilla-ish scent. Still - a likable fragrance!

Have you ever looked at a cake and thought, 'that looks much too sweet, i'd hate it', yet after taking a bite, you thought 'Wow'! So what do you think about heliotrope and almonds? This has been done so many times before, but here we have a zingy, almost tantric, floral. I don't know why, but I picture a warm, fur coat with nothing worn underneath. This has two completely different vibes going on, and it works. The dry down, as you read below, does get saccharine, so use a light hand when applying. It's the halo you're after; it's mmm... yummy.

Datura Blanche is twin sisters of Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle..at least on me..:) I can detect just faint differences between them,but both deep, sweet, hypnotic and very alluring fragrance. Soft, almost gourmand floral(heliotrope and tuberose) with velvety vanilla-tonka base.In the base no edges just smoothly blended notes(tonka, almond, vanilla and tuberose)- they are become one with me. Mesmerizing, moderately refined fragrance, just wrap you to an invisible sensual cloud.

The sample has dried down on my skin. I smell salt. It smells like i would think i would smell after wearing sunscreen all day but its mostly all washed off in the ocean, the water has just air dried and left little salt crystals on my skin. Literally what this smells like to me, and I'm sad. I want datura, vanilla, heliotrope, almond, tuberose, myrrhe they are all notes i consider to be favorites if i see them in a fragrance its a pretty easy no brainer that i would like it.

I am loving the combination of white florals with the almond, vanilla and tonka bean notes. It's warm and sweet, but not too sweet. The fragrance projects well without overpowering, I dabbed a bit on my wrist and the scent enveloped me like a warm hug. I smell the tuberose more on the drydown. Great for fall and winter, but I'm testing it out on a warm June day and it's not "too much." Overall, this is a lovely scent.

I really enjoy the soft vanilla/almond powdery drydown. It's like a delicate lace vanilla veil. It's the opening that I just can't get past. It's very sharp, too green and bitter, I get punched in the nose when I spray it, it's almost suffocating for me. It's a surprising shame because the dry down is simply divine and lightly scrumptious. The opening eventually fades away, but for me it's too much.

Beautiful aquatic florals or strange summer florals that only bloom at night, bloom in secret or only bloom for eyes that prowl through a hot dark night. This feels like a night time almond. Sexy, aquatic, sweet and alluring.

I love Serge Luten's Datura Noir and was hoping for its complement in this. It is nice, sweet, feminine, but doesn't really have the oomph I was looking for.

I like it, but it smells like expensive body cream and not much more. I get no spices or honey, just vanilla and heliotrope. Very mild.

I don't like this. It's floral, but I would like it to be sweeter and fresher. To me this is suffocating.
