Les Nuits D'Izu

I like this one more and more the longer I wear it. At first I wasn't sure, because it seemed to me more of a green floral than the citrus aromatic I was expecting. I get mostly yuzu and rose here with a touch of aromatic woods. The woodiness is of green character, like the inside of a broken twig. Overall, this is a very pretty, light, somewhat watery and transparent floral with a nice bite to it. I find the sillage and longevity to be medium - similar to an eau de toilette (ie. better than a cologne, but less than an eau de parfum)

This is another one of the KM citrus series, so I knew more or less what to expect from it. I was also not surprised when the Luckyscent spray vial dribbled instead of spraying. Izu starts off with a sharp citrusy scent that’s mostly lemon peel with a slightly green and woody undercurrent. According to the notes, the citrus component is supposed to be yuzu, but if it’s the real thing it doesn’t come through as the full, smooth, rich, fruity scent of natural yuzu oil. Maybe there’s some Yuzuzest, or similar aroma chemical in there, but it isn’t the yuzu I know and love. It’s nice, though. Eventually the scent dries down into a nice, powdery floral musk. To me, Les Nuits d’Izu is a strong and long-lasting green woody citrus scent, with plenty of sillage. The drydown persists on clothing for a day or more.

Thank you Keiko and Fragrantica for an opportunity to try this fragrance! I don't know why it's advertised as unisex: on me, it was a gentle feminine fragrance, floral and light, but exquisite and beautiful at the same time; it's more of a sweet floral on me (rose and jasmine rounds it up), no sharp citruses here, absolutely delightful)) the only drawback was that it didn't last long at all... the longevity is more similar to cologne than eau de parfum, which is probably the whole point of this line.

Soapy green citrus that smells better than it sounds. Yuzu and Hinoki are most prominent and give the aromatic cologne vibe in Les Nuits D'Izu. I'm not sure what is responsible for the soapy effect but overall it feels relaxing, not quite what I would have in mind for the Rivieria- French or Japanese, but it does bring to mind indulgent spa treatments in a luxurious setting. This projects really well but longevity is about average. Not quite my cup of tea but maybe yours? :)

While I don’t often reach for fragrances that are considered light or fresh, Keiko Mecheri’s Les Nuit d’Izu is a scent that does these things exactly the way I like them. Les Nuit d’Izu is a poem, not a haiku, but perhaps a bittersweet tanka consisting of transparent green woods and sharp soapy florals, tempered by soft mosses and the musky powder of blooming citrus. It awoke in me a deep sense of nostalgia and it was driving me nuts because I couldn’t put my finger on what it reminded me of. I think Les Nuits d’Izu is a more posh version of Cotton Blossom, my favorite Bath and Body Works scent that’s gone through so many iterations that I’m not even sure what it’s called anymore. Cotton Blossom was a dreamy treat of white musk, soapy florals, and a hint of linens drying in the breeze high on a seaside cliff. It marked a time in my life filled with brief moments of tremulous hope tucked inside dark pockets of blinding despair. Les Nuits d’Izu shares many of these aspects, note-wise anyway, but with an intimate sense of midlife perspective from someone looking backward rather than forward. I feel like this perfume I am wearing today is the evolution and maturity of the body spray that I wore back then. I love it, but I don’t know if I can justify a full bottle when I’ve already got something that smells so similar. With maturity comes restraint and an obligation to fiscal responsibility after all. HAHA, that was a joke. You know I am going to buy a bottle.

LES NUITS D'IZU is by far the most orthodox of the citrus cologne limited edition Keiko Mecheri launches. This really smells like a citrus cologne and in fact reminds me quite a lot of Bond no 9 EAU DE NEW YORK and Banana Republic W in turns. It must be the oakmoss mingling with the greens and the flowers, along with the citrus which are binding LES NUITS D'IZU to EAU DE NEW YORK in my mind's nose. The main difference is that this Keiko Mecheri creation has an ever-so-slightly soapy quality in the drydown. In fact, the drydown reminds me a bit of NEW YORK FLING... This is a nice composition, no doubt about it, but it's not really new, and I already own both EAU DE NEW YORK and W, which do an excellent job of covering this now contested territory! (-;

There are few perfumes that suit my current citrus/wood obsession more than this one. It's sharp without veering into the masculine, but settles into yellow flowers and cedar. And yet, I will never, ever buy a full bottle. This is not a eau de parfum. It is barely an eau fraiche. It is patently, shamefully not worth the money they ask for it at the current formulation. It's insulting. If they wise up and reformulated, I'd throw money in their general.direction with no issues.

I love this and must have a bottle. It is fresh, and initially slightly sharp with some jasmine, settling into a citrusy, musky rose. The first impression was that this reminded me a bit of Totally White by Parle Moi de Parfums, but although they both open with freshness, this one has a slight musky presence which I think helps to maintain its good silage. I think this would be lovely on a warm summer evening, but with the woods and musk, could be worn on fall days as well.

Fresh, citrusy somewhat green scent, a little sharp, but over all nice. I can't decide when I would wear this; I typically like citrus for the office or during the summer, but the sharpness of this scent also makes it seem more of an evening scent. Although I generally like this this fragrance, I just realized how closely it smells like Windex, but with a citrus twist.

If this scent is to represent a journey to Izu, the Riviera of Japan, I will be placing Izu on the places to visit in my "bucket list". This fragrance is like a beautiful Ikebana arrangement. It is a soft floral & musk warm down, leaving you in touch with your feminine persona.
