Loukhoum Parfum du Soir

I've had (decants of) the original Loukhoum and Loukhoum Eau Poudré in my winter rotation for years, and I think they're among the best gourmands out there, so I've wanted to test this third version for ages as well. Now that I finally got my hands on a little decant, I have to say I'm a little sad to find that it might be the best one: I have no idea why this was discontinued. Or, I do: they're all so similar that it does make sense not to keep all of them around forever, and this one probably sold least, but still... if I was going to save for a full bottle, which I'm definitely going to do once all my decants are gone, I think it would have been this one if it were still available. As for how it smells, I'm just going to start by repeating my description from my review of the other ones, because it holds for this one as well: "These are very sweet scents, and they all smell like real Turkish Delight turned into perfume: not too realistic in a sticky or overpowering way, like you’ve rubbed candy all over yourself, but not synthetic at all, either. The scents are quite heavy and strong, very long-lived. You can wrap yourself in them like in a blanket if you want - like all the best winter gourmands they can really be used for comfort. The question is whether you’d want to stroll around in public wrapped in a candy-scented blanket, being an adult and all, but I think it’s just sophisticated enough to work as long as you don’t overspray. The differences between the first two are quite subtle as far as I can see. Wearing them on consecutive days I could hardly tell them apart, but now that I’m wearing them side by side I do see some differences. The original Loukhoum is a bit more syrupy, a bit sweeter. It’s also very well blended: I can’t pick out any individual notes, it just smells like a more sophisticated perfume version of Turkish Delight. The Eau Poudrée is what the name implies: a bit dryer and more powdery, which makes it just that bit calmer and less sweet. I can also pick out the various notes better in this one: I smell sugar, almonds, rose and vanilla working together beautifully but not quite forming one homogenous smell. I also think the Eau Poudrée could work in the warmer seasons as well as the colder ones, because it’s just that little bit less powerful." The Parfum du Soir version of Loukhoum is true to its name, too: the way it fits into the family is that it's the darker, deeper, smoother, more sophisticated sister. More powdery than the original, more well-blended than Eau Poudrée; super sweet and just as delicious as any of the others, but just a little less exuberant, a little less candy-like. It must be the oud and patchouli playing their part, although I can't pick them out individually at all. I love it, and I'm going to cherish my decant for as long as I can. Who knows, maybe an opportunity to find a full bottle will come my way some day?

I just got a sample of this from lucky scent and so far I quite enjoy it! Funny enough I thought I had ordered the edp but I guess I didn’t look closely enough. Regardless im happy with this scent—finally a fragrance that is sensual and sweet without screechy disgusting citrus or overly-sugared flowers! This is definitely on the sweet and heavy side, like a very gourmand and somehow sexy baby powder scent, but it isn’t cloying, which is rare for me since I get cloyed extremely easily. Not sure if I would buy the full size because I think my every day perfume would ideally be a little lighter with slightly more powdered flowers and slightly less gourmand. But I’ll be trying the actual edp next! And who knows, my opinion might change as I continue to smell this perfume. I’ll update later. But this was a great thing to receive after trying so many vanilla rose scents that were riddled with disgusting sugar and bitter citrus. EDIT: ive really fallen in love with this scent!! I love the slightly spicy powder opening and how it dries down to a beautiful creamy vanilla with a hint of floral but nothing too sugared or cloying. my sample isnt a spray so i do wonder if spraying might change its "story" but my sample has aged and gotten darker and i still enjoy it a lot. it might be my favorite of the three loukhoums, though my samples of those are very new so the scents may evolve.

It was re released a couple months ago. I bought 2 sample sizes from Luckyscent so I could put in a small spray vial because I think spraying gives you a better idea of the scent. I've been testing this one against my love, Jour de Fete, bc I'm down to my last 5ml sample of that one and wanted something with a similar profile to replace it with. Having said all that, lol, this is lovely. Not as powdery as Loukhoum and Poudée, but the profile is the same. Soft, nutty, almondy vanilla, rosey amber (benzoin). Not sure why this was ever discontinued, and I never tried it before that, but it's one step up in depth from the other two. I do think Poudrée is less sweet, a phenomenal fragrance in its own right. The oud gives it depth, but I don't get anything barnyard or animalic from it. The only problem is the bottle size. This is a strong perfume, two sprays was enough to last all day. All day! The only size it comes in is 100 ml. I won't use that much in a 100 years. If you like the concept of a signature scent, this might work for you. I think I'm going to buy a few more samples and see if I use it up, if I do I'll put it on my spreadsheet to buy. Definite love for me, but this type always is, so ymmv.

wow, I just got a sample of this and I love it! I was already a fan of the other two loukhoums, but I love the addition of oud to this, and I normally don't even like oud, but it works so well here. It adds depth and elegance to an otherwise completely fun, carefree, girly scent. That's exactly what I love in a perfume. I'm going through the darkest time in my life right now, my husband-my soul mate and only true love, forever, recently passed very unexpectedly. He was so young. But he would want me to stay strong and remain happy, and I can at least be happy when I think about him. Crushed, but also happy, because I got to experience his love in the first place. This perfume instantly made me happy too, it's something he would've loved very much. I ordered it before he passed and since he has, I've only been wearing his absolute favorite, Amouage Blossom Love, but this has a very similar vibe. It's so sweet and sensual, and reminds me of his smile and kisses. I didn't think I'd want any other perfume for a while, but I do love this. It doesn't feel new to me, it feels familiar, because I know he would've been crazy over this one. Anything that makes him feel even closer is a love in my book♡

A review by popular demand! I have spent a lot of time with Keiko Mecheri's masterpiece, Du Soir. I have tried all of the Loukhoum sisters and find them all charming and beautiful, but du Soir is the bombshell. From the moment it touched my skin, it seduced me. There was no escaping her beauty. Gentle wafts of powdered almonds slowly drew me in and soon I was ensnared in rivers of sticky honey, smoothed with roses. Just when you start to feel like it may be too much, she sinks in her claws of oud and slightly bitter patchouli. The combination is intoxicating. You no longer wish to leave and would be happy in her arms forever. This perfume does something to male brains that is quite astonishing. My husband needs only a whiff to go slightly mad. My attorney boss forbade me from wearing this to court saying it was too distracting. He is normally not affected by fragrance at all and we have only a professional relationship. But he said there was something about du Soir that made him unable to concentrate. So if you are looking for something to drive those around you a little out of their minds, give this a spritz and watch otherwise sane folks driven crazy with desire.

I have tried all 3 loukhoums from this line and this is very much like the drydown of the original from the start, but when it dries down its a whole different beast, a smoky tonka bean almondy gourmand fragrance. This is DELICIOUS and perfect for winter. I like the 2 loukhoums (Powder/Parfum) better than the original, which still has its charms. Lucky for me I detect little if any patchouli which can be a deal breaker for me. It is a very honeyed, deep, super gourmand of rose jam, almonds, tonka beans and vanilla on my skin. I adore it especially for the cold winter months. Be sure to try before you buy, these can go bad on the skin of a person with chemistry that doesn't suit them very easily as they are intense, long lasting and SWEET fragrances. Perfect for rainy days and is sweet without the fragrance being at all fleeting, lasting on cloth for days and at least 12h on skin. 10/10! update after a couple years with this one it has become my favorite of the 3 and it is totally ADDICTIVE! I wear it more frequently than anything else at the moment. i just keep loving this more.

Wow, this is totally wow and fabulous and amazingly perfect! Heaven! Divine almonds and rose - magnificent perfume! I am in seventh heaven wearing this. It's my signature sent. I am passionately in love with this perfume. It's the best best best. The most beautiful perfume. Creamy and rich, gentle and potent. Stunning. Totally stunning and supreme. This is the perfume that I get the most compliments with, from everyone - men, women, children......all the time. And it's my husband's favourite too. We both absolutely relish it on me. It is so me. It is so divine. It lasts incredibly well too, 18 hours easily, and I can still smell it the next day. Oh I love it so! And I adore the bottle too, it's fantastically gorgeous. LOVE LOVE LOVE the gorgeous Loukhoum Parfum du Soir!!!

Oh, how beautiful! I seem to have welcomed a "sweet era" into my fragrance life at the moment and I love it! This is just as lovely as Loukhoum Eau Poudree, but even more seductive, elegant, charismatic and also chic as they say here in the introduction above. Their little description is very fitting by the way. This scent is intense, little powdery, snugly, teasing, and sexy indeed. It is sweet, but not screeching or sticky, it is more like mellow, ripe kind of sweet...and also lightly woody/resinous and smooth. Surprisingly there is a very deep tone in this potion, deep, resonating and comforting like the velvety tones played by a contrabass or the humming of bumble bees. In spite of that it is ultra feminine! Love it!

My dear sweetheat TL sent me a gift of samples, and even before opening the package, there was one scent that stood out and called to me. With one whiff I pinned down which one it was... Loukhoum Parfum du Soir. Amazing, beautiful, and oh so sensual. It has what it takes to aim cupid's arrow straight through your heart. It did mine. The quality is amazing... right up their with the Guerlain Elixir's, or TF private blends. The rich gourmand vibes also do not disappoint. A close cousin of Coquin or Tonka Imperiale. Creamy, decadent, sophisticated, warm, sweet, and sexy! I want this. Bad. I'm just afraid to look up the price and find it out of my reach.

I love powdery scents, and in wearing this lately I get strong pleasant soapy smells and incense. Whatever it is, I love it. I enjoy the original Loukhoum and Sweet Oriental Dream and while I understand these scents are not for everyone (my best friend asked me not to wear Sweet Oriental Dream around her)but if "sweet" and "powder" are what you enjoy, this is a complex variation of the Loukhoum scents.I know Oud and Patchouli are listed for this (I dislike both)but neither are dominant, although both most likely give this the incense I smell.This was one of those "I must have a FB" from first sniff.

[2008; nose: Yann Vasnier]. Aldehydic/Gourmand/Balsamic Type. The Parfum de Soir might be thought of as all the ideas of the original LOUKHOUM, but concentrated, distilled, "tightened" and refined. The result is very classic, chic, and, I would say, retro, with its powdery aldehydes and delicate sueded leather touch. Less "sucrée" than the original LOUKHOUM. A delicate head note of silver/green black pepper adds a "brûlent" sharpness to the gourmandise and almost tobacco-like tonka bean. Simply a gorgeous scent. Quite femme, I'd say, but I will get a lot of mileage out of it.

I adore this. It's smooth, luxurious and blended beautifully. I myself can appreciate this and enjoy the complexity of the notes without abandon...yet sometimes the frankness and honesty of children cannot be ignored. My daughter asked me why it smelled like baby powder. Albeit the most beautiful, sumptuous , and comforting baby powder. True perfumista's can enjoy this respectfully...and I know body chemistry can be diffrent...but you might want to be prepared to hear you smell like baby powder.

When I first tested this scent, I don't think I understood it. There was a note (or effect) that was unlisted that was dominating the scent. It perplexed my nose! Now, testing it again, I realize I am getting a powdery honey scent on my skin. As it dries down, it melds with my chemistry and becomes warm and comforting, less powdery and a little more "nougaty". I don't detect any of the individual notes that are listed. Only soft honey!

This scent to me is '50s starlets applying copious amounts of makeup and powder in front of their light-bulb-and-rose-strewn mirrors. I love it as an exercise in sweet, powdery, girly abundance. I used to wear it to bed but now that the juice is almost gone, I periodically sniff the bottle for a shot of sweet, powdery, almondy rose and oud.

DELICIOSO! Yum yum yum yum yum! Creamy vanilla, Jordan almonds, and a touch of oud. It's so marvelous I am tempted to lick my hand. The entire Loukhoum series is really masterful, but Ms. Mecheri has completely outdone herself with this gourmand little number. Wear this perfume and every man you encounter will be begging you for mercy....

Love this so much! I want to be engulfed with this perfume! Loukhoum sweet, deep very sensous, for the loukhoum lovers. I get rose, candied almond, woods & vanilla. But there is more to it, it's not so simple, it's magic blend. You can buy direct from Keiko Mecheri online & luckyscent.

While the original Loukhoum has a plastic scent that unravels as time goes by, this version stays true to the deep mellifluous almond note I find desirable. Although this is more expensive than the original, I highly recommend this version to all who view quality as a priority.

This one is fabulous. Powdery sweet with a nice vanilla, tonka dry down. Sillage is very low. I would say this is a skin scent. But longevity is amazing and that's saying a lot with my crazy dry skin. I put it on before work this morning and I still smell it at 730pm very well.

Oh god. This is so impossibly good. Eyes-roll-back-into-skull good. Narcotic. Jammy rose, bitey vanilla, bittersweet almond, deep tonka, smooth benzoin and some patch for good measure. Perfectly blended, longevity divine. What a delight.

Now that's a PERFUME! For me it smells AMAZING and the more it develops, the more it becomes DELICIOUS. Eau de Parfum has a VERY long standing power. The bottle with the bluming flower is really beautiful and precious too. 9/10.

I’m going to review this as a flanker of Loukhoum OG and not as a standalone fragrance, because I’m already familiar with Loukhoum. I think it would be a different experience to first smell this without knowing the OG, but it’s not my experience. Anyway, that said, this is meant as the evening version obvs. And to my taste, and as the person below me noted, that wasn’t really necessary. The OG is dense and honeyed and has massive sillage and presence, plenty enough for any date or evening activities. In this version, from what I can tell, the honey facet has been lowered to make room for oud and patchouli. The oud shows up in the top notes but is quickly replaced by a sedate patchouli. It’s nice, but honestly it’s actually a milder version of the OG, with just a few dark notes added. It doesn’t have that distinct heavy honeyed satin richness although it is beautiful in its own way. But If you like the OG like I do this one seems kind of unnecessary. I see the utility of the poudree version, it is just a milder politer version of the OG which would work well in the workplace or anywhere the dense sillage of the original might be too much. But this night version feels unnecessary if you have and love the OG. That said, it’s a beautiful fragrance, it couldn’t help but be that. It lasts 8 hours on skin and casts a decent scent bubble of a few feet.

Another beautiful loukhoum creation, Keiko Mecheri LOUKHOUM PARFUM DU SOIR pulls out all the stops, throwing the ultra-trendy oud into the already heady mix. All three of these KM loukhoum creations smell very similar in the drydown, showing most of their variation in the opening minutes. In the case of PARFUM DU SOIR, the oud appears up front, adding a dark and deep almost myrrh-like quality but then giving way eventually to the divinity-like alkaloid amalgam common to the other members of this trio. After experiencing these utterly unique perfumes, it seems clear to me that anyone who likes any of them will probably like the others, and anyone who dislikes any of them will probably dislike the others as well. I fall into the former category, and would love to have a bottle of any of the three, but will probably be adding either EAU POUDREE or PARFUM DU SOIR to my wishlist. These are really addictive, though, so in the end I may just have to enter rehab...

This one needs to be tested in all weather conditions. That oud can either go creamy sweet or get a little funky. The quality is phenomenal. If your looking for this type of fragrance, not trying to shoe horn a pre conceived notion of how you want this to smell, you'll be delighted. It's a Turkish rose loukhoum fragrance, with a nutty resinous base. Creamy, rosy, powdery ~ glamorous '50's starlet scent. You must have the ability to carry this off or she'll just wear you. And that's bad, really bad, lol. I don't wear it often, but when I do I get a lot of complements. As for longevity, the actual bottle hasn't any issues, sample sized I don't know about. Sillage is average.

Loukhoum Parfum du Soir was created in 2008 but it feels like it’s a decade older. I can’t pinpoint the reason, or point to a single note, but there’s something in the powdery mix that comes across like a delivery room in a hospital. One caveat is that it’s a strong scent (hence the 90s association) that has stamina and silage. Other than almond, powder and vanilla, I can’t pick out the other notes. This a very sweet, baby wipe kind of smell on my skin. Unfortunately I can’t get past that association.

Maybe take my review with a grain of salt, since I only tested this on a fragrance strip. But after what I smelled on paper, I simply didn’t have the heart to spray this on myself. I truly don’t understand the point of this. Not everything needs to be reformulated with oud!! This is advertised as the “evening” version of Loukhoum, yet the original already possesses enough versatility and olfactory strength to transition seamlessly from day to evening, and across all seasons if the perfume is truly your style. There was no real need for a “deeper” or “more dramatic”reinterpretation, especially not with oud, a note that is notorious for its potential to mimic the smell of feces and bodily secretions, something completely antithetical to a fragrance named after a confection! This is essentially the original Loukhoum with an added oud note that sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the other notes and drains the youthful charm from the fragrance replacing it with a smell that resembles a urinal. The whole “untrained nose” argument is insane. Life’s too short to bend over backwards trying to acquire a taste for something your senses are clearly rejecting. With that being said, I’m not inherently against flankers, I think they can offer meaningful nuance in a fragrance family when done well, but more often than not these “intense” or “evening” versions seem to lean more into marketing than meaningful formulation, I notice they bank on consumer FOMO and pandering to those who hope a fragrance that’s advertised as “ intense version” might do the heavy lifting in terms of charisma and presence. Granted, this fragrance is over a decade old, but these marketing tactics have always existed. My feelings on this only intensified upon discovering that this version is $240 while the original is $165. Comical tbh.... Honestly, ask yourself if the addition of a discordant oud note is truly worth an additional $75. I didn’t get any patchouli or benzoin from this, just straight up OG Loukhoum + oud.

I had it and I had to get rid of it , don’t get me wrong , I’m a huge lover of powdery sweet vanilla stuff but this thing here it’s out of this world , I have given it a few chances to make me change my mind but with every spray all I got was instant headache and the feeling that someone is eating my skin ... alive , I don’t know what’s about it and I got my bottle from a reputation store but I totally advice testing before buying , it is not for anyone , caution , hazardous ! Let’s not mention that it’s sickening sweet , pulls teeth out ! I wanted it so much after reading the comments here and I had huge expectations , to me this is the strongest perfume I have ever got to have and sadly give away . It will remain in my memory as a legal headache inducer .

this is totally baby powder on me. i've noticed others saying that about my favorite scents that don't smell like baby powder and being apprehensive, but now here i am saying it...it's like baby powder with something a little funky underneath all the powder, almost slightly food like or rancid. i love almond, and rose and many of the other notes, but sadly i don't get almond or anything else...

This is an utter stinker even your trash bin doesn't deserve. When i got my sample I tried it on the back of my hand and smiled. After a month I tried it again and was horrified. I set it aside for a week but still it smelled like death by saccharine. This is straight up chemicals and I would not recommend it, it's just too unbalanced.

this perfume as it was launched in 1997, has had different flacons. in 2007 Loukhoum was launched in three 'gradations' but more dramatically were the thèn used flacons. it was a kind of radicalised Poison de Dior flacon of a same deep purple hue, with the stopper as much torsioned as the flacon. you had an 'Eau Poudrée', an 'Edp' and a 'Parfum Pour Le Soir'. and this last one it is which I am reviewing here and having not smelled it for quite some time, this perfume has certainly gained in depth and impact, whereas this already of course, was the case. the Gilded lettering is all but swathed away off the highly polished glass. there is still much in it (55%) and it is sheer heaven ! the first impression qua impact is certainly comparable with Poison, if not perfume-wise, then surely in its unmeasurable depths and mystery. yet not so mysterious is the evident Loukhoum smell emphasized with Almond, Honey and Rose, predominantly. it is a beautiful perfume for who loves deep scents of pure alluring ingredients. the Rose is hijacked within the syrupy smell itself. I don't ever think of this to be 'Gourmand', as there evidently was Angel (1992) but the Trend had to still take off. I would never be so much vortexed in in the scents of Pastry, Chocolat or Sugar within perfumes. I loved Angel but somehow barely touched it, as was apparent after three acquierings of full flacons. yet this perfume I always found irresistible. I guess it must have been the Rose Note which eventuelly done me in completely. when you have 'built up a Collection' it is not on your mind 'to build up a Collection'. only in hindsight this appeared to have been the case. then suddenly you reach an age (69 in a Month) that all the perfumes suddenly come back at you because you know you will never be able to use up the 350+ flacons. what also is apparent is the almost obscene tenacity one has with a once acquired taste. a taste that immediately got a face in 1970s (or before) with my taste for Classic perfumes as chanel No5, No19, Cristalle, the Extraits, guerlain Shalimar, Mitsouko, L'Heure Bleue, but the real eye openers for me were all the vilest and most notorious (in hindsight !) Hookerperfumes of the 1980s. Loukhoum Parfum Du Soir [1997] 2007, in a sence prolongs this taste. it is an anavoidable, irreversible perfume. a Perfume Template with which I was always at ease.

Only a handful of fragrances have taken me on a spiritual journey through their essence and this is one of them. This must be what Heaven smells like -- a mix of sweet memories, the warmth of coming home, redemption from bitterness, comfort, familiarity, passion, pleasure, and understanding. If I had to name a fragrance that Mother Teresa would have worn, it would be this one. This fragrance is the essence of compassion; what is cultivated by having experienced immense pain that has blossomed into compassion rather than bitterness. Mother Teresa witnessed some of the most horrible poverty and sickness and through it all, she simply saw people who needed to be loved despite their circumstance. She was an alchemist of sorts; transforming bitterness to grace in those she loved. I first met the original Loukhoum, the original formula in the tall glass bottle, and although it was absolutely heartbreakingly lovely, it just wasn’t “me”. I would say that it is sweet in a way that is too good to be true, and since I myself have flaws and imperfections, it was difficult to relate to. This one is just right. The almond base is the backbone for me. I get a heavenly almond from the initial spray to the final dry down. The tonka and vanilla are heavy, full-bodied and strong, but what makes this stand apart is the rose and oud. They are perfectly balanced in this composition. I’ve worn rose/oud fragrances for the last few days and in other brands one or the other seems to dominate, but not in this one. Du Soir has all the sweetness of the original Loukhoum, but the oud/rose gives it some depth, a lot like the scars of someone who has been to Hell and back, but who has found peace and has grown from the experience like a bud grown out of the thorns. I visualize the three fragrances as a timeline. The Eau Poudree being perfect for the age of innocence, when life is fresh and new and anything is possible, like a newborn baby; when you embrace life with a heart full of hope. Loukhoum for a time when innocence is lost, but your heart is full of faith and joy, and finally Du Soir for a time when you are exhausted after a long journey but with a heart full of compassion.

I was given three samples of perfumes Loukhoum Collection with the purchase of a niche perfume. I was glad, because I finally seeking closer with these perfumes about which I have heard so many good reviews. While I am hoping that they would give me as a man !!! unisex perfume from Mecheri. But maybe they presented me what they had. Thanks to them))) Loukhoum Parfum du Соир is deep and relatively complex eastern-gourmet perfume. I particularly liked the start of the perfume, and if you do not look for tips on the pyramid, then the start of this perfume it seems to me honey benzoin, slightly woody (probably because of the oud). If I had not looked at the pyramid, then I would not have guessed that this perfume has oud !!Then Loukhoum Parfum du Soir blooms like honey and vanilla yellow-brown huge flower. This perfume will like thick- honey flavors lovers, like a Back to Black by Kilian. On my male skin to the base, which does not occur soon, in perfume he almond and vanilla is dominated. This perfume has good sillage- no doubt: I had a courage to wear it for 3-4 days))) And here is the feedback from colleague: One young man did not approve of this perfume (and I expected that from men-:)) saying that I smell like from confectionery. One of the girls going into the room and said: - "Do you feel in room any smell of varnish for furniture ?? !!!". And she was very surprised when I confessed that this is my perfume experiment))) I do not want to offend fans of all sisters Loukhoum- but I agree with her: in these three fragrances have something similar to lacquer furniture, as in Back to Black by Kilian-IMHO))) Only one girl said, that the fragrance reminiscent of powdered sugar poured on lochum))) About longevity- excellent !!! Sorry, but I do not share the enthusiasm of this flavor, although Loukhoum Parfum du Soir is rich and with high-quality !!!

This is one beast of a perfume! I've wanted to try this for years after reading about it here on Fragrantica. I love the smell of almond more than anything, it's my favorite smell above all. So when I finally saw this in a store I was thrilled! I loved it right away. Now, the struggle for me started once I had a full bottle, because honestly, this perfume is A LOT! It is so loud that almost overpowers my thinking. I guess I need to stop spraying it close to my face, so that I can really enjoy it without the total sensory overload It is however a beautiful scent! Very smoky-incensy and powdery almond with a touch of vintage rose on my skin. A lot more mature than I thought it would be. I could not imagine this being worn by a teenager unless she was very, very unique and "dark". I can't wait to try it during winter (autumn now). I usually don't care much about seasons when it comes to perfumes, but this would be totally out of place in summer for me. mood: in a dark attic on a chill autumm evening. The wind in the trees. Sitting on an old, dirty wood floor, wiping dust of off a pile of old books. Wearing a vintage dress. Picking out a book from that pile that happens to have a red -on the verge og burgundy- cover with a textural cloth wrapping and a title in small, almost invisible letters. Alone in that attic, calm, looking out at the moon through a crooked attic window and enjoying a whiff of past nostalgia

Wow! I had such high hopes from this being that I share my name with the scent but alas, it didn't live upto my expectations. Although this scent has been out for a while but it isn't available in my country and had to get a US residing relative to bring it to India for me to sample from LuckyScent. This is the first time that an almond note scent hasn't worked for me. It is so dated in that I feel like it might exist even before Fragrantica came about and there's nothing really timeless about it either. Glad I got to try it though as it was on my list for the longest time but it's just something I am ready to get out of my system and move on. As far as the fragrance goes, the patchouli is pulling far too strong on me than the other notes and somehow the greenness is spoiling any 'intended' nutty creaminess from the tonka bean and almond combined. The benzoin tries to give a decent base but the overall protruded powdery nature is far too excessive than my taste and style allow. I even tried it at different times but, just no! Won't be revisiting it in any shape or form unless a new flanker is more than a distant cousin of this one with some tartness cutting through the saccharine explosion just because I keep chasing almond-y nuttiness in perfumes. I rest my case.

Adorable and powdery vintage - type scent. :D I must say that once Parfum de Soir hit the middle notes and drydown I recognized something wonderfully familiar about it... perhaps in the roses and almonds? Certainly face powder and vintage scents come to mind! The similarity to another perfume I sense is to a bargain basement drugstore scent called 'BLUE WALTZ', available in a tiny, heart shaped bottle and not on the Fragrantica website to date. I have long been a fan, as a lover of nearly everything vintage, however humble! This little cutie costs around 3 dollars and was once available for far less in our mothers' and grandmothers' era. Truth to tell, I don't think Parfum de Soir smells any better, though there are a few bits that are Different about each. Better and Different are two different things! ;) That said, anyone who loves Parfum de Soir would do well to try Blue Waltz, and vice versa. The latter is easily available online at American sites such as drugstore.com.... Happy Sniffing!

Sweet milky angelic almond powder, an ethereal cloud, almost mysterious on how perfect this powder is (I don’t even like powdery fragrances and this is perfection). Smells like a woman who has been gorgeous all of her life. She was a baby that was born pretty, absolutely no crinkly skin, no red face or deformed head... just the prettiest baby born perfect and didn’t cry at all. Grew up never needing braces, no acne, hair looked perfect natural and wavy, but still very baby like as an adult; innocent and baby faced. The type of human who seemed to good to be true and she was. One day, oblivious to her rarity, a supernatural gust of wind scooped her away up into the clouds as she happily waved to her loved ones below, never to be seen again. Her family never cried or questioned anything, they knew she didn’t belong here... she was “Remedios la Bella” from the novel “Cien Años de Soledad”. This is what I imagine she smelled like.

I'm glad so many other people like this juice. I do not. Turkish delight and oud? I don't think so! The almond note which comes out well in the drydown of this one could have been very nice without the overly sweet rose and the totally out of place oud. I don't know what is the problem with perfumers today. They think if they throw oud into anything it makes the juice wonderful and niche and fabulous. No, no and no. This scent had promise at the beginning but the more it dried down the sweeter and oudier it became. This is to my nose Turkish delight with almond extract and a syrupy rose flavored cough syrup poured over it. The whole sticky mess is dripping into a piece of agarwood with confectioners sugar and baby powder poured on top of it. This is a serious disappointment to me because I like many of Ms. Mecheri's other scents. Guess I'll stick with the others.

Loukhoum is Turkish Delight. Candy mostly made of almonds, sugar and a bit of rose flavour. A warning (or a hint of temptation) : This juice smells heavenly delicious and ultra-ultra-sweet ! Gourmand to the core. Almonds, tonka bean, roses and vanilla and some more fine ingredients add to a fragrance which at first sniff appears innocent like a bubblegum-chewing teenage lolita. Don ́t let Loukhoum deceive you :-) Loukhoum is the fragrance of a sexy lady who knows how to seduce and that "man flies" can be easily be caught with sugar :-) Longevity is excellent and projection : HUGE ! Apply only little of it, it is a concentrated scent, almost a parfum, so one spray is almost too much already. LPDS is the better Angel - much, much better. Be prepared that if you wear Loukhoum Parfum Le Soir you will be noticed. By men, of course :-)

I find the du Soir version boring when compared to the eau Poudrée which I really enjoyed and I’m generally not a fan of soapy leaning powdery fragrances. It’s still almond-y and quite nice, but I find almond, tonka, héliotrope, etc to be so prevalent in fragrances that I can’t justify recommending or buying a mediocre one. The sillage, longevity is lighter too. However, I admit that I am a spoiled brat with my collection of niche fragrances that either are screamers or high def quality in scent. I have to absolutely fall in love or experience an aha! moment to buy a bottle these days and this one doesn’t come close in convincing me to open my wallet for it. Still, if you’re a designer frag, almond loving person this is worth trying.

Act 1: Baby powder intense. Act 2: A rose that was left in an attic for years but magically never dried out - it retains its rosy scent but with a thick layer of dust. Act 3: Dense, chewy, rose-scented gingerbread. Act 4: Cherries and smoke/cherry pipe tobacco. Very much enjoyed the little journey this fragrance took me on, however, on a 2nd try I got something soapy/synthetic hanging around and coming and going - a lurker! The lurker then took on a somewhat distasteful feeling in the back of my throat that made me think of chlorine. I enjoyed the rest of the frag so much though, I could possibly strike that 2nd try from the record.

This is very powerful, a cousin of hypnotic poison. Who loves hp will love this one. It's heavy and sticky sweet, but not really in a gourmandish way, as hp isn't. There's vanilla, there're almonds yes, but Loukhoum le parfum is mostly about roses, or better a rosy syrup (and that's fine for me)..BUT!! mixed with an unpleasant (for me) plastic/rubber smell, that one that had new plastic dolls in the eighties. I'll cherish my tiny bottle, but this could never be a signature scent for me

I love the original Loukhoum, but Loukhoum Parfum du Soir is the epitome of lokhoum-ness for me :) This is what I longed it to be: highly concentrated, mentholated, sugary, but fresh ALMOND POWDER with roses. I don't feel any oud whatsoever! Just a little woodiness in the background. It's a strong gourmand, but I don't get any sharpness from it. Pure delight, addictive and refined. I literally cannot write more than that at the moment as I feel intoxicated by this narcotic smell :)

I luckily just bought a tiny sample of this. I love the original Loukhoum, and thought this would be just as nice. It smells like Heaven Scent by Dana that I wore in junior high back in the 90's (my very first perfume)! Like exactly, on me anyway. It must be the very strong powder notes. Thank goodness I only purchased a sample. I would have been out over $150 for a fragrance that smells like a cheap drugstore perfume. I will stick with regular Loukhoum.

Sweet and salty almonds! At first this was so loud and sweet it actually made me a little nauseous. The drydown was a bit deeper than regular Loukhoum, but not by much - I could barely tell the difference. In the end, I think Montale's Sweet Oriental Dream does loukhoum the best. Still, I wouldn't have found out about Keiko Mecheri without the search!

Marzipan, baby powder, some turkish rose and more tonka than anyone could ask for. This is what I wear "that time of the month" when the cravings kick in. Loukhoum parfum du soir is the guiltiest dessert of them all. Nothing sophisticated, only indulgent. I find it highly satisfying when I'm in the mood, and unbearably sweet at any other time.

Reading the raving reviews, I was sure to like this. WRONG! This is VERY strong, patchouli benzoin and oud are overpowering all other notes :( No powder in this!! It is sweet and LOUD. Sillage is heavy and longevity crazy! Had to wash it off three times... Glad I just got a sample! I will try the regular Loukhoum then.

It's quite nice thou! Sour almonds with some powdery vanilla & most likely baby powder with some hidden citrus notes and tonka beans. I can sense some powered sourness in this juice as well with a mild sweetness. I remember i have sniffed it long time before but this second test is quite different.

Whoa, Nelly! That almond note made me look twice that this wasn't by Lucrezia Borgia. Bitterest almond ever, every note exaggerated, this could be Andy Warhol does L'Heure Bleue. Daring and luxurious. Not for shy people.

They have JUST brought this back and I have just seen it on Lucky Scent for sale, so I came here to read reviews. I do believe it's less powdery than the original, but at least they brought it back.
