Lunea

My vision, originally, was to build a fragrance library that had at least one fine example of all the different genres, and while I may have came close, I discovered along the way that I definitely have a type. Now I did expand my horizons as I branched into florals, sampled woods, and fell in love with fresh greens. I began to try more and more fragrances that took patience to develop or ones with notes that challenged me. But overall, I do prefer the sweet gourmands as much as ever. I did not expect to love Lunea as much as I do despite how great the listed notes sounded because, well, I've been burnt before. But she's a beautiful resinous-bordering-on-spicy toffee fragrance that I preferred to others I sampled today, even though it is late spring and she's an autumn if ever I met one. I love the smell and taste of toffee, but alas! it is not on my diet. This captures the complex just slightly caramelized toffee fairly well. With the resinous and woody notes, it reminds me of a fancy cigar box that was repurposed to store sweets. So warm, heady, and inviting! But this is still a dark scent, not fluffy nor floral. A caveat: One must love myrrh to enjoy this fragrance. If you are unsure whether you'll like myrrh— misspelled above, I also note that Fragrantica often misspells hyacinth, too, so that interferes with searches— most stores that sell incense will have myrrh in some form, sometimes only paired with frankincense (as it is here). It may even be cheaper to buy myrrh incense online than a sample of this, but I haven't bought incense in years, so I could be wrong. But as long as one samples this with the understanding that it is going to be DARKLY sweet with very resinous tones in the forefront, it should please well enough. Intense resinous gourmand. A sweeter version of Amouage Jubilation XXV, perhaps. No fluff here. 10/10.

This one IS bold, daring and beautiful. Intense, loud and evening-type of fragrance. This type of perfumes is pointless to explain to others, as such notes behave totally differently on different wearers. You must experience it by yourself, but Lunea is so much fun, you will not regret this ride. On me Lunea is a younger and less fierce sister of Lutens Bapteme du Feu, they both are spicy orientals on a different side. To some Lunea could be in tune with Christmas time, ginger cookies and mulled wines. To others that could be a toffee dessert on exotic island. But 90% of people will love it regardless of the associations, because Lunea is very entertaining fragrance.

This has a beautiful gourmand opening. You get a blast of chocolate and hot caramel with a fresh note of orange. It almost reminds me of Bond New Haarlem, it's got the same thick syrupy vibe. The drydown is even more amazing. once the heavy gourmand notes settle the rose and neroli start to freshen it up. The olibanum en wood notes calms everything down to a well blended gourmand that surprised me in the drydown I have to say I was not the biggest fan of Keiko Mecheri, but I'm impressed by her latest Les Merveilles creations. Grand Soiree is already the big winner for me, but also Lunea will be a full bottle soon.

Elegant, sexy, and mysterious. It opens with a mouthwatering rich caramelized gourmand scent, woody and spicy. Delicious. This is a go-to for evenings, especially on cooler nights. When I wear this I see a deep indigo and burnished orange twilight. Deep and sensual. Despite the sweet gourmand notes, it stays well-balanced. Spraying it on my chest provides a nice treat for several hours. It is pretty strong, so don't over spray.

This is a MASTERPIECE! It is a sweet,dreamy scent that brings me back to a child... close your eyes and let yourself be carried away! I love this perfume, Keiko Mecheri has created something wonderful in my opinion, among my absolute favorites! The sillage is moderate and the very good longevity! A perfume full of magic and dreams, poetic...celestial .... Sillage: 7./10 Longevity: 8./10 Scent: 10./10 Overall: 10./10
