Rebel Hearts

tried this on at the store and immediately fell in love with it. i was originally after something else but once the saleswoman sprayed this i was hooked. this is a gourmand that opens almost cherrylike (at least to me), and is a heavy amaretto scent. i agree with a previous poster that its name doesn't fit its scent - there is nothing rebel about this. this is soft and feminine, leaning a little unisex in the drydown (i'm male and its my signature). i don't detect any rose and citrus in this, and it lasts on me for 4 hours before coming a skin scent. my daily go-to!

I have Rebel Hearts and I love it, but no comparisons should be made to Loukhoum when reviewing this. They have absolutely zero in common. RH is very rose and benzoin centered without being powdery. Can we, for god's sake just stop describing every single ultra feminine fume as powdery? Anyhow, decent longevity, just when you think it has completely gone, it re-appears again and I love that! Worth owning!

Safe blind buy for Loukhoum and Ume adepts IMO. Very powdery-creamy and even leaning towards gourmand side on my skin. Among white line of Keiko Mecheri Rebel Hearts is more intense than woody Embruns, for example. I don't perceive it as bold and rebel though, it is soft-spoken, feminine cloud of fluff and powder with distinctive almond trail. Sits close to the skin, lasting power is 4 hours at most.

This is very clearly inspired by Loukhoum- it’s the sweeter, more youthful version. Where Loukhoum’s rose is a dusty powder, Rebel Hearts’ is sweet and jammy. Amaretto is very present and replaces almond powder with a syrupy amber sweetness. It almost has a sour cherry feel to it; not quite boozy. I’d say the benzoin replaces the honey, has a much lighter presence, is still balsamic but makes RH feel less chewy- gourmand. The addition of patchouli keeps it more grounded- less airy and more earthy- and makes this feel more modern a la fruitchouli, but doesn’t quite qualify as one. I only wish it were a little stronger- this quickly becomes a skin scent and needs to be reapplied after a few hours. Almond lovers must give this a try.

Rebel Hearts was a bit of a dissapointment for me; I was expecting a lot from it but ended up feeling rather indifferent about it. I think it's because amaretto just isn't "my" perfume note; it has a particular kind of sweetness that, at least to my nose, can easily become too much. It's not the sweetness in itself that I object too, I love Loukhoum from this same house, for instance, so there doesn't seem to be any limits to how sweet a scent can be in order to please me...but the kind of sweetness matters too, and how it's balanced. In this case the amaretto note takes over the entire composition entirely, and makes it kind of flat - I can barely make out any other notes, which is a real shame, considering how lovely that note list looks. This one is much lighter than Loukhoum, but somehow a lot more overbearing because of that flat sweetness, which makes it less of a problem that it isn't very long-lasting. I don't dislike it, but I don't think I'll ever use up my little decant...unless it hits very differently on a cold day, which isn't impossible: I think this warm period in september wasn't the best time to test it out, and I'll definitely try again this winter.
