Kemi

Al-Kimiya (origin of alchemy and originally meaning Kemi-Blending Magic or magical formulation) is a pseudo-elixir, an age long goal of chemistry in its first steps, during the golden age of middle eastern science when chemists tried to achieve two ultimate goals of ambitious men, wealth and immortality. Kimiya heals any wound, cures any sickness, brings back youth and turns any stone into gold. Every king at the time would throw money at chemists, bringing them from borders of their territory, even beyond, to find the formula and make them one. They'd execute the chemists out of frustration facing the reality of old age or even got killed by the chemists feeding them all kinds of insane concoctions. All for the dream of Kimiya. A royal elixir made in the deserts of old Middle East. Kemi does a great job and brilliantly captures that idea, the middle Eastern desert setting (oud), the feeling of a king's lust (caramel, vanilla, tobacco?) and Arabian sacrifice-magic (civet, musk, castoreum). The final product has middle eastern magic all over it. You can almost hear Arabian belly dancer theme music wearing this. Review: Now the opening is frightening, I can imagine most who've opened the cap, just to close it right away and ask themselves what just happened and why would someone make that, for hours regretting the unforgettable inhale of sweet human sweat, camel piss and farm animal feces! (I personally do not mind any of that though) Little do they know had they given this ugly one a chance there'd be a black swan making up for that initial impression, flying so beautifully around one's skin, getting better and better for hours after application. The caramel and vanilla get the spotlight and hang on to it with the sandalwood making it even more creamy and interesting and the animal notes carry it over that high line to become jaw-dropping. To make you touch your forehead and faint dramatically: it's all happening on a rich bed of Aoud (similar to the one in the magnificent MFK Oud Extrait). As long as there is good projection (3 hours for one spray, 5 for two) the scent stays the same and after that as a skin scent the woody base (cedar?) will appear to introduce an old library accord, a very old dusty one. The gourmand notes have passed the spotlight to the animals and it's simply carnal and quite sexy. I think I must add my love for Kemi is so out of my ordinary, as not only I'm not a fan of vanilla but I also hate sweeties and gourmands! It's the very first sweet perfume that I have truly loved, and I actually feel comfortable in Kemi, the feeling it gives me? Royal, importance and heritage, something ancient lies in this formula, like riding a wild stallion that accepts only you or wielding Alexander the Great's warhammer and the superstition of taking after his greatness! Kemi makes me tempted to believe in great things that don't make sense! Who should try this? If you're a gourmand lover that is into animalics definitely try this it's made for you, if you love animalics whether or not you're into gourmands or sweeties you should not overlook this you may be just as surprised as I am, if you are into Middle Eastern perfumes, rich complex concoctions or just something that'd challenge you try it, you may find your match. If you have not smelled animalics or you tried Kouros and deemed it unwearable, you are not ready for this. Who I imagine wearing this? Someone that has fire in her heart and handles it like a boss, loud and shameless, chic and vulgar, in short Madonna. I love it on myself and I find it very attractive on both a boy or girl. I've already told you what it reminds me of, a lustful Arabian king's kingdom and holy grail. The bottle looks like a relic, it lasts a long time and projects just enough to not put you in embarrassing situations. And of course, love.

There seems to be even less real Oud if any and for example one of the main notes - Caramel - is not even mentioned in the notes of Kemi in K collection. Some perfumes which I love in summertime. I know, the most of the people don’t wear these kind of heavy ones in hot but on my skin these are best on warm weather. 🔥 KEMI (released originally 2014) Top: Cedar, Laotian agarwood (Oud) Middle: Gurjum Balsam, Caramel, Castoreum, Civet Base: Sandalwood, Vanilla, wood notes I have some obsession with caramel notes in summertime and in this concoction, I just can’t resist it. It’s so amazing now when it melts on my skin. This smells exactly how you can imagine because of the notes: woody, oudy, sensual, animalic, soft, sweet and addictive. It’s well blended and enjoyable. 🔥 ‘ilm (2014) Arabic word for “knowledge” Very challenging and barnyardy Indian Assam oud Oud from Bangladesh Oud from Laos “It is an unfathomable combination of different types of oud wood with their heavy, brown, earthy, and slumbering smell, evoking a sense of age and wisdom. ‘ilm opens with the fruity dimension imparted by the loudness of oud wood. The fruity dimension also imparts tobacco-like features to the solid and mystical oud and makes it enchantingly mysterious. Dark, yet bright and promising, heavy, yet full of passion, like knowledge that is unattainable, which once possessed bestows to its bearer all the secrets of the universe.“ ❗️And no, I don’t believe or think that this is real Oud. There is a little hint of those and the rest is something else but I enjoy it regardless. Real Ouds and synthetic blends are totally different categories for sure. My thoughts on “Ouds” is well said in Ensar Oud website: “The perfume industry has flooded the market with synthetic oud aroma chemicals, watering down and convoluting the legacy of oud with their shallow and linear plantation ouds. To be blunt, most brands starting to use the term are just milking the cash cow that is the growing trend and vast market of wealthy Arab and Middle-eastern nations given their affinity towards everything oud, and nothing to do with appreciation of the fine aromatic. The use of oud as a term has never been more widespread, nor has the quality ever been so low. I can sense that cheeky desire of a charming guy, well... he is the kind of fairy tale prince with a twisted mind somehow! His sleazy desires are covered by his day prestige, as no one knows about his adventures but his multiple partners. Doses of caramel and vanilla to give the impressions of innocence and delicacy just to hide the naughty doses of that charming fairy tale prince's kinks. He never lies if anybody asks but he twists the answers to make you believe that you got what you were looking for! Quite an enchanting potion to be specific and i thought that would be the smell of "Ethereal" by Boadicea the victorious but it's not. It's more of a caramel sweet vanilla sandalwood with tiny hints of animalic notes (thank GOD it's not musk ... phew) and these animalics are mostly the oud cause i can sense dust later on and kind of a "metallic woods"!??? like waters runs within an old pipes in a forest hut!!? Oh.. WTH am i sniffing! I believe you will get this if your nose got too close to the area that you sprayed this fragrance on (skin of course) but if you got far away, you will sniff the right balance of what have been mentioned above plus a tiny bit of cinnamon. I only wish that they have made 50ml of this fragrance as well cause 100 ml is just too much.

What an exhilarating blast of oud and juicy cedar (if cedar can be juicy), in this jaw-dropping opening! I can almost smelled pine or fir balsam notes (that immediately made me feel that closer to the holidays), only to be softened by the caramel that was NOT too sweet but was a bit salty. I can't stop sniffing my arm and I want more of it so badly! The scent has now settled and to my excitement has become more animalic, which must be the notes of castoreum and civet, but the civet is very shy, hiding under caramel and vanilla. At this stage the potion is a unique mix of oud that actually has its presence throughout all the stages, with sandalwood and gurjan balsam, a note that I'm not very familiar with but it must be the one that gives this scent the slightly bitter nuttiness. Kemi Kemi is unisex. Most definitely one of the most unique fragrances that I have ever smelled. Kemi Kemi is not sweet or gourmand, even with the caramel as a main player. Its longevity (on my weird skin) is less than the other Kemi's, only about 4 hrs, with a low to moderate sillage. I find myself craving more and more of it, and I'm extremely satisfied that I have another gorgeous perfume and bottle to add to my Kemi collection.

Kemi, the centerpiece of Al-Kimiya Blending Magic, is not just a perfume, but in essence a mystical experience, like traveling through the Egyptian arts and culture. The magnificent formula unfolds on skin with a compact amalgamation of oud , civet and castoreum lending a big animalic punch to the composition, well supported by a beautiful cedar note that carries throughout the transitions. What sets this magical perfume apart is the rich salten caramel featured here, so multifaceted and complex that I can smell layers upon layers of syrupy sweetness, so enticing, and photorealistic, with almost a slight salty element. The civet is there but almost hidden underneath the sweetness, the castoreum adds a smoky leathery quality, and the oud is just rich and exotic smelling in combination with the contrasting set of notes chosen for this majestic perfume. The creamy sweetness of sandalwood and vanilla frame the composition in the base. The exotic olfactory ride lingers for many hours, until it fades into a beautiful memory, Kemi is like a vivid dream, a rare creature , astonishing, unforgettable.

No Skin No Magic... First time I tried this perfume on a blotter I was horrified. Skanky barnyard at its highest. Like smelling cow poo after having eaten a thousand candies... Not for me. I ran away. But... early this year I gave this juice another chance and I went directly (not smelling the cap, not in paper...) to the skin, and waited like 1 minute until I put my nose close... and the magic happened!!! Could be the skin chemistry, or just my brain blocking the barnyard accord for survival, but I just got a very sensual, dense, sweet but no too sweet (I am not into gourmands), elegant scent. Like smelling a complete different perfume. This smells like heating up vanilla on a wooden bowl. It is bold, but not too laud, to me is this is a sexy, sweet, thick second skin. Very addictive and very well made. No rough edges, no discordant notes, a perfect melody. Uniqueness: high Scent: 8/10 Performance: high Would I buy it: Yes (already in my collection)

I agree with others that this is synthetic beast. But what matters is how it actually smells. I find it divine. It's over the top caramel and oud are what blasts out loud and clear, but the other notes are not just vaguely in play in the scent journey. A number of reviewers I respect a great deal call this a bold scent that takes some courage to wear. I agree. Some call it sexy. I guess I can understand this reaction, but it isn't as much sexy as strong in a masculine leaning way which some might define as sexy. It is also sweet and gooey, almost as if it could be chewed. I'm not sure if people should wear this in warm weather but if you are in room with people who are huddled closely together, then you will be the center of attention. I can't compare this to any other fragrance I own and that is a great thing for me. I will be wearing it a lot if I can figure out where and when. Full bottle worthy but it should be sampled because of how bold it is.

The signature centerpiece from the beautiful Kemi line of Arabian inspired fragrances is this bold and dense oriental gourmand with strong animalic vibes. The perfume kicks off on a woody note with oud and cedar and moves into this dense animalic gourmand base which stays throughout the wear of the perfume. The notes I can clearly detect are caramel, civet, castoreum and gurjun balsam. As it begins drying off one can get hints of sandalwood and vanilla giving the drydown a powdery feel. Unisex, beautifully blended with moderate to strong sillage and good longevity. This is a bold sensual perfume. Those of you who fresh aromatic fougeres will probably be repulsed but those of you who are unbridled sensualists will find much to enjoy in this erotic masterpiece. Enjoy!

Kemi is a warm, sweet and delicate fragrance with intriguing trail and a personality of it's own. It has a hint of oud that makes Kemi not only spicy and deliciously gourmand but also slightly animalic. It's an elegant and unusual fragrance which can't be called 'dirty' in any way. Those who state this just don't have enough experience in oud-inspired fragrances. I like it very much, the scent and the presentation, except longevity. Kemi sits close enough to the skin and disappears just in few hours, needing reapplication. I hoped it was more long pasting. Anyway when you put it on the sillage is mysterious and very unusual.

The sexiest scent I have ever smelled on men. Masterfully blended castoreum and caramel in your face. I do not get sandalwood but dry oud and cedar that binds other notes together (Sorry oud, you are not the star in here.). Wild, sweet, warm, big skanky funk but so sensually provocative and loud. An acquired taste for sure, and it needs the right person, character, skin, or even sweat unless it will wear you.

I love this. It's so synthetic, it's so chemical and it's so unnatural, but I don't care. Masterfully mixed, whatever it is. Expertly, even. What a marvellous combination this scent is. It's hellishly expensive, but it's THAT GOOD that I'm finding myself justifying considering it... Caramel, smooth animalics and a gorgeous sandalwood. OMG this is THAT GOOD.

Woody, caramel, vanilla and animalic notes compined masterfully! It's dirty and sexy but creamy and gourmand at the same time! A very unique scent that performs amazingly! I really love this scent!

Beautiful Fragrance. The development on skin is astounding. The art of perfumery at its finest.

Hello tobacco! I wasn't expecting you but there you are! This is predominantly a tobacco scent on me. The woods are there but they blend with each other and into the tobacco. The astringent/medicinal edge stays and there is a scent that really reminds me of mouth numbing medicine. Add in the sweet creamy vanilla and sandalwood and the result is amazingly mellow -- hypnotic even. After wearing it for three or four hours I started getting wafts of a rich meditative sandalwood. I would say it was incense-like, but it isn't at all smokey. Just rich and beautiful. I still smell tobacco if I press my nose to my wrist but the sandalwood is dominate. I also occasionally get sweet Carmel notes. It stays like this for a long time. It's been almost 12 hours and it's still going strong. I am impressed.

I just noted that it was sweet with a very slight poopy note, but both my wife and a friend sniffed it, put thoughtful looks on their faces, and independently said the same thing, "Twizzlers!" So I guess it smells like Twizzlers. (I kind of get that.) It doesn't seem to last especially long on me - but then, almost nothing does.

I'm smelling this and the Xerjoff version side by side and there's no difference at all to my nose.

Dia(rrhea)betes. Pooey, vomity, sickly sweet caramel, bubblegum, haribo, poo.

I just don't know what to say about this. It's like a sweetened diarrhea smell. Almost like walking through a horse barn while eating cotton candy. I don't know who would find this combination appealing, but it's not me.

After seeing the notes on Kemi I knew I had to try it. It looks delicious. So I ordered a small sample to try on my skin. I will admit to being a bid giddy when the sample arrived. The very next day I gave it a full wearing. I will start by saying that Kemi is a VERY unique and well blended fragrance. Kemi opens with a medicinal chocolate vibe on my skin. Kind of like baking a rich chocolate cake with couch drops in it. It Quickly turns into a chocolaty tobacco type scent. When I was a very young boy, my grandfather lived with us. He used to love to chew tobacco and he always had chocolate candy bars in his room. The opening phase of Kemi reminds me of the scent in my grandfather's room. So far I am really liking this fragrance! As kemi evolves, a slightly sweet caramel and vanilla appear, accompanied by woody and animalisitc notes. more castoreum that civet. The chocolaty tobacco recede. About 4 hours in Kemi is a caramel and castoreum scent, with slight woody vanilla. Up until this point I was impressed with Kemi. About 6 hours in Kemi changes from a deliciously unique scent into... a cardboard box?? Yes, really.. a cardboard box... and stays there for the rest of the life of the fragrance. A very disappointing ending. I had really high hopes for Kemi, and the first 4 to 6 hours are amazing on my skin. But I cannot justify those prices to smell like a cardboard box during dry down or to reapply every 4 hours. So I will have to pass on this one. Bottom line: If you like unique scent you should try a sample of this one. Hopefully you wont get the cardboard box phase on your skin.

Tried it today,upon a Dimitri’s review on yt...i didn’t even know that is available in my hometown’s niche perfumery,so i was really curious...to sum it up,there’s nothing funky/poopy/horse stable sh*** and that kind of things,and i can say that i’m more in mainstream kind of fragrances(not bleue de chanel or sauvage),a little bit over that,but neither i enjoy uber funky dirty animalic/oud fragrances.So my point is that’s this is perfectly perfectly wearable gourmand fragrance.I was afraid of reviews,so i said a lady in a shop,to put it first on a paper strip,to see if it’s really that stinky,but after a second,i said,give this “bad” boy on a skin.As i said,this is so wearable and beautiful gourmand(caramel),that i could almost blind buy.The only complain is a price.It costs over 300€.I don’t think that the smell,which is really good,is worth that price point.I also think that it isn’t so groundbreaking.In every other aspect,this is an excellent and very wearable stuff.I’m glad that i put my nose on it.

This is one of the best Kemis I have tried. The opening is addictively sweet, but not cloying. I can smell sweet caramel and vanilla, reinforced by what I believe to be Laotian Oud. The animalic notes along with the other woods remain in the background and keep the scent from turning into a sugar bomb. It is a very sensual fragrance. I would not describe it as a powerhouse, however, it has something very comforting about it. The projection is up to 1,5 meters for the first 3 hours. It is not the strongest of the Kemi house (see Tempest, for instance), but it's the most gratifying. A masterpiece in my book. Highly recommended for those who appreciate all the facets of natural oud. P.S.: To those who consider it to be unpleasant, I would say that it all depends on a) skin chemistry and b) weather. Not all oud scents turn out pretty on my skin, either, however, such fragrances require patience and dedication.

Just a reminder to people that animalic notes are processed differently by different noses. Some noses are more sensitive to some notes and some others to other notes. If you see people say they perceived it like horse s*** and some others say it's very nice and balanced, that's the reason. Always remember that some perfumes are on the boards and you can think of them like funky French cheese -- lots of people love it and lots of others cannot stand it. For example, my nose perceives jasmine note with some skunky background. That makes things enjoyable by many unpleasant to me if the skunky edge of it is not defused.

This fragrance is very soft on your sense of smell. It's very pleasing to the sense of smell. It doesn't stand out in any way, but if you're a fan of skanky fragrances, this is a mild skanky fragrance that your significant other would most likely approve of. Beware, castoreum heavy.

A barnyard oud note adorned with caramel, sandalwood and some skank. Oh, it's just adorable. Reminds me of impossible moments that could be together in one only place. It's a trip to the orient or to another time in another life. A fragrance for dreamers.

Boozy animalic oud. I think the oud smells very realistic, I’m no expert on oud but I know synthics and this doesn’t smell synthetic to me at all. Smells like oud chips soaking in a vanilla bourbon or something.. I love it.

Kemi by kemi A funky oud & civet. Combined with gourmond elements. A very expensive wierd scent.

This is by far the worst fragrance I have ever smell, it literally smells like horse sh*t...
