Kensie Life Beat

This reminds me of a perfume I can't remember the name of that I absolutely adored in high school. Soft cotton candy, sugar, vanilla, and mild citrus tones. I haven't been too impressed with many of Kensie's line but this one I would buy again. I'm surprised at a lot of the notes listed here because this really isn't a very floral, fruity, or musky scent at all.

Smells like a type of bubblegum I had in the 90s but yet it doesn’t have the typical bubblegum scent. It’s fruity, floral and the base notes tone down the “brightness” of the fruity notes. So it’s toned down. But it’s really lovely. I’d say it’s a safe buy if you like sweet scents.

This doesn’t last all day, but it is very pretty smelling and does project moderately. So much so, that a nurse came up to me while I was in the ER after an auto collision and asked me what I was wearing because they were all wanting to know once I was medically cleared.

While I wouldn't describe Life Beat and Free Spirit as being particularly similar perfumes, LB definitely impressed me more than FS. While both are rather generic and familiar, LB feels much more high end. I also would not say FS is a gourmand, but LB DEFINITELY is and it feels like it would be at home w/the likes of LVEB, V&R's BonBon, YSL's Black Opium et al. Super creamy and comfy. Surprised to see so many fruits rather than caramel, praline, marshmallow type notes listed above though I suppose the gourmand factor here may indeed be no more complex than coconut, vanilla, and sugar.

For whatever reason, I find this perfume very "early 90s", when fruity and vanilla tinted scents were still "shy" and new. Of course they exploded quickly but this is soft and tame, cute. I find it playful and bright, young, like something I'd pick up at Gap, which is not a bad thing. It does have some powdery background that gives it more of a perfume than a "body splash" vibe. But I still find it "weak", as in personality. Very nice and safe, definitely not a signature scent or something I'd buy a full bottle of. I received a purse spray in a beauty box and I'm sure I will not reach for it often, if at all.
