Kenzo Jungle Homme

J'adore. Sublime woodsy elegance - yet uplifting, bright, meditative and utterly intoxicating. Reminds me of an antique Chinese cabinet my Mum has, made from different fragrant woods and even though it's well over a century old, if you leave clothes in the compartments for a few months they emerge imbued with a faint woody fragrance that reminds me of this. Jungle Homme is very Palo Santo. Palo Santo ("holy wood") gets its name because it was used as ceremonial incense by the Inca and has a relaxed, meditative quality. The guaiac wood (Palo Santo aka Lignum Vitae is the raw material) is very prominent in Jungle Homme - the star of the show - and lends a distinctive, uplifting presence that for some reason makes me think of velvet. Guaiac has a subtle, slightly camphoraceous aspect that lends a kind of brightness and freshness, yet still anchors the composition. If I recall rightly, this was the first guaiac fragrance I ever experienced and I was captivated back then and remain so today. Incidentally, there is a very similar guaiac thing going on in CDG Wonderwood. Jungle Homme doesn't really evolve much on my skin, it transitions from the opening into a subtly spiced woodsy symphony (starring guaiac wood), tailored and enhanced by the other components, of which facets of cardamom, cinnamon and nutmeg are perhaps most noticeable to my amateur nose, and it is this composite blend that persists through to the dry down. The bottle I have at present is from 2010, the original version in the purple box with the light green square. Don't know what the current version is like, but will doubtless find out soon. Performance is okay, but not stellar, and in Winter KJH lasts around six hours on my currently very dry (but usually oily) skin - really wish longevity were greater. In the past Jungle Homme did perform much better when my skin was more oily (I hate that term but it's how they categorise my skin type) so I usually extend the lifespan by applying it over an improvised fond de parfum - fractionated coconut oil, almond oil, or white ambergris, which more than doubles its longevity. As I adore woody fragrances and am partial to Palo Santo as a home fragrance (heating wood chips Japanese style in an electric burner releases the oil without combustion) find this a comforting, relaxing, elegant fragrance that most people seem to really like. Every time I wear this, Jungle Homme really is an exquisitely beautiful blend of woods and spices - elegant and stylish. This smells niche, quality, classy. Due to the very prominent guaiacol I tend to think of it as CDG Wonderwood's older, wiser, more worldly brother.

This one is special for me. Very original fragrance, and hard to deliver in words.. the author gave the only possible name to it - "Jungle". It comforts me. It's like I'm petting some wild animal - and not feeling dangerous about that, right opposite - feeling "related".. There is also something soft like fur and sweet like vanilla about it.. - not candy-sweet though, rather 'sweet' like reference to person - "he's sweet guy"; and there is no vanilla in ingredients - so I guess my senses pull 'vanilla' as as association of "vanilla sex". I live in Florida - it's hot and humid here most of the year. Strangely, without being "crisp", this fragrance behaves really well for such weather. I've experimented with fresh and airy "Aqua di..." and Citrus-y types - they all work, of cause, - but that's what became common way to smell round here, so in a way I feel tired of it.. From another hand - applying other interesting "fougere" or "gourmand" types not always finishes well for me: I do sweat (excuse details) and get overwhelmed by heat at moments, and suddenly perfume may turn suffocating.. not this one.. This one harmonizes me with all this heat, I don't feel hunted down by blazing sun and steaming everglades - I feel almost becoming part of it.. this is fascinating. First time I smelled 'Jungle' in early 2000s. I thought "my gosh, how exotic..." and I was not ready - I wanted to smell "popular" (this fragrance arguably never was and probably never will be "popular").. These days I don't want anymore to be popular, don't want to "stand out and challenge" either.. This is the fragrance that makes me feel free. I never get compliments or remarks on it, but I notice people's perception of me is affected when I wear it.. they like me and do not attack me.. LOL. I wear it on and off for 2 years now. Anyways.. silage is 'careful'; projection is - 'crouching Tiger/hidden Dragon'; longevity is 'great' on my skin/hair - in 6-8 hours it keeps radiating gently, and next day in shower I suddenly revive it for one more whiff; fragrance itself - 'Unique and Harmonious'. If you're looking to be a "star of the evening" - I don't think this will "bit competitors". It will stand free and non-intrusive, like wild exotic animal we see on a distance.. My overall rating 10/10. Thanks.

I just love the cinnamon-nutmeg chord in this fragrance. Also Benzoin does a good job in the balance. All those woods are in the base all the time and in the opening, the cardamom note is very comforting. Jungle is Warm and mysterious. It reminds me of that old red oil to polish the furniture, I don't say it resembles it, but remind me of. Hours later, close to the skin, it gets very soft and woody. Jungle gives a very nice experience. //Update: This one is for fall and surely it will be great for winter and holidays. All those notes just make me feel good. I really like the zebra idea, but maybe Jungle is not the best name. It is a very nice surprise how this change with the weather. If someone first tried Jungle on summer, give it another try... from like to love. *** Amo el acorde de canela-nuez moscada en esta fragancia. También el benjuí (creo que es la traducción) hace un buen trabajo en el balance. Todas esas maderas están en la base todo el tiempo y en la apertura, la nota de cardamomo es muy confortante. Jungle es misterioso y cálido. Me recuerda a ese viejo aceite rojo para pulir muebles, no digo que huela parecido, pero me lo recuerda. Algunas horas después, cerca de la piel, se vuelve muy suave y amaderado. Jungle te da una muy agradable experiencia. Actualización: Esta es para otoño y seguro será genial en invierno y las fiestas. Todas esas notas me han hecho sentir bien. Me gusta mucho el concepto de la cebra, pero quizá Jungle no sea el mejor nombre. Muy agradable sorpresa cómo cambió con el clima. Si alguien la probó por primera vez en verano, dele otra oportunidad. Pasó de gustar a encantarme.

Kenzo Jungle is truly what one neophyte would call ̈exotic ̈: Sweet and smokey at the same time (cinnamon,benzoin,sandalwood), round up by a heavy measure of tropical wood notes (cedar+guaiac), a tad animalic (pepper,spices): it ́s impressive, evocative, lush, and quite sexy. It lives up to its name; not necesarely reminiscent of the jungle itself, but how it feels like to be in a wooden lodge in the evening, in good company while looking at the sun setting beyond the tropical forest, lulled by the sounds of animals; mysterious, exciting, sensual. It ́s interesting to see that such a fragrance was once marketed for the masses (which really shows how the 90 ́s were more bold tastewise than what we ́ve got nowadays). I still remember the impressive TV commercial for the female version "Elephant" back in the day, another interesting and beautiful scent, just a bit sweeter and a tad less woodier. For those interested in trying it: Jungle always reacted very well for me in any occasion but I would recommend waiting for the drydown to really make up your mind about it; give it time, and remember these kind of fragrances (spicy, aromatic) react differently on each one ́s skin. If you pass the tests...welcome to the jungle!

I don't know if this fume falls under the category of missing notes (not listed) or if the right combination of notes gives the effect of another note...To me, this opens with a very clear cumin and lime flurry that is grounded by the richness of a coconut and sandalwood heart/base. It's like indulging in a spiced coconut cream - there is just a hint of cinnamon, cardamom, and mate sprinkled on a creamy, woody (thanks to the clear cedar note) coconut mixed with a dense white muck and airy sandalwood. This is sublime and smells something like abstract art with notes you are familiar with done in a way that is quite difficult to decipher. I am repelled and attracted to it simultaneously - it is very dissonant but madly attractive...such a mad love! It stays fairly linear in it spiced coconut concoction for quite some time but dries off to a very pleasing white musk (and nutmeg?!?) that clings to skin for hours. It's definitely a unique spring/summer scent that can be pulled off in the colder months as well. I also think this is appropriate for all genders as nothing in here screams man. Kenzo Jungle Homme is among Olivier Cresp's finest creations. An apotheosis of woods and spice, it shows how spices, especially a radiant cardamom and bittersweet nutmeg complement woods, giving them lift and diffusivity. Opening with a lime and bergamot, these spices are the spine right through to the bass line. Fresh and tangy transform into a peppery warmth, with what I detect is a sizable amount of guaiac wood, which has a unique, slightly smoky, oleaginous and balsamic feel. It fuses woody notes together in perfume; a fascinating material, it serves as glue to the otherwise elusive facets of sandalwood and cedar. It's like the oil that keeps the warmth in the lamp going. There is an underlying fresh perspiration feel here, not unlike that of Declaration (no Iso E Super here, however). This imparts a subtle human carnality. The overall effect is balmy and exotic, much like its sibling Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant; however, Homme is modulated to a more simmering volume and is reignited through the heat of one's own body through wear (I love this phenomenon).

Kenzo Jungle Homme is a very nice smell. I don't know how the real jungle smells, but there is something intriguing and very animalistic in this fragrance. In general it's citrusy, a bit bitter, a litlle bit flowery - but more on the green side then blossom. What makes it special and unique are these "animalistic" notes. Well, I wrote "animalistic" but what I really mean is this mixture of: - wet wood - like you're in the forest in a very hot day before a heavy rain. - horse (maybe a zebra;)) - :) I know how this sounds but it really isn't unpleasant - swimming pool - again very odd descripiton but it realy does smell great. I wouldn't describe Kenzo Jungle as a fresh smell. It has some freshness but it's more dense and warm. I think it's suitable for every season. I wear it even in the summer and it suits the weather perfectly. You just smell like a humid jungle and it isn't unpleasen't. It's like you blend in with the heat of the summer. Wearing Kenzo Jungle you smell fresh, woodsy and intriguingly animalistic.

I remember this fragrance being released, but I always like the smell of Jungle Homme but felt it was a bit lightweight. I don't know if it's nostalgia but when I smell it now I get the subtle nuance, Oliver Cresp is wanting to convey. Relaxed, lime opening which is gently spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom, melting into a soft sandalwood musk. It smells exotic and is quietly projecting and lasting well too. Truly stunning. Kinda reminds me of lots of things but is unique at the same time. Maybe Gucci Envy a fragrance from a similar time period, maybe a touch of Lalique Homme and Equis? Something about this is just so 90's. I effectively blind bought as I genuinely couldn't remember what Jungle Homme smelled like and I'm over the moon with it. I really like Kenzo as a brand, even the clothes are cool (despite the hefty pricetag) and the playful and let's face it slightly ridiculous design of the flacon needs a place in my wardrobe. I haven't had a Kenzo fragrance since Homme and that was going way back.

Man, I love this one..for the smell. The top is free will citrus and tall grass and I guess cinnamon..not heavy on the cinnamon but more on the vetiver. The mid is my favorite part where the cumin comes in and gives it that animal funk but it is not stinky funk. Cumin I do not see listed in the ingredients but I say it is there. It has to be. On dry down the cumin lays back a bit and the woods benzoin and vetiver take over and at that point you have another few hours before its a skin scent and shortly gone from there. But what a ride! I really LOVE the way this frag smells and the journey it takes you on. To me, it is worth having in my collection. Unforgettable and unique. The cap...that is kinda cool and original lol. I suppose you can give it a spray and it is its own test strip? Great bottle. Long : 4.5/10 Proj : 4.5/10 Sill : 4.5/10 Scent : 8.5/10 Overall : 7/10

A unique spin on the woody/spicy category- loaded with spices and wood, but softened and tempered so that there are no sharp or spiky edges. It's soft, sweet, warm, creamy and comforting. The lime in the opening surprises me as a unique and lovely counterpart to the warm spices. The woody side has a soft velvet texture and a wood sap type of sweetness. It has my Goldilocks level of presence- consistently noticeable and enjoyable for the wearer over long hours without screaming or assaulting everyone in the room with harsh or brash aromachems. It's soothing and soft on the senses the whole way down, with the far dry down being such a lovely sandalwood. There is also something that makes me sense the creaminess of a freshly opened gardenia blossom without actually smelling like gardenia- I don't know what's accounting for that sensation but I love that aspect.

Glasgow airport, 1998. A woman was promoting this in the duty free section, so I took a spray, then bought 2 bottles straight away. For me, this is one of the holy trinity of my youth. The other 2 being Gph 1 & Envy. And i'm fortunate enough to own all of them today. What can this compare to.... nothing really. It stands apart from anything else I've ever tried. Longevity isn't great, but so what. This one is the old mate you've known for decades who visits you every so often for a couple of hours, we've all moved on and have families and busy lives now, to reminisce about the old days. And when he leaves, you're glad he dropped by, because you're always left in a really good mood. I own multiple back up bottles of this that I'll never get through. But that's ok, knowing they are there is good enough for me.

Kenzo Jungle Homme is a cinnamon forward scent full of warm dry spices, touches of light citrus, grassy hay like maté, and some powdered woods. In the dry down it's a big cup of lemon chai tea served sitting on a bed of creamy woods with the vanilla like aroma of benzoin smoldering nearby. One of the most unique spice based fragrances I've experienced. I'm really digging Jungle, perfect for the colder half of the year and could fit in Spring as well. Personally I just wear it whenever but I know a lot of people like to apply seasonal only wears to fragrances. The bottle has a great shape and a random Zebra motif to go along with the Jungle name, even though Zebras live on the grasslands and savannas of Africa and not in jungles. Maybe a Silverback or Leopard would've been a more fitting choice?

Kenzo’s Jungle Homme is that kind of perfume that I am always ready to highly recommend. At the middle of the last decade it was, for a while, my favorite scent – and I didn’t forget that. Its quality and my nostalgia, combined, drove me to an undoubtedly simple truth: Jungle Homme it’s a very, very good male perfume. It is truly aromatic and very persistent – surprisingly strong for a Japanese fragrance, but equal in nerve with his Elephant feminine version. Those who love Azzaro PH or TdH (among others) know it, I suppose. The simple fact that Kenzo keeps that treasure alive gives me optimism: some good scents will never die, I hope. In my humble opinion, KJH is a 9+/10 fragrance. In other words, it’s a must.

Initially juicy lime, creamy guaiac wood, non-stinky nutmeg and cardamom, and a hint of cinnamon and maté, which is a freshly warm blend that oddly resembles cakes with sweet jam; then it evolves to mostly guaiac wood, sandalwood and amber, which is sweet and rather creamy. After 0.5h or so the strange chemistry on my skin imparts this pleasant juice with metallic notes T.T It's a peculiar (or unique) cologne that's like no other. Unlike the many bottled diabetes for men nowadays that are a dime a dozen, this jungle homme is particularly interesting. Intimate projection and below average longevity. Unfortunately, it's discontinued. It's purported to have been resumed in a hideous bottle.

Jungle Homme opens with a blast of spice. It smells a little sweaty like cumin to me, so I'm surprised that it is not listed in the top notes. After a few minutes though, it fades...but stays spicy. I definitely get the cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom along with some really bright citrus. That spicy citrus floats over a soft, creamy bed of sandalwood and benzoin. That is the best part of this scent, in my opinion. This was launched in the late nineties and it smells like it. Back then, I think designer fragrances took more risks, in an effort to stand out. I miss that. Years later, Jungle Homme is still amazing...dry, musky, beautiful. So distinctive and memorable, I love this stuff.

I tried it out today for the first time with some other perfumes on both my arms (voyage d'hermes, fahrenheit and jaguar vision). The only 2 standing are the jaguar and kenzo jungle. This fragrance started out woody on my arm, very woody and stayed that way for some time. I kept sniffing my forearm again and again as it really started to develop around the 3 hour mark, turning sweet and the woods started to disappear but ever so slowly. The appearance of the sweet base was wonderful, not too strong, not too harsh and thankfully not too sweet. A scent that can be worn by anyone above 20 in my opinion, but definitely good with a lively, mannered personality.

This is unisex in my opinion. Has hyper real spices and loads of them, but somehow not overbearing. I also love Jungle elephant - this has a similar feel, just with the sweetness diled down and heaps of wood. Not getting any citrus unfortunetly, but lots of nutmeg, cinnamon, black pepper and cardamon - basicaly chai spices mixed with wood shavings (not ceder wood though. Also for me, no animalitic notes. Dont get any of the generic cologne notes that sometimes get in the way of me wearing a "guys" scent - although on a guy this would be very masculine. On women I think this is a sexy oriental with an attitude problem. ⛤⛤⛤⛤

This is a really interesting fragrance. On me, it's like they blended all these components and notes to come up with a really musky scent. This is really warm without being cloying, and spicy without being abrasive or harsh. It is unique in that for a spicy scent it does not rely on pepper. Jungle is comforting. It's a wonderful blend of wood and spice and gives me the impression of a richer Lalique Encre Noire original with the vetiver dialed back and amber turned up. Mr. Cresp, most appreciated. Thank you for this beautiful blend that melds with my own scent so smoothly and keeps me relaxed throughout the day. Bravo

Nose Note #274 Great. There's this interesting but somewhat funny sweet aspect about it. I wondered at first what this accord might be. I guess it's the citruses mixed with the typically spicy notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom. There's also something bubble-gummy about it. And I also get the Byredo Gypsy Water comparison. Jungle is more about citruses, Gypsy Water is more about spices. To me Gypsy Water smells like indian workers in Dubai, or just like some indian incense. Really very interesting. Lately I find myself liking the 90s and 00s perfumes much better than the modern stuff. This is great.

Kenzo Jungle Homme is a masterpiece! After hearing about the sad death of Kenzo Takada, I began to look into his fragrances and eventually stumbled upon Kenzo Jungle Homme. As a joke, I describe it to my friends as what a sweaty gorilla would smell like if they smelled good. It almost teleports you into the jungle, but some people have told me I smell like a cinnamon cookie. Not a gourmand fragrance, but I'll take it as a compliment. Longevity and Projection as below average, but nothing can beat the scent for the price (maybe CDNIM but that's a clone). Give this one a shot! It might surprise you:)
