Le Monde Est Beau

What a lovely green citric soapy beauty this is. It starts out with beautiful fresh Basil and citric smell. I have smelt the dna in other fragrances but can not pinpoint where exactly, other than ysl babydoll. This is a late summers afternoon garden fragrance. Imagine sitting on the back porch of your cottage one late afternoon towards the end of summer. It is almost golden hour and you have just showered with ivory soap. You change into a white cotton dress as you sip on your berry iced tea sitting on your wicker chair. You are facing your garden full of herbs, vegetables, berries, wildflowers and your lemon tree. A gentle warm breeze approaches and it carry’s with it the smell of all the fresh herbs you’ve planted, the tomato’s, the lemon tree, the grass, the wildflowers, and of course the cotton sheets hanging on the line to dry. At the same time you get wafts of the ivory soap you used to take your mid day shower after being in the hot sun all day. A smile comes to your face as you wait for the sun to set. The scent is calming, uplifting, clean, green, innocent, and brings the biggest smile to your face. This is so beautiful and induces happiness when smelling it. A perfect spring summer and early fall scent. I adore this. Lasting power is not very long, I would say 4 hours max on skin, and 8 hours on clothing before it becomes too faint. It projects at arms length thorough out the first 2 hours and becomes a skin scent after that. Lovely. I will enjoy this for hopefully a long time as I can never imagine tiring of it. If I could give it a color it would surprisingly be white, even though it is a green fragrance. I adore this

How did the Nose do that? The beginning of the scent makes me smile wide open: it's a green tomato, not mature yet! Absolutely like in reality :D A thick scent with good lasting power, I like it :) P.S. Now I'm reading about the grapefruit in the opening... I definitely detect tomato, 100%, an alpha-female ;) tomato :) The scent is a bit out of date, still makes an impression. Edition: you know, my sample was coming to an end and I thought of buying a bottle. So I have it, it's different than in a photo, I mean it's with a flower cap on one side and the bottle doesn't stand straight, only lays :) Spraying the fragrance from the bottle is funnier than from a sample :D because the bottle looks as if it belonged to a grandma, old vintage style, out-of-date and there's this tomato inside :D makes me smile wide open. Unusual stuff. The fragrance, creamy, spicy, yellow-green-black (blackcurrant and basil!) is somewhat funny. Compared to Ca Sent Beau... Ca Sent is different, more stingy, more green, more creamy and very long lasting while Le Monde... is less serious, less green and has less of sillage. All in all Le Monde... joins my favourites - "love" fragrances. Surprising thing is that those older perfumes can be liked so much! I thought I prefer newer ones but... among my top 5 you can find L'Instant, Kenzo's Le Tigre, VC&A's Birmane...

i'm so torn about it – a blind buy, first one ever. been looking for a basil perfume for a while. smelled the spray head with immediate disappointment: smelled like grandma! maybe the iris. i tried to not let the first association ruin the scent and give it an actual try. a generous spritz it in the air, outside, and the grandma note was gone. became a creamy, citrus and almost sunscreen kinda smell. very summery scent. third try - sprayed it on skin. first time i actually got the basil note, yay! started shaping into a more fresh cut, prolific green smell, though remained citrusy. i understand what others are raving about, it's definitely a good frag, happy and friendly and right after spraying you get a green and floral bombshell. unfortunately i am unable to get the grandma image out of my head. the dry down is powdery to me, a creamy floral somewhat dusty scent. will try liking this. bottle is so so gorgeous EDIT: i have come to really like this perfume! every day i apply it it keeps growing on me. it also gets progressively more herbal and fresh over the course of a couple days. also very much appreciate how it's not sweet at ALL! fresh and sophisticated.

I had this one once, my husband at the time ordered this for me as a gift, requested by me, blind buy... I really loved the fragrance, except that I thought that it was so strong! And I could not deal with that. So I sent it back, thinking something was wrong with it. But I never got the money back, and did not hear from the company... Have been so angry at myself for sending it back, since it was so beautiful after all. Gave me a feeling of beeing in a 60:s movie, like one with Audrey Hepburn: imagine sitting at a cafe’, outdoors, in the city somewhere. I have seen now, that it is available again. So when I have money, I will buy it again, and then stop beeing mad at myself. I guess I will just have to find a way to put it on in the right way, because it is just too good to be without. The scent itself - it is a bit sour, tangy. And with beautiful flowers and then a depth. Not sweet in the way many modern fragrances are. I hate for example Armani Si, Lancome La Vie est Belle, that kind - they are fruity and sweet in a terribly cloying way. But this one IS a beauty.

Such an underrated gem that is still available in discount outlets for a steal, yet feels completely modern for all those green floral fans among us... Le Monde est Beau conveys the name with a happy dewy spicy energetic blend of overgrown garden in the morning, full of foral and vegetal aromas. It could easily pass as niche scent for spring and summer with an excellent stamina though somewhat limited longevity (4-5 h), and bitter-sweet brightness of basil, vetiver, honeysuckle magnolia and blackcurrant leaf. I'd also assume there is a very light touch of galbanum, tomato leaf or angelica in the blend. I fully agree with Austrian_in_Denmark below, it does remind me older YSL In Love Again and Hermes Jardin line in the vibe, but also a bit Eau de Campagne by Sisley though its more balanced with florals and less mossy, touch less vegetal, more bright and fruity. The world feels more beautiful indeed when wearing it...
