Le Monde Est Beau

What a lovely green citric soapy beauty this is. It starts out with beautiful fresh Basil and citric smell. I have smelt the dna in other fragrances but can not pinpoint where exactly, other than ysl babydoll. This is a late summers afternoon garden fragrance. Imagine sitting on the back porch of your cottage one late afternoon towards the end of summer. It is almost golden hour and you have just showered with ivory soap. You change into a white cotton dress as you sip on your berry iced tea sitting on your wicker chair. You are facing your garden full of herbs, vegetables, berries, wildflowers and your lemon tree. A gentle warm breeze approaches and it carry’s with it the smell of all the fresh herbs you’ve planted, the tomato’s, the lemon tree, the grass, the wildflowers, and of course the cotton sheets hanging on the line to dry. At the same time you get wafts of the ivory soap you used to take your mid day shower after being in the hot sun all day. A smile comes to your face as you wait for the sun to set. The scent is calming, uplifting, clean, green, innocent, and brings the biggest smile to your face. This is so beautiful and induces happiness when smelling it. A perfect spring summer and early fall scent. I adore this. Lasting power is not very long, I would say 4 hours max on skin, and 8 hours on clothing before it becomes too faint. It projects at arms length thorough out the first 2 hours and becomes a skin scent after that. Lovely. I will enjoy this for hopefully a long time as I can never imagine tiring of it. If I could give it a color it would surprisingly be white, even though it is a green fragrance. I adore this

How did the Nose do that? The beginning of the scent makes me smile wide open: it's a green tomato, not mature yet! Absolutely like in reality :D A thick scent with good lasting power, I like it :) P.S. Now I'm reading about the grapefruit in the opening... I definitely detect tomato, 100%, an alpha-female ;) tomato :) The scent is a bit out of date, still makes an impression. Edition: you know, my sample was coming to an end and I thought of buying a bottle. So I have it, it's different than in a photo, I mean it's with a flower cap on one side and the bottle doesn't stand straight, only lays :) Spraying the fragrance from the bottle is funnier than from a sample :D because the bottle looks as if it belonged to a grandma, old vintage style, out-of-date and there's this tomato inside :D makes me smile wide open. Unusual stuff. The fragrance, creamy, spicy, yellow-green-black (blackcurrant and basil!) is somewhat funny. Compared to Ca Sent Beau... Ca Sent is different, more stingy, more green, more creamy and very long lasting while Le Monde... is less serious, less green and has less of sillage. All in all Le Monde... joins my favourites - "love" fragrances. Surprising thing is that those older perfumes can be liked so much! I thought I prefer newer ones but... among my top 5 you can find L'Instant, Kenzo's Le Tigre, VC&A's Birmane...

i'm so torn about it – a blind buy, first one ever. been looking for a basil perfume for a while. smelled the spray head with immediate disappointment: smelled like grandma! maybe the iris. i tried to not let the first association ruin the scent and give it an actual try. a generous spritz it in the air, outside, and the grandma note was gone. became a creamy, citrus and almost sunscreen kinda smell. very summery scent. third try - sprayed it on skin. first time i actually got the basil note, yay! started shaping into a more fresh cut, prolific green smell, though remained citrusy. i understand what others are raving about, it's definitely a good frag, happy and friendly and right after spraying you get a green and floral bombshell. unfortunately i am unable to get the grandma image out of my head. the dry down is powdery to me, a creamy floral somewhat dusty scent. will try liking this. bottle is so so gorgeous EDIT: i have come to really like this perfume! every day i apply it it keeps growing on me. it also gets progressively more herbal and fresh over the course of a couple days. also very much appreciate how it's not sweet at ALL! fresh and sophisticated.

I had this one once, my husband at the time ordered this for me as a gift, requested by me, blind buy... I really loved the fragrance, except that I thought that it was so strong! And I could not deal with that. So I sent it back, thinking something was wrong with it. But I never got the money back, and did not hear from the company... Have been so angry at myself for sending it back, since it was so beautiful after all. Gave me a feeling of beeing in a 60:s movie, like one with Audrey Hepburn: imagine sitting at a cafe’, outdoors, in the city somewhere. I have seen now, that it is available again. So when I have money, I will buy it again, and then stop beeing mad at myself. I guess I will just have to find a way to put it on in the right way, because it is just too good to be without. The scent itself - it is a bit sour, tangy. And with beautiful flowers and then a depth. Not sweet in the way many modern fragrances are. I hate for example Armani Si, Lancome La Vie est Belle, that kind - they are fruity and sweet in a terribly cloying way. But this one IS a beauty.

Such an underrated gem that is still available in discount outlets for a steal, yet feels completely modern for all those green floral fans among us... Le Monde est Beau conveys the name with a happy dewy spicy energetic blend of overgrown garden in the morning, full of foral and vegetal aromas. It could easily pass as niche scent for spring and summer with an excellent stamina though somewhat limited longevity (4-5 h), and bitter-sweet brightness of basil, vetiver, honeysuckle magnolia and blackcurrant leaf. I'd also assume there is a very light touch of galbanum, tomato leaf or angelica in the blend. I fully agree with Austrian_in_Denmark below, it does remind me older YSL In Love Again and Hermes Jardin line in the vibe, but also a bit Eau de Campagne by Sisley though its more balanced with florals and less mossy, touch less vegetal, more bright and fruity. The world feels more beautiful indeed when wearing it...

I bought Le Monde Est Beau in the mistaken belief that it was the original Kenzo For Women - which I owned as a child and which was breathtakingly beautiful. Kenzo For Women this is not! But Le Monde Est Beau is over-the-top pretty on its own terms. It gives me a blast of basil, and then I get musk and sweetness, both from flowers and fruit. But it is so well-blended that I can only point out the basil. Le Monde Est Beau reminds me of my beloved In Love Again, but I could not mistake one for the other: Le Monde lacks the rose note or the tomato leaf from the first version of In Love Again. Still, they share the same spirit: subtle sweetness and tartness. Refreshing and perfect for summer. To me Le Monde Est Beau, In Love Again, and Un Jardin Sur Le Toit are the perfumes that most smell of optimism and fresh hope. Only strong in the beginning, but it does stay around for six hours.

I don’t know how I ever could have gotten rid of this beauty, before!! It was such a mistake. I, then, thought it was too strong and headache inducing - but now, it is nothing like that, at all! That time, I sent it back to the company, claiming that something must be wrong, but I never got an answer, or my money back. Maybe I did it the wrong way - nowadays I know better. Anyway, this morning I went to the post office (like maybe twenty years later) and got my new bottle of this. I went before I even had my breakfast, or even a cup of tea. And I eagerly opened my package, and there it was. Opened the bottle and sprayed carefully on my wrists - not too close, so it would project too strong or concentrated, from one spot. And - it is just so lovely. Like a garden, or a park. Or like sitting at a backyard café, in the city, and just indulge. So happy I got it back.

I just love this perfume, it takes me to a green, warm garden buzzing with bees in the early afternoon. Reminds me childhood when I used to hide under an old blackcurrant bush, or sit on the old cherry tree. Looking for snails in the bushes, digging in the ground and eating tomatos straight from the branches, smelling flowers in bloom, irises... I can't help, I just melt when I spray them, I hope they will never stop making this scent, I simply can't live without it as it is my muse by waking up my imagination so much. The smell is bitter on me, that is why I always thought there is grapefruit note in it, I also love the tomato leaf note (basil) the cool iris and the sweetened, a little bit dusty drydown. This is one of the most original and surprising scents I have ever tried.

I am so happy, that I finally get this. It was really long story, I tried it first time for months ago and I could not stop thinking about it, but could not find it anywhere for reasonable price in 50 ml bottle. But finally I get it and really enjoying. It reminds me early summer on Crete, a canyon far from crowds with a great view to the sea horizon. Very optimistic, sunny and calm. Longevity is ok, but I would prefer to smell it longer.

Fresh , crispy , sparkling ! I'm crazy about that darling . Can be easily confused with "Ca sent beau" , not because of the smell (completely different, i dislike "Ca sent beau" ) , but because of the shape of the bottle , be careful not to mistaken ! It can fit almost anyone, from the teen , to the mom , to the active granma ( i mean no pejorative). It makes you on a good mood instantly !

I got it as a gift from my mom on my 16th birthday. At that moment it was perfect for me - light, fruity, but not childish, with a perspective of growing into something more serious. It's not a typical girlish smell, but there's something young and cheerful about it. I still find this perfume amazing. It smells of careless summer.

I bought my first bottle of this perfume when it was launched in 1997 and now, 12 years after, I love it even more. It's a light fruity, and I like to wear it during the spring days. For me, it ́s the best grapefruit-interpretation and I really believe that the world is beautiful when I'm wearing "Le monde est beau"

This is a very nice perfume. It reminds me of tomato plants and grapefruits. This perfume is long lasting. I have been using it in high school and recently I bought it again and I like it as much as I did before. I prefer it better for summer evening, because it is a little to strong for me during the day.

Something about this gem brings me so much nostalgia. Every time I wear this, I feel like I am a kid again playing in my grandparents' garden. I can smell the dewy flowers, dainty fruits, and fresh herbs in the gentle breeze. It feels like innocence and bliss sprouting in the time of purity.

This fragrance is associated with a very beautiful memory for me. I was ten years and traveled around Italy with my mother. She used this fragrance throughout the trip and therefore this reminds me of springtime flowers, beautiful views, the streets of Florence and Venice and happiness

I always buy it for my mom, she uses it from 1998. Adorable crispy blackcurrant and citrus notes develop into slightly powdery cherry blossom and mossy-vetivery base. Light, joyful, slightly sour frag! Must have for light-fruity floral lovers. One of the best Kenzo' creations

The most beautiful fragrance for spring and summer! Greenery and flowers hidden in a beautiful bottle. The composition of the perfume is very harmonious, delicate and expressive at the same time. It's hard to believe that is retro scent from '97! I will use it forever !

Very pleasant, fresh but with body, no sweetness, a bit herbal, a bit fruity. A ‘honest’ scent, whatever that may be. Well blended. I love to experiment with different styles and am all in for variety but this somehow is ‘the one’ that makes me truly happy.

For me this is definately a rainy day scent, not necessarily to ward off a gloomy mood with its citrusy-soft powderyness, but because I somehow feel this is what someone ought to smell like when the weather is wet and cool.

I've never smelled anything like it, this is amazing. Very green, fresh and friendly at the beginning. After say half an hour or so I smelled more of the sandalwood and cassis. YUM!

What a great fragrance. This one is different that Ca Cent est Beau which has juice that is a little darker. Le Monde est Beau is very citrusy fruity with a lovely grapefruit note--although as I wrote that I realized grapefruit is not listed as an ingredient...well, I smell grapefruit. The grapefruit is not too sharp or bitter-it's just lovely and light. As the perfume wears, the fruit gives way to beautiful florals and it all ends with a woodsy dry down. I cannot say enough good things about Kenzo perfumes, particularly the older ones, and this one is no exception. If you enjoy perfumes that are a little off of the beaten path and not one you smell on every other person you encounter, I would suggest giving this one a try. It is particularly lovely and appropriate for the spring and summer.

I bought it on a whim in a perfume shop because it smelled like cut grass and I liked the fresh scent and I was desperate for finding a perfume I could call The One. Actually when I sprayed it on the next day, I couldn't find that crisp, fresh smell wich had seduced me. It is very fruity and sweet, almost tasty. The raspberry and blackcurrant is what stays on me, and I definitely smell litchi (wich doesn't appear to be in the composition though), but I can't find anything else. It smells like a quiet summer afternoon : it's too sweet for my taste, it lacks a hint of hesperides, or green, or something to make it more like a spring morning. So. Still not The One.

The first day I wore this, I found the top notes very tart and sour - almost acidic. I couldn't stand it! The next day I sprayed a little more lightly, and fell in love with the soft, feminine, floral scent that emerged as the day progressed. I couldn't stop inhaling it from my inner wrist. Once I get past the initial shock, the gentle sweetness is gorgeous. Very work appropriate - but I wouldn't waste the romance of this scent on the workplace. I'll be pulling this one out for brunch dates with my boyfriend.

Le Monde Est Beau by Kenzo is a fragrance full of light and happy memories...something I still reach for in summer. It feels like a fresh breeze from the late ’90s or early 2000s, sparkling with notes of blackcurrant and bright berries. There’s a youthful, carefree spirit in it, soft and joyful at the same time. It’s the kind of scent that makes you smile...pure, simple, and beautifully nostalgic.

I love this smell, it was signature scent of my sister forever. Very fresh green mandarins, after opening bit more aromatic, very gentle unique soft fruity floral perfume. It used to be sold in bright yellow box, now after reformulation to fit new standards is in white box with flowers.

At first I thought I would dislike it, as top notes were quite green, but after some time, when middle notes developed, I found it really nice. Fresh, citrus, delicate floral, all that is needed for summer! And the bottle is such a lovely item!

the one I've smelled was a bit raw, sharp in the beginning, floral, I think the word you used, "tart" describes it best. I'm sure the box was the same as in the photo, but I don't know why I remembered it as orange, nevermind :)

From the bottle, smelled like tea to me, iced tea to be exact) Don't know which notes created the smell of tea, but I liked it a lot and want to try it an other time.

It's a lovely fruity fragrance. On my skin, the top notes are very strong: grapfruit and rather citrusy. The description above isnt accurate.

Do people know if an older version (in orange box) is much different from a newer one (in flower box)?

Day of Yellow Flowers, by Tom Lovell 1956 Yellow = pink

I was so excited for this one but so far, I'm a bit disappointed. I was expecting a delightfully bitter and floral garden scent, but this is quite sweet. I get only the basil, then a dry green base that reminds me of the wormwood interpretation by Serge Lutens in L'eau de Armoise. My skin turned that one oddly sweet too... I may hold on to this until summer to see if it performs better, but if anyone is looking for a trade, let me know! You cannot beat how beautiful this bottle is.

This perfume smells of everything that makes my eyes cry and complicates my live in spring... It is very strident, like a big and colourful daisy; the smell of cut daisies in the market is similar to this one: you must be in the mood for it and have good health. I can also smell dust. I understand why some people love it, but I need a little more warmth; it is actually a sad perfume.

Le monde est beau doesn't make my world beautiful. Maybe just okay. I think it's quite floral and the basil note is strong. Quite green and fresh. No sweetness, but the freshness can't be compared to the Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria scents. Light and inoffensive, but I guess, I wouldn't wear it.

I was tempted and bought it unsniffed and I will say that the bottle lived up to my expectations :) The juice, however, I find too light and unimpressive and although I like the initial burst of lemon and herbs, something in it doesn't mesh too well with my body chemistry.

This fragrance it's soooo unique it smells like tomato plants!! feminine, playfull, fresh, green-floral a little tarty it goes with any personality and age. Simply an amazing creation !

Le Monde Est Beau is summer in a bottle for me; a scent with very interesting development, with great delimitation between top, middle and base notes. Not too strong, actually I wish it was stronger, average silage and lasting power, it is nevertheless a very beautiful, calming perfume. The top notes are just stunning, the most beautiful grapefruit you can wish for, but sadly very short lived. Middle notes take over, and the scent turns from fruity into a creamy floral, soft and feminine, reminding me of Style by Jil Sanders. Bottom notes are barely there, but they keep the scent from turning sharp, everything is mellow. I have a decant of this, and wish to add a whole bottle. It's very classy, delicate, simply beautiful. Smells incredibly natural, starting with the fruits on top and continuing with the flowers and woods, there isn't a single note here to be overdone, or to smell "perfumey". Really, I think it captures a summer breeze in it, and summer breeze is the trace it leaves behind when you wear it!

Le Monde Est Beau Kenzo, is my spring / summer option for Dior Dolce Vita. I'm not sure if its just me or if there really are similarities in the two fragrances, as the only notes in common are magnolia blossom and sandalwood. IMO, Le Monde Est Beau possesses that same smooth, creamy, elegance found Dior Dolce Vita, however, Le Monde Est Beau springs it up a touch by adding ( what seems to me ) the perfect little pinch of "wet flower garden" Both fragrances are gorgeous and I love them equally. Dolce Vita for fall and winter and Le Monde Est Beau for spring and summer.

I think that this bottle looks really beautiful and poetic. So I tried it on in a perfumery store not long ago. I think this scent really lives up to it's name beacuse it's very expressive and beautiful. I would describe this as a very beautiful and cheerful fruity floral. It's very well made and not at all cheap smelling like some fruit florals can be. I would picture this scent on a blonde,rather sporty and cheerfull woman who is going to the beach with some friends. For some reason I think of the song Eidelweiss from Sound of Music when I smell this scent xD.

Makes me think of a garden and the month of April. Personality - wise it should have been good for me - as it is not a fragrance for a very driven lady on a high heels. It is the oppostite, cosy laid back vibe with no intention to impress. But yeah, more than a personality match it's about the fragrance itself. For me it induces nausea but I appreciate the fragrance for being creative, non generic thing.

I'm surprised no one else thinks this smells super masculine? And it's way heavier than I thought it would be. Maybe it's the bottle I have or something with my skin chemistry, but it's like the base notes are the top notes and vice versa. Maybe a riper woman can pull this off, but definitely not suitable for young girly me. While I own many Kenzo perfumes I adore (including Ça Sent Beau).

Grapefruit, tomatoes, herbs, beauty, nostalgia. My ability to wear this juice has varied over the years with body chemistry (pregnancy really messed it up) but the first blast out of the bottle is always heartrendingly emotional. I agree with the reviewer who said that it was a "sad" scent. It has the kind of beauty that is inherently fragile.

Definitely for young people... This was one of my favorite fragnance that I was using in my early 20s. I could have used it longer but unfortunately it became unavailable in my country. And in those days it wasn't possible to buy from internet. Farewell beautiful, citrusy, light, fresh and definitely unique smell...

This one is a fresh, slighly tart, very expressive and incredibly unique scent, best for spring and maybe for summer. I don't know exactly which other one you mean: Ca Cent Beau or Kenzo de Kenzo.

It is more of a green sort of fragrance rather than a floral fruit one to my nose! very much reminds me of Vent Vert (old Vent Vert). Roses with green green hay.
