There’s Bianco latte type honey note, and then there’s a darker, deeper, more animalistic honey note. This is not your typical gourmand despite what the notes suggest - but it’s intense and beautiful. I get almost a dark, syrupy molasses feel mixing with a touch of smoke. Very on brand for Kerosene and I’m enjoying this a lot. On the contrary, my husbands skin is picking up some of the saltiness that are turning people off. Definitely not an advisable blind buy :)

I couldn't put my finger on it... but Oloriffic NAILED it. This is a sweet, light apricot with a slightly musky undertone. People who don't like it... I am SO confused. It's incredible. Fruity but complex. My only wish was that it possessed the longevity and sillage of Followed! Highly recommend for the girlies who loved a candy perfume in middle school. This is the grown and sexy way to do fruity and sweet.

An education in what real honey smells like. Not the cloying, artificial stuff that we're all used to smelling in other fragrances. The most photorealistic honey scent I've ever had the privilege of experiencing. This is sweet, addictive, and unique. It would be great if we could all get off the hate bandwagon and form our own opinions. Mine: I absolutely love this, full stop. Sweet, smoky, lovely.

The more I wear this one, the more I love it. HONEY. Real, raw and unapologetic. Something akin to a light floral note. Then pure sugar. Positively addictive.

The smell of a very sexy beekeeper. As soon as you spray this on, you’re slapped, uppercutted, and then punched in the face with animalic, pollen-filled, and a waxy beeswax note. Very potent, overwhelming, and particular. And yet, it’s extremely realistic here. Then, as it dries the burnt caramel vanilla note from “Sweetly known” comes in to accentuate the underlying sweetness of the beeswax, making it much more mass appealing yet very unique. I think the reason this is as lowly rated is because of the truthfully misleading advertising; as in my opinion this is one of the darkest from their catalog. To me, it seems like John took the animalic beeswax note from “Copper skies”, overdosed it, and then added it on top of the smoked/burnt caramel base of “Sweetly known” & recently released “Promises, Promises”. Luckily for him, I’m a sucker for both of those accords, but I would never call this a gourmand. It is smoky, thick, and only ever so slightly sweet. In my opinion this would be a very good statement piece wear, or if you find the note of beeswax to be narcotic like I do. I hope all those who came in with a particular idea of what this smells like and didn’t like it would try it again without any or different expectations. If you like Bee by Zoologist and want it a bit less sweet, check this out. I hope John gets out of his comfort zone with his next one. 9/10. Song vibe - The Midnight Wood by Disasterpeace TLDR - Horribly misleading advertised fragrance that is actually a thorough interpretation of the beeswax note in perfumery, exploring all of its dark nuances and characteristics without leading too far into the ultra sweet, syrupy direction most honey based perfumes go into. Very good, but very different from 98% of honey based perfumes on the market right now. Must try if you like bee.

It's honey, alright—honey with a kick of cayenne pepper. This one works best if I can muster the discipline to keep my arm away from my nose after spraying. The scent is undeniably sinister, yet irresistibly addicting. Its sillage is far-reaching, and the longevity is nothing short of intense. When sprayed on fabric, like a cotton sleeve, I have to launder it to completely remove the scent. Layered with Xerjoff's Lira or a good dupe, it transforms into something akin to a warm lemon and honey hot drink—comforting yet intriguingly complex.

I only smell lightly honeyed tobacco with an airy apricot tea undertone...and some hay...that's it...there is no cake, no vanilla or musk that is discernible. BUT it is a very pleasant scent that's more ethereal than tangible in terms of notes...not sure where this one is going...more of a mood/vibe ...pretty low key all in all, but wish it was a bit stronger or stand out a bit more...

I was hoping this would not be similar or inspired by bianco latte( and it’s not ).This is also not a vanilla cake gourmand. This is similar to sweetly known without the cocoa/ powder . It opens with a raw animalic honey then dries down to a smokey caramel /vanilla . I am looking forward to this aging ! I’ll let it sit until the fall gets here .

Strong gourmand scent. CARAMEL is the top note in this one—rich, buttery, dark caramel layered with dark honey and vanilla. The name makes it sound like a lighter scent, but it feels more like a dark winter scent to me, perfect for the holidays. Deep sweetness.

First impression the opening is not my favorite but the dry down is a pretty summer gourmand. It smells like canned peaches in sugary honey syrup to me. I am curious to see how the bottle develops.

I was terrified to receive this fragrance after reading all the negative reviews on it. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised after it arrived. As stated by another review, this smells exactly like opening a can/jar of peaches soaking in heavy sugared syrup. Unfortunately, to my nose there is zero cake or bakery notes in this fragrance which was what I was looking forward to most. Performance is just OK. Longevity is decent but the scent stays close to the skin after a couple of hours. I am extremely grateful I don't smell the notes of teriyaki sauce like some others have smelt. Definitely not blind buy safe, but I'm overall happy to have it in my collection.

Smells like you just walked into an old vintage shop. Cobwebs in the corners. Dusty wooden cabinets with antiques all about. Slightly musky and moldy. Damp, dark, and musty. Like you are inside an old damp humidor. I get a lot of tobacco, musk, and mildew.

Kerosene with the vanilla scents this year!! In this scent there is no darkness at all. What shines through is honey. Adorned with layers of cake and vanilla. Taste...no, smell and enjoy the goodness.

I’ve realized honey notes are very confusing for me. I like the idea of a honey note, and when I smell them they often times are photorealistic to me (which I love photorealistic scents), but something about them always reminds me of urine. Like someone who doesn’t drink enough water’s urine. Potent smelling urine does have a sort of disgusting sweetness to it and maybe that’s why notes of honey read this way to me? I don’t know. Ochre by Chris rusak does this for me too. I love that smell and I find it very intriguing but it makes me think of urine too much to be able to wear it. Fragrances that repulse and intrigue me always throw me off. I’m labeling this dislike because I think ultimately this is not a smell I identify with, but “dislike” also feels a bit too harsh. If I could put it between dislike and okay I think I would.

Update: I wrote a preliminary review right after I got this (not a fan). It's been sitting in a drawer for a little over a month and I took it out to take pictures so I can sell it. Decided I'd spray once more on the back of my hand, just to remind myself that I hate it. On the first spray, it was a big yuck again. But 20 min later? It actually dried down kind of nice! I'm getting a little vanilla now, which I didn't a month ago. It's balancing out the strong honey and musk. Maybe it'll mature over time into something beautiful. Worth a try.

It just arrived today, so I'll certainly give it some more time and amend this if warranted. But so far, this is not for me. On my skin, it's 90% syrupy honey with maybe a little smoky caramel. I'm not getting any vanilla at all. It's not creamy or rich. I can sort of see the orange juice/honey and teriyaki comparisons mentioned below, but I probably wouldn't have detected those scents if I hadn't already seen them mentioned here. If you love honey, then give it a shot! If you love vanilla, stick with Promises, Promises.

Ugh this isn't a banger. The musk on my skin reminds me of sweet pine and clove. I get a sting of cayenne and honey like chiropractic office. Def just sample before purchase. Maybe it will get better and more honey. The dry down is more honey. After 3 hrs it becomes a burnt Carmel and balsamic note. Going through the first 2 hrs is harsh. Only for winter never for office.

I’m going to also write a preliminary review. My first sprays of this were intense (read: it hurt my feelings). Was this “cake” as advertised? Absolutely not. There is nothing resembling cake as you think in a fragrance. I was less offended by my second try. Probably because I knew what to expect. I find this a very animalic honey and sense something almost like nutmeg? I can definitely see the teriyaki and orange references as well. This is just absolutely not at all what I would have expected from the notes given. This is the first time that I’ve been truly disappointed from this house. See my other reviews. Please note, I LOVE honey in fragrances. This is just odd to me right now, and not in a creative, eccentric way. Update: I had the opportunity to open a beehive today. This is absolutely THAT smell. It is photorealistic beehive - propolis, wax, pollen, honey, heat. I’m having a moment of clarity for this fragrance. (The marketing is still wildly and disappointingly misleading)

would never have expected this scent association, but this smells like mexican tamarind candy to me! sharp, sour, smoky, a touch sweet, & a bit spicy big fan of other kerosene scents (sweetly known, summer of 84, promises promises, etc) but this was a scrubber for me unfortunately; i always found those tamarind candies to be gross and do not want to smell like one either i do enjoy honey notes in scents like bee by ellis brooklyn & scandal by jpg, but this read very differently to me didn't get anything vanillic, definitely nothing cakelike either, but i will note that my skin never seems to amp sweet notes, which is unfortunate as a gourmand lover

I think Kerosene has been handing out one disappointment after another. Promises was a broken promise and there's zero honey in this one. It smells dirty, sweaty, smokey with rotting fruits with a gorgeous white flower. I don't understand how they managed to bring forth a full bodied gardenia with the rest of the garbage. Extremely disappointed and just won't be sampling any new releases.

This is by far the worst perfume I have ever bought. I love most Kerosene but this is so freaking bad. I had to scrub it off the second I put it on. I don't get any of the notes listed. It absolutely smells like some kind of tangy meat marinade. It is so bad.. I put it up for sale within 2 minutes of being on my skin.. Please sample before you buy this one..

This is the only fragrance I’ve bought that I can’t say anything good about. I thought from the notes, how could this go wrong? Well, those bees must have stuck their stingers into something awful! Whew! I tried giving it away, no takers. Yes, it lasts forever ( I guess that’s a nice thing to say) scrubbing doesn’t help.

This smells like the inside of a taxidermied animal or a jar of ancient urine found in a mummy's sarcophagus. Nothing about this fragrance is ok. I am shocked and alarmed that Kerosene, notorious for beautiful intense gourmands, deemed this fit for release.

Absolutely awful. Not a safe blind buy. My niece said it smelled like hot sauce and I could see it. I've never smelled something so bad with these notes.

This one is interesting. Definitely not a fluffy cake gourmand scent. If this smells like cake, I think it probably smells like a dark walnut raisin cake they'd make in pioneer days with only honey for sweetener. There's something very rich, almost boozy about this to my nose, and a little bit ambery astringent and bitter. It is very honey-forward, but a dark, bittersweet honey. I do get a bit of creamy vanilla in the dry down, but it's still far from a traditional sweet gourmand. Not something I'd wear every day, but a little bit nostalgic and wintery. Even if it's not quite a head over heels love for me, John Pegg always intrigues me with these creations!

One thing about kerosene is they don’t play about their Gourmands , I’ve sampled a few of their scents and never had the opportunity to get a full bottle but without sampling I might need to just get a FB of this those notes look yummy and kerosene doesn’t use anything synthetic smelling all notes are QUALITY 👌 💋 from the notes I’m guessing this might smell a bit like Bianco latte OR That Girl Viral Vanilla ? Either way this combo of notes are my fav . I’ve smelled a frag w honey before and was actually put off by it , maybe it’s cus it was honey heavy and not blended well ? Anyway, now I can’t get enough ❤️

This is one you need to wait for the drydown, where it becomes a sweet syrupy honey fragrance. The opening, as another reviewer mentioned, smells like teriyaki marinade. I'm having a hard time getting past the opening. Hopefully it will change with time and maturation.

I raw animalic pungent Honey opening with a slight amberic caramel hint floating within that dries into a niche twix bar. Applying a few extra sprays of this fragrance will sting at first but transform into a unique gourmand.

On my husband, it was beautiful. BUUUUTTTT on me and in the air, it smells like stale cat piss. Buy a decant before you buy a bottle. Best to test before investing in a full size.

smells like sour dried fruit to me for the first hour idk, like ur breath would if u ate preserved apricots. but then dries down into smth actually sweet and wearable.

I loveee honey fragrances and thought this would be an easy love . It’s not gourmand AT ALL . This is very harsh and smoky. Definitely sample before buying
