Shiyaaka Shadow

There is a lot of noise online about this fragrance, and to be honest, a lot of it is just straight-up snobbery. If you look at the reviews, you’ll see a massive divide between the people actually wearing it and the "fragrance elite" who dismiss anything from a Middle Eastern house just because it doesn't have a $160 designer price tag. To those snobs, if it isn’t in a fancy boutique box, it’s "cheap" or "synthetic" by default. They’ll spray it once, catch that initial alcohol blast from a fresh bottle, and immediately run to the forums to call it trash or weak. They don't give the juice a fair chance, they don't give it a full wearing, and they definitely don't let the bottle sit and macerate. There’s also that natural counter-culture that wants to hate on anything that blows up on TikTok just because it’s popular. But the reality is, this is a nice fragrance that you can easily pull 8 to 10 hours from if you actually know how to use it. Mine was good straight out of the box, and as it matured over a couple of weeks and months, it just kept getting better and better. I found Shiyaaka Shadow at a rack store for around $40. Since I’m a huge fan of Shiyaaka Snow, I was curious. My wife ended up grabbing it for me, and after comparing it to my bottle of Bad Boy Cobalt, the difference was clear. It’s incredibly close to the original DNA, but it has a specific twist that makes it feel more playful, youthful, and energetic. While the original can feel a bit linear and "serious," Shiyaaka Shadow adds a vibrancy—it almost feels like a "remix" that has more life and pop to it. I’ve heard people claim Bad Boy Cobalt doesn't last, but that hasn't been my experience. Most people say it doesn't last because they don't know how to spray; they spray around their neck and right under their nose, so they go nose-blind and think the scent is gone. Both of these fragrances give me a solid 6 to 8 hours on skin, and sometimes even longer. It really depends on your skin chemistry, staying hydrated, and whether you use lotion to help it stick. If you spray your clothes, they both stay on until the next day. And if you ever feel like you need more projection, the fix is simple: just spray more. When you look at the math, paying $155 for the designer name doesn't make sense when you can get this for $35 to $45. I don’t hate Carolina Herrera it’s a very nice scent but I honestly prefer Shiyaaka Shadow because that playful twist and energetic profile just fit my style better. I liked it so much that I actually sold my bottle of Bad Boy Cobalt. It was just the better option for me.

Okay, so just got it. AND IT FRICKING SMELLS LIKE BADBOY COBALT ELECTRIQUE, I ain't lying y'all. I got the decant, and it FRICKIN smells the same in the middle. So, the scent is super nice and addictive. It's Fresh, Fruity, aromatic. In the opening, I get that citrus, and slowly became the sweet fruity plum smell. And it smells super close to BadBoy Cobalt Electrique in the middle, but Shadow is just smells more sweet in the Plum. For the longetivity and Sillage, still on the test. Probably I will tell you guys about the longetivity. Overall rating for the scent? 9/10 Edit: So, after testing the longetivity. I sprayed it at 2.30Pm, at 4.00pm or more. I was cleaning the front of my house, washing stuff. And, my hand got washed wit water many times, and the smell is still strong. At 9.46pm, or Now. I can still smell it, but it's already at Skin Scent, almost gone. So, average 7 hours on my skin, but I bet if it didn't got washed by some water. Will be at 8-9Hours on my skin. For the Longetivity? 8/10, but for the price? 9/10. For the Sillage, quite strong in the 1 hour, I get whiffs of these although my hand was far enough from my face. And it became moderate-strong at 2 hours, still get some whiffs. And became low-moderate at 3 hour mark. The rest is Skin Scent. 8/10 for the Sillage. Last edit: So, after like 14 hours. Now at 4.59, I was kinda bored and tried to sniff my hand. Before, I already thinked that the Scent will already be gone. Surprisingly, i can still sniff the scent. I don't know why, all of my perfumes are so long lasting on my skin lol, ngl. So, It last on me for 14 hours Indoor. Damn, that's beast mode. 10/10 for the longetivity. I can still smell the Clean, musky, earthy base. And I know it, because it smells different from my other hand, that doesn't have a fragrance on it.

Khadlaj Shiyaaka Shadow opens with a balanced sweet-tart citrus supported by a darker plum note that immediately gives the fragrance its identity. Rather than feeling juicy, the sweetness has a syrupy texture, with the plum adding depth and a distinctly darker character without becoming overly sweet. Faint woody and earthy facets are already present, giving the fragrance a smooth, well-blended foundation from the start. As the fragrance develops, the citrus gradually fades and the plum becomes the clear focal point. Peppery facets emerge alongside subtle aromatic edges, while a deep, dry woody backbone grows more noticeable. The fragrance evolves into a plum-forward composition where the fruit remains the centerpiece, supported by dry woods and restrained spice rather than bright freshness. The drydown continues this direction with very little change. The plum stays integrated into the woody base while the woods remain dry without becoming crisp. A slight warmth gradually develops underneath, and a sharper musk appears in the later hours, giving the fragrance a bit of renewed presence before it fades. The overall texture remains smooth, dry, and surprisingly dense for such a restrained composition. Overall, this is a unique take on a blue fragrance. The plum gives it an identity that separates it from more traditional blue scents, while its restrained sweetness and darker character make it feel more mature. Everything smells smooth, well blended, and high quality, with nothing coming across as cheap or unpleasant. I would have liked a bit more projection, but for what it’s trying to accomplish, it’s a very enjoyable cooler-weather leaning blue fragrance. Score: 8.5/10

I picked this up around the end of July after hearing it was inspired by Bad Boy Cobalt. I have a mini splash of Cobalt edp and a sample of the elixir, and honestly, this feels like a perfect blend of the two. It opens up almost identical to Cobalt edp that fresh, slightly sweet vibe but the dry down is much earthier, leaning more toward what you get with Cobalt Elixir. Even though plum isn’t listed in the official note breakdown, I definitely pick up a plum-like vibe in there. It adds a nice richness that gives the scent more depth. As for performance, for those influencers saying it outlasts the edp, they’re spot on. It’s an extrait, so the stronger longevity is expected. Out of the box, I’m getting around 7-8 solid hours before it settles into a skin scent. Unlike Island Dreams by Khadlaj which is also an extrait but I find the performance lacking for now. It’s a very mass-appealing fragrance. I’ve had multiple coworkers in the office compliment it, and even a few at a summer camp I help out with. Definitely one of those scents that gets noticed in a good way. EDIT I am wearing my mini splash of edp on one arm, a spray from my sample of elixir on like my bicep and shiyaaka shadow on the other arm, shadow is right in the middle of the 2, and I still can't believe plum isn't listed in the notes above. The opening of Shadow and edp are like 90 percent similar. The earthiness from the elixir really comes through in the dry down in a good way. Scent 8.5/10 (if your a fan of cobalt you will love this) Performance 10/10 (you couldn't ask for more from a 40 dollar extrait) Price 7/10 (cobalt is getting cheaper on discounters that's the only reason)

Man I wanted to dislike this. The snob in me delayed even sampling it because why would I, The Snob be so brainless and dumb to buy a Bad Boy Cobalt clone? Well it's an obsession of mine to try as many fragrances as fiscally (ir)responsible . So I got it cheap, 30 bucks. First off, fk Snobbery. Yes this DNA is a dumb reach mass appeal central . So what!? It's good. Very Good! Fresh, Sweet with some ambery/green muskiness down low. Simple and synthetic. Smells like a pop soda used to drink when I was a kid. Easy to wear, easy to like. There's a place for snobs to have a frag like that. Easy wears are awesome and give the brain a break from being a tool and going out your way to smell like one too, I know...I am that guy sometimes. If you want something that can go over 4 seasons, be a jack of all trades and be inoffensive and likeable, for the price of Lunch out this would be one of my top recommendations. 8.7/10

I bought this at Burlington and here is my take on it. 1) Goes down the blue path, opens citrus with some pepper, similar to Cobalt or even Bleu de Chanel. 2) As it dries down to me the plumb stands out, this is its own thing, last in the mid about 30 minutes to an hour. 3) finally in the dry down it’s kind of got a Sauvage thing going on because the pink pepper hangs in there and there is that noticeable smell similar to Sauvage So for longevity solid 8+hours scent trail and silage is there especially in the first few hours is it a beast, maybe not but in the beginning you will fill and area. The sprayer is pressurized and puts out the juice the bottle slightly cheesy but not awful. But it is one of the better pressurized sprayers in my collection. This is a more mature scent and will probably get knocked by the under 30 crowd. But if you are 40+ it’s worthy of a blind buy

Closer to Cobalt Elixir than Cobalt. Definitely somewhere in the middle. I own Cobalt and love it. I was in the final stages of depleting a decant of Cobalt Elixir when I saw that Shadow was being released, and that it was rumored to be a Cobalt Elixir inspiration. Wearing the two side by side, they are very, very close. Shadow has that darker, more earthy feel of the Elixir. It is worth noting, that the Cobalt elixir still shares a considerable amount with the EDP. Really, if you like that one, you'll love this. The Cobalt EDP is a bit brighter and more effervescent. Noticeably so when you spray them on side-by-side. I paid about $40 for Shadow, and I am not at all disappointed. Smells great and performs really well straight out of the box. Edit: Noting no plums or truffles, and the absence of those in the note breakdown are, to me, the noticeable omissions

REALLY similar to Armaf Odyssey Aqua. It’s that close. Owning two of them will be redundant. I just bought Armaf and this at short time period. I blind buy this and its eerily close to Odyssey Aqua. The DNA is either Bad Boy Cobalt or Invictus Platinum. Surprisingly similar to its designer counterparts. Fresh woody out of the shower type of fragrance. Good for daily drive and office wear, as this is an inoffensive scent. Again, get this or Odyssey Aqua (whichever cheaper) as its really similar in 90% ish range. The only different is that Shiyaaka Shadow has a more “oceanic” and “salty” dry down—at least on my skin. Edit: I notice there is a faint raw egg smell in the dry down. I have read several review and they also have notice it. I don’t know whether this is a bad batch or else.

This stuff rocks! I didn't think much of it when I first got it, and I ended up trading it. However it was on sale with Shiyaaka Snow for too good of a deal to pass up, and I'm glad I didn't. So this has been sitting for months this time before I used it, and it smells so much better than I remember. It's definitely in the blue scent category. Meaning it smells kind of like a nice shower gel. I've tried a lot more fragrances since I had this last, and now I can definitely smell the resemblance to the Invictus line. It reminds me of Victorioso Myth from Maison Alhambra. Actually it kind of also reminds me of Gucci Guilty for some reason(the vibe). It's not nearly as sweet as say Hawas it's much more spicy, lavender heavy, and fresh. Excellent fragrance for any situation or season.

Wonderful fragrance! Heavily reminds me of Bad Boy Cobalt by Carolina Herrera and Invictus Platinum by Paco Rabanne. The scent is very fresh and masculine, making it super easy to wear at any time for many different occasions. I found it lasts on my clothes for about 7 hours and projects moderately for the first 2 or so hours. My bottle may need further maturation but so far I am content with the scent profile and performance. Shiyaaka Shadow is definitely one of Khadlaj's better releases and is certainly worth giving a chance. Before you do, though, I suggest giving Odyssey Aqua by Armaf a smell to see how it compares to Shiyaaka Shadow. Depending on your preferences, you may end up choosing based off of the performance or progression of either fragrance.

Just an amazing modern fougère amalgamation. It combines familiar notes from Aventus, Bleu de Chanel, and Sauvage, but blends them into something extremely easy to wear. It’s very non-offensive, so some people might find it a little lacking in complexity. But this is a true dumb reach. Very fresh. Very clean. Very shower-gel-like. I really like the moss and patchouli here. They give it more depth and keep the freshness from feeling too basic. You can dress this up or down. It’s very adaptable. If I didn’t have a large collection, this would be an amazing fragrance to own. Even with over 100 bottles, I still wear it at least once a week. 9/10

Wow this scent is so good wth, I did not expect that. It smells like a bright shower gel and has a nice bright sweetness, it has an invigorating opening, feels like designer, no harshness at all, really beautiful perfume. Does is smell niche / complex / very unique and special ? No, but why does every perfume need to ? Sometimes you just want to know that you smell good, you smell fresh, you smell clean and like a million bucks. Really happy with this blind buy, highly recommend . BTW, dude below has to be trolling, how the hell does it smell like a grandpa haha unless said grandpa is in his 20's or 30's

First things First, there is no cashmere here, and they forgot to include the plum and the truffle ( taken straight from the box). Beyond the plum, which doesnt seem to be a major player, more a supporting role, I'm not sure what I'm smelling, but it is an addictive, fresh scent. Whenever I get a waft of it, the word that comes to mind is " pleasant". So pleasing. It seems to last, and as I haven't received a compliment yet, I can't speak of the sillage. But this is completely blind buy safe. A playful scent. Yes, you can dress it up, but it would suit casual just as well. This is a good one..go for it!

This is a cheaper alternative to Bad Boy Cobalt PE. I would say it’s about 90% close alright. But for me I would just stick with Bad Boy if you’re eyeing this one. The quality on this one is a little synthetic compared to Bad boy but to the average nose they’ll say it’s the same shit. The difference I noticed it doesn’t have the earthy dry down which I do like. I would save a little more and get the OG tbh. This a good fragrance but for $45 idk Bad boy is like $80 on discounters or cheaper. I’ll use Shadow more to not waste the BB juice. 7.5/10 for me since I like the scent profile.

When I tried the original Bad Boy, I wasn't impressed and may have unfairly written off the line because I own the entire Shiyaaka line, rate it quite highly, and yet Shadow is my favorite...so I must really like the Bad Boy Cobalt Electrique DNA. It's addictive! There's a lot going on from the peppery citrus plummy open onwards, but the biggest thing for me is this complex cedar and lavender shower gel heart that then manages to balance a clean blue feeling with earthy truffle patchouli in the base.

Wearing it right now, just 2 sprays on my arm and 5hours in and it's still going strong, to me it smells like a unique freshness that's hard to describe, definitely will get a full bottle of super good!! ( impressed by it's longevity because I sprayed it and walked for 12k steps, and it's still as strong when I first sprayed it, could be that the bottle in the shop has maturated or that other bs) 3 hours later- still like how it was, good longevity mid protection:)

This reminds me of Club de Nuit Urban Man Elixir but more refined and with the addition of the pink pepper/lavender notes and less after shave scent. Very pleasant masculine scent. Glad I decided to pick it up from Burlington for $35. Actually now that I've wore it a few times I noticed that this is also similar to Afnan 9pm Night Out with the fruity plum scent instead of dragon fruit. But it is weaker than Night Out or Urban Man Elixir and stays an intimate scent.

I wore this to school today and I could say as someone who lives in a hot and humid weather, this fragrance projects really well in the first 5-6 hours but it really depends on how you apply it. I even got complimented by a classmate. This fragrance is suitable for school and I would recommend to overspray it a bit so it will project like how you want it to. Overall its a really good cheap fragrance for a broke student like me. 10/10 safe blind buy

This shit is straight fire, its a super smooth blend which is both fruity and earthy. Youthful but definitely office friendly, you could wear this anywhere and itd be a great daily driver. Smooth enough that its hard to pick out any individual notes but I do get some plum as others have mentioned as well as a great citrus opening. Becomes earthier as it dries. Never smelled this in a locker room and its not a generic scent at all

The grapefruit citrus scent initially is juicy and smells so good. It then settles into a nice mossy/woodsy scent with a little spice coming from that pepper. I initially got the profile closer to a Paco Rabanne Phantom personally, it was what it reminded me of, but I also haven’t had Bad Boy before. Settled on to the skin nicely and had great performance for the price. Bottle design is great. Really solid.
