Santal Sky

I’m wearing this right now to bed and will reapply tomorrow morning. The milky sandalwood is doing all the work in this one and some saffron. The vetiver and cardamom is there but in only in the background and counterbalancing the milky smoothness parts of it and bringing more of the dry woody aspects of the sandalwood. It gives this the pencil shaving feeling but not actually smelling like pencil shavings, just dry wood with green and spice. It has that posh nyc upper east side feeling to this that people talk about in Le Labo’s sandalwood fragrance. It’s not a projection monster, at least I don’t really smell it on myself when I go out of my house with this on. It lingers alittle but in the morning after I sleep so idk how to assess its performance. But this is a high quality smelling fragrance that’s very easy on my nose so it works for any occasion, especially wearing it to sleep. It’s one of those ones where you wear to feel light beautiful and happy, like a spring or citrus fragrance and it’s scent that you specifically love and don’t care about performance etc.. It’s woody but airy too. There’s really no development, it’s linear with only like 4 notes used. Bottom line is that it’s not beastly but lasts just fine, it’s about the woody/milky/spicy scent that you wanna wear for either for your day or night sleep.

Review update: So after finishing my sample I ordered a bottle of this amazing juice, as a lover of Santal fragrances I had to get it! But I found my bottle to be less long lasting than my sample? I remember my jacket smelling like Santal sky for days and even when I put my shirts into the wash I could smell them on the collar of my shirt. Don't get me wrong my bottle still has very good longevity and projection but no way as nuclear as my sample. a bit odd to be honest. the projection is very good though, I have had several people say they loved it and others who didn't enjoy the scent. So it's definitely polarizing. In comparison to Santal 33. Santal sky is less spicy and not sweet like Santal 33. I mainly get that clean saffron and sandalwood combo which is absolutely amazing! Santal Sky is by no means a clone of Santal 33, so if you are looking for a dupe this is not it. but it has definitely been inspired by Santal 33, they are much similar in the dry down than in the opening.

Alanitoo, Cherry_Darling, Fumeheader you are spot on in my opinion. Nothing more to add except perhaps that it doesn't really smell like Le Labo 33 to me but is is a nice cousin. It's not as bright as 33 but, true to its own story about refreshing the soul, relaxing in the heart of NYC, its got a smooth, mysterious vibe. It's intense but not in a loud way, if that makes sense. Circling back also to say that after giving it a good wearing with the Discovery Set (which I recommend, too. great value) this impressed me so much I couldn't resist getting a full sized bottle. Such a great value. This will be one of my weekend signature scents until it goes viral, probably. What's nice about this brand is it delivers all the benefits of a niche $$$ brand without pinching my wallet. I don't feel like I have to reserve it for going out and enjoy it liberally, even just hanging out around the house for myself.

Oh wow, Santal Sky is a love for sure. I mainly get Saffron, Sandalwood, and a cucumbery note It's a great combination. It smells clean and sophisticated and definitely unisex, this is right in the middle so it can work on men and women. It gets compared to the other "Santal" genre of fragrances, which it isn't shocking since this one is also a sandalwood based fragrance. But Santal sky is only $78 compared to Le Labo's $189, So it's a great price compared to the other santal fragrances. I also appreciate the company's ethos of sustainability and cruelty-free status, I wish designer brands followed that concept as well. The longevity is nuclear, easily 24+ hours, overall I'm very pleased with Santal Sky, bottle-worthy for sure!

I am in love with this fragrance. The cardamon and saffron make this sandalwood fragrance very different from anything I've tried before. It's both an intense scent and soft impression. It smells very much like the scent of peace and tranquility as I imagine it. The vetiver is present but not overbearing and the dry down has a soft floral note to it that I cannot grasp. It projects about 10-11 hours but even the next day I can smell the memory of it on my skin- leaving me with the feeling of being wrapped in my boyfriends sheets. Comfort.

Reminds me of Tom Ford Santal Blush meets Serge Lutens Santal Majuscule yet its sophisticated blend has an even more intense projection with a gender-neutral woody scent meshed with saffron and vetiver. Make any sense? Well, all I can say then is it is transportive. Soon as I sniff it in I feel my third eye activating. Hmmm. Cool bottle. I think this fragrance transcends gender- has an intense softness/woodiness and yet is not overly masculine or feminine. A perfect balance. Hope they Come out with a candle soon.

A perfectly balanced work of art. The composition of this one is shown to be linear, but you can clearly sense that sandalwood calms down after 10 minutes and becomes a soothing, warm scent. That's probably because of vetiver and cardamom. A clean blend of sandalwood, absolutely unisex. Saffron is barely noticeable here, which I believe is just enough. It would be an absolute masterpiece if a warm coffee note is added to this composition. Try it and you'll thank me later. Well done Kierin. Thumbs up

A safe and comforting autumnal scent. It's made for cuddles with your love one. Well-balanced and evocative of a cashmere sweater!

Really nice sandalwood based scent. I get the same dill from Santal 33, but this is definitely not as strong as pickle brine. Dries down into a nice woody base and smells of high quality. I feel this is very comparable to Le Labo's release, but a lot more wearable for me. Very nice if you are looking for a less expensive substitute that still smells absolutely amazing and will easily last 8+ hours. This one is so good, I am going to have a hard time finding my favorite from the sampler pack... EDIT: Concluding that this is my favorite from the 4. I LOVE the vetiver dry down. I can still smell this 24 hours after putting it on, really nice!

Very interesting! Initially, it literally smelt like some apothecary thing, then like sweetened cucumber - and then woah! Divine wood with well blended cardamom. A warm clean scent with a charm. It's very long lasting on skin and on clothes.

Santal Sky is another creamy, lactonic sandalwood scent which wasn’t really needed on the market to be honest. Sandalwood at the forefront with hints of sweet saffron and aromatic vetiver, it’s not a very interesting scent profile but it’s pleasant enough. This has the same sharp pickled feel of Santal 33 which many brands seem to have copied in the past few years, Santal 33 is a fragrance that I love and so I actually enjoy this aspect of the scent. It’s then got this strong creamy, milky facet which feels reminiscent to VC&A Santal Blanc, it smooths everything out nicely. Overall this is a pleasant scent, it’s nice to wear but fairly boring and forgettable in my opinion. I would much rather just stick with Santal 33.

Yeah, I probably don't need to review this one since I have little of substance to add. This is just an excessively synthetic dupe of Santal 33. I've never liked the Le Labo, and I like this even less. This brand emphasizes the use of sustainably sourced, natural ingredients, yet most of their scents are essentially cashmeran and Iso-E bombs. This feels screechy from start to finish. It almost feels like a combination of expensive hairspray and fresh lumber. Which suggests it could be a Comme des Garcons scent, but their creations are much more inventive and charming than Santal Sky.

oh, how I wanted to love them! there is so much good stuff happening and i was so excited about cardamom... unfortunately - on my skin it turns into sour kraut and brings back childhood memories of shopping at a local market with my mum where you could get your sour kraut straight form a big, wooden barrel. Sentimental as it is - I am glad i only got a sample, not a full bottle.

Starts off with a dry seaweed, almost marine accord. Not a huge fan of it. As it dries down, it starts to get its woody character like the name implies, however by this point it starts to fade away more close to the skin. Not a fan, which is a shame as I love the rest of this brand's offerings!

This was a blind buy and I wasn't disappointed. I find it fresh, cucumbery and woody at the same time. Kinda sexy and definitely unisex. It's sandalwood, but a young, modern sandalwood. The longevity is great. I can smell it on my clothes for days.

Santal 33 but less woody. This is slightly more moistly sinister.

One of my best discoveries of the past couple of years. I have gone through 2 travel sizes and countless samples and I think it's time I buy a bottle. I have been getting more and more into unisex fragrances in the past two years, as well as fragrances which are considered leaning towards male (I am a woman). I have wanted to wear more of both but I really to be careful to pick the right ones, I tried on myself many of my boyfriend's fragrances but many of them just didn't work with my skin. During the pandemic, I had to change jobs and for a little while I worked in a male dominated department. I also had to dress very smart back then. This is when this stunning scent came to play - and it was so perfect. Wearing it while also wearing a crisp, freshly pressed white shirt made me feel powerful and a little dapper. But also, I didn't want to smell like a bouquet of flowers when working with guys. Anyways, perfume has no gender and this is perfect case in point. I do get the pickled gherkin vibes from this but I do rather enjoy the dill aquatic goodness. Airy, aquatic scents don't typically work well with my skin so I am glad this one did! Besides the pickle juice notes, I also get the smell of film. Film being developed, to be precise. My dad is an X-ray technician and when I used to go to primary school in the nineties, I would sometimes go to see him at work at the hospital on the way from school. Back then, medical Xray were still manually developed (it's all digital now) and I remember the smell of the solutions used to make those pictures. It must be the saffron notes in the perfume but I love how it takes me back. I don't really get the vetiver from this (odd, considered it's one of my favourite notes of all time) but the sandalwood is just so so pleasant! This fragrance is a little woody in the nicest possible way. It doesn't make sense but it's warm and cold/dry at the same time. Just beautiful - but do get a sample first if you're not into smell of pickle water or film being developed ;-)

I’m a big fan of Sandalwood fragrances and woody fragrances in general so when I heard this was similar to Santal 33 I instantly blind bought with confidence. I have never owned Santal 33 but have heard so much about it and remember enjoying the scent a couple of times when I sprayed a tester. Okay, in layman’s terms, this fragrance is definitely fresher than Santal 33, dare I say, nicer. The Vetiver gives it a nice touch of green and opens it up like when you take in a deep breath on a fresh summers walk in the woods. After it settles down it becomes a creamier, milky Sandalwood scent which I absolutely love. Does it smell like Santal 33? Yes, but with more brightness and more crowd friendliness. So if you want a more 'safe' version of Santal 33 then this maybe for you. Longevity and sillage are good, for me anyway. I’d say it projects well for about 3/4 hours before becoming quite a close skin scent. I’ve layered it with Molecule 01 and also applied it on top of some unscented moisturiser which I think prolongs it a tad longer. I've only ever used it during hot weather with about 3 - 4 sprays max. All in all... Scent - 10/10 Longevity 8/10 Sillage 6/10

I ordered the sample set last year and immediately fell in love with Nitro Noir, not giving the others a fighting chance. I ran across my set this morning and decided to try the other three that were sadly overlooked before. Santal Sky was my first choice because of seeing it compared many times to Santal 33 and Maison Louis Marie #4. After spraying and testing for the first 15 minutes or so, I can see the comparison to both, but then it takes a completely different turn on my skin. I am so intrigued with this one, where the other two stay pretty linear on me. Santal Sky has to have some kind of pepper note that isn't listed. This seems to go super peppery, woody, warm and earthy on me. Thankfully I am not getting any powder note listed in the pyramid because my skin amplifies it and I am NOT a fan of powder. I have been searching for a peppery fragrance and I think this might just be the one!! I am drawn to unisex, woody, peppery, earthy fragrances and I can't believe it was sitting in my house for a year and I didn't even know.

It's definitely not an exact clone of Santal 33, although in the air it does come across very similar. At the opening and up close in the drydown, I get a very sharp sandalwood/saffron that reminds me of Atelier Cologne's Santal Carmin. It's nice, though if anything it gets points off for lack of originality. If you're looking for a Santal 33 alternative, this definitely comes close to the original. If you're looking for Santal 33 clone for about half the price, Maison Louis Marie's Bois de Balincourt is identical, at least to my nose.
