Portal

Kingdom Scotland perfumes are totally unique. I think they're very sophisticated, well balanced and they just smell like good perfume. Portal is quite unisex to my nose, it has an intriguing scenty vetiver sillage - not raw vetiver, but one dressed in soft green harmonies thanks to pine, citrus and - whatever else is in this! Like all the Kingdom Scotland perfumes it's fairly abstract - definitely green, but more than the sum of its parts. The notes aren't obvious and as mentioned it smells like a good perfume - French and quite abstract. Having said that, the mood is contemporary - green and refreshing, but with proper foresty depth. My neice who's in her twenties likes it because it reminds her of magical forests in Tolkein stories! If you want straight conifer scent try Luten's Fille en Aiguilles or similar, Portal is definitely more subtle. Lovely for summer, or a nice choice for winter if you want to smell evergreen!

Picked up a sample from the wonderful Les Senteurs boutique in London. This is a beautiful, fresh, natural smelling scent. Okay it's herbal but its soft. Mint isn't noted but I pick it up (mint tea?). This could be worn all year round and in most situations but Portal reminds me of spring, or the point where spring becomes summer, mild/cool becomes warm. Projection is moderate but I think thats the point. This is really classy, subtle, may even push out GIT as my spring favourite. I need to save up as 50ml retails for £120, but this really may be worth it. Update, I now have a FB, bought on slight discount. Gorgeous stuff. 4.5/5 Further update: like MFK's Petit Matin, with subtle green/mint notes added.

Being from the US, I consider myself pretty lucky to have been able to purchase this perfume as Kingdom Scotland does not currently ship here. I was able to order this beauty from Harrods and boy, oh, boy, I'm so glad I did. This is a lovely unisex perfume. It's soft and fresh, but I find that it has good longevity. The smell does remind me of hiking in Scotland. It invokes green and nature along with some floral elements. I wear it to work sometimes and have received compliments. I hope Kingdom Scotland has plans to ship to the US because I'm dying to try the others from the house.
