Deus

I fell in love with this perfume at first sniff. Its giving elegant but edgy energy at the same time. For me, the composition has very harmonizing effect on me (patchouli and incense is present but in a very decent way so it does not bother people who are sensitive). When I first tried wearing it, it was in Andalusia, in the streets of Sacromonte in Granada and it completely captured the essence of the place. Since then I got obsessed and purchased the whole bottle. It also nicely blends with Lord of misrule Lush spray I wear on my clothes. The fragrance itself is very versatile but it radiates beautifully on warm days under direct sun. It is not overly strong but when applied consciously I can smell it throughout the day.

Sophisticated masculine scent. I don't mind to wear it (as a woman), because of pure lavender note and delicious, nutty spiciness. Patchouli just pokes out the leaves at the edge and adds a soft green akcent. It is sensual, well-balanced and creamy sandalwood with peppery note is provocative. Actually, one of the Kintsugi best. --- Projection is strong, longevity 5-6 hrs. I'd wear it during autumn-winter season.

Starts out woody, resinous, and clean. I little spicy and a touch of patchouli. The lavender gives it a clean, slightly soapy quality, which isn't for everyone but I love it. Over time, it shifts from woody to a bit powdery. This started off as a like, then to a love the longer it sat on my skin. Beautiful. Adding to my wishlist. Quality, complex, and also very wearable, as I found all of Kintsugi's perfumes.

After purchasing two full bottles and wearing Deus as my signature fragrance for two years, I am sharing my experience. I originally discovered Deus through their discovery package, and the scent gradually grew on me. However, as I write this review, I’ve decided to part ways with it. Deus has moderate to strong sillage and lasts around six hours on my skin. If I apply it in the morning, the scent is mostly gone by the evening. To me, Deus smells very peppery, woody, and spicy, with no trace of sweetness. While it’s marketed as unisex, I think it might be challenging for a woman to pull off. In terms of wearability, Deus is quite flexible. If applied sparingly, it works well in professional settings. It’s also a good choice for daily wear and could be suitable for dates or clubbing. However, for louder occasions, I’d opt for something more prominent. Deus isn’t a major compliment-puller, but it’s generally well-received. In two years, only one person openly disliked it. Many, including myself, associate it with church-like incense, which lends it a slightly “holy” or sacred feel. At approximately 140 euros for a 50ml bottle of Eau de Parfum in 2024, Deus is quite expensive for what it offers. If you don’t fall in love with the fragrance, I wouldn’t recommend it based on price alone.

This perfume is so interesting. I think the name has a strong connection to the scent, as it smells like an old temple somewhere in India, filled with the smoke of incense, old wooden floors, and burning herbs. The cedarwood note is especially prominent, but after a while it settled on my skin as a wooden smoke scent, reminiscent of burning a candle in a church. On my friend, it smelled much more citrusy, which was probably the ginger note. I love this perfume as a story, although I probably wouldn't wear it because it's much more masculine than the scents I would wear. A beautiful creation, albeit not a safe buy at all, especially without trying on your own skin. I don't even know what kind of person would wear this.
