Nostalgia

I'm still very new in the perfume scene but I want to share my experience. Opening on paper blotter is, as everyone mentioned here, a burnt rubber smell with a hint of freshly tanned leather (slightly chemical), and a spicy peppery note. I think the pepper note was from the anis but tamed by the leather notes so it was not fully a conventional anis smell. After a few hours, the smell (on the blotter) dried down to more aged and warm leather. The burnt rubber subsided a bit (but still very noticeable) and merged with the anis note which brought out a cool cinnamon note. This stage stayed very long until after a few days when it gradually sweetened. The rose was very subtle but noticeable (more on the blotter than on skin, which I will comment on later). The tonka was not distinct and was mostly there to sweeten and enhance the leather and anis. These three are complimentary notes, in my opinion. The Nagarmotha here is almost invisible but I think it's responsible for letting the initial burnt smell transition into a more positively smoky woody smell. I think Nostalgia performs mega well on my skin. And I trust it so much now after a month of surviving on my little decant. I think it's a very strongly leather perfume with small amount of spice. My skin rebalances those leather notes and naturally sweetens it, meanwhile working with the anis and rose to bring out the cinnamon. My friend said that I became a cinnamon bun. Partially true but this is more of a diet cinnamon bun. The sweetness is not of sugar but of spice and is not cloying to the nose, which is why I really love it. The initial burnt smell fades really fast on my skin and becomes quite subtlely smoky! (but not BBQ or bacon!) and smoke is also one of my favorite notes too. On a normal day, I spray once on my wrist and smear it around my neck and that gives me enough happiness throughout the day. It is subtle enough to be a skin scent and if caught by someone, they immediately pick out the cinnamon, leather and smoke and it's such a quietly edgy combo but cosy and addictive in a way too. On special occasions, I do 3 sprays - wrist, neck and on my clothes (aiming 20cm away). Even with 3 sprays, it does not become offensive. I really love this perfume. It is edgy, smart, elegant, and cosy at the same time. ~*

Gorgeous scent. I am particular about leather notes in fragrance because it can be so harsh. This is stunning, a soft suede mellowed with tonka and has gorgeous depth of spice. Complex while remaining incredibly wearing. if it wasn’t the middle of summer right now I would have purchased a full bottle on the spot. It’s stunning but definitely better suited for fall and winter. I will be getting a bottle when the weather changes.

I completely adore Nostalgia. It is equal parts softness and strength. If I could attempt to pin down this scent, I would describe it as a leathery cinnamon bun. While the anise sparkles in the opening, it becomes more subdued over the course of time. The projection is moderate but easily lasts 8+ hours on me. If you ever get the chance to put your nose to Nostalgia, do it!

Once I smelled this I couldn't get enough... Such a good blend of leather – warm, slightly spicy, smooth. Great projection and longevity as well. I've smelled other leather scents like Bibliotheque and didn't love them... but this... I love this.

reminds me so much of cherry punk, but instead of the cherry accord, it's replaced with almost a honey-like sweetness. Very nice dry down, giving me a nostalgic feeling for a memory that doesn't exist.

This is a very interesting take on leather. It feels hard to pin down. A bit green. A bit animal like. A touch of warmth and spice. It brings to mind the smell of a centuries old leather shop, with a hint of sun scorched roses in the windowsill. As a woman, I'm always on the hunt for a leather scent, but they often feel sharp and go overboard with patchouli, incense, or musk. Nostalgia doesn't go overboard with everything. There is something so intriguing and intoxicating about this one. Conceptually, it transports me in a way that D.S. & Durga's bowmaker's does. Feel very evocative of a place seeped in tradition. I think this scent is unisex, but I also enjoy a lot of notes that frequently get flagged as masculine.

A bit of a nauseating fragrance on first whiff. I’m getting a strong plastic chemical smell that overlays a more smooth, sweet, floral, leather, with some brightness weaved in. It’s like I’m sitting next to a guy wearing a mass produced leather cologne in a new car with faux leather seats with the windows rolled down, a generic air freshener swinging on the rear view while he’s burning rubber doing donuts. I keep sniffing it to figure out all that I’m smelling as it’s interesting, but I also am getting a headache from it. I don’t think I’d ever buy this but am curious to revisit my sample to see if it changes for me later down the road.

I was drawn to this perfume at first sniff. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was that attracted me. After spraying it on my skin, I realized that this smells like drying asphalt, smog, burnt tires. Nostalgia indeed, the scents of my childhood (is that weird?). However, this fragrance soon became overwhelming. It certainly projects and is quite strong. I made the mistake of going running after applying this and the scent was almost nauseating in this context. But now that it's gone I kind of miss it.
