White Afgano, call it that too! A great pity for the performances, for a very honest perfume in terms of idea and price. I see it as the opposite of the Black Afgano (broadly speaking of course) if in the nasomatto we have resins and smoky scents (of ** smoked **), here we have a green flowering hemp field still humid in the morning; it does not taste of dry grass tops, but of shrub plants. Very linear and simple (in a good way), fresh fragrance, like a white linen shirt.

THE SCENT OF A BEATLES SONG At first glance, an Amsterdam Coffee Shop may seem like just an ordinary café or bar. In reality, more than one unwary visitor - my wife, for example - has been caught off guard by one of these friendly and apparently harmless "coffee" establishments. In these cafés, the sale and consumption of soft drugs such as marijuana is legal. Most of these coffee shops don't even sell alcoholic beverages. Surprisingly, although it is legal to smoke marijuana and hashish, tobacco cigarettes are not allowed. The consumption and sale of so-called ‘hard drugs’ is also not permitted. Marijuana can be consumed in a variety of ways like smoked in hookahs or drunk in the form of tea. Cup cakes and other confectionery made with cannabis can also be found. Although the smoke and aroma characteristic of marijuana are unavoidable, it is possible to walk into a café and not consume any light drugs, either in the usual way or disguised in a comforting tea or an appetising muffin. You can simply walk in, sit down and have a coffee or any other drink without any traces of marijuana. I think that the law - both Dutch law and the law of any other country - is silent on perfumes that contain or smell of cannabis. At least that's my belief. The perfume industry has made several perfumes (all of which are still available on the market) containing cannabis reasonably well known. Well... at least they smell like cannabis. Possible examples could be ‘Black Afgano’ by Nasomatto, ‘Mugler Cologne’ by Thierry Mugler, ‘Cannabis’ or ‘Cannabis Fruttata’ by Bois 1920, ‘Florabotanica’ by Balenciaga, ‘Replica - Music Festival’ by Maison Margiela and ‘Club Men’ by Azzaro - to name but a few fragrances. But today I wanted to draw your attention to what I call my ‘White Afghan’, a green, smoky perfume with a very obvious name... ‘Marijuana by Kolmaz. Marijuana (the raw product) considts in the dried leaves and flowers of the cannabis plant. In my opinion, this perfume can be classified as a green scent, or even as a fougère. Its smell can be described as piney, slightly smoky, and slightly skunky as in a dirty and sour grass scent. Kolmaz Marijuana opens with accords of herbs and fougères, just a little bit more bitter and sour than traditional green aromas. It has the power to wake a nose that is "asleep". The scent develops with earthy and leathery accords, to finally fall asleep adding a slightly resinous and musky dryness. Longevity and silage are above average and it is advisable that you don't overspray. The scent may be a bit intrusive if you do so. The global impression I get from this scent is of a very "natural" one. That happens either because my nose deals with natural essential aromas of herbs, fougères and leather, but also because I don't get a glimpse of synthetic added ingredients. The odd outcome I get from it is that during the dry down it develops, on a side, a sweet accord that I associate with people who consume marijuana frequently. None of the development stages is unpleasant and Kolmaz Marijuana is far from being a linear fragrance. I could even add that it is sometimes an unpredictable fragrance. I cannot help associating this perfume with the ambiance scent found in the Amsterdam coffee shops. Older guys like me may even associate it to the Beatles era and to the familiar scents of places Carnaby Street or Wardour Street in London Soho. The simple fact of being able to spray "the scent" of some Beatles tunes, makes this perfume purchase already worthy. What about rating the mist of this "marijuana joint"? ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ - Opening: 7.0 (green, herbal, just a bit smoky, somewhat sour and pungent, but very lively scent) - Drydown: 8.0 (leathery, smoky, ambery, earthy, and musky) - Longevity: 8.5 (up to 9 hours with 3 sprays; it may develop a faint skin scent that lasts an entire day) - Silage: 8.0 (up to 6 ~ 7 feet with 3 sprays; projection close to 2.5 hours) - Exclusivity: 9.0 (not many perfumes give you this natural scent of marijuana) - Usability: 7.5 (winter, late autumn, and early spring, preferably during the day) - Versatility: 7.0 (It's green, and it has a free spirit connotation. It reveals itself better on non-formal occasions) - Praise: 6.5 (I should say that it arouses curiosity rather than praise, except within a 70's hippie community of course) - Quality: 10.0 (very high-quality ingredients) - Presentation: 8.0 (simple, effective, and totally in line with the scent) - Price: 7.0 (100 ml/45 Euros, more expensive than any other Kolmaz) ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ - Overall rating: 7.86 / 10.00 - between 7 and 8 = above average; - between 8 and 9 = recommended; - greater than 9 = don't hesitate; MY RECOMMENDATION: Kolmaz Marijuana is not an ordinary perfume. Some people don't even consider it as a perfume. It's a scent that you may just like or leave it. But in my case it surely brings back some very happy memories, calling back places, friends, and music that seem more vivid when wearing this fragrance. Blind purshasingg? No way, try it first! Today I'd like to introduce you to Marijuana, which is another Kolmaz's scent together with Chameleon, Canabis, and Arabi Cana that I have in my collection and I already reviewed. I've been attracted by its name, just curious to know how would strain smell like. Of course, the scent is produced legally and there is no THC in there. As the name suggests, the perfume is fairly addictive. It wears a long lasting fragrance which is to linger on for hours. Marijuana is beautiful. It is ascetic, dark, deep, dry, sour, resinous with a strong bitter aromatic sensation. Yes, a sensation, because it is not really part of the notes description. After it all settled, I immediately had this impression of a compromise between Arabi Cana and Ferrari Essence Leather. It has a strong opoponax and bitter herbs quality. Provided that I've never smoked any derivative strain of cannabis, the scent opens with a strong smell of leafy and shady notes, there are no citrus features, it is all about black and aromatic lavender leaves and other things that create a herbaceous and fern aura. The overall opening is sour and opulent, there are sparks of artichoke, the distinct bitter and pungent flavor you get when you bite and artichoke leaf, and something that reminds me of rhubarb. The raw and strong leather accord is ready to explode and announce itself in the background. As the scent develops you get leather, leather, and again leather, the soothing scent of old leather. It is earthy, rough, with a few shades of wet woods and amber accords. To love this cologne you must be fond of leather in any of its shapes, the smooth, the raw, the dull, the musky, and the tanned one. And the heart reveals the earthy aspect of the cannabis. Here I get an earthy and leafy note that I am not acquainted and I have never met in any other scent I own, hence I surmise but I am not sure it could be the strain. The scent smells that ways for a while, it takes time to enter into the dry down phase, which releases a bittersweet amber trail with a touch of powdery notes, allegedly from vanilla, opoponax resin or some artificial mossy accord. It is not a baby powder talc smell, slightly it has a velvety and animalic dusty accord. My overall impression is good, Marijuana is a green, earthy and resinous cannabis, not as smoky as Arabi Cana, at least the ashtray facet is not present. It does not project too far and the sillage is moderate, however, the longevity is above the average, all day long I would hazard to say. I recommend wearing this drug during the day in wet and cold seasons, late fall, early spring, and all winter are the best times. I see both young and mature men wearing it, at the office, and during leisure weekend, nonetheless, women who dare might wear it as well. I wish I would not get addicted to Marijuana since the more I smell it the more I fall in love with it.

There's not much to this. On opening there's an initial unpleasant smell of ashtrays. This quickly dies down and you're left with a smoky, slightly myrhh like aroma. And yes, I'm also picking up some leather under that earthy smoke. It's not an undesirable aroma, and it does have you constantly sniffing trying to place tantalising whiffs of something herbal, but it's just too flat. I don't dislike it, but I can't see myself wearing it that often. Sillage and longevity are moderate.
