Rose Oud

This is absolutely gorgeous! I will be bluntly honest: Korloff is not a house I regarded highly. To me, it was a low-tier designer house. Never owned one of their releases but wanted Korloff for men EDT for a while. That was my opinion of the house until I smelled the Mémoire collection, & Rose Oud in particular! Ignore the notes, Rose Oud is an enchanting song of rose and leather. Tender, night-blooming, soft rose with a skin-soft, charming leather accord. The castoreum adds a musky, natural, clean skin-like feel. The combination is softened and very lightly spiced with saffron, which adds a beautiful Arabian character to it, & the myrtle gives it the lightest of green herbal touches, barely managing to freshen up the scent. Soft, rosey, leathery, musky, lightly-woody, mildly-herbal, charming, calm, almost-melancholic. I believe the soft & intimate leather accord here is a mixture of castoreum, styrax, & oud. The castoreum is not animalic nor fecal, and the oud is not very prominent. The oud seems to exist only to add some woody depth & support that oriental vibe saffron initiated. The scent is neither medicinal nor animalic in any capacity. Rose Oud is a such a gorgeous fragrance. Wintery, almost grey, yet very intimate. It is so romantic & cozy, yet can be very sexual & pheromone-like. The fragrance it reminds of the most is Bvlgari Eau Parfumée au Thé Noir Intense. The difference, compared side-by-side, is The Noir Intense is more green, while Rose Oud is woodier & more Arabic in style. Rose Oud could've easily been a flanker of The Noire. This is an amazing cool weather, date night fragrance. It suits men more but can be worn by a mature, confident woman. It is a shame it retails at ~$250. Hopefully we see it at better prices at discounters. It has been a while since a fragrance knocked me olfactively like Rose Oud did.. .."Love"

Thorn Rose. Rose? Where are you? You left us just the thorns. This fragrance is different to the typical Rose Oud scents. This smell as said like thorns, like burned wood. Bitter smell, quite dry, tonic, refreshing, weird. Captivating in some way. A lot of natural oud, myrtle, dark woods. That's it. Original, but not so perfume, more an odour.

Classic Arabic rose-oud combo, but here is not screechy nor agressive, nicely blended. And @Kreed is on point, it does give a Blue Jeans vibe in an Arabic way.

Smells so good, reminds me of Versace - Blue Jeans, but this is more modern and without vanilla. I think I might get a bottle.
