Royal Oud Intense

#808 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I decided to blind buy six fragrances from the Korloff line based on their ratings here. Royal Oud and Royal Oud Intense were the first to arrive yesterday and I immediately compared the two and reviewed Royal Oud yesterday. I realized the notes listed on the pages for each were identical, but my nose told me that wasn't so, so I looked around for manufacturer's listings, and the notes descriptions are in fact the same. But the scents are nevertheless distinctly different with the Intense having a brighter character that I normally associate with the presence of a sharp citrus like grapefruit, lemon, or bergamot. Nothing like that is listed in the notes, but I see from the reviews that I am not the only one to notice. Like Royal Oud, this "Intense" version is a brilliant blind buy for me. Again the rose is not dominant, which my Western tastes prefer, and the oud is not animalic and "barnyard" as so many are. This is smooth, comfortable, inoffensive, and for an inexpensive fragrance this comes off smelling like a premium scent. I think it's versatile and safe for any wear and environment and certain to draw notice and compliments. All day longevity and excellent projection. I don't think you can go wrong with this.

Smells luxury and addictive! It's mild. All my favorite notes in here - rose, oud, amber, sandal,.... Reminds me of some soap (Palmolive/Lux) but can't figure it out exactly.

Bought this last month. Really good sillage and longevity. The scent is really sharp at first but on the dry down, it mellows out. The oud is really strong too, hence not for everyone. My parents loved it though.

Absolutely gorgeous, smoky and INCREDIBLE value for your money! As many say below, the oud does have quite a sharp opening in the beginning, but that mellows out quite quickly to leave behind a perfect balance of smoky, sweetness and spice. The oud will make itself known so you should like the oud note, but wear it with confidence! It's definitely a fall/winter favorite for me. Also, because I can't stress this enough- it is INCREDIBLE bang for your buck! You wouldn't guess it just from reading the notes, but it's a pretty good dupe for Cuir Garamante by MDCI (although slightly less complex than MDCI), which is about 5 times the price, and it performs as well as any mainstream oud out there. Great blend, great projection and longevity, 10/10. Would HIGHLY recommend.

I wanted a rose/oud mix and I think I found the one for me. Korloff Royal Oud Intense is a well-composed, smooth fragrance - the oud isn't dirty but you obviously should like oud to wear it. The pretty rose and amber are full-bodied but no note outdoes the others. I get a little incense and vanilla in the background, keeping it the tiniest bit sweet and I've layered it with Solinotes Vanilla and Tonka, both of which create whole new scents. Longevity and sillage are moderate and I would wear it in cooler weather. This was a blind buy for me and not too expensive, so if you are looking for a lower-priced (I paid under $35) decent rose-oud combination, I think this would do. As always, I'd get a sample first if possible.

No matter how I try I cannot seem to find an oud fragrance that brings me joy. With all the notes in the concoction I hoped it would be more than just another heavy handed, matronly smelling rose oud. Well, that is exactly what this is. Even when I try to tone it down. and balance it out by layering it with patchouli or vanilla musk for added interest it still singularly screams OOOOOOUUUD!!!! Will definitely last All Day Long! If you like a strong, old school "feminine" oud this is going to be for you. Nice matte glass bottle. Cheap plastic cap. Reasonably Priced. For me, though, a Very Hard Pass!

I'm not exactly driven by compliments, but this is definitely my big dawg compliment getter. I really don't understand what is so unisex about it. There's a mild powderiness, but that doesn't even nudge it into the pink. Women have blushed complimenting this and men have asked me where to get it. The bottle is nice. The packaging is beautiful too. You'll feel like a million bucks without over spraying, only doubling its already insane value. I've smelled a lot of ouds and KROI remains my favorite. I will always have a bottle.

Amazing smooth oud and rose when you first spray, when it dries down it leaves this powdery floral oud on your skin. Projects very well, lasts long, perfect for special occasions, weddings, date nights, anniversaries. Makes me feel like a rich arab dude bringing roses for his wife.

Just classical rose oud. I would say it's smoother and more wearable version of Black Aoud Montale.
