Silver Wood

Private Silver Wood is one of those I've had on a 'maybe' wish list for ages and I spotted it while looking through said wish list for a new year scent to try out. Looking online I noticed it is becoming more scarce so I decided to grab it quick. DOH! Why did I wait so long - this is fabulous. Mature, yes. Deep and woody - yes.....so might stop it from having universal mass-appeal but having said that I immediately recognized the parallels with other scents but at the same time appreciated the standalone character that PSW still manages to accomplish. Please excuse my blunt interpretation of the scent but for me - and this is just my own personal opinion - it is indeed as if Chopard Oud Malaki was blended with Costume National Homme and ends up producing something akin to Penhaligon's The Blazing Mr Sam - with a twist. I love all of the scents mentioned so of course I was almost certainly going to enjoy PSW but I didn't expect to like it quite so much as I do, to the point where I'm considering it as a replacement for the others. Sacre Bleu - what am I saying. 🤯 Oh and I forgot to mention the Fig note - divine. Similar Fig vibes to Tom Ford for Men Extreme - another favourite of mine. OMG - blind buy champion! 👌

100% certified greatness! This is the prime example that you dont have to spend a milion dollars to have a great quality and long lasting scent. Who would of ever thought.. exelent !

I think this supposed to be the dupe of The One EDP... it's very similar, but a bit more masculine

A hidden gem perhaps? Heavy on the cardamom, rosewood and cinnamon. Fig only lasts in the opening. Quite similar to Oud wood but this is super cozy and warm.

Bulgari man DNA is all I get. Spicy and woody

Similar Scent intense Costume National

Nose Note #659 Gris Charnel meets Red Tobacco meets Lattafa Mohra. Red Tobacco with no oily tobacco. Gris Charnel but with a citrus undertone. Mohra, but less spicy. The fig can smell like a berry or sometimes like a pickle. Very strong. The second wearing was decisive. First I thought that it was really nice. On second try my mind changed. It's a complex and ambiguous scent. Something about it feels too much for me just like some fragrances from Mancera and Montale do. It actually smells like Mancera. I have similar experience with another Korloff - No Ordinary Man. It also somehow gives me similar vibes as Montale Oud Tobacco does. Be careful with the amount of sprays. Don't spray close to your face. 6/10, not my cup of tea

#878 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Except for the slight bergamot edge of the Lalique this is pretty similar to Lalique's "Oriental Zinc." I like this okay, but I prefer the citrus hint of the Oriental Zinc. But this is wearable for a figgy scent, which are not my favorites, and nicer as the fig fades out. Good performance. Definitely makes it to lunch and it projects. Don't overspray if you car pool as the initial figginess is probably going to annoy anyone not a fan of the note. I probably wouldn't wear this to the office unless I layered it with a citrus freshie like Missoni "Wave" to brighten it up. It's okay for fans of the Fig Newton. It was a blind buy for me, cheap, but I won't buy it again.

Figs with spices could perhaps have been good. But it ́s also pungent which I believe comes from the wood. Don ́t like it.

Ah, another victim of the top notes’ curse. The beginning is promising, interesting and (I quote from Korloff) tantalizing. The spicy trio of nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom make the fig so smokin’ hot that I am tempted to lick my burnt hand. Then rather quick it becomes all milky synthetic something on me. Still nice, but the promise the top gave me fell flat. For those who would love to smell what rosewood is all about, then try any of the Etro that list it as a note. It’s their specialty. Back to Silver? Wood? apart from the wrong naming convention this is a pretty fair scent. ***(**)

A warmy spicy aromatic fragrance wth a strong woody undertone. I definitely get the reference to Costume National Homme: the main difference is the woody note.

It is a great substitute to Amouage Journey for Men, especially in the fragrance base.
