Black Sugar Oriental Lily Violet

A beautiful gift from my friend Magdalena arrived just now. This natural (free of fixatives and phthalate solvents, bonus!) fragrance smells warm, sweet, gourmande yet with a very subtly oriental base of coumarin and rosemary leaf extract which are not listed here, giving a lovely grounding to the previous sugary notes. I'm waiting to smell the violet, to see where it fits into this mix and how its delicate yet strong scent (which I think often has the ability to totally transform anything it touches into something quite different from any linear composition) transforms this at all. Ah, yup, there it is, swirling amongst the caramel, very reminiscent (to my nose) of Lolita Lempicka but Lolita without the berries and licorice. Thank you, Magdalena! ❤️

Another great dupe for Prada Candy. I initially wasnt sure if I wanted to buy it since most of the listed perfumes were sold in Greece or too expensive under Sephora but I lucked out and manage to find one for a reasonable price. I detected the sweet black sugar mixed in with the powdery notes of the violet and the well known syrupy heaviness of the caramel. To my surprise, I knew I smelled the benzoin and funny enough, it was listed in Korres description. This isnt as long lasting as Prada but it is that good scent that I dont mind spending. Notes: Oriental Lily, Black Sugar, Violet, Benzoin, Vanilla, Caramel, Amber.

If you love Prada's Candy this is very much the same but certainly seems to be a stronger version. I think Candy is one of the greats, but on me , disappears within minutes. It just doesn't last and I can't justify spending the money on something so light. I blind bought Black Sugar based on the reviews here, so a big THANK YOU to everyone who compared the two. If you love Candy, you will love Black Sugar. This is the second great scent I've purchased from Korres, the other being the now discontinued Pure Cotton, which was a great Infusion D'Iris substitute.

This is warm and beautiful scent. The sugar is not sticky sweet, it's more like burnt sugar. The lily note is soft and not too sharp. Vanilla is also soft and delicious. There is something smoky on this like benzoin or incence. That note is very prominent. Comforting and warm at least now in the cold weather.

This is so beautiful. It is similar to Candy but yeah, better. Maybe it’s slightly more powdery and doesn’t have the celery scent that Candy does. I really love it.

I think it’s gorgeous. It also vanishes almost instantly. It’s super disappointing, I don’t know if I’ve ever experienced a vanishing act like this before - not even Prada candy l’eau, which is notably weak. I got this perfume and the matching lotion for 35 dollars though, so I’m not devastated. It’s a small bottle so it’s pretty easy to carry around if you want to reapply. Just wish I didn’t have to, and so often!

To be clear, I bought this purely for the Candy comparison. They have a lot on common and I love both in their own right, but I'd advice you to be mindful of the overall tone; to me Candy is definitely warm while this one is very cool to me. Candy sort of matches its bottle while I'd describe BSOLV as a soft, calming lavender or periwinkle. The biggest overlap is probably in the tender powderiness.

Yes it’s similar to Prada Candy but to me it’s not as good. There’s a note in here (that’s not in PC) that bothers me - must be the lily. I was hoping this would be better than Prada Candy because Prada Candy does not last long but I would rather reapply Candy than wear this. I can say that this lasts quite well on clothes. I could smell it on my shirt a few days later.

I really like this. Powdery yummy lily. It works well in winter/fall and lasts a moderately long time. It's also really good for work, as people who react badly to scents don't seem to be affected by this natural one.

I don't know what it is but I get a sour smell. And something is kinda harsh and hurts my brain. Think I will try again in summer and if I still don't like it I will be swapping this

Soft, a bit sweeter for my tastes but I used to get compliments when I was wearing it. When I first used it, my aunt said “oh,this fragrance cheers me up”! Very good for its price.

This is a pleasant smell, however, it smells a lot like the majority of female deodorants that are on the market. Sample the smell and you will see what I'm talking about.. Doesn't make it a bad smell, but I just think you could save your money by spraying extra deodorant on yourself and get the same effect. I wouldn't recommend buying this perfume for that reason.

This is my first scentual from Korres , I have and use their body butter sets ~ I love the Japanese Rose . So I had to try this since reading reviews . A " blind buy " I purchased it with the body butter and it arrived about 5 days ago . Since I have recently bought several blind buys , I decided to spritz this one , being a bit nervous , I'm not a real lover of " lily " { stinks on me } being a predominate note , it just does not go well with my chemistry , period . Well , that is just wrong , a " joke on me " . True I guess it depends on the other notes , how much lily synthetic or real is in formula .This is extremely light weight , not too sweet , but a wonderful warm blend . I do not get individual notes , it is like they combined so well you just get the " payoff " . I do get a floral with a new take on lily , it might be because it is " Asian lily ". I do get a " hint " of violet and sweet mix of a vanilla / caramel blend . This is a summer / spring for sure , I think fall / winter would swallow this up and it'll be lost to the wind . I'm glad I saw reviews on this , I thank those that posted . I might just have to try a few more of these sets . Edit : A few hours of wear it's 7 : 23 am here , just three hours and I can no longer get I have this on , there is a slight scent where I spritzed on wrists , it's barely there at ta'll . I'm disappointed some what , but maybe once I spritz 4~6 times maybe it'll last longer . I'm not unhappy I purchased , not one bit , but overall these might not be for me unless I try first , then come back to purchase , not a blind buy for this style of scent .

I agree that this smells like Candy, BUT, there's a depth and a nice subtle church incense vibe here that, to me, makes this oddly more sophisticated. I don't get why people are writing this off as "not sweet enough", do you want this be saccharine? It's plenty sweet enough without being screechy. I adore gourmands, but this is such a lovely change from just plain vanilla and sugar. I adore the spicy lily note that hovers in the background as it smells like the inside of a Greek Orthodox church. I have the shower gel in this fragrance and it leaves behind a beautiful, subtle aroma in the bath. I actually own Prada Candy, and one of my biggest frustrations with that scent is that they bumped up the iris note over the years to make it more office friendly, so it ends up smelling a bit like Infusion d'Iris laced with caramel. Black Sugar has that little bit of "edge" I didn't realize I was looking for.

I write this review just to say I'm disappointed that this wasn't a sweet caramel-black sugar scent. I've been looking to replace Warm Vanilla Sugar but I keep running into these dupes that smell nothing like what I hope them to be. Nothing to do with caramel or black sugar; this is a sweet iris (aka Prada Candy) which frankly, I'm getting tired of smelling precisely because without intention, I keep bumping into her. If you're looking to replace Candy or want something cheaper than Iris de Syracuse(another Candy dupe), this is a safe bet. The longevity is similar. Can't say if the depth is warmer or better than the original Candy, but for the price-wise, this is fairly reasonable for a 50 fl oz.

My goodness miss mills, you are so spot on about lolita minus the berries and licorice!!! That similar muskiness or whatever that smokey note is. That vibe is also present in L'Instant Magic which gives a slight powdery note. Korres has a fine resemblance to Prada Candy - one of the best similarities to another fragrance or as a dupe. Stays for so long on my skin though sillage is minimal. Makes a lovely skin scent and it is natural which is the plus point! Thanks to a dear fragrantican :) x

This is quite pretty. I’m surprised that no one has mentioned that this has a slight hairspray quality. I mean a fabulous expensive hairspray. I’m not sure which note is responsible. I get the same quality from Prada Candy Kiss. I wore it to bed and could smell it all night. I think I prefer Vanilla Freesia Lychee but this is a happy blind buy that I can enjoy in all seasons. Might try it in my hair!

I have been wearing this perfume for a while now and I love it. It resembles Prada Candy yes, but it's more smoother, more milky... I get so many compliments! It's all natural too. My first bottle it's almost finished, I already ordered another one! It's lovely, it's stays on all day on me, it's soft skin scent.

If you like Prada Candy, you will love Black Sugar oriental lilly violet. It's a bit less sweet and more complex with great longevity! This one is discontinued but the new Black Sugar is almost the same.

More smooth and interesting than Prada Candy. Actually better than Prada Candy in my opinion. A delicious burnt sugar and vanilla smell with lilly on the backround. Great longevity and sillage also!
