Subtle Orchid 10

This is a really beautiful vanilla fragrance that lasts and has complexity. It starts with a vanilla orchid over a gourmand praline pastry accord that suggests a waffle cookie dusted with powdered sugar. It's delicate and then evolves into an ever darker vanilla pastry accord with a hint of coconut. This is a great smelling vanilla, an expensive smelling vanilla, and the best straight up vanilla I have smelled. It's f*ing expensive (but not on Ebay right now). The thing I notice with some of my favorite Krigler fragrances is that they are long lasting but and have a delicate quality. Manhattan Rose is like this, also Lovely Patchouli Night (which is sumptuous), and now Subtle Orchid. For the price (thinking of comps at this price point like Amouage, Orlov, even Tom Ford which have big openings and use synthetics that amplify sillage and extend notes and accords) this reminds me more of natural extracts steeped and distilled into a gorgeous concoction that uses the spraying to release its full bloom. Not sure how Subtle Orchid would fare dabbed. Subtle Orchid feels light in weight. It has good sillage and projection but it benefits from multiple sprays (like 5-6 plus) in order to get a full effect of wearing perfume, and even with that it feels more like an aura around the wearer, a suggestion. You aren't going to fumigate anyone with this. That's the best I can do to describe this effect, because at the same time it's long lasting, complex, and smells great from beginning to end. I think the smell is addictive and in a weird way its a body spray vanilla, something so edible delicious and natural that I would like to have on hand all the time and spray with abandon. The coconut is a hint and its sexy. If you like vanilla and praline and coconut and gourmands I doubt you will be anything but pleased with this one.

They should call it No Orchid. Not flowery notes, just as F_A said no flowery notes whatsoever, it smells just like toffee candies and caramel cookies...

The correct notes coming from the Krigler website should be: Cinnamon, Almond, Lemon, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Coffee and Vanilla. This to me is not an edible gourmand, but it is definitely sweet. There is something floral, sweet, a little spicy, creamy, and an interesting coffee/patchouli combination on my skin. My skin pulls patchouli pretty strong, but it is a note that does well with my chemistry. This is very well blended to the point where it is hard to distinguish individual notes. I definitely get the spiciness from the Cinnamon in the top, and there remains something gently spiced throughout the wear but only when I smell it up close. I believe orchids are a fantasy note in perfumery, but this definitely has that exotic floral aspect to it. This is not a vanilla in the gourmand sense, this is vanilla orchid, so it does not have that edible quality. Great projection, sillage and longevity. This smells expensive and high quality. Nothing sharp to my nose. Very smooth. This is feminine, sophisticated and sweet, but not cloying or syrupy.

A strong, opulent, long lasting and almost boozy type of vanilla composition. I also get some sort of beautiful balsamic woody notes in the drydown. This is great for gourmand fans looking for a high quality scent. Not wearing it too much anymore lately as I do not love gourmands like I used to, but still unable to let it go because it's a real beauty

I was liking this until I started researching how to acquire a bottle. This is a gourmand sweet vanilla— a good one—but absolutely not worth the price of $30 for a sample (2ml) and $395 for 50ml. There are so many great pastry gourmands that I was shocked to see this asking price. Great scent, ridiculous price.

Save your money just get Black Orchid Tom Ford. Smells very similar, almost to a T, at least on me.

I wanted to like this one so much - you can immediately discern the incredible amount of talent that went into crafting this scent. It’s beautifully layered, thick and maximalist. A chewy, dense floral, not unlike TF Black Orchid. To be honest, the older I get, the more intolerant I am to orchids in parfumerie. They bring a putrid sweetness, something rotten to the mix, ensuring that even the masterfully blended SO ends up more compost pile than bouquet to my nose. If you were ever going to like an orchid scent, this is as high quality as can be purchased. A couture gown, hand-detailed and exquisitely tailored, but she just isn’t my style.

This is Tom Ford White Orchid. A vanilla chai (no tea note) layered with Black Orchid. Like 80-90% similar to Black Orchid without the "black". Yeah, I agree it isn't worth the price at all!! The dry down is what sold me. Completely changes from BO and becomes this amazing scent. The opening is also stunning. Last foreverrrr!! I can smell it all over my house. Instant buy for me. I hate saying a scent is my signature because its always changing. Especially as I add new scents to my palate. I can honestly say this is my new signature scent! I also get Iris Ganache here in the dry down. Funny because people say Ombre Mercure is Iris Ganache. I find OM smells very similar in the dry down to SO. So, that makes a lot of sense. Yet, this smells more similar to Iris Ganache. Again, this being made before all of those! So, this was made beforehand so correction. Tom Ford seemed to rip off this scent. If the orchid truly is a scentless flower.

Krigler SUBTLE ORCHID does indeed have a very subtle orchid note! But I think that this perfume is actually misnamed, as it is so sweet that the first thing I thought of upon applying it to my skin was Jessica Simpson TASTE. Thoroughly infused with sugar, SUBTLE ORCHID is more of a confectionary than a gourmand creation to my nose. That said, there does appear to be a light touch of orchid buried beneath the thick white frosting layer, it's just that you really have to focus in order to find it. The sillage and longevity are fantastic, and I imagine that this is what workers in the powdered sugar department at Domino smell like upon emerging from a long day's work. Although floral lovers will be disappointed, I can definitely recommend SUBTLE ORCHID to those who like to smell edibly sweet!

Don't know why it is called "orchid" as I get no flowery notes at all. It's a very "edible" fragrance. On my skin it smells just like Meller toffee candies :)Yummy! If you are into sweet edible scents, try it. The staying power is great.

@ F_A & nooory. Vanilla pods are actually derived from Orchids, therefor a lot of Orchids also tend to smell like Vanilla.. Indeed Subtle Orchid is all Vanilla - Dry down smells like sweet condensed milk. True Gourmand.
