Parfum d'Or Elixir

This fragrance comes in an amazing package from the box, leather toggle around the bottle, the huge lid (a bit too huge) and a big heavy bottle. Opens with a burst of juicy Citrus and Peach tang before mellowing down to a boozy Plum and Sweet Pineapple. This is really sweet juice. Lovely floral bouquet of Lilac/Rose with a slightly powdery Violet floral going on in the background, as my skin warms the Rose is pushing to the front. There is just a hint of jasmine, really a lot going on here. Finishes with an oriental fruity flavour thanks to the Ylang-Ylang, Sandalwood and Patchouli. This is a very rich, sweet perfume that can come over quite sickly at first and I think you would really have to like Oriental Fruity Fragrances to wear this. Doesn't quite do it for me, a bit too nauseous making.

Parfum d’Or elixir smell very similar to Guerlain L’heure Bleu on my skin. Purple lilac, vintage floral, classic but requires some appreciation for a classic, unique French style perfume. Gorgeous and uncommon. Lasts forever on skin. Signature scent.

The original Parfum D'or is an outstanding price for the quality. Parfum D'or Elixir smells like what it costs...pretty cheap. I've owned a bottle for years and I've tried having more than a lukewarm response to it. Unfortunately, wearing it feels like a chore or obligation and I'm finally retiring it from my collection. Its shocking to see 16 notes listed for a fragrance so uncomplicated. It opens with a sticky, not-terribly-authentic peach, pineapple and citrus before settling down to an unimaginative fruity scent with a bit of indistinct, basic feminine floral thrown in. The scent clings to me like spilled fruit juice after it has dried--sticky and vaguely irritating. Don't get me wrong-- it isn't a bad scent, it is just absolutely unremarkable, IMO. The performance is mediocre as well. Unfortunately, my adoration for the original D'or has made me try too hard to like this one. Fare thee well, Elixir.
